My first successful attempt at flashing a custom rom :D (Did it on an old device, for obvious reasons , (Redmi 4x) that was lying around) :D

Well done
Does it have a good battery life and support fast charging?
I remember putting an Android 10 Beta 3 GSI on both Redmi 4X and my daily driver-at the time Redmi Note 5 Pro, and both were equally as smooth, with the Redmi 4X taking a few milliseconds more to *load* stuff.
I’d assume the 4X still performs very well on MIUI 9 and other custom ROMs.
Aight, fair enough, i just thought this was a first world thing I’m too third world to understand
I use OrangeFox but Pitchblack sounds interesting, I’ll give it a go sometime!
Haha did the same recently, not the exact same phone (redmi note 4x), a different OS (lineage android 11) and not my first time, but still impressive.
Haha, I remembered my first excitement when I did this to my galaxy Y lol those days golden days of custom roms , uncharted waters…u can say.
☹️
Oops!
What r the risks of showing email😅?
Its stock. I have never tried anything on it. But i was always curious to do so
Guys I think he MIGHT be using pitch black recovery, which has some really cool features and extras.
Just a guess
Nice what rom did you go for?
Device name “scam”?
Also your personal email is leaking in the video.
Your identity can be compromised. Be more careful bro.
Lolmao
Well its my brother’s dummy email
Ill be more careful next time (this page doesnt allow to attach a photo to the post :(( )
Can I do it without a pc?? Have bootloader unlocked, but twrp recory without pc is it possible
I have used TWRP recovery in the past. Does Pixel Experience work well with it too?
Before flashing a custom rom
I downgraded mine to miui 9.5
And surprisingly ( as expected :b ) it was really smooth
Miui 10 and 11 f’ed this phone really bad
Nice 👍 Congrats 🍾
Am I a crazy mf for doing it on my main phone for the first time without experience?
Indeed!
Wym for obvious reasons?
Yeah the twrp thing is the problem my laptop broke and I can’t flash the recovery img
Damnn u r really brave!!
Will do. Thank You!
Ikr
I can feel the pain☹️🥲
Device name: Scam
hahah
Ma boy you showing your email
From my experience, literally *anything* is more stable than miui 12.
Yeah true i remember it being super reliable on miui 9 versions. MIUI 10 was laggy but not rly unusable. Miui 11 completely f’ed up the phone for me.
Thanks man
That old phone with that custom rom is more stable than current miui 12
Spam mail for example
This is used to avoid the verification security implemented in the boot process, to allow a device to boot when some partition was unofficially modified.
Four years back I tried stock android and kali nethunter on Redmi Note 3…and yes one worked and kali failed…bricked my Redmi device…so it took me some four days to repair the bootloader to restore my device back to normal…yes I was newbie…
I’m thinking of flashing PE+ too but couldn’t find that rom anywhere 🙁
The official rom development has been discontinued for this device.
Man of culture I see
The battery life isnt that great and it charges slowly so planning to switch to arrowos or pe+
I hope MIUI 13 will be BIG upgrade from MIUI 12 🙏🏼🙏🏼
I found a tool which lets u unbrick ur device even if it has locked bootloader
I bricked my phone twice while doing this
That tool helped me a lot
Xiaomitool by fransesco tescari was its name if im not wrong
Can i install it on redmi 3s prime?
Looks rly nice. How’s the battery life & camera? And are there any problems you faced with this rom?
My Redmi 4x is completely trash now. I can’t even perform a single tap without it lagging for eternity. So I’m thinking of booting a custom rom too.
Nice. I started in 2012, I think, with a ZTE Blade, if I recall correctly.
I everything went smoothly at first try… Except the WiFi that didn’t worked and I was almost crying to figure out the fix 🤣 it was my girlfriend’s phone!
Why would anyone do that
Oh heck!
Nvm I just found an unofficial pe+ rom based on android 10 & it works pretty good, although that rom won’t get any future updates but hey, my device is at least usable now! 😀
Do it. I don’t know what they did with MIUI to make it run like dogshit on lower-end phones. You can use GCam (arthur version) on the 4X/4A.
Hey, I’m looking into installing a custom ROM. How complicated it actually is?
Probably because its not MIUI 🙂
In other words, you substantially increased the battery life-winning!
I’m guessing they didn’t want to risk boot looping their main phone or something while they’re still learning how to do it. Fair enough, I had a few issues on my first install haha
Whats DM verify patch?
I don’t remember doing that
Redmi 4x is still an awesome phone, especially on a good custom rom! Compact form factor, excellent battery life.
>PitchBlack
lol took the words out of my mouth
Am i losing my data by doing that?
That phone wasn’t structurally intact
The screen is coming out (no more adhesive on the right side)
And i wanted to keep it to do stuff like this
Good luck matteeee. I personally use Xiaomi.eu Custom ROM. It’s unfortunately still MIUI, but other than that i’m happy with it
What is the best custom ROM for potatoes?
I have old Sony with android 2.3.4 gingerbread (upgradeable to 4) chipset snap dragon S2 and 512 MB storage (300 usable)
It’s soo smooth
DAMNN It looks like a Pixel2 TBH
The only problem I have is that miui has some pretty neat features like the floating windows etc and I don’t want to lose them when installing a custom rom : (
Lol there was a point when I didnt know how to install the twrp and there was I crying and everything, the tutorial was as sketchy as it gets, but I made it eventually
Im beginner in this. Can you share some sort of process for doing it? It would be really helpful.
Nice. Will you daily-drive Havoc OS or try other ROMs as well?
No, because twrp can be installed only through adb.
Wait, you guys don’t immediately sell your old device to pay for the new one?
I bricked the phone twice while doing this😅
I actually wanted to keep this but the battery life isn’t that great and it charges slowly
So ill try other roms
I’m personally running Dot OS on my mido (Redmi Note 4), it looks pretty and works amazing too!
Hey! A fellow Havoc_OS user!
nice work!
Yeah 200 % better than buggy MIUI
I don‘t know for fun or something
