These days many articles are coming out saying that hackers use the selfie cameras of their targets and steal info secretly in the background but in case of pop-up cameras that isn’t actually possible unless the camera is out. So that’s a great thing
for users that have a standard camera, you can use a root module for xposed called ”CameraNotify” it send a notification and change led colour when the camera is used by any app
I dont think it does, and warranty doesn’t cover much mostly.
*cries in mi 6*
you dont void warranty by root, until your claim isn’t software thing. you can unroot that shit easily. I root my phones first days after buy, and did succesfull warranty repair (bad lcd).
But since gcam is now also for unrooted phones too, there arent so much reasons to root unless you are in heavy customizations.
it broke the software warrantly but if your rooting the bootloader is unlocked, so you can always reinstall the stock ROM and relock bootloader after if there a problem, and it’s like there’s never been anything.
that insane in one years the phone industry completely change, I’ve just realise mi6 was released like one years before the mi8, but there a lot a change
still prefer mine, it’s easier to operate using one hand with no notch
also blazing fast fingerprint unlock on the front
2019 and still this “warranty for root” sh.t? Lol…
My Redmi K20 Pro’s camera tends to pop up randomly for a few seconds on random webpages in Firefox on MIUI… It’s kinda concerning. I wiped my data and reinstalled the ROM a few times and nothing changed
Which websites do you visit though? Never happened on my K20, can be Firefox’s fault too. I use Chrome.
I don’t really remember any individual sites, I can’t make out a common theme between them all – although I think it might have something to do with autoplaying video?
But this design will produce very big effect to the weight of the fuselage
The Mi 9T weighs less than the Iphone xs max while being the same size
Yeah
But s10 series are really light, are’t it?
I never enabled access in the first place
haha me I prefer having a mi8 even with the small battery lol
I think if the security is software-side, pretty sure if the hackers are smart enough he can undo it
The app has the camera permission, the websites don’t.
Firefox manages permissions for individual websites. They have to ask permission to use the camera.
Why not just remove the permissions from the app?
That’s one of the reason I want to try pop up camera (no notch is also one benefits coming along), although actually this phone is a bit big for me. I was thinking: huh, pop up camera, less concerned about security issue. Now, if they want to spy on us, they have to dingdong you while the camera is popping up 😆📱
Don’t know how K30 would look like… Heard rumours, no pop-up camera anymore…
Yeah, I forgot to mention it’s Firefox preview specifically. I’ll post a bug report.
yes, and it’s 100% chance that a hacker CAN but when you backdoor someone, especially on android, if you look at the processes running it’s probably to see an antivirus, but since the virus and already installed the antivirus is not incredible so there is no too much risk about checking the process. what makes the strength of this app is that it is very little known, hackers probably do not know it so don’t check for it.
but yes anyone that know a little android can kill the app with a simple command
Wtf is everybody here doing that you think this is great? Whoever would be spying on you would see what? Your face, a wall or a ceiling. The interesting part is the back camera. Even if your cameras are safe, your Microphone would be the most interesting part to spy on you. Yet here you are, using a Chinese phone that loves to “phone” home and you are signed in with your Google account. If you are that serious about your privacy, toss your phone and don’t pretend to think pop up cameras are great because they can’t spy on you. Seriously guys….
I think it’s a Firefox preview bug… Read the other child comments.
Good luck to hackers watching me 5 hours a day browsing reddit and facebook with a bored face
S10 series isn’t very good especially in comparison to a mi9t/mi9/mi9tpro they aren’t faster (except mi9t but the snd730 will be plenty for a long time while also using less power) their screens are worse in my opinion (the 9t has smiled which is way better than oled) they have bigger batteries and cost less. If you really need a waterproof phone (with ip rating) then the S10 is for you if not just go for a mi9(t(pro))
It does have face unlock. And I’d take that Snapdragon 855 and superb display over good selfies and real slow motion any day of the week.

Ah, this explains it. Thanks.
What’s wrong with the mi 6?
It only has one led color:
white
They’re not calling the slow motion “real”. They’re saying that for them s855 + display > selfies + real slow motion
What do you mean by fake slomo?
Ah right, but you can still make it blink if the camera is used.
Totally unusable, who would buy a phone like that?
*has a A2 Lite which was white only too*
At least one good thing 😅😅
Blazing fast face unlock on the front for the Mi8
if your phone is root, you probably know how to not download and install Snapchat_hack_clash_royale_fortnite_infinite_vbuck, this app is more for random app not to see for malware
Exactly my thinking
Same but on Realme X. Today’s update seems to have some changes in blockers and tracking protection.
Yeah now thiefs can safely steal my phone without getting caught, will never buy phone with popup camera
You dare oppose the top security experts
For the rest of us theres actually this neat trick you can where you cover the camera with ramen and hot glue, that way they cant use it.
I have a small request, I noticed my pop up camera makes some audible gear sound when moving. I think that jingle should be the only thing you hear?
