Support XiaomiEnlightened
Deserves yes. Will it get? Nope. It’s practically impossible for them to update all the variants of Note series. Also now they are launching 2 Note series in a year 🤷♂️
well mi mix 3 5g isn’t getting a single update lmfao
Yes they deserve but In Android world updates really suck if you want proper updates switch to ios
My redmi note 3 pro disagrees
Whyred (Note 5) launched with MIUI 9 Android 7, now I’m on android 9 and waiting for MIUI 12
mi series gets 2, redmi one
What update you mean? Android 11 will not arrives on rn 9 series? Or what?
That’s why I always use a custom ROM on my Redmi Phones. Using Android 11 on my Note 7 already.
Nah we just got miui12 but we never got an android update lol
My Mi Max 2 received exactly 0 Android updates and is stuck on Android 7. I’m avoiding Xiaomi phones until they change this.
They didn’t. They skipped it
Samsung > OnePlus because Samsung offers 4 years of security updates to their flagships instead of 3 years with OnePlus, which is even better than Google in terms of long term updates. But Google have the upper hand since they have a new OS version out of the box with every new flagship Pixel.
* Galaxy S6 – [3 years 11 months](https://www.sammobile.com/2019/02/13/galaxy-s6-security-update-four-years-later/amp/)
* Galaxy S7 – [4 years](https://www.androidcentral.com/samsung-ends-support-galaxy-s7-and-s7-edge-four-years-after-launch?amp)
* Galaxy Tab S2 – [4 years](https://www.androidpolice.com/2019/08/30/samsung-galaxy-tab-s2-still-getting-security-patches-four-years-after-release/?amp)
So iOS > Google/Samsung > OnePlus > Xiaomi/Huawei > others
It’s looking unfortunately like it isn’t at the moment. I don’t see the point in releasing so many phones and can’t update.
You have to consider Samsung’s years old software still have most of the newest Android features. So waiting a few months for a stable OS with tons of features isn’t a big deal. Google have their own update schedule, and so does every single companies. Smartphone manufacturers don’t need to follow Google’s update schedule/time frame because their software + features are very different than Google.
Security updates are more important, and by giving 4 years of security updates + giving software features that would be introduced to future versions of Android, that’s a good win for consumers.
Btw, the only $1000 Samsung phone from 2019 was their Note series. The S10e starts at $749 while the S10 lite starts at $650.
Just install a custom rom once the warranty expires, that’s the route I went for my redmi 5 plus. Being stuck at 8.1 for so long got boring.
I’m so done with MiUi for my Redmi Note 8T. Glitchy as fuck for me (bluetooth and wi-fi issues).
Imma install LineageOs as soon as I get some free time.
Another thing to add is, when your Mi 9 receive android 10, literally nothing changes. I know because I own a Mi 9. Literally the only thing that was added was global dark mode, that’s it. It was still based on MIUI 11, and it didn’t even receive half of Android 10’s features. You know when the Mi 9 start receiving MIUI 12? Six months after their Android 10 update, in May – June. And now, it finally have most of Android 10’s features. So that’s like 8-9 months later than Pixels
This is different from Samsung approach since they give out a new version of One UI + a new version of Android with the same update.
Like my other comment said, Xiaomi roll out Android 10 update without most of Android 10 features. I myself a Mi 9/ Mi 9T user and I can confirm this. Xiaomi give out their full Android 10 experience with their MIUI 12, 8-9 months later…
>Plus MIUI is way different from stock Android, they should not be compared.
Yes, and neither does One UI with Stock Android should be compared. This is what I was saying in the first place.. There are just so different.
Or Samsung’s software updates (new One UI version + Android version with the same update 3-4 months later) should be compared to Xiaomi’s software update (new Android update with a new MIUI update 8-9 months later)
Which one? Revenge was great but battery was horrible and the dev gave up. I don’t like the weaboo guy’s builds. He couldn’t fix bugs for the entire Pixel Experience 10 lifetime.
Just the top of my head, they might be more;
– “Only when using this app” permission control
– better gesture controls with better animation
– google assistant swipe from lower corners
– swipe between apps like in iOS
– global dark mode + support 3rd party apps (I made a mistake, this feature is actually introduced with MIUI 12, and not Android 10 based MIUI 11)
All of this was introduced with MIUI 12, and not with the updated Android 10 based MIUI 11, even though all of this is Android 10 features. It may not seem a lot, and that’s because stock Android doesn’t offer that many new features to begin with.
No, that’s not what I meant.
You said that Samsung is low asf in rolling up updates to their phone, but Samsung’s software is much more different than stock Android, so it’s just not fair to compare the two.
