Adapters are always needed for transitional periods. Remember PS/2? We all had adapters back then, until all new PCs and keyboards/mice came with USB.

That would make things better, put an extra C port on there and it greatly reduces the problem however until USB C headphones can be found relatively cheaply for relatively good quality give people the choice.
