I flashed the china beta yesterday, and here is something I noticed.
The control center is just awesome. I know they copied this from IOS, but it looks so much better than the old, ugly notification panel. That looked like it was from the stone age, this looks way more like miui should
Reminded me of windows 8.1 App switching with touch…
Thanks. I hadnt figured it myself
Same here. I can’t remember the last device that I had which I *didn’t* root and ROM immediately!
But it got tiring after a while. At one point, I used to flash a new ROM every week or something haha.
So now I’ve kept my Poco F1 on stock, but those days are behind me now.
Just swipe down on the left and right side of the bottom row of apps above the dock. This is on the default launcher
they had to unify this design with the notification panel to make it useful, otherwise they had to make this panel accessible from the bottom , the failure of the new design is that the screens of the latest Xiaomi are too large to be able to access the notification menu from a comfortable way
wait what? Why are you afraid using something better? I dont get this at all, android is ALL ABOUT customizing. Its okay you dont want to try roms, but why dont try simple aplications from store? You probably already have email client downloaded instead of preinstalled one, maybe a sms or call app? Maybe google photos instead of gallery? Why not change to a launcher with app drawer.
try lawnchair?! same for live wallpaper. just google around, 5min fix. WHy you guys waiting for things like this. Its android. You can probably do it way before it gets official. I install custom launchers since android 2.1, the preinstalled ones are not good, especially at miui.
does it delete all files?
Now just recent apps style to be able to change it if you want!
Gotta swipe down the left side of the screen, right one opens control center
Those big buttons for Bluetooth, wifi, data etc. is just waste of space.
Nice, thanks
MIUI 12 looks sick, iOS copy for sure, but i switched to Mi 9 from iPhone 7 so i guess it’s fine for me 😀
//
Mennyire nehéz felflashelni ha még soha nem nyúltam hozzá a telóhoz? / Mindennapi használatra (kb. csak itthon használom most a telót, szóval nem halok bele egy-két bugba) mennyire alkalmas?
Oh boy, I thought that swipe left or right would work. I will have to try and see whether it wiould fit my use. Can’t wait for [xiaomi.eu](https://xiaomi.eu) rom to come out.
this is disgusting.
You should also check out Beach OS from Rafael Henrique if you are looking for a traslucent notification panel
I want google pay support on my phone. i haven’t had successful try previously.
What you said is right, but im not afraid and i prefer using stock MIUI ROM. Yes, i used to love customizing my redmi note 3. After i get my mi max, i stop playing customize. It is not my thing anyway.
Im not complaining about app drawer, i just came to love it recently on my huawei nova 2. Not gonna lie i used to dislike app drawer because i prefer everything in home screen. After i downloaded lots of utilities/tools, i came to liked app drawer as those apps are not frequently used.
You have your own preferences, and i have my own preferences. Yes, i do love MIUI stock ROM.
Edit: I used all the stock app that came with it. Gallery instead of google photo (even tho it is pre installed), i used gmail instead of mail tho’, i also use firefox instead of chrome and browser. Is it wrong to use those because i love using it? Ex: chrome has disabled extension installation, it is heavy, and the UI is not easy to my eye. Do i need to write all the reasons why i use stock app/rom?
My first smartphone back in the day was an IPhone 3gs, I then left ios for android because I was tired of all the bs with iTunes and all of the stuff that was pushed on me. Now I awoke this morning only to find my xiaomi updated to v12.0.1 without me actively agreeing to it and lo and behold I am apparently back to ios. I only have one question, is there a way to get the old style back?
Pulldown fromTop left & right act differently
Try it
Yea. What to expect?
One of the most r\*tarded changes ever. How many times do they think people use the configs vs the notifications? it’s obvious people use notifications more often but I cannot for the love of god access them. Horrible UX.
Thanks I hate it
I hate the iOS design!
Ah some good news. I was afraid they would make it permanent
Centre is the correct english spelling. Center is the Americanised version. Would be nice to have some consitency though
How do I see the notification from the control center, am I missing something?
I still don’t know where my notifications are and it’s annoying me since my phone keeps buzzing with them
I own several Apple devices andhave owned Apple since my Dad brought home the Apple II 2e, I also have 3 Xiaomi devices. In addition, that I worked for Apple Support for 5 years and I am very knowledgeable about Apple Repair and even their history as a company.
Your statement is unfair and biased and the similarities in this case are minor,, though I do agree that some shady Chinese companies have broken international law with their widespread knock manufacturing. To be frank Xiaomi was at one time a knock company themselves. But they have evolved and have been been quite innovative over the past 3 to 4 years. In fact, Xiaomi, has created features that others now copy from them..including Apple and Google!
To go on, Apple has its own shady hisyory. For example, the whole concept of a computer graphical user interface was stolen from Xerox, and they also stole the concept of using an external pointer ( mouse ) from Xerox as well. Local file sharing became known as Apple talk was copied from a outside company and without permission.
I like that too even though it is a copy of ios control center. I find these ui changes interesting.
