I’ve been using [Urnyx05’s port. ](https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-urnyx05/)
It includes a profile for the IMX586 the Mi 9T Pro uses, and it gets updated pretty regularly. There’s a variation of this Camara tuned specifically for the IMX586.
Does the astrophotography mode also bug when you turn your phone horizontally with that version of gcam?
Amazing shots.
GCam really makes the camera on the Mi 9T shine. I was disheartened when I got mine since I find the stock Camera to produce mediocre at best shots, but gcam fixes that in an instant.
I catched both of them 🙂
Wow, that’s wonderful. Thanks for this great shot. I hope I can travel to southern hemisphere and see these beauties of the sky.
What is gcam astrophotography mode? Is that resident in the phone?
Tripod
Im using the first one released v1 on my redmi note 7 and astrophotography mode is turned on by going into the advanced settings its at the end i think .. i usually follow this guy dor gcam works fine..

I’ll be honest, this looked like a regular old black table on first view. But then I zoomed in a little and the stars came out. Awesome picture.
Doesn’t have to be that one.
You can basically use any camera as long as it allows manual exposure.
Gcam is just for moving photos I wanted to install it but doesn’t say anything about using camera
That is rather impressive.
I did a little editing on lightroom.
Timer + flat surface
Post it to /r/space buddy!
Most phones don’t let you see a long exposure though
Maybe it crashes, because you’re using Google Photos gallery. Go to settings and turn off option “Enable Google Photos”.
Obviously slow mo and some other features crash app too, but they don’t matter that much.
Go to this site and download the first one and then go to settings advance settings then at the bottom it will have the option to turn on the astrophotography mode i have rn7 too and using the first version works fine with no bugs

Yeah it’s basically advanced filters. You alter the shadows, lights, whites. Everything colour basically.
Oh, southern hemisphere. Can you spot **Magellanic Clouds** in the sky with your naked eye?
I own redmi k20 pro.
I never could capture such pictures, how to do so?
Yeah, the darker it is, the better results you’d get with GCam. Remember that keeping the phone steady is the key to sharp night sight images. There’s also an important option in the settings which determines how many shots are combined to form the final image (usually in HDR+ settings > quality HDR+). A value of 7 or higher is recommend for high dynamic range shots in daylight and possibly at night.
Redmi note 7 have a dedicated group for photography. There you get gcam compatible with the device. And many ports have perfectly working astrophotography modes. Join the telegram group by just searching Redmi note 7 Photography.
I’m using Urnyx05 v1.8
I have the Redmi Note 7. I’ve downloaded many different versions of Gcam, but astrophotography doesn’t come up. I do everything, including going into the settings and forcing the mode to work even when the camera isn’t still. Turned on the cuttle. files. EVERYTHING. I put my phone very still on a flat surface but it just doesn’t activate. Yes, I’m on night mode. Yes, I give it time. I just use the Pro mode on the stock camera but I think the Gcam will do better.
Awesome picture. Thanks for the link. Just installed on my A1 and it looks like it work. Now I just have to wait for a Starry night.
Here you go good sir. How much for the horse?
Looks awesome
Did you do another level of photo manipulation or just uploaded it straight to reddit from the gallery? Great shots btw. Im still a newbie and learning the ways of mobile astrophotography, hoping to be able to share my photos here soon.
It’s supposed to automatically turn on when pointed at the sky in night sight mode, but you can also manually force it on in your GCam settings
Biggest flex
– Mi A2
I have moved over to Lemmy because of the Reddit API changes. /u/spez has caused this platform to change enough (even outside of the API changes) that I no longer feel comfortable using it.
Shoutout to Power Delete Suite for making this a breeze.
No it does not bug
Sorry for the late reply
ah so it’s not like this i see now
Hmm, works on my 9T.
Exactly! Here are my two original pics
They look pretty good as they are, but I can make them look a lot better with minor adjustments on lightroom, so why not?
Just found out about this GCam, unfortunately it crashes on my Redmi 5A.
As far as I know, “Camera2API” is enabled by default on Mi Mix 3. This means you can install “Google Camera” (GCam) on your phone using a simple installation file. However, to achieve such great night shots, you need “Astrophotography Mode” enabled which in only available on GCam V.7 or newer. I googled for such versions for your phone, and the first result might be worth having a look at: [XDA-Mi mix 3-GCam V.7](https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-mix-3/themes/app-gcam-7-t3980595?__cf_chl_jschl_tk__=b786cf29ce3c5b23002878ea6ef4382c2ba77c90-1577798907-0-AU7oJNNO3A9uDeYfibWc3u0x1RNHr-LKkpt4nloQZs9R4jXahjVrvhGdqtnSELCPVo9rJ3EsuLHprm_8i_nq6iCJ-euGpsYYDl8gJ4t4OTn3ebOwLs5C_O5z8Ax2WH1_ZhQx6HxQtOa5TBo3jql5-2k5AF8vTqG93CXEpfurICnawT_4x3NtW8w2LC0trU0-k81rdJWJYtM4MHY9Kdjn3Rgg4FmHQ2DoMnT6hStZB9zYTPv93HkFklevXILOGxhwxPDYuJmqYlYQVX3HjqAB4JMOY5S4H0OxwewdhiE-VyvBiLNVRem7FHbwNA7DBhbaZw) (or also [here](https://www.cyanogenmods.org/mi-mix-3-google-camera-7-0/)). Usually you need to manually enable Astrophotography Mode in GCam’s settings. Then try taking a photo with the “Night Sight” mode and it should automatically switch to Astrophotography Mode if you’re holding your phone onto a tripod or a stationary position (and needless to say, pointing toward astronomical objects)
Where do you live?
pretty cool from a smart phone
