Hi guys!
I do not know if it is just me, but every time I open this subreddit it seems that people only speak about bugs or complains about their current phone.
Please do not get me wrong, it is valuable for the community to reach out about the problems/bugs so that we can all stay on top of things.
Nevertheless I think it would be great to see more positive things about the Xiaomi phones. Like what do you like best about it? why you picked that phone specifically? Is there something great that you created with it?
Or idk, maybe I am wrong and I am not seeing them positive things around here. What do you think?
This comes from an all time apple user (within almost all the ecosystem) that was surprised when I made the change to Xiaomi. They are such a great value for the money as well as quite aesthetically pleasing in my opinion.
If I had come across this subreddit before buying the phone I would have had second thoughts about making the switch because all of the bugs and complaints (which are good to voice out, don’t get me wrong).
TLDR; I think it would be great to see more positive things about Xiaomi phones in this subreddit.
It’s sort of putting me off buying a Xiaomi too, I have been keeping an eye on the 9T and Note 10 issues. Maybe the hype of new devices just isn’t around until the Mi 10 comes out properly.
What else do you expect when it is a buggy phone.
I will start,
My mi 9 Lite it’s great and has nothing “Lite” about it in its name. The build quality it’s comparable to iPhone 11/XR. And even though it has Snapdragon 710. Wow this thing can run CoD without issues at high frame rate.
Plus: it has a headphone jack, I missed this stuff.
¿How buggy compared to other androids? I genuinely want to know.
I’m glad to hear that. I understand.
And oh my that is more of a pain because those guys actually paid pixel money for those phones.
Edit: words
Only who has issues goes on reddit.
I agree on that, and the Mi 9T is like a popular one between the Xiaomi ones. I say you should jump the gun if you have no other alternatives.
By the way, the Note 10 takes some amazing pictures if you’re more into that. Plus the phone is gorgeous in my opinion.
A tip: wait a little bit until the Mi 10 comes out (hopefully the others will lower in price).
I agree, but there are some everyday stuff that a reviewer might not able to transmit that someone who owns the phone can.
I believe the posts show a true representation of the phone. There have been a lot of posts recently about the f-up of the mi A2 lite update.
But… Ideally the admins should do more to control similar posts, and posters should search for similar posts before posting.
> it seems that people only speak about bugs or complains about their current phone.
Duh? Of course people would complain about the problems and try to find solution. If everything would work fine, subreddit would be dead and only rare posts of appreciation or conversations about new models would appear.
I totally agree.
In my case I love my Mi9 and the MIUI, it’s very fast even at moments like when I’m playing COD and needs to swap to another heavy app like other game, and I just need an system fast enough to open the apps, nothing very specific.
The camera it’s great, even more with GCam and one thing that always amazes me specially at night, it’s the AMOLED screen, absolutely beautiful.
I think Xiaomi it’s great specially the prices for such great phones. My wife got the Redmi Note 8 and for 150 euros, she couldn’t find it any device near that price with this quality.
Keep up the great work Xiaomi.
Idk how but my mi a2 plays cod on 60 fps. Just like my brother’s Xs max
The Mi 9T isn’t actually all that bad, me and many friends bought that phone and are super happy with it. Yes there may be an app crash once every few weeks/months or something, but what phone doesn’t have that?
The only thing I can really say, while I don’t consider it bad: before Android 10 I had like easily 2 day battery life, now I only get 1 to 1.5 days. I do hope it gets fixed with some update, but I don’t think it’s a serious problem at all…
Hi, I never stated that their mistakes should be justified or that they should get a free pass. What I would like to know is what people have found out positive in some situations that have been great with their specific model. Or maybe some tips they would like to share with the community, that’s all.
Constructive criticism should always be accepted in order to improve anything.
Exactly.
Reporting with Mi A3 here, so amazing it is!
Even though it’s 720p, the display looks really colorful and good, and runs high end games like PUBG Mobile on 60 fps without a problem (for 60 fps unlock, use GFX Tools app from google play)
On my Mi A2, COD runs on 60 fps without any additional apps
Yeah, the thing is that PUBG Mobile devs didn’t “officially” implement the settings for Mi A3 with 60 FPS yet, so you have to use additional software to unlock it. Flagship performance for mid-range price!
BUT NOW THEY ARE SO EXPENSIVE YOU FAIL ME XIAOMI LONG LIVE UMIDIGI
/s
Amazing!