I meant that Samsung’s One UI and Stock Pixel software shouldn’t be compared with in terms of their updates speed. Just like you said that MIUI can’t be compared with stock Pixel updates; Because their software are entirely different. So saying that One UI have slow update even though we know that their software is much more different than stock Android is just not fair.
they don’t get 2?
Well I know that’s not obvious but I Believe no Remdi note series don’t deserve two android os update. Of course if it was getting two updates I wouldn’t refuse it of course. But I think that when you buy a ~200$ phone that has a very good hardware you can expect to have a little bit worse software (the cheap price has to come from somewhere… With Samsung A serie for example sacrifices are made in the hardware part. However you keep a very good software (samsung announced that galaxy a51 would get 3 years of android update)
>Samsung only does it for it’s $1000+ phones from 2019
No, they are also giving 3 major updates for A51, A71, S10 lite etc which are lower priced than Oneplus phones. And Samsung flagships get monthly security updates instead of quarterly.
They may be a bit slower in version updates but i don’t mind waiting 3-4 months for major updates if it results in stable updates
They provide 3 major MIUI iterations per-device and 18-24 months of security updates.
For a device with awesome specs that costs like 130-150 bucks, this is good enough. I’d rather choose stability over bleeding edge freatures.
If I don’t want to share my data with China, or want to test the newest Android iteration or taste AOSP, I can switch to an AOSP-based ROM at any moment, ’cause Xiaomi allows me to unlock the bootloader and replace the recovery menu. Unlike Huawei or Samsung, here I still have some degree of freedom.
At least for pro versions they should do that 🙁
Note 5 pro got 2 android updates
xiaomi seems to want to release a new phone every 2 seconds. i bought my phone last year and its already outdated!
most devs dont tho
Custom roms are really cool but due to the upcoming safety net restrictions we’ll not be able to bypass safety net even through root. Banking apps and other apps which require safety net passing will not work. That will be the biggest drawback of custom roms going forward.
They deserve so much more from Xiaomi, yes but that’s never gonna happen. And that is why I have vowed to never buy Xiaomi for even my parents or relatives.
Yes they do but given how many phones they release every year its quite difficult to do so. Thankfully the community is active so getting latest android is possible that is if your cpu is snapdragon though redmi note 8 pro is an exception.
Did you even read what he said…
You know, I rooted my RN8P and it fails safety net, and couldn’t find a proper way to fix it.
However I downloaded some SQLite Fix patch on magisk, downloaded MagiskHide props, hide the magisk app itself as well as my banking apps, and so far, it seems to work just as fine.
Unless if I’m missing something really crazy that’ll affect all of that in the future, it works great as a bypass.
I liked my rn5 so much when I bought it but I’d never buy another xiaomi again. I had tons of bugs with the miui and the phone in general that I won’t ever buy one again. I kinda miss my asus tbh, it was shit but even without half the screen I had less problems than with my rn5
morning Ihave a Mi8 litephonewith android version 10 QKQ1.19091 0.002 . Recently I purchased a Subaru Liberty with android auto version. Trying to pair the phona and car togrther isimpossible . They dont recognise each other I have been told the android auto version is not comparable is this correct do I have to buy a new phone any suggestions thanks
Exactly, unexplainable bugs and Xiaomi never resolves them.
Xiaomi can’t even get MIU12 to some devices FFS.
Evolution X is very good and stable. I’ve been using it for almost a year without any problems now.
Every year is fine, but twice every year is kind of too many
Xiaomi phones are great for me because I like to tinker with it but not so great for anyone else in the family. I bought my sister a Redmi 7 but there are many minor bugs that annoy the crap out of her, like being unable to apply a live wallpaper in the lock screen
Isn’t they already update their smartphones for 2 os updates redmi note 5 pro launch with Nougat version now it’s on pie version
Yeah, if I tell you about my bug, you’ll laugh like crazy.
I had bought a Redmi Note 3 for my dad back when it was released, I guess 2013. Since about one year, you can’t make calls to some specific numbers. This bug is famous by the name ‘call ended problem’.
I even installed a custom ROM thinking it would be resolved by that but it wasn’t. My dad has to use another phone everytime he has to make calls to those numbers.
Since then, I have vowed to never buy Xiaomi no matter how tempting their hardware is. Xiaomi is very irresponsible about software support.
Even my Redmi Note 8 hasn’t gotten ONE Android OS update, and it’s been a year. Also, it was last year’s most popular Xiaomi phone.
Redmi 4 Prime was the same 😭
