I think it happened during MIUI 11 and 12 too
apart from the bug about disabling animation I didn’t remember any other one
Yeah, that’s why I’m holding out on the stock ROM even though I unlocked my bootloader. They said “official” Global MIUI12 is coming this month but I’m not holding my breath.
That’s my only gripe with the eu rom, the wildvine since it only has L3.
Sadly that’s one of the cons of using China rom on this EU rom.

I have this bug where my volume would go all the down and I can’t put it back up
it was the beta btw.
principally the UI I didn’t like, and I disable all the animation, which was broken on the version i used. I used it for few weeks and I wasn’t use to it, I hated using my phone because of the animation haha.
also I had the habit on miui 11 to customize a lot of shit, installing edxposed (no safety net), customiuizer, etc and nothing worked on miui 12 at this date which is normal since it’s new, but I didn’t feel home
so I tried a custom ROM (EvoX) and love it, I setup my phone in like 1-2h now, before it was many hours
TLDR : didn’t like the UI, can’t disable animation bug, and no mods working while I used it

Another bug. When you click mute button (i think volume button and on sound settings on side) and that button under it to set timer for unmute very fast, it bugs and does bigg mess and needs to open that menu again. (Idk how about MIUI 12 but also my MIUI 11 is doing it)

are you serious? [xiaomi.eu](https://xiaomi.eu) roms need to be installed with TWRP or have some sort of fastboot, and for that you need to apply for bootloader unlock on xiaomi website.

depends on which rom and locale the phone is from.
EEA phones have the option to turn off ads when you boot the phone the first time, others have to disable ads on each app that has them..

I have the Xiaomi Mi 9 and I don’t have any ads or anything strange. The only things is a little bit lower performance since MIUI 12

Don’t think so, MIUI is surely the same for everyone but with added features on higher end devices?
It has many flaws.
Many bugs such as turning off lock screen sound once battery saver is on, and no option to change that.
Dark mode now affects screenshots and screen recording which is plain stupid.
When you pull down the status bar, it’ll start visible then immediately turn everything black and nothing is visible almost.
Doesn’t seem like turning off animations to save battery works.

I installed xiaomi eu rom, have a bug with silent mode turning on by self every day, but it’s fast and battery is great (give it time)
I haven’t seen any ads on my Xiaomi, it maybe depends on the phone you have🤷🏼♂️
Ive never owned a Xiaomi phone without .eu rom, I don’t think I want to if I hear some of the stuff on here.
Do a hard reset and then try again, maybe the ROM fucked up during updating.

After my experience with the Mix 3, I decided to move on get the one plus Nord, it’s maybe not as fast but by far with better OS quality. The security updates take ages, and bugs are insane, especially the battery drain after a new update. It’s sad but miui used to be better.

I wonder if Xiaomi has a software engineering team, sometimes it doesn’t seem like it, they make the devices and then they get lost in chaos.
TBH i tried that when miui 11 was realesed and it havent worked for me. I think it works only with the official roms not xiaomi.eu :/
I would definitely recommend the EU rom, it breathes new life into your device, it’s a must for MIUI devices imho
At least RN7 users have Android 10.

Just sell it around 90€ and buy a Pocophone X3 or a RN9. They’re really cheap and worth the upgrade.
It’s sad that they release so many phones it ends up impacting on support. It’s hard to update so many different models. If only they calmed down and put more into each phone. I have a RN7 and it already feels like a super old phone with so many more phones already out.
Luckily I unlocked my way to get another OS on here, stock Android way better with GCam and no ads and so on

This is probably meant for Chinese region ROMs and not for the Global and EEA regions.
China ROMs always gets the updates big updates first.
Why are you guys so excited about MIUI 12? I’ve heard so many reports of nasty bugs that even if it comes available eventually, I just won’t update. MIUI 11 is working great for me, why change and risk so many things? No no no, I prefer stability over new shinny toys that easily break apart.
I have a life lesson for you kiddos: never change a team that’s winning ;).

Now I use xiaomi.eu MIUI 12 A10 and have no intentions of going back to stock MIUI.
If you have the time and patience, try out the EU rom. Can’t say enough how much it is better than stock MIUI.

MIUI 12 is a battery hog. Trust me not getting the update is a blessing in disguise. I wish I had never updated my device to MIUI 12.
I got redmi note 8 too and got miui 12 since 2 weeks but i not recommend you to update because its very buggy and unstable…
Just FYI guys, you don’t need to unlock bootloader to update. If you can just download the ROM from a website for your version, if you go to the software update page in settings (where there’s a picture of MIUI 11) and click that like 8 times it ‘unlocks additional update settings’ and you can then press update from package with the ROM you downloaded. I did this because I was sick of waiting for OTA on my note 9.

when you know it was such a well-selling phone last year with over 20milion units sold with all versions of phone, it really makes no sense why isn’t on the priority list for updates. I understand that the more expensive ones should get it sooner because people paid more money for them but a big part should also be the amount of sold phones

I’m sorry to hear that. It’s a shame because RN7 was really hyped by Mi when it came out. My sis has one, it’s a great device in my opinion, too bad it doesn’t seem to get 12 anytime soon. But hey, don’t be sad. I’ve had miui 12 for more than 2 weeks now on my mix 3 and it’s not a life changing experience. Yes, I am using the new notification shade, it’s cool, but not much more. I’m not saying it’s bad, but absolutely not necessary. The new animations are fun and satisfying, but nothing extraordinary. The super wallpapers (the Mars and the Earth) are really exciting, but I don’t use them, as my battery is quite degraded and I have to save every bit of power to survive a day. Speaking of battery, miui 12 actually got the SoT a little lower. The new camera app looks better, but the photos haven’t much changed. GCam is still – by far – the best option.
Anyways, what I’m saying is, it’s really frustrating that we depend on xiaomi in terms of software, they are – in some aspects – terrible at it. But, despite the hype, miui 12 isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a few ui updates, and to be honest, a few new bugs (for example, one day I couldn’t raise the headphone volume above 40 percent. The slider worked but had no effect. It was not a region problem, I tried many that don’t have the volume limit.)
RN8 nothing. I decided to unlock the bootloader.

Cheers for the link, have been contemplating going down that route, but thought I’d give Xiaomi the benefit of the doubt. My reservations have not been with the hardware or even the firmware, but the lack of clarity from them.
