I love this device. It’s such a great phone. My previous device was iPhone SE 2020 and after I started using the Mi 10 it was a bit too big for me. After couple of days a got used to the size. The screen is amazing, the speed is perfect, the 90hz display is just what I needed. It really feels like a flagship phone. The haptic feedback is great. And the battery – it is endless , especially comparing to my SE 2020. I can go all the and end the day with 50% percent battery. MIUI 12 is in my opinion the best Android skin. At first I thought I should get the OnePlus , everyone is praising Oxygen OS but it felt boring . It looked like a stock Android that stuck in time. MIUI 12 feels like it’s the future, like your using a phone that is packed with all the most recent software features and tweaks.
Great experience so far.

Ah no that’s not my scenario it happens anytime without using security app.
Every time you click on optimise in security app it gets activated. Afaik there is no way we can disable that. I don’t use that optimisation options anymore as it mess my settings.
Yes I am using but honestly could not find an option to disable. Any recommendations how to?
Yeah, but the sidebar to use it is not showing up unselected apps
Its still there in special features.
I thought that mi 9 an 9t pro shared a lot of the same custom ROMs? At least the Oss based ones
Mi 9. I too didn’t have that many issues in Mi 8 (my previous device). I think a lot was added by the fact that some ROMs for this model are now abandonned (e.g. Pixel Experience) and so are instructions.
Which device is it? Luckily (or maybe not since I usually research the developer community on XDA before buying a phone) I never had such issues on my Xiaomis (so far the Mi8 and Mi9t Pro)
> On a side note it isn’t so complicated as you think to flash a custom ROM and evade safetynet eval, you have just found bad guides (or have you got a mediatek?)
My complications came mostly from needing a very specific MIUI ROM version to begin with and very specific vbmeta, which most guides didn’t include. Yes, the experience was easier with my previous Xiaomi phone, but it wasn’t great either – back then waiting period for my specific device unlocking was 6 weeks instead of 2 weeks.
Most important takeaway from all that I’ve written: most guides are wrong because they tell you to wipe vendor and system partition. NEVER wipe these partitions as flashing over them is enough and doing so causes bootloop. Also never wipe cache because it’s useless. AND always mind your encryption status, flashing a new room and booting = being encrypted, if you’re encrypted you can’t flash a new rom on top of you bootloop, to avoid encryption flash DFE after every ROM change/update (or don’t and just format data instead of wiping between ROM changes).
I’m not saying MIUI is great, I’m using AOSPA. It’s not great for other reasons and the security app is the last of those reasons. If you look into it as a power user you can see that it is just a poor way to implement a lot of the system features in one app that comes across as sketchy (after all it’s made in collaboration with clean master) but it’s still essential and unremovable not because it’s spyware (it could be but it’s not the reason) but because the system wouldn’t work without it, try to remove it with ADB and see what happens.
On a side note it isn’t so complicated as you think to flash a custom ROM and evade safetynet eval, you have just found bad guides (or have you got a mediatek?). Basically once you unlock your bootloader, should be easy, you flash the recovery, boot the recovery, format data, reboot recovery again (don’t wipe anything else before or bootloop), copy over zip files, flash rom, if it didn’t include gapps flash gapp, if you want to stay decrypted (basically if you don’t want to format data but just wipe data when changing rom) flash DFE, reboot and setup, reboot recovery again and flash latest magisk from GitHub (no other website) or downloaded through the magisk app itself (get that on GitHub too), reboot and inside magisk flash magiskhide props module, reboot, open termux and write “su props” and follow directions to enable BASIC evaltype, reboot, enable magiskhide and repackage magisk manager. Most ROMs can be safetynet basic evaltype without magisk so maybe before doing all this if you don’t care about root you can check through the magisk app or other safety evaluation apps.
I would, if it weren’t made so freakin difficult to use custom ROMs (it took just 2 days to get the right sequence for flashing custom ROM on my Mi device – any wrong sequence would just end up in MIUI bootloader not accepting custom ROM) and Google playing with hardware attestation on SafetyNet wouldn’t be random (I was unfortunate to be one of the users affected).
