My thought as well… but when I went to see at GSMARENA.com the specs, I was surprised to find out that they had different batteries. 3400mah would be acceptable… but 3000mah simply not.
He won’t be. It isn’t actually showing the internals.

Edit : I read about it first [here](http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/8ngo3w/-/dzvf89m). So credits to them too.
This is a special edition, the regular one is non-transparent.
I see this device works with the Verizon LTE bands. How could I make it work?
Thanks for the advice 🙂
Thanks very much for your opinion.
How does this shiny glass back not look elegant?
Its obviously not a sticker. It might be a plastic model, but its def. not a sticker.
I have to say that looks absolutely gorgeous.
What is peoples advice with regards to MIUI 10 especially for someone who has never used MIUI before ?
Would you simply recommend flashing a custom rom instead once available ?
** Serious questions too.
Wow what a cool looking iPhone X
>on-screen fingerprint reader
Especcialy with heat dissapation. If this is real the phone would overheat damn quickly and thermal throttle after Seconds playing a game.
I think everything is correct but the black socket board with the cpu etc. is fake and under it is a plastic/metal shielding the real one.
Glad you are enjoying it 🙂
July. For some reason, max, mi 8 and mi note 5 got delayed.
On the positive, sounds like they wanna put a SD 710 in it now.
300k, source Frandroid
Yes it does, unlike yours. Which normal kids toy is made out of metal and glass?
SD 845 doesn’t need a great heat dissipation solution. Max TDP is like 4W. Check JerryRigEverything’s OP6 teardown video. No thermal paste or heat pipes.
jerry will NUT all over this baby.
i just cum
doesn’t look likely, otherwise would see it under the glass
I’ll be in my bunk…
The verge is reporting that is might just be a sticker
yes, to expand notification you have to use two fingers. and once you expand those notification, it shows you actions that you can perform. You can reply in whatsapp and Instagram(you can also like that particular DM from the notification itself).
Mmm., Why should you do that.
Xiaomi responded saying it’s not a sticker 🤔
In germany its Jeff (if it was a reference to this Dating site ad.)
It’s a plastic fake cpu.
It looks like a kids toy.
The 845 is 10nm which in theory is more efficient than the 14nm 625.
Obviously it is more powerful as well but for the same task it should use less power.
I think jerry will be more than happy
Have you done an antutu benchmark?
3400 for no explorer edition and 3000mah for explorer edition :\)
I don’t quite understand the comments about the Explorer back that I see here.
So people complain that it might be fake looks on the internals, other comment that you won’t see it when using a case.
I think people have to understand that everybodys taste is different and no matter if the parts shown are fake or real it does look stunning to many as you can see from other comments here as well. There are also people that run their phone without a case (like I do with my Mi Mix 2) and are happy and interested in a design like this. And last but most importantly: It is an OPTION. Nobody needs to buy this version and I just love to see that Xiaomi is trying new things. This is how the whole market gets forward and just maybe we will see other companys pick up on this idea, improve and bring out some even better cover ideas in the future.
Just my two cents on it.
That vertical rear camera looks ugly as fuck.
Why flashing a rom? Use a launcher and individualize your appearance how you like it. You want the pure android look with app drawer? Use the pixes launcher. You wanna have it like a Samsung? Use the touchwiz launcher.
You dont need to flash anything and can change the appearance to something you like.
Nice lies Xiaomi. Now go back to your iPhone X production.
Not really it looks cool
I thought its 3400mah???
Well, I would probably not buy it if it isnt the only available option.
But…it is a glass back. Who will use it without a protecting case? And with that, you wont see it. So in the end, I personally dont care how it looks, even if it could be better (the sandstone back of my OnePlus One was and is amazing). A back that you probably wont see should not be a gamebreaker for anyone.
Thats a major let down, the explorer looks superb (even if it is fake internals showing(which is not confirmed yet)).
Does anyone know how the sd825 compares to the sd625 in terms of battery usage?
My MI A1 has only 3045 aswell, but is doing really well tbh.
Am I the only one who thinks it’s not beautiful? It’s obviously a sticker underneath the glass. I really don’t like it. This design might be ok for a Gaming Phone but this is not an elegant design by any stretch.
Xiaomi showing the way! Masterpiece!
