\-K20 PRO with Snapdragon 855 processor
\-K20 with Snapdragon 7 series processor
The most probable price of the K20 PRO seems to be confirmed at around 360 euro.
Hypeee
Welp, I hope the chin is as thin as the one in the Mi 9. If so it will be perfect.
Wow, better specs than the Mi9? Where’s the catch??
AUDIO JACK!
Also adds an OLED screen, probably the wide angle cam… I’m fine with a pimped Note 7, it’s not like it’s a bad phone
Bump
*”The most probable price of the K20 PRO seems to be confirmed at around 360 euro.”*
Meaning for the 128gb or 64gb model? anyways tho if the price is around that, its still looks like a great specs for cheap. Like poco f1, but a lot better.
Also nice to see that they kept the 3.5mm jack. those type-c dongles suck ass.
Could you please elaborate? (Never had other Android system than Samsung’s or Apple’s IOS) I wanted OP 7 Pro but unfortunately is too big for me, so I see K20 Pro the only viable replacement.
It really isn’t a big change at all, they’re very very similar.
Miui is like stock+
Same, want a phone which has a 855 and actually a good camera
the same thing as honor and huawei.
Next year we expect a rise in xiaomi prices, while redmi remains the economic one
This!!! Flashing Custom Roms isn’t that hard 🙂
From camera standpoint, not really..it has the same configuration as Mi 9 SE..but everything is almost the same as mi 9 except battery which is bigger..
Mi 9 probably has a better (calibrated) display, better selfie cam, better speaker, etc. The small things.
Are you sure you’re not talking about the SE version ?
I jist bought note 7
I believe that the basic model will cost 360 euro
Because it was more expensive then! Nowadays almost everyone has amoled
Things get cheaper as time progresses – also probably for in display FPR since it currently only works with Oled screens
i would take aluminium back over glass any day.
Current price of the mi 9 now in Aliexpress is 360 euro ,after the launch of k20 I think its price will be around 300 euro for sure.
In-display fingerprint scanner is a stupid gimmick…
Those are some insane specs for that price, I just bought a new phone, Xiaomi why you do this to me
No plastic please.
not to mention that stock android (or stock android on pixel devices) doesn’t really perform better than well optimised roms like oxygen os and miui these days.
Why tho? It’s not far off from the competition according to DXOmark, the P30 Pro has the best mobile cam, its main sits at f/1.5 and the aux at f/2.2
That’s not even half a stop from the f/1.8 and f/2.5 of this phone, in reality that’s quite neglectable in terms of pure light transmission. Software is the bigger factor here
Because it’s important for low light videography. The S10+, for example, has a f/1.4 and is so much better than the P30 Pro when filming in low light.
You can still buy the Redmi Note 7 for around 150-200$. It’s not like Redmi is dropping the cheaper phones just because the K20 (Pro) exists
Weak loudspeaker in earpiece plus bottom firing speaker.
Any info on LTE bands? Getting these devices in the US is awesome, but only the Mi Mix is really set up for all the LTE :/
The average user is a non tech savvy person who probably doesn’t even know gcam ports exist and choose more based on advertising, buzzwords in the spec sheet and how the phone looks than what kind of value it represents.
That being said, you are correct about the average phone enthusiast assuming photography isn’t their top priority.
Camera may improve with coming revisions, bigger battery and NFC are a big plus and cheaper than the Mi 9
Kinda disappointed with the aperture… Won’t be a great low light camera unfortunately.
250$ at the end of the year – certainly not at launch
Afaik K20 pro has mi 9 SE’s cameras, like Poco F1 has mi 8 lite’s cameras (or mi 8’s cameras, idr). Plus, fast wireless charging, glass build and lower weight is a perfect premium package. They aren’t sabotaging its flagship.
If the price seems too good then it’s probably too good to be real. I’m fairly confident that it is 360 euros without taxes. With taxes, at least in Italy, base model will be more towards the 450 euros, more in line with the Mi 9.
imo miui with poco launcher and spending 5 minutes disabling the extra memory clean, antivirus, ect… notifications makes a very compelling android experience
Also remember that they like to make models for offline vs online sales, honestly I see the mi line as trying to compete with one plus while redmi competes with honor
Pro, 8+128, glacier blue. I’m ready.
actually this page has always been true ,
was the first page to say on the 28th, when everyone was saying 20
They won’t, they seem to be using the same camera assembly as the mi 9se. Also, I don’t think anyone other than one plus has used that 48mp Sony sensor with ois.