You’ve probably already figured it out but you can swipe at the bottomish left for the notifications and bottomish right for the control panel
Is Control Center single APK which can be installed on MIUI 11 or there is more behind the surface so that this can work on MIUI 11 like other APK’s extracted from MIUI 12?! I mean, I have installed without any issue APK’s extracted from MIUI 12 ROM (MIUI Home, MIUI Settings. MIUI Weather and few other stable APK’s) and Control Center is not showing up. I’m doing all this on latest stable MIUI 11 EEA ROM, device is Mi9 EEA version.
Yikes.
I dont like this at all. Trying so hard to look like IOS.
1st, you still can swipe from the middle of the home screen to drag down control center or notification depends on the right/left side of the screen. Watch some miui 12 hands on videos in YouTube. And yes, it’s more complicated than the usual method. I’m an iOS user too and I hate it even on the iPhone.
2nd, did you really see that screenshot?? The brightness bar is now easier to reach since it’s so low in the right. It’s literally right beside your thumb so no way it’s tougher to access compared to miui 11’s brightness slider unless you’re a lefty.
3rd, yes they “copied” iOS but at least they redesign a lil bit and it isn’t as blatant as other UI like funtouch who literally ripped every element of iOS to their UI.
I know you’ll still hate it. I won’t change your opinion and you won’t change mine. Just setting some things straight.
I’m sure I’ve seen this somewhere before…
That and dismissing notifications that remove notification badges… MIUI is the worst with managing notifications
this!
The only thing i want from MIUI 12 are app drawer and live wallpaper.
I always use stock MIUI features. Never like to install custom ROM( used to install custom ROM on redmi note 3 because i bought a china version, nevertheless i still use MIUI ROM ) or use a launcher. I dont know why.
Like you said “its not wrong to use preinstalled apps at all, they are usally just basic apps to do the job, without more functions” i use it because it does the job, if I want more, i will find it on playstore.
Like i said, i want app drawer and live wallpaper that come with MIUI 12, i DIDNT COMPLAIN current version doesnt have those. Again like u said, if i want it i can get it on playstore but i want the feature came with the updates, i can wait. Im not in rush and current version (no app drawer) work just fine.
Little did you know, using 3rd party feature to change/add feature might come faulty and it disturb the behaviour of the program. Most user who like to customize do not know what happen at the back end of the program wont notice it. They all using programmers’s program. Oh, this is not the reason why i prefer stock features/pre installed program.
P/s: I am currently using wordpad on my pc. Plus, i use the notepad that is come with microsoft to do my programming stuff. If i want more, i will download notepad++.
In case you didnt know, most companies/goverment/market still use internet explorer to do their job, why? Because it does the job. Oh, and also lightweight, stable, and compatible to everything.
Awesome. Thank you.
i was not talking about changing to custom roms at all. Stock miui is ok, i guess.
Launcher is not something special, its just an app, such like email app or theme app, or camera app which happened to be preinstalled on your phone, as “default” part of your rom.
If we all use microsoft edge for windows only because its preinstalled, what a bad life would it be. You also probably use some clone of microsoft word instead of preinstalled wordpad on pc. I say if theres something better than stock for free, its a go for me.
Why talk about waiting for some feature, when theres the feature already in reach, thats what i dont get.
edit: its not wrong to use preinstalled apps at all, they are usally just basic apps to do the job, without more functions. I know its enough for many people, its designed that way to be easy to learn with them. If you miss functions, theres always a playstore.
I hope it’s gonna run just fine on Snapdragon 6XX-powered devices.
Did you find a way of switching the notification with the control centre?
Oh then I will wait .
Can you turn off the pill at the bottom?
agree impossible to use now one handed for notifications miss old panel for that reason
Hey, how is the navigation gesture? You can swipe multiple time to go trough apps or is just swipe between 2 apps?
Okay I’m so dumb smh left side it’s notifications and right side control 🤦🏻♀️
Thanks I’ll look into it
The aesthetic is great but it isn’t user-friendly at all. Notification in the higher part of the display are really difficult to access with one hand. And another uncomfortable thing is that you can’t switch between the two views wind an horizontal swipe
Is that what the battery icon looks like in MiUI 12 or are you using a theme?
I legit tapped on my phone and I don’t even know how I did it and found it for a while second until I got out of it and now I have no idea how to see it again
Anything about the rom that makes it not usable?
/u/MartonDev
Does the Control Center version have notifications as MIUI style or Stock Android style?
I’m not talking about the Quick Settings btw, I’m talking about the notification style.
[Example](https://i.imgur.com/m4DSIw8.jpg)
I like this new Control Center version, but if it has the MIUI style notifications instead of Stock Android styled, then 🤢.
No, in MIUI 11 do not have app drawer. It is restricted to China version only
OP, are you able to edit which controls are in the squares on the top?