Because usually, people go here for help when their phones start having issues. Personally, if I was looking for a review of a phone, I’d just go to youtube or other tech reviewing page to check it out.
I mean, think about it.
If something works there is no reason to make a post about anything. But if there is an issue then you will reach out to the community and try to find a way around your problem.
I’ve had the pocof1 for about a year
It’s been great, no major bugs, good updates, user friendly, customisable ,fast, powerful , decent camera, all I need in a phone
Why pay 1100usd for something which I can get for about a 10th of the price
had an OG pixel xl. Overheated like mad to a point where it was almost dangerous. this is after it being replaced once already because of overheating
My mi 9 is so much more buggy that my previous phone(opx). The more I use this phone the more I notice it. It’s kinda annoying but not a deal breaker.
I’ve never made a post here but I’ve been happy with my Pocofone F1 and MI Mix 2S. Literally don’t have any issues so there’s been no reason for posting.
Lol
Cheap but aftersales service is a joke
I have a pocophone. It’s great in hardware without a doubt and if you consider the price even more. The best of all is the amazing support that this phone got from community. There are tons of options for roms, kernel source gets released fairly quickly and has two pilars of the community under his weapons which are lineage os official support and gcam active development. I honestly think there was no better choice at that price and I don’t know when I’m going to be able to see a phone that makes me pull the trigger.
But.. I’m sad to say that there are some things from the stock software that has no excuse… The gimmick miui for poco has result in a Frankenstein which has sluggish animations and worse integration between system animations and launcher. There are bugs about this which has gone unfixed for months and more appear with new updates. I consider that software updates are still pretty good on schedule because we have Android 10 and February security patch but bug hunting and actually fixing em should has more priority… This bugs are known but they simply aren’t giving em enough importance… This makes the stock experience somewhat worse than what it should.
I would still make the same choice when picking the phone but all things should be said when saying an opinion.
You should really add a disclaimer for those unaware that their is a potential risk of your account getting banned if you use gfx.
Well, devs claim that it’s ban-free and just edit cfg’s and not the game files, but I really can’t promise anything, so yeah, use it on your very own risk.
Devs can claim whatever they want, any editing of the files whatsoever good or bad can land you a ban, not sure if you were playing but a few seasons ago their was a gfx ban wave and thousands of accounts were taken down, not worth the risk imo but each to their own. Gfx isn’t giving anyone a advantage and people shouldn’t be getting banned for using it, Tencent just being dumb and restrictive.
I am looking into Mi A3, can you recommend it? I mainly want Android One device, and so far Mi A3 seems like the best choice right now.
Wasn’t here for too long, downloaded the game recently since I got Mi A3 recently… :p
Thanks for informing me and potential readers of this, though.
100% recommend it! But the important thing is to see the screen with your very own eyes in the shop. Some people claim that it makes their eyes physically hurt because of 720p + OLED, doesn’t happen for me tho.
In other terms, performance, camera, battery life (especially battery life — A3’s can live for whole day of active use without any recharging) it’s really outstanding and is really good for it’s money, especially if you want Android One.
> If I had come across this subreddit before buying the phone I would have had second thoughts about making the switch because all of the bugs and complaints (which are good to voice out, don’t get me wrong).
I wish I had come across the more negative posts before I got mine. I get that its cheap and all but you’re absolutely right, if I had realised there were so many problems with doze mode with this brand I would not have been interested in having one.
Because it looked such a good deal I was almost on the verge of buying one and then my gf decided without my knowledge to buy the one I was looking at as a present, an MI9T, one which I was still on the fence about and if I had seen more posts about how much trouble a communication device has communicating I would absolutely have ruled it out.
Example. I have to open my email client every time I reboot the phone or it never, and I mean never, notifies me of any mail until its been opened once.
Example. I messaged my friend on telegram that I was home at 11am yesterday morning, his reply came through mid afternoon, while he was sitting next to me, despite the time stamps showing him replying within half an hour on his phone.
My slow old 4 yo phone gets the notifications within seconds still. The Mi9T does notify me if I actually open the apps but thats just created a paranoid loop of me having to check 4 apps over and over just incase someones messaged me in. Thats a ridiculous thing to have to do with a phone in this day and age.
There is an update to android 10 waiting but I am apprehensive about that too since I see around this sub several people saying now since updating to A10 their microphone doesn’t work for things like speech to text, something I use a lot, and for telephone calls, unless they do things like disable hello google and/or switch speakerphone on then off each call.