Plastic or glasstic is actually good for a budget product. Keeps price down, better data/wifi/bt reception and lower SAR value.
I think plastic just feels too cheap. I feel the best happy medium is just aluminium, premium enough, looks and feels nice and it’s resistant.
Lol apple is just gonna also a new CPU and call it a new phone.
Oh wait…
Same!
6th generation optical fingerprint sensor? Not even exists that cuantity of phones with an optical sensor yet, I think.
Between 1.4 and 1.8 is around 2/3 of a stop, that’s definitely not rendering this phone unusable for lowlight. We are not even talking one stop here, that’s an easy post fix. In this area the software processing is much more important, especially regarding FPN and general signal to noise ratio.
f/1.4 vs f/1.5 is at best 1/6th of a stop, depending on the actual transmission they might even be the same. I suggest to check on what those numbers actually mean.
And you are comparing a phone that’s around twice the price, which is also a bit off somehow.
If you go by this logic even the K20 will be available for cheap here. It’s about the relative difference in price.
Yeah … I dont think i like the extra step…might be better on the side or on the back
Might go for the zenfone 6 … But will have to see…
It’s well known that prices fall below MSRP a few months after the phones release. If mi9 is superior to the k20 then k20 should have a lower price than mi9’s street price.
Dreams.
which model doesn’t have the glass back ?
Most recent Umidigi phones such as the F1, F1 Play, S3 Pro, A5 Pro
The sensor is just one part of the camera. There is also the issue of the quality of the lenses in the camera module (just like SLR cameras), and whether there OIS. The cheaper lenses will not produce pictures that are as sharp/detailed.
Flash it
Yeah sadly is like that https://www.miuruguay.com.uy/producto/pocophone-f1-6gb-64gb-graphite-black/ . Thanks il wait for it 🙂
That’s a lot of things to change while just slapping a SD855 in note 7.
Anything around $150? Redmi has always been the budget line up. Please don’t do this. Also, the cheapest budget Snapdragon 820 was 250$ two years ago. I don’t think there was a 40% inflation.
for 360 euros you’ll not get glass back, slightly less better cameras, less better look and feel and speakers
Yeah im defo gonna get the k20 pro by the looks of it my first xiaomi phone. Also yeah
Wait for this one, most likely same price, better camera and processor, one extra year of updates and a 2019 fresh design.
That colour is also sick! I’d love a white version most, but I think the three we have are all nice
Welp..now I’m low key regret ordering mi 9 se 2 days ago..need new phone for upcoming Eid lol
I went from 6P to Mi A2 and enjoying the phone quite a bit. Been using stock Android for so long I’m scared to try Xiaomi or anyone else’s UI.
For me the phone has killer specs but the software is not for me. I just return the mi mix 3 the software was killing me I was having so much issue with notifications was driving me nuts. I could not get the the notification to show on the lock screen no matter what I did so I had to unlock the phone just to see what they where. Waiting on the one plus 7 pro to get here if they would get a phone with this specs running Android one I be back in a heartbeat. The mi mix 3 is a great phone if you can deal with miui
Sorry regarding assuming you are someone different, didn’t check, my bad 🙁
That’s my point: the processing is much, MUCH more important than the actual aperture, at least looking at these numbers and about “significance”.
Xiaomi is still on #8 of DXOmarks list, and while the “usual suspects” are rated better that’s far from bad, nor a sign of bad image processing in general. Many Google, Huawai or Samsung phones score worse.
Judging a lens only by the aperture is a bit wild to me, sorry. Especially when we discuss such numbers – f/1.8 vs f/1.75? Seriously? That’s more than neglectable even in high-end photography. And of course other phones can perform worse or struggle, because the aperture is not the main issue and the f-number (again) doesn’t necessarily tell you anything about the actual transmission.
And an aperture is not linear, the difference between /1.4 and /1.8 isn’t the same as e.g. f/2 and f/2.4.
So talking significance – you think that example image is a significant difference? So a breaking performance hit?
