Hi,
I just got my Xiaomi 15 Ultra. Since I was using iPhones for a long time now, there are quite a few changes for me, but to be honest, I absolutely like it. I feel the phone is a huge upgrade for me. I was curious about a setting: in the camera it is possible to set the picture quality from low to super. Is this the compression quality or is it something else. For me it seems like only the file size changes with the resolution being the same. Is that correct? If yes, is there any point to set it to super instead of high? I tried in a few pictures and don’t really see the difference.
Thanks in advance!

More compression vs less compression. I set mine on super since 512gb is more than enough to store the max resolution images.
Smaller file sizes are largely result of pixel binning, the high resolution (50MP or higher depending on sensor) is a result of running a demosaicing algorithm. There are some advantages to pixel binning.
A demosaiced 50MP actually gives abit more details under situations with good lighting.
Smaller file pixel binning could have an advantage in average / dim lightings.
Also, some of the differences might only be visble if you do pixel peeping at 100% on larger monitors. For day to day viewing on small phone screen or part of the screen it might not be discernible.
