Hello everyone,
I’m considering buying the Xiaomi 15 Ultra but I’m hearing about the phone overheating when taking a lot of photos and videos. Is this true or has an update fixed it?

Ok, some real world experience. I used mine at a concert last week to shoot in log 4k 60. Yes it overheated and once I discovered why and adjusted settings it’s been rock solid. Mine overheated after shooting a 8 minutes video then uploading it to Instagram and simultaneously recording another video from the concert.
Discovered that videoing in 4k and uploading via 5g at same time overheats.
Solution. I turned off WiFi, Bluetooth, LTE 5g
Then I could easily record 4K 60 Log videos without any problems. Did at least ten 6-8 minutes videos and one 25 minutes video with no overheating problems.
So if using it to record concerts then just turn off Bluetooth, WiFi and 5g and it’s solid. Might be an overkill but really helped with battery life as well.
At this time of the year better to wait for phones with next generation chip.
Yikes 😬

Yup the phone is awesome but that is how I have to charge it to keep it not boiling – on a stainless steel slab from a laser engraver at work.
Mine never over heated when taking photos or videos, only when I game it heats up but never over heated.
Huh?
Overheating? I’ve never experienced it but I don’t game. 🤷♂️
Mine is sporadic. Sometimes it will get so bloody hot I just have to stop using it randomly and other times it’s totally fine.
There was only one situation where mine has gotten much hotter than usual, which was inside a temperature and humidity controlled vivarium, a couple of hours taking photos of butterflies and flowers. That was also the only case where my battery didn’t last me a full day without a power bank top-up. But knowing that I was also overheating and sweating when I left the place, then I assume the phone would also similarly suffer.
Mine heats up (not overheat) only when fast charging and on long gaming sessions, also when taking a lot of pictures and videos specially super macros I feel it getting a bit warm but it’s very normal nothing that made my experience uncomfortable
Mine has never overheated once. It gets warm, but not hot. Owned since March.
Do some people report that their X15U might get warm with prolonged use? Yes. Is it “overheating”, not sure. I associate “over heating” thermal shutdown – I haven’t experienced that.
I have never taken enough photos that mine get really warm, but I’m also not a video guy. I was at a museum this week and took lots of pictures, I had no heating issues at all.
I live in Paris, maybe it doesn’t get hot enough.
Good catch lol
What is “this”?