I don’t want to complain, there’s a lot I do like about MIUI, I just want to explain why people who dislike MIUI ROM – dislike the ROM… Stop treating MIUI like the holy grail, cause it’s not. It has it’s flaws and it’s benefits. The benefits being bigger than it’s flaws, which is also part of the reason why Xiaomi sales are growing so fast. Even if MIUI was the best ROM, that doesn’t mean you can’t talk about problems with MIUI or should be laughed at for doing so. Just cause it’s great, doesn’t mean it’s perfect.
Then install aosp lmao. It IS a core component of the system, the app permissions management itself is part of the app. MIUI is vastly different than aosp, it’s not aosp + a bunc of xiaomi’s apps. Also aosp system apps have the same unremovable permissions because of how app bundles work
Why does Security app need location? Physical activity? Microphone? Phone? SMS? Call logs? Calendar?
Why does Security app also handle Battery, game turbo and power off settings? I’m just asking, why is everything squished into one app…
And don’t tell me it’s the core component of the system. AOSP runs just fine without it, it’s just Xiaomi that makes it mandatory to have Security app working.
Are you using optimisation feature on security app? It will turn on automatic brightness when you use it.
everything is wrong with apple tbh.
fake quality is the bigegst concern. QUALITY pohone would generally last more than a year. 90% of iphone dont.
i bought a truck , i could customize it. i bought a car , i could customize it. i bought a computer , i could customize it. i bought a damn phone I CAN CUSTOMIZE IT DAMMIT !
my computer doesnt force me to buy a cable made by the SAME FUCKING compagny that sells 5 time cheaper because they dont stamp APPLE on it. i can plug the damn cable i have. NO other phone in the world force you to buy a special weirdo thing just to use ehadphone. they put a audio jack in there problem fixed ansd it work no problems sicne 30’s or 40’S….. ive seen no phone yet that try to make you think its not fixable ( it is 90% of the time , but they tell repair chop to not repair over X amount so you jsut buy a new one ). they’re ALL fixable. even the damn battery.
always in court each fucking months somewhere for the same fucking thing : forced update that intentionally slow it down so you buy the new one.
i could continue all night long since apple is really that bad pf a compagny.
but you know , apple is terrible… but sheeps are the real problem.
hey my new iphone 30 xx cost me 2000$ , is now very slow take 45 minute to boot and even calls lag with audio cut , audio doesnt work at all some days , the capacitive screen is not responsive.. its total crap.. but i want another one of thoire extremly high quality phone…… yeah those blind sheeps…
and i know they literally think like that. ive dealt with so many of them…
but like people that buy ford truck , i would be extremly shy to admit im a blind sheep and bought the biggest crap available even if EVERYONE owning one warned me to not.
those blind sheeps are the reason we still deal with such crap in 2020.
huh, i hate it when my phone’s touch sensor stops working after I place it into a bucket of gasoline, jokes aside, get that check out my dude
How is your Screen on Time by 50% or 100% of usage?
Security app has those permissions because it’s a core component of the system. It’s actually tied pretty tightly to settings and recent app view as well as other system UI elements
I think its not great for moving subjects indoor. But is there a phone that is? Maybe the pixels due to how their buffer works? (Multiple underexposed photos)
IKR. I hesitated at this cause of the fact that it seemed like it was overhyped. But at the end of the day, this was the only one available. Loving it so far.
I think it’s specific to my device
Stock screen protector so awful?
what made you leave that peice of crap called iPhone ?
please dont tell me they already released a update that intentionally slow it down so you buy the upcomming one ?
on a side note , whatever xiaomi device you buy , even the very basic and low end redmi 7a , if you picked according to your needs , you WILL fall in love with them.