Honestly what’s the point of having a phone with so many issues? I have only kept it this long so it didn’t hurt my gfs feelings and just lock open all the messaging apps in the background each reboot so it works in some kind of timely fashion but that’s a bs fix really. Yes I have gone through every app and disabled optimisations, disabled battery saving, disabled/enabled every damn thing I could to make it work after hours of research on its issues, hours I frankly should not have had to spend, oh and it doesnt even flash the damn notification light red unless I put it on green.
So yeah, people are negative because their phones have serious issues, issues which are beyond minor or beyond trivial, and being a long time redditor this is my no1 source of info so here I post/get my xiaomi news from.
I am sorry if it spoils your day, I really love the gesture enabled full length screen, I love that the selfie camera I never use doesn’t stare at me through a notch, I love the battery life as after using it all day playing podcasts at work its rarely below 70% but if I could wind the clock back knowing all the major issues this brand has I would never ever have considered it a viable choice for the apps I need to have communicate with me. Its a partly useful lemon as far as im concerned and the posts I see here reflect that.
Sorry for having a negative opinion but the truth is the truth.
Ok. OP please do not believe if someone says Xiaomi phones can easily beat Samsung S line or latest Iphone. Xiaomi is budget phone. Cpu and other hardwares are good in Xiaomi but cannot beat with them. The lack of Xiaomi is software. MIUI is good so but it’s have a lot bugs and lacks. You can consider install custom firmwares. I have Xiaomi Mi9T and U loving it thşs my second xiaomi. Xiaomi have amazing community. Samsung and other androids don’t have developer community like that. Because Samsung doesn’t allow modding without voiding warranty and Xiaomi doesent care what you did with software if something goes bad on hardware xiaomi fixes. I got my second xiaomi just for amazing community and developers. And Mi9T is very good and have very good hardware pros to phones in same price level. I’m using custom firmware. I just boughting xiaomi for decent and cheap hardware. Software can fixeble.
I’ve been doing the rounds on GSMArena like mad as i’m in the market for a new budget/mid range phone which has great photo taking capabilities. Nothing OTT, mostly daily pictures, things for instagram that kinda stuff 🙂 Would you say the Note 10 is one of the better Xiaomi camera phones?
(Wide lens + macro is a plus!)
I do not own a Note 10 so I cannot say it with confidence though, I have only seen some camera samples from different places that look great.
You may want to consider the Pixel 4a that is right around the corner and should be more or less the same price.
You bought a new hammer for your garage, you really like it but will you really go online and praise it? You found some good vacuum filters that are both cheap and effectivez will you go online and praise them? Use yourself as an example and ask yourself the question again.
> Gfx isn’t giving anyone a advantage and people shouldn’t be getting banned for using it, Tencent just being dumb and restrictive.
Not to be mean but, coming from PC gaming, fps can make a world of difference in a competitive scenario. If a game updates on every frame, 60 fps gives you double the chances of choosing to shoot/dodge/act upon something than 30 fps.
Sure, the casual Fortmeme playerbase won’t notice anything besides the smoothery goodness of it, but there is a reason why high refresh rate monitors are a thing at the competitive level on the PC bubble (and why it has been leaking onto the mobo world for the last few years).
> **admins** should do more to control similar posts
No one here as admin. That’s why some people shit posts and promote youtube contents here.
How’s that possible?
👏👏
I don’t think you understand what I meant by that, gfx isn’t removing grass or bushes and things to give a advantage, it’s not cheating, it’s just unlocking 60fps option for lower end devices, yet people are getting banned for cheating when using it.
As for the fps thing you wrote, everyone knows that…
I totally agree. Xiaomi is always my first recommendation for any of my friends. We should bring more positive vibe to this subreddit.
I’d love to love my Mi 9T, but it’s absolute shit and I now don’t know why I picked it.
Thanks for this! Here’s a picture I clicked on Mi 8, with some adjustments on Adobe Lightroom Mobile.
My Mix 3 5G has been an excellent upgrade over my old Samsung S9+. Very happy!
I’ll continue.
I love my Mi 9T. The color is beautiful. The camera is excellent. The software is beautiful and the gestures are pretty neat (and that one counts for every Phone with MIUI, been using it since MIUI 5 on my S3 as a custom ROM 😅) The battery life is really really good and same is for Performance.