You are right, BUT there is gcam and camera 2api is unlocked!!! Yessssss!!! Glorious algo and nightsight
Software is easily as important if not more important on Smartphones nowadays
Also P30 PRO is so shit when filming…
EDIT: ok filming might not be the best
wireless charging, glass build, more premium look, if you’re looking for this the mi line is where you go
So uhm whats the price of these phones?
GSMArena says it has stereo speakers…. Would that be likely? I mean, it seems a bit too unreal.
Well, 450 USD for poco F1? In my city, it’s just about 260 USD 😂.
yes there are a few subtle differences which an average user wouldn’t even notice, with a good gcam apk it will be more than fine in my opinion, hell I’m using gcam on my OnePlus 3 and still amazed how great pictures it can take
How long between Chinese and Europe release?
Gcam with this sensor will be awesome but yes OIS would be nice but unlikely at the price they’ll sell at
Yes, one stop is defined as double the light, so the same as doubling the ISO or reducing the shutter speed by half. First, the difference is not as much as it sounds, 2nd, the difference between f/1.4 and f/1.5 (which was named as the prime example between S10+ and P30 Pro) is so tiny it might even be completely neglectable in pure light transmission (because the f-number doesn’t automatically translates to that).
So between f/1.4 and f/1.8 is 2/3 of a stop, not significant (in actual reality), but trusting GSM arena the S10+ isn’t even at f/1.4, but f/1.5. So the same as the (so much worse?) P30 Pro, what a coincidence. So between f/1.5 and f/1.8 is around half a stop. Look at this image, which is an actual image of the S10+: https://i.imgur.com/I6dbBKx.jpg can you guess how many stops the right one has less? Significant is something different in terms of light loss.
Ok, but then it has to have someone more for example higher resolution screen or something else because now Mi9 stars at 450€ and this for 360€ for exactly same specifications + K20 has bigger battery.
>poco launcher
But A2 is not MIUI, it’s also “stock”/android one.
Never posted here but I’m in for my first phone from xiaomi.
I’m so hyped!
camera, build quality and design, some smaller features like wireless charging, mi 9 probably has higher quality parts too (I would guess a better screen might be the most noticeable difference in terms of parts) and they might bin their chips and put the better ones in the more premium phones like the mi 9, mi mix 3 5g and mi mix 4 when it comes out.
I second this setup, I prefer it over stock android.
I went from a Nexus 6p I had for over 2 years to a Mi Max 3 and I’m not missing anything about the 6p and stock android.
No glas is a plus on my side 🙂
gimme flame red now
it’s just a way to take other customers, like me. therefore the profit remains in the xiaomi / redmi house
I was saving for poco f1 (in my city is like 450usd), i want one phone to last 2 years? (Probably, i take much care with the phones. Still didnt break screen or fall to ground any phone)
But now should i wait for this or not? My friend told me that i’l be fine with poco since it have a good procesor and im not going to have problems referring to speed. Sorry for bad english and thanks in advance for tips and help, have a nice day.
I’m with you bro
Thanks that would be great 🙂
Yeah. Wait a bit.
I guess that it is oriented for people who want to cheap out and buy Redmi 7 and may cash out a few extra bucks to buy this because of its value 🤔
Same sensor but different aperture and obviously different software compared with pixel 3.
I don’t get it. It is directly competitor to Xiaomi Mi9. Why are they sabotaging their flagship ?
Lol, Xiaomi is just going to slap a SD 855 on a Redmi Note 7 Pro chassis, remove the teardrop notch and install a pop up camera and call it the K20.
Edit: Okay, I get it. It’s not an upgraded Note 7 Pro.
Infact I’ll willing to place a bet they won’t have OIS
I’m starting to get afraid that hype will kill this phone…
https://www.kimovil.com/en/where-to-buy-xiaomi-mi-9-global
seems like a very good package if the price is also right… it’s a shame that the supposed “android one leak” wasn’t true after all (if this information is correct) but you can’t have it all i guess…
hope so !
Does anyone know if it will have a sd card slot? I can’t really find something about this
Funny, most super wide lenses there are suck balls (speaking photography world). Sure, it’s probably better, the truly deciding factor lies in the processing still. As the f-number is directly related to the focal length, the difference is constant so the loss in light too, so in relation it doesn’t matter if we talk smartphone or middle format, the “significance” stays the same.
