How else would you expect to do video calls with friends/family? Would you want to just stare at 4 pixels worth if face??
Or make the “camera bump” the entire back case and put a thicker battery into it. You would be surprised how many people will buy a heavier phone (without actually realizing how heavy it is until they get it) for its battery. Those Samsung phones with 5-6k mAh batteries are selling like hotcakes.

At this point just raise the whole back case and make it level again and you’ll get more space for everything else.

They would rather spend 1000 on a thin phone then slap on a glass protector and thicc case. Weird. That’s why I’ve never used both on my Mi9. Back glass is lightly scratched after 2 years but screen is still perfect.