Plus: Headphone Jack😅👍🏻
I got a Mi 9 Lite recently and I love everything about it. I genuinely have no complaints about it. It’s such a great phone! Pretty good camera, great battery life, expandable storage, headphone jack, nfc, not to mention it’s very fast and runs smoothly at all times.
Very enlighting. How is it shit?
Battery is absolutely bad, it buggs out on something every minute or the mic simply doesn’t work, etc.
I had the Xiaomi MI5S and it was the best purchase I ever made. Now I have had the Xiaomi MiA3 for two weeks and everything runs very smoothly. The only thing I couldn’t make it work is the NBA 2K mobile
Still happy with my Mi9. It was the best phone under €500 on the market at the time.
Haters gonna hate.
I love Xiaomi
Ok let’s do it. I recently got a mi 9 lite and I absolutely love this phone.
Yes, it’s true. I am very happy with my Mi 9T but sometimes I have to confront my situation with other users (for example when updates come).
Agreed.
That something works as intended is just expected.
I bought a Redmi 7. Except my gripes with Xiaomi’s policies regarding bootloader unlocking, it is the best phone I ever owned. It is responsive, the battery lasts the whole day, the screen is beautiful and – the most important part – it have decent development going on XDA. For what I payed it was a steal.
All i read in this subreddit is: Where is the update? Why do I not get the update? How can I install the update? Later all i read is: I got the update(screenshot of the update). I finally got the update in (insert country name). I got the update!!!
Sigh… I wish the moderator would do his job and clean this BS.
They’re cheap phones. You get what you pay for
Yeah there is some of that.
Cod seems to be very well optimized. Unlike the pile of shit called pubg mobile.
/s < ---- is right there
I’d love to have litlle smaller phone from xiaomi but with high end specs and lower SAR value 😀
I love my Xiaomi A3 but it’s true that they come with issues… specially when updating the Android version.. I had a Xiaomi A2 and the same thing happened. That said, for the price, these phones are still waaay better for me than Samsungs. I use my phone a lot and the wear and tear is real… Rather spend 200€ every year than 1000€ every year on a new phone. The quality of the camera is always amazing and I’m hooked to Xiaomi for sure!
I love my Xiaomi Mi 9T, I spent many many weeks if not months looking at phones and this one fitted all of the criteria and I’m super glad I spent this long looking for it. The only problem is many people are brand snobs. Jokes on them, I laugh when they spend 3x as much for a phone which is worse haha!
Mi 9t pro. Was about same price list as Huawei p30 lite, but thank god i chosed Xiaomi. Battery is good, camera is good, processor is good. So no thing to complain. Hope to “take all” from this phone and use it as long as possible.
I agree with you about notification, I miss out on so many urgent messages. But I guess I don’t mind that much, or that my adaptability just surprise me again. I am now just habitually visit every apps to make sure they are open, so the notification can come through.
I think my only complaint about xiaomi with my mi max 3, is what phone can I upgrade too? Mi max 3 is just so good
Don’t get me wrong but I understand that a little positivity is great but keep in mind that when it comes to *technology* or rather anything that you *purchased* it can come out as a little bit of /r/hailcorporate
What about Asphalt 9?
Not really. It also happens O. Other subreddits, particularly the Pixel and LG ones. Sure there’ll be people there praising their device, but there’s a season when there’ll be a lot of complaints (especially around the release of Pixel 4 last year lol)
Anyway I’m using a mi 9t now from a Pixel 2XL and it’s been nice most of the time. I do miss the timely update, and cleaner UI of the Pixel though.
You can anyways get 60fps with a higher end device
I think the forums generally very positive, but when (especially big) bugs appear they should be talked about.
No news is good news
I agree! I’m a new convert to Xiaomi (jumped ship from iPhone 6 to Mi 9 Lite) and ngl I was bummed to see so many people complaining here while doing research!
Loving my Mi9t pro. I guess with Xiaomi you gotta know which line to buy from. Mi series and redmi note series are the ones to go for.
We’re punishing them for not releasing a Max 4.
I mean admin accounts are inactive. They no longer care. I made a post months before when people was spamming asking miui 11 updates. No one took any action or no admins replied. The group was full of spams. Even abusive ones are inside without ban from admins.
Nice click.
I’ll go too: I have a redmi note 5 fir the last 13 14 months now and there’s not been a single issue with it. Battery life is good, it’s snappy just like on day 1, runs everything I threw at it and has also survived a few falls, coffee spills, water crashes etc.