Not sure whats so great about this, its neither good looking nor functional
This looks horrible. Wish they copied OneUI style. ios style is arguably inferior and less usable
Xiaomi launcher has app drawer. You need to activate it in launcher settings
It was misspelled as centre but in settings it was spelled as Center. Also they need to capitalize the C in Center. Is there anywhere where I can suggest.
it’s interesting that they’ve gone back to the option of swiping down from the left for quick settings and down from the right for notifications. They used to have that ages ago (MIUI v5 definitely had it, I can’t remember if it was still around after that) but dropped it at some point in the past. Nice that they’re bringing it back, though it would have been nice if they’d come up with their own aesthetic (and name) for the control centre rather than stealing both from iOS.
it’s still there
do you access it by swiping from the bottom or top ?
theres a transloosent theme with a blur, im using it on my phone, it makes the situvation much better
WOODY DARK_DWM4, the dev has a bunch of themes with different shades of blur, u might want to check it out dev name is Fluppy
Chinese doing what they do best. Copying shit. And making it worse.
It’s fine, i’m always in for something new. Can’t wait to experience the new animations everything should look super smooth
Nice
i think for the look miui is heading towards the stock notification center feels out of place, so aslong as they allow both options to be avaliable im ok with it
Not in my opinion, they pushes all the buttons down and let them to be more accessible with one hand. This is ok but it’s not coherent with the notification tab that let the notifications to stay on the top of the display
> but it looks so much better than the old, ugly notification panel
Maybe because this isn’t a notification panel?
the blur is so fucking good. my control center is already blurred and transparent on miui 11 With a root app, but the one miui 12 is really better
Yep, I agree, I don’t see any advantage in it. To me it rather looks like an attempt to build something that looks like the iPhone thingy — regardless of how ~~f*cking ugly~~ visually displeasing it is.
Will this require a wipe from a miui 11 beta rom?
how did you get miui 12?
I dislike that immensely, if I didn’t see the comment that it can be turned off I would just flash back to MIUI 11.
It require me to to swipe from the top to access it, it slows me down, and it takes too much screen space while showing no more information than previous UI design. You used to be able to see the notification and do the switching in the same menu, now it’s two. Also the single most used control for me is the brightness. The new design requires much more finesse to achieve what I am used to.
Overall copied the iOS design that’s inferior to begin with IMO.
If you read my comment carefully you’ll realize it’s my own experience, not some thoughts based on screenshot. And yes, I use my phone mostly with my left hand. The old brightness bar is ever lower and easier to reach if you pull down twice. On the brightness control, it was a bug in the first beta that you couldn’t adjust it the first time you pull it down. Fixed on 4.30.
I like the old one 😢
Any release date for Europe ?
Leaked doesn’t mean open 😬
Just got update to MIUI 12 on P30 pro and instantly hated it. Why, oh gt why, do you need separate screens for notifications and “control panel”? Why everything new is so bad…
Hi, is there any way to customize thos big buttons… For example, change color or replace icon of flashlighta with some other.
Digging the design ngl even tho it’s pretty much copy pasted from ios
MIUiOS 12
I literally read a thread this morning about how they’re STRAYING AWAY from the IOS design, and then I see this LOL.
I actually like the current one.
But come ONNNNN MIUI, be more unique D:
It seems like no matter what trend apple makes, no matter how ugly or unintuitive, it always has to catch on.
Xiaomi Eu weekly has been based on the china closed beta build for years. It will be released on Friday at the latest
How can I access the notification center? I cant see my notifications since the update
How is it closed beta if there are download links available for bunch of devices?
Sadly not on my phone.
Yeah, they can probably restyle the old UI page with more translucent elements, but I am using third party launcher so it isn’t too out of place for me.
Hmm yes! I also believe that You are right. I have compared System UI APK’s, one from MIUI 11 and other from MIUI 12 and this from MIUI 12 is significantly bigger in size. Unfortunately this APK can’t be upgraded-installed as usual, from File Explorer. Thank You on Your answer and take in part in this “discussion”.
Guys when it is gonna be available in Europe? (mi9t)
Look horrible for me.. It feels like some free made app in the play store
Nope
And i dont have it. What you gonna do about it?
lol they ripped it out straight from iOS
People that got access were nice enough to upload them I guess.
The only thing I notice is that I can’t view the changelog, it says that my Mi account doesn’t have permissions and there’s a button below to join, but if I understood correctly it’s some sort of contest and you are awarded points, so if you get more than 80 you are in.
Can Xiaomi.eu be based on a Closed Beta ? I don’t think that so we have to wait.
nice copy pasta useful feature
> Also the single most used control for me is the brightness
Mi 9T is the first phone which I let adjust the brightness automatically. Sometimes I do adjust it manually, usually when it’s very dark, but I can tweak it without disabling the auto. It works great for me honestly.
Except it is not showing data usage like old one.
I like it too. Do you have any info about when it releases? Also how did you get the beta version?
I like the current look (if this is talking about the pull down menu in total). My stuff is easily reachable. I think it’s perfect fine. This iOS look looks cluttered, everything is too big
I actually found it like 5 minutes ago but thank you
dont wait and switch now, then come back, but you wont. Custom roms are awesome.
I mean design wise it looks nice. Not that hard if it’s just a stolen design.
And why do you think the old one looks like it was from the stone age, it looked absolutely fine.
they copy and they do it best. I love it.
Ugh it looks awful!!