The image on the right is litreally only darker, as it’s the representation of what one stop means. It’s one stop of light, not even the half stop we discuss here. I’m having a hard time calling that significant; processing is.
Those specific metrics from DXOmark root from their heritage, and I share the same heritage so I kinda like the tests; gives me a better idea than most generic ones that get called for often. “Beating” in general is quite subjective in photography, more so in smartphones it seems (especially regarding the filtering of the image).
You can’t compare the aperture of a lens alone when talking about two entirely different systems and processings, that makes no sense at all. What you need to do is a common ground when you want to compare the transmission, not the same sensor in two entirely different systems. If at all, only if there was an untouched raw coming from it, which smartphones don’t provide (even in camera2 API). So I remind you of that example I showed you. That’s one stop of light. Yes, it is a simulation, but that doesn’t change the amount of light. That’s a difference, but not a significant one.
but in any case those characteristics at that price must absolutely be bought
Kimovil give you coupons when you click. Yesterday that I had checked the price on bangood was 358 with the coupon. Today it might change. The price will fluctuate again.
Since it’s 20mp, I’m assuming it’s the same selfie camera from the Mi 9
Not really, xiaomi has a very granular product line but it seems to be working out for them. Their premium phones are usually branded under the mi mix name, the more traditional flagships (the ones with a glass sandwich design, good camera, no headphone jack, wireless charging, ext…) are the normal mi devices, then there’s pocophone which seems to be merging with redmi and they sit in the “flagship killer” category (with features like a big battery, flagship specs, headphone jack, but lacking the more premium design, build quality, camera and smaller features like wireless charging from the mi and mi mix line up)
And then there’s phones like the mi 9se and mi 8se which aren’t really flagships but include a lot of the features one might look for in w flagship with a midrange price. Those features being : 700 series chipsets which will be indistinguishable from a flagship processor for the great majority of the people buying these phones (unless you’re doing some heavy gaming/ video editing on your phone or need to redcord high quality high frame rate 4k footage), a decent camera compared to other slightly cheaper midrange phones, oled screen and most notably a flagship design and build.
Better sabotage your own flagship with your own phone than letting the competitors do it 🙂
Most probably a hybrid sim slot.
8+128GB 😍
Don’t forget better camera, k20 uses the same camera assembly as the mi 9se which is good but falls somewhere between a flagship and a midrange camera.
So if they could include amoled screen + more features for 300, why didn’t they do it with poco.
Hype indeed. I hope there will be a 6/128GB version of the normal K20. I dont need a 855, just something to play FGO on without lagging and my Redmi 5 Plus isn’t really cutting it.
Mi max 4 – 7,2 inches ….
Poco f1 uses same sensor on pixel 3, and mi8
My question is what is the use of a pop up camera implementation if there is going to be a noticably big chin?
Realme X
I hope they have an android one version of this.
Did i mention about image quality?
Well in my case like I said I don’t get the notification I try everything and still. Also even though I had iPhones last one I had was the x I hate not having an app drawer. No Google feed on the left page. I know some of it is easy to fix with a launcher had the Nova and the Poco was not happy with miui I feel like I change something in the settings and the action does not work like it should. Was feeling like the settings where there just to be there. Like I said this is my opinion some people like it some can deal with it if I pay 500 bucks I need to like it not just deal with it.
Sure, but that’s always the case. The Mi 9 is currently priced at about 360€-370€ when buying from China, which is about 2,500 CNY, while the official price is at 2,999 CNY (~390€).
The Xiaomi CEO told in January, that their Redmi is aiming to release a 2,499 CNY flagship device. So given that statement and the recent rumors/leaks, it seems pretty likely that the K20 will cost somewhere between 2,499 and 2,999 CNY, which is about 325-390€.
But yeah, from a local shop it will be obviously more expensive. While the Mi 9 is officially priced at about ~390€ in China, its official price in Europe is 449€. If the rumors are true, I’d expect it to cost about 399€ in Europe.
But one can always order from China, for a cheaper price.
Checked them, kimovil indeed says 358 but actual in-store prices are 380
They’re using the camera assembly from the mi 9 se, that’s nice.
The mi9 can be bought for 360 Euros from bangooood.
