So your life is a lie then
That’s why you burn an AOSP based ROM first chance you get.
Also the godawful MIUI.
This one is sincere as hell, +1 for Xiaomi.
currently using MIUI, do I switch to aosp ?
I think you dropped this /s
so? every company including Google does the same. big deal.
I never even registered there because I have no incentive to – there are no people who I would talk to over FB.
Why would it be a red flag?
\6. Have fun trying to use phone since most people have a hard time using Android without google services. Many apps rely on it.
It seems as if other big internet companies like google, facebook dont collect user data, lol. All companies do this and some you just dont know, if u dont like it just dont use it
And what’s the problem, everyone else is doing it for years.
what did you expect from a company that placed an ads on the file manager.
I guess now we’re at the point where we just have to decide who we trust more with our data. Yikes.
\5. Put tinfoil hat on head
I’m ISP supervisor, I know all about netizenID and possible consenquences, for many people it’s too late already because system knows more about them than they do about themself.
No, I’m serious.
You live in a fake world. All of this is about presenting american products nice to America and China’s one evil (FBI warns that huawei collects data, how strange?)
And I return you the question, did you really ask the FBI?
Yeah, they’re just as good as any company when it comes to data collection lol. But at least they say that upfront.
Feel free to think so
Apple
> “we collect any piece of your personal data”
Now here’s a real shocking question: …Who doesn’t? 🙂
It might not be their primary income, but that doesn’t mean they don’t do it.
Problem with all that is that it’s so inconvenient. Loads of my apps are reliant on gapps and I really don’t want to spend ages trying to troubleshoot it when something happens.
Really, where’s your evidence?
You don’t have it. Stop talking bullshit thanks.
Edit: Downvoters. Yeah. You don’t got it. Stop saying shit you don’t have actual evidence for.
Does it bother folks that the reality is that Apple has an entire chip devoted to encryption which is in every current iphone that even Apple themselves doesn’t have the key for?
Yeah. Y’all don’t have anything.
Edit2: Downvoting away reality. Hilarious.
Edit3: Downvoting doesn’t change the truth folks.
Edit 4: all of these sad downvotes. No actual evidence. Says everything right there downvoters.
Remember. There is an actual CHIP in each and every iPhone that even Apple themselves doesn’t have the key for.
Google do, not Xiaomi.
Good for you.
I hope you’re trolling.
Touché!
At least Xiaomi actually makes it easier to understand. Samsung, google, basically everyone does it.
One 3rd party collecting your data > two 3rd parties collecting your data
Isn’t it in facebook’s TOS that they can use whatever data?
Apple is the boss in iPhone. They own chips, os, apps… You say they can’t get your data? Be real… They can easily patch your phone with the biggest backdoor ever made.
Sure they could. But they haven’t, and y’all still haven’t presented actual evidence that they are doing this right now.
By the way, ask the FBI.
I mean I get if you don’t want to be spied on, and it’s great that you can avoid sending back data if you don’t want to. It’s just that most of the time people have absolutely nothing to fear from their data being collected. It’s used for advertising, not suppressing your opinions. There are exceptions of course, and for people living in authoritative countries it’s a real issue. But for decadent westerners like myself, nobody cares.
It gets deleted from your browser. That’s it. Everyone else still knows what you did.
Any piece of data?
Umkay
Xiaomi can suck on this 🍡
use a ROM without Google apps then
Next he’s going to say Facebook
The issue is they go way beyond what the Facebook app is supposed to get. Call log, sms log… Even if you don’t have a Facebook account, having just the app on your phone creates automatically a profile for you to link your data to it for them.
Sorry, what are you on about?
No, because I know that Facebook heavily relies on collecting user information. That’s kinda their primary source of income.
Apples primary income stems from hardware sales.
whataboutism : the technique or practice of responding to an accusation or difficult question by making a counter-accusation.
Well, if you have MIUI + google services, then google **and** Xiaomi are collecting your data.
Username checks out
Two words: Custom Rom
I’m still waiting for evidence r_napolitain. All you’ve done is stated what you believe but not actual evidence.
> did you really ask the FBI?
Ummm really dude? You’re being plainly ignorant right now.
Do this make any difference to send all your data to xiaomi or to google? Seriously, they’re all collecting everything they can.
my data is of no interest to the latter, will change my decision if that ever changes :U
They are two settings options to allow Xiaomi to collect information anonymously to improve the user experience.
You burn an ISO because a CD/DVD burner actually uses a laser to burn stuff.
You can be sure if xiaomi doesn’t collect everything on the A1, Google does it for sure.
It’s the same for everything you do in the internet … If you think your Internet provider doesn’t collect all your data or google doesn’t collect your data then you dunno …
You used to burn an ISO, so I used that interchangeably.
Yes, flash, if you will.
What device do you have?
I own a Redmi 5 Plus and got this error when I tried to bind the account. I follow this guide I’ve found in a XDA forums, and I was able to unlock my phone the same day.
[UNLOCK] For people who get 86006 error while binding account:
*There is no need to bind your account*
OPTIONAL
* Go to i.mi.com
* On main page click locate device
(It’ll locate your device on map and in top right corner you should see only one device i.e. rn5/p)
OPTIONAL
* Download mi unlock tool
* Open the tool, signin with the same account you have in your phone.(Make sure you have permissions)
* UNLOCK!
Apply for unblock, once you have permissions, login with your MI account and verify your number in the device, sign in in the unlock tool with your phone number instead of the mail.
I hope it helps, regards!
They do collect *some* information. I never claimed otherwise. But [it’s a negligable amount compared to what the other big companies are doing.](https://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/talkingtech/2018/05/04/asked-apple-everything-had-me-heres-what-got/558362002/)
Problem is, not having Facebook is probably a red flag in itself nowadays.
Yes, I never claimed otherwise. Of course they collect *some* data. The data they collect, however, [is not even remotely close to what Google and Facebook is doing](https://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/talkingtech/2018/05/04/asked-apple-everything-had-me-heres-what-got/558362002/).
Who doesn’t?
Apple.
Yes, you did.
Yeah i was reading about that.. You can disable something, but you’re not going to be completely safe unless you use a rom without google services. And even then, i don’t know if you can prevent every app to collect data. That’s just how it works sadly
I have disable both options you said (Settings > Mi Services), maybe these ones are there for no reason, and Xiaomi collects data anyway.
Mmm toasty warm freshly burned pirated games, press that disk label side to your cheek and feel the warmth.
HR’s been doing it for ages.
Not to play devil’s advocate, but your Facebook/Instragram/Twitter are a lot more dangerous in that regard than Xiaomi “collecting your personal data” for whatever reason. I mean it’s not like they publish it.
Reddit collecting your data, facebook collecting your data, Amazon collecting your data, apple collecting your data, Microsoft collecting your data, xiaomi collecting your data, and so on. Pretty much 3d paties.
Time to change the ROM.
The people complaining about this are the same people with a Google Home in every room of their house.
