This was happening to me as well. Both on Mi Mix 3 and Poco M3. Thankfully, the first comment fixed it.

Updating Android System Webview also works now! Had the same error but instead of uninstalling i gave updating a chance. Bugs seem fixed this way..
Man am I glad I went to xiaomi sub today to find this. This issue began with the mi cloud sync and would spam me with crash reports and then it spread to other apps. Saved me a headache <3 much appreciated.

The bug is caused by Android System Webview. All android phones are affected. Mine isn’t because I don’t do automatic updates from Play store.
Couldn’t run Sync for Reddit few hours ago.
Uninstalling updates for Android System WebView seems to fix the issue.
Clear data and restarting phone didnt help.
Google Play shows an update is available but it was stuck at “Pending” – so cancelled that and then uninstalled updates for the app (taking the app to factory state).
Restarted and Sync for Reddit app started working again.

For me i did not have to delete the android system webview. i just updated it and then i was able to get tiktok to work again.

For me, I needed to update WebView. I’d suggests trying that first, then you can still uninstall if it doesn’t work.

1. Settings –> Apps –> Manage apps –> search “WebView” –>open “Android System WebView” –> Clear all data

Not sure what is used for, but in my case i just had an update to it (android system webview). Updating it solved the issues, no need to uninstall it. Thanks for the solution.

To me it’s 23rd, it came on 22nd. Also AWS belongs to Google it seems. I think miui got updated with the latest android security, probably overnight. And the discrepancy between security and AWS might have caused the issues.

On a hunch I came here as I was getting constant MSA crashes – Google Search and Outlook were also crashing every time they loaded.

Apparently there was an issue with Webview. This morning I was browsing reddit on my phone, when I opened a wiki page inside the app with Webview it crashed and kinda f ed up my other apps. Google issued an update for Chrome and Webview today to fix it

I now see there is an update in the play store but it’s stuck on “updating” and I can’t cancel or restart. However, all my apps are still working so that’s good.

If they don’t fix this I’ll have to chance my phone and if I really need to change it I might switch to samsung (some late models) because I almost do everything on my phone from small work to emailing, etc. And I need it to operate everything smoothly but now It keeps crashing and having the though to change phone it irritates me not because of the cost etc but because I’ll have to log-in to almost 200 apps and my emails of work/personal too.

Saw some articles online that stated that Google fucked up, not xiaomi. Samsung, and other manufacturers had the same issue lately. So updating the aws should solve the issue.

Just remove it. I think it’ll default to the system installed version. In a few weeks you should be able to upgrade again.
Duuude, I literally was configuring my phone until like 30m ago for the last few hours. Unfortunately my problem was with Google play services and installing an apk update only made it much worse to the point getting stuck on a permanent loop.
Factory reset was the only way out.
I wish I saw this earlier…

It seems there is an update to it, since 22 march. Also possibly miui autoupdated to the last android security patch, and asw was also updated. So i suspect some discrepancy between the two.

Uninstalling Android System Webview solved the issue for me…
Edit: look in Google Play -> Installed Apps -> Search for ‘Android System Webview’. If you don’t have it try uninstalling Chrome.
Edit 2: looks like there is an updated Android System Webview package in the Play Store now. Instead of deleting it might now make more sense to update to the latest version. I’m trying it now… wish me luck!

Hi, have a Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 with the same issue. But I can see the Android System WebView on PlayStore Instaled App. Also I can see Android System WebView on Developers Options > WebView Implementation but I can’t do any action with that. Also I can’t uninstall chrome is protected by system.
