You do realize the very acronym USD shows that it’s NOT a worldwide currency right?
This. I think too many people think this subreddit has only people from India.
Eh, /r/Apple is pretty angry about it
Chineses Xiaomi users are on weibo. Indians are on reddit.
I’m very poor indeed but I have 1500000 XRP.
I donate money instead buying shitty phones.
Anyways you should get to work, maybe one day you will have 1% of my Zerps. Good luck talking shit on Internet.
Ain’t whining bitch
“No one bats an eye”? I’m pretty sure I saw quite a few people outraged by the fast charger not being included with the new iPhones.
Well India is well on the way to becoming the most populous country on the planet…
Tie that to Xiaomis recent interest on capturing the Indian market (2nd largest in the world).. well yes you will capture the attention of a lot of new people.
All those threads naturally have a onesided opinion – nobodies gonna post my phone works fine. It’s the same with iPhones when they have a problem, you only see people complaining about their reception or whatever.
Well said mate!
I can’t believe that people are so dumb to buy iPhone. Wtf is wrong with people nowadays!!
Sniffles in Hong Kong…. But hey at least we get pretty good deals on usedb Samsung and LG phones and other PC hardware
how do you read that? One, Hundres, thousands.
So each place in the numerical system is separated by a comma. I hope it makes sense now,
Reddit is indeed very US-centric, sometimes laughably so. But I don’t think that’s the case here.
As a non-EU European, I can say that USD is much more relatable to me than euro. I rarely have to deal with euro, but I see USD prices all the time. Keeping track of the exchange rates between USD and my local currency also gives me a useful metric to get a general idea of when prices are gonna change.
When I talk to my friend from a neighboring country and need to mention monetary values, I convert the sums to USD, because it’s easier for her to understand and relate to.
USD is the closest we have to a universally understood currency, just like English is the closest we have to a universally understood language.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but I’m not American either, I’m European. And I for one have never heard of lakhsa.
Because those who buy Xiaomi know about their stuff and what’s good.
I’m sure 90% of iPhone buyers don’t even know what that means so they can’t complain about that
Am I mistaken or does it feel like a recent change? Not complaining, just curious how it happened.
But it is misleading when I read prices of a, let’s say, new iPhone, that was just announced, in USD. Not only do I have to convert the price to my currency (also not Euro, but noone cares about polish zloty, and we should switch to Euro already anyways), but US prices are vastly different and lower, so a $1000 phone in the US is more like a $1500 phone here. If prices were written simultaneously in USD and Euro for the respective markets, it would be much more relatable for Europeans.
Alright, no offense, but it is a bit off topic
Dont know what’s more shit. His iphone or your note 3. Both sucks ass but i think iPhone is still better. And no, im not salty. But i guess your lack of money and poorness is annoying you so you keep hating iphones even if they are good phones. I have Samsung S8 and my next phone is going to be IP, cause i can you poor bastard.
Absolute madlads.
we live in a society
True
It’s actually an amazing way to count money, at least for our economy.
I mean, some countries use periods instead of commas in their numbers. This probably isn’t the absolute worst way
Well, some of them, anyway. I’m an Apple fan who posts on that subreddit, but I have a hard time justifying the prices of modern Apple hardware (both laptops and iPhones), where as I could easily do it before.
What’s this? Grammer review?
What’s “1LAKH”?
And what is the 15.000 Xiaomi phone?
That’s fairly self-centred; OP could demand you do the same every time you post in your native currency.
It’s an international subreddit and internationally the dollar is a lot more recognisable and familiar with majority of people than lakhsa. My point proven by the confusion caused above.
Brought an iPhone 8 plus for reasons
Had a shitty 1Amp charger.
I laughed and thougtt are you serious?
1224AUD for this device and they couldn’t even put in a 10AUD charger
Well Xiaomi is not just for India only you know..I’m getting fed up with this Xiaomi memes coming from India..
Umm, how is it a worldwide currency? When you guys use it all the time it creates just as much confusion for (as an example) Europeans like me. Every time someone’s talking prices I have to go and convert it to my currency. And India isn’t some weird niche country noone has never heard of, their currency is used by over a billion people.
I’m not Indian, but why wouldn’t they use their own currency? Why do we have to use the US dollar all the time? I hate how selfish Americans are.

Wait… 1A? lol. Why?
Let’s not focus on capitalist financial news and rather look at what people use in their daily lives. The US already is too privileged. They always get the new tech stuff quicker and cheaper.
yup. I had 5s,after the new 11 update they mess up power usage. Even with new battery, i need to charge like old times. Now using redmi 5,a day only 30 percent to 50 percent usage even play same hardcore game.I also have 4k mah samsung tablet wouldn’t survive a day.
So when work using redmi, when at home ,rely on tab .
