I’m still rocking a Oneplus One, so I think that would be a nice upgrade for not a lot of coin.

The Mi A2 Lite is a Redmi 6 pro, which means headphone jack, micro usb. The Mi A2 is a Mi 6X, which means usb c and no headphone jack (these are some of the differencea between the redmi and mi lines)

It’s a snapdragon 625 phone. It’s a power effective SoC, fine for daily use but not enough for graphics-heavy games. But it’s also ageing tech now, nearly 2,5 years old.
I want the notch because I can’t afford an iPhone X, lol. Thinking of upgrading my A1 which has been working great fromt he start but has had hiccups along the way. I never experience such hiccups with ‘mainstream’ phones like my iPhone5 or Xperia Z3 Compact before it. Neither were there issues with my Blackberry.
Yeah, was thinking that as well come to mention it, it’s like, the space on the notch is a waste since it can be the screen itself and not a black space. Thanks man!

I’ve heard that unlocking xiaomi phones is kind of a pain.
Also I’m in the us, so I don’t think I’ll get 4G? It’s these two reasons that in looking at the m2.

Well there is a 360 hour waiting time before you can unlock and the unlock tool only is Windows-only but apart from that installing LineageOS was pretty straightforward. If you don’t have a problem with Miui there’s no reason to unlock it (apart from installing GCAM maybe) anyway. You should check if the global version supports your carrier’s 4g bands to be sure but I thought it covered pretty much the whole spectrum.

Major gripe is it makes the phone look asymmetrical. When playing videos in full screen (ie excluding the notch part and treating it as a rectangular screen) , the annoying black ‘ears’ will still be visible since you cannot turn off the LCD screen pixels completely. Therefore the only other option is to use the entire screen which means you have a bloody notch at the side of the video.
Developers are already struggling with 2:1 aspect ratio, now imagine putting a 3rd one into the mix.
Secondly it’s a clear attempt at copying Apple and failing miserably at it.
I also feel that a notched screen will cost more to replace than a normal one due to higher manufacturing cost

I think all Xiaomi phones with a notch has an option to “disable” the notch by forcing a dark background at the status bar. That might solve the problem you mentioned. However, that doesn’t solve the problem of the status bar having too little space to show important stuff (like notifications).