But unfortunately, will not be my choice. 3000mah battery… simply killed it for me :-((((
One of the regular models does have those though…
I highly doubt that Xiaomi would lie about this, because it’s extremely easy to check.
Lol, really? Fake components under clear glass.. it looks like a toy, like that robot you had as kid and you could see it’s “brain”.
Tbh I cant disagree more with the other guy.
I used a lot of devices in the past going from stock android ui to sense ui and touchwiz. In my opinion MIUI is the most optically pleasing 3rd party UI.
On stable releases MIUI also mostly seems like being one of the more light weight ones on the battery. And lets not forget MIUI is getting closer to stock androids UI.
In the end its users preference, but MIUI is definitely not a dealbreaker imo.

Cool story bro. Just for you https://imgur.com/a/VvtjYlf
Thanks for that insight.
\> But unfortunately, will not be my choice. 3000mah battery… simply killed it for me :\-\(\(\(\(
same. after struggling with a phone that cant keep a charge for a day \- never again.
give me my 4000mAh minimum plz.
Yeah right, I don’t understand why would they do this ? It have made the device thicker.
Ahh that’s looking so high-tech sassy. Just loving it!
Oh noooo…
Pardon? Sorry but what you wrote doesn’t even make sense.
i guess so, but putting the soc directly under the glass isn’t a good idea imo
Who doesnt know all these kids toys made out of glass. Pathetic comment.
you do make a good point, but it looks totally badass hahaha
Can someone please tell me if it does have wireless charging ?
It will be a while until a stable custom AOSP ROM is available. For reference, the Mi 6 was released last April. Its kernel sources were released 5 months later, in September, despite the fact that they should’ve been released the second the device went on sale if not earlier.
The first AOSP based custom ROM for the Mi 6 that is stable enough for daily use is the now abandoned Atomic OS. It was released late January this year.
That means that Mi 6 owners had to wait around 9 months to actually be able to get rid of MIUI.
Stock Android is miles ahead of MIUI and while it eventually is possible to flash a stock ROM, it will most likely be a while until it’s stable enough for daily use.
Then again, if project treble is the game changer it seems to be, the whole getting rid of MIUI process will be much quicker and simpler.
Whether or not it’s a deal breaker depends on the user but personally, my experience with MIUI and custom ROMs convinced me to never buy a device that doesn’t come with at least near stock Android again.
Not a sticker, just fake plastic
Having used Miui9, lineage os and stock Android now (all on Xiaomi devices) I’m gonna say that stock Android is just great compared to MiUi. One of the things I really hated about MiUi is the way it handles notifications. Android is just really good at handling notifications stock and you don’t really have to change it, yet Xiaomi decided that it had to be more iOS like. A feature focused rom should build on great features and include more of them, not destroy them. Also it hogs up a lot of memory compared to lineage os, it’s actually a case of gigabytes being free in your phone memory. Not using MiUi for the foreseeable future, really happy with the MiA1 for now
That’s why Xiaomi keeps sticking SD625’s into things still, it’s sweet spot for being fast enough for most normal use while being very efficient. 8-series will use more battery as it’s quite a bit faster.
6000mah mi Max 3 when??.. Can’t hardly wait for it
4W in an enclosed space while overheat.
Mmmm., That’s dumb… Where is the cooling for the processor, 😃😃
ohh i see, that’d be a little disappointing i guess, we shall see hehe
Anyone knows when will this be available on the chinese market?
i’m confused, so is that the actual component or no? lol
Update May 31st, 10:05am: Updated post to include and reflect Xiaomi’s statement to The Verge that that Mi 8 Explorer Edition does showcase the actual parts on the back of the phone, contradicting the company’s earlier description of the device.
If this is your example of a common kids toy these days you must be joking.
i do think it’s not absolutely real. maybe they’re using some sort of board or something to make it look cool. cause internals don’t look this much clean.
Yeah, but 625 doesn’t have 4 large cores.
Because sometimes it’s other things like MIUI’s notorious memory problems.
it could be that they put some board on top of the actual hardware to make it look cool
Im just going to buy the regular mi8
Main thing im sad about is not getting the underscreen fingerprint reader, i think fingerprint readers look ugly with a big hole in your phone case on the back.
Also all glass casing on explorers edition sounds like a disaster waiting to happen, and i wonder the battery life comparison