Don’t get me started with the op. I have one plus 6 and the update in December killed pretty much any usability in the phone. It still doesn’t work now. Overheating, lags and shit. I mean the battery goes from 100 to 0 in like 4 hours when it gets hot for no fuckin reason and also broke some apps.
On the contrary, my Mi9T has the best battery out of the all phones I use, also the mic works. I am stock everything
I’m also stock everything but I’m honestly very close to flashing something. I just don’t understand why the battery is this bad, as I’ve done nothing bad to it. Sure, I’ve played games, but not a lot and I’ve charged it properly. I loved the phone at first but now it’s become horrible.
I’m almost at 2 years with a miA1, and was planning my next phone to be a xiaomi on the Android One program as well, but after seeing the botched android 10 rollout to the A2 and 3 I’m rethinking it.
I love my Xiaomi! I have a Mi5 Pro and don’t see any reason to change it. Costed me 400 dólares, I just change the baterry every 20 months and still a champ!
Xiaomi is not perfect, but I still recommend it’s products to everybody I know.
I have the Note 10 and imo, for that price, you wont find a better camera phone
I’m on my 4th Xiaomi phone. And it is highly likely that when I replace it, it will be another Xiaomi phone.
I escaped the buginess of stock Android on my Nexus 5 to MIUI which is one of the few Androi d skins that actually looks good.
While there have been bugs over the years, my overall impression of both Xiaomi and MIUI is really good. My overall impression of stock Android has been rather bad
Love all of my xiaomi phones, but the novelty wore off and I’ve praising my 9T to death so I’d move on to next thing that caught my intrest.
However, for real though, whenever I see a new phone, 9T made me think ‘nothing can top this, at least for me’. Haven’t felt this for my last phones
I have never bought Xiaomi phones in my entire life since I am used to become a Samsung sheep since 2012 until 2019. My first Xiaomi phone I have ever bought is a Mi 9 Lite which is basically a global version of Mi CC9. I bought 6/128 variant for RM995 (~USD$225) and I gotta say, this is one of the best midrange phones I have ever used compared with the others I have daily driven with! What really sucks for me is that the Mi 9 Lite is so underrated, even my local don’t even have it in stock. But otherwise, I have no regrets with it. Best upgrade ever, coming from a Galaxy A8 2018.
Oh yeah, a Vietnamese friend of mine that I have got along since my immature days used to own the Mi Max 3. It was such an amazing phone to him until unfortunate thing happened. His phone got stolen which I felt really bad…
Funny that you would say that in a negative post instead of posting yourself the positive content you want to see.
/r/keming
Well their matchmaking algorithm might also be configured to match player with similiar/same frame rates. So when a device which in theory should be running the game at 30 FPS, suddenly gets a boost to 60 FPS , your fellow players might have a clear disadvantage.
if such a thing exists im sure it would also put you with 60fps players. also there really isnt that much of an advantage just smoothness
Thanks!
Most people only come online when they have issues . Before I bought my note 8 .. all my research was done on YouTube .. Gsm arena …news lol and guess what ? I love this phone . I was a iPhone sheep but it got to the point where I was spending 1k a phone but wasn’t getting much from it . Now I have a $160 phone and the only feature it doesn’t have that my 8+ has is nfc but people aren’t gonna come here and post that .
If you had asked me if I’d advice buying Xiaomi at the moment, I’d say no. So yea
I wish Xiaomi did there job and cleaned up their bugs, my mi a2 is close to unusable
Is there an “android one” sub?
I’ve been looking at one to replace my Huawei p10… How is the camera? I can’t decide if it’s an upgrade really
I’m looking at getting one to replace my Huawei p10… How is the camera? I know this may go against the spirit of your post, but is there anything you don’t like?
It’s very good considering what it costs. I don’t know if it’s better than yours though. You need to consider that p10 was their 2017 flagship phone, so I assume its camera should hold its own still today. Try to find comparisons to see for yourself. If you have access to a Mi Store where you live, I’d recommend checking out the device with your own hands. In terms of general performance, I’d say it is a some of an improvement due to the better battery and newer chipset.
Hey it is completely fine to educate yourself if you’re going to make a purchase. Please do not worry.
Things I don’t like: the camera in low light isn’t the greatest but day photos are quite good and impressing. Sometimes the notification system gets funny and shows some things that I can’t turn off. And I don’t know why but when I go to some areas that are not as populated I lose 4g faster compared to other phones. (that depends on your country/antennas tho)