ALL my friends that i made switch from apple crap to xiaomi are extremly happy.
i just cant wait for someone to wake the fuck up and stop scamming with apple crap and start selling xiaomi locally. we can have that crap every at corner and every mall so why not xiaomi…
wait untill you activate fullscreengeastures
I still have that feature on 12.0.3?
Maybe because of a screen protector?🤔
Hey you seem to have a nice battery life. Do you use the global Miui or the chinese Miui version? I don’t understand how you get this good battery life.👀
Mi9t best phone ive ever had.
But the lack of a telephoto len tho😭
I never understood the obsession with stock android. I personally hate the look of it. Its boring AF and I dont have time to download launchers and customize and tinker.
most of those useless apps can be removed, like mi brower, mi music, mi video and so on, for the trackers i use blokada, and yeah, security app having some permanent permissions is a pain in the ass, because you can’t disable them, but imo the mi 10 is a great device imo, coming from an iPhone 6s+ myself and moving to the Mi 10 felt like a different world.
I wad always curious, what is haptic feedback?
I got Poco x3 and I’ve the same review as you, super satisfied. even though this is my first use of Xiaomi and MIUI but I totally like both.
I’m also on Global ROM and haven’t seen any ads either, except on Xiaomi apps like Music.
You mean the floating windows? I hate them. I wish there was a way to turn it off. Previous in-notification reply was so much faster and easier to use on smaller devices.
just don’t update your miui to the next one. keep on using the first one you get.
Yep 12.0.6.0 Global stable version
Are you on Miui12?
What about photos of something that is moving and that are indoors? I’ve always struggled to get a decent photo of the kids if they just slightly move – just end up with a blurry photo. I’m still rocking a mi 8 so am thinking of upgrading if this issue has been resolved.
I am using Mi10 nearly 3 months and Auto Brightness turning on itself drives me crazy after couple minutes after disabled. Other than that incredible device waiting for an update or solution for brightness issue but no luck so far.
Wait till you see the downsides of MIUI. The bloat is not so visible in Global/Europe ROM, but it’s there. Oyxgen OS has less. Pixel has the least. EU ROM may not have as many ads or so, but there’s apps you can’t remove or revoke permissions. If you research this sub, you’ll find that a lot hate Security app. Security app has notification permissions and a toooon of other permissions it shouldn’t need.
But I totally agree – every time I try Oxygen OS or Pixel, the UI looks very old. Feels like going back a few years.
Pretty much. If they were to do that, Apple would face competition, OnePlus would be wrecked(subjective) and Samsung will have to keep an eye out at Xiaomi.
I agree. All they have to do is be consistent enough with it. If you don’t get what this means, you will eventually run into one of these. Just as an example, I will state this
In MIUI 12.0.2 update, I had a feature called video toolbox. But after updating it to 12.0.3, I lost that feature somehow…. smh
He was talking about the whole screen touch sensor, is misbehaving. I guess.
I got no clue what my dude is on about please explain
Oh my bad. I read it like that. But seeing that an Iphone user rating the haptic feedback is good is pretty great to hear. I have heard from YouTubers that these were “meh”. But I guess it’s just them used to it.
> Touchscreen sensor lives his own life. Very bad…
Obviously you have a problem with …ohhh …. I misunderstood it.
I said nothing about fingerprint sensor
You gotta re-register it, and register your thumbs like multiple fingers, and when you press on, change the angle of your finger slightly every time, and it will be better.
I use a Redmi K20 Pro(Mi9T) flagship killer of 2019.
I am personally pretty intrigued that you would go as far as to say the haptics on Mi 10 is better than that of the apple taptic engine. That is a really interesting opinion.
I am glad that we both have the same opinion towards MIUI 12 and Oxygen OS(though not “THE FUTURE”. I mean, others can also exist). As of feature-wise, MIUI 12 is unbeatable IMO considering the low-mid range phones they offer.
I hate it when my speaker just starts talking bro.
My mi 10 is piece of shit. Touchscreen sensor lives his own life. Very bad…