A day without thinking to charge is great.
I don’t really care about stocks, I care about what people use in their daily lives, as this is something I can refer to.
You need
possible unpopular opinion here: I don’t care about quickcharge or chargers at all. I’m fine with not being able to carry my phone for 2-3 hours a day, especially considering xiaomi’s huge batteries. It’s a non-issue for me. If a phone gets me through the day then I don’t care even if it needs 6 hours to charge up. I plug my phone in at the end of the day and that’s about it.
Then join me on my mission and use Euro so they have to do the work instead of us
If you’re buying an iPhone your probably willing to buy the better charger, so they’re gonna milk the shit out of it.
Yeah but they’d still buy.
Lmao, so salty hahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahhaahhaahahahhaahahahahahahhahaahhaahhahhahahahahhah I’m typing this with Redmi note 3.
His iPhone is slow as fuck and the battery is dead.
Lmao iPhone is shit.
Like how the US still uses the FPS system and everyone else uses MKS.
then at least show the currency type on the text, or the title so it doesn’t look misleading 🙂
Pretty old system. No point in changing it over when everyone still uses it
1lakh = 100k

Yeah, I think the same, I deduce it because it’s incredible how many confusion are in this sub for indian names for the phones.
You don’t need the currency to understand this meme…
whats the point of 1,00,000 ? why two zeros ? why not just 100,000 like the rest of us..
Whatever, bitch.
I don’t hate the dollar, I hate how people suddenly react when they see a foreign currency, like the dollar is the only true currency there is. As a European it often seems most Reddit users only care about what happens in the US (and maybe Canada a bit). Barely anything focused about other regions.
I tend to use the Euro when talking prices recently, so I’m not the only one who has to go and check conversion rates.
1 lakh = 100k rupees = $1.4k
15k = $210
1Lakh is 1,00,000. The currency here is INR. Also, 15,000 (or more precisely Rupees 15000) is what budget Xiaomi phones are sold for in India.
sir pls volte jio
Yeah sure, keep dreaming.
Exactly. It’s still very confusing and unnecessarily complicated imo.
The country just legalised being gay.
Another different Hong Konger here, if I convert HKD to USD, then my non Hong Kong friends can instantly understand me
I think that there’s proportionally many more Indians than the rest of us combined..
and its not even good for battery health
They don’t comma that much, they just lakh all the numbers up. You can be quoted 2 or 10 lakh to give you an idea. They don’t half them though
Thanks
> I’m getting fed up with this Xiaomi memes coming from India..
Then you’re in for a bad time because India is where China was 8-10 years back on mobile sector.
You haven’t even seen anything yet.
It will eventually become The dominant block reddit wide not just niche subs for certain things which are in India.
If all this troubles anyone they will have a bad time. Better to adapt early and ride the wave.
But it’s not advertised as a site “only for Americans”. Recently I tend to use Euro when talking prices so Americans have to go and check the conversion, as we usually have to.
Now go and open a tap on Google:” what is XRP”. Lmaooooooool
Where is it written that Reddit is only for Americans?
Make your own then instead of whining about it.
No, Reddit is only theoretically international, in reality it’s dominated by Americans. I didn’t have a problem understanding that, and I’m from Europe, so nowhere near India. It’s a currency used by over a billion people, so it’s not some weird niche currency noone has ever heard of. It’s so comfy for you to use your dollar everywhere, but have you ever thought that it creates just the same confusion for us, when we have to go and convert it to, for example, Euro, everytime anyone is talking prices?
I swear it sometimes seems like Americans forget they’re not the only ones in this world.
Okay, but unless you’re really good and quick about doing maths in your head, it’s not really that useful, when talking prices.
Surprised OP even has time to post.
Lmao, you are so right. When I bought my Redmi note 3 pro back in 2015 my friend bought an iPhone 6 instead. When we compared the two phones he was so mad that they had almost the same speed, camera, but my not 3 had a huge battery 😂😂. Well he paid somewhere 550$ for it and I 160$. I still make fun of him today.
Beast.
Why would you care if you haven’t experienced it?
I bet Apple has more 5V 1A chargers than all the* snapdragon 625 Xiaomi has.
**BOTTOM TEXT**
“…. loses their minds ” hmmmm
Well that’s just weird. I despise the American imperialism.
It’s also annoying how US gets everything first. Just look at tech. Most new phones release in the US first, and they’re much cheaper there. Also, when Americans had that meltdown about >$1000 phones, noone cared that people in Europe have been paying those prices for years.
Changing Ruppes for Euros or Dollars won’t kill you and will help us understand your meme. There’s a whole world beyond India.
Laksa is an awesome noodle dish.
Apple is a king company and nobody doubts its decisions
And now your shitty note 3 works like potato while his ip6 works still as fast as new one.
