Just visited a Xiaomi shop in Beijing and saw this beauty

Not sure, didn’t ask sorry.
Did the sliding mechanism feel easy to operate? I was just reading Gsmarena’s hands on, which said that the phone’s very slippery so you have to grip it tight to use the slider, but that the case included in the box works fine.
It’s the same price as the 6t, I’m gonna for the 6t actually cause I’m not a huge fan of MIUI tbh. Especially the chinese edition, which has even more bloatware.
Nearly everything is working, expect Slow-Mo, even Night Mode is working which surprised me.
I meant that the included case supports the sliding mechanism.
Same, but I still ordered a skin because I can’t stand the fingerprints and smudges.
Uhh sorry didn’t ask, but yeah they probably do because they usually have all the accessories available in the shop
no magic 2 tests by now so we can’t compare, wide angle cam is a real deal breaker for me as a former g6 user. Currently I own Mix 2s so no need to change … also Mi8 and mix2s will get new software and the hardware is basically the same as mix 3.
every version had ceramic back
I think it’s just the reflection.
Wasn’t the mi mix 1 like 4400mah?
Such a shame that it’s getting worse with every generation
The back is ceramic m8
What’s the problem? Just make it THICKER
> better cameras
No chance of that. If by “better” you mean “more versatile” then yes I’d agree, but in terms of raw image quality there’s no way the Magic 2 is going to match the MIX 3.
I like their silicone cases its soft and thick enough to prevent shock, not judging the included cases but its always an “okay” quality
It’s extremely snappy, even snappier than my OnePlus 5T. This one has 8gb + 128gb storage. The slider mechanism is a little weird but you probably get used to it, and the overall feel is very good. The glass back is just pointless, smudges like crazy and probably needs a case or dbrand skin. 3600 yuan = 530$
Would there happen to be a version that has a full ceramic body?
Nice. Can you run gcam properly? Is the camera stuff working?
Cool, but still a huge fingerprint magnet. Couldn’t distinguish it from glass tbh
IMHO not a good look. I hate the afro.
Some more pictures of the phone, including the back of the device https://imgur.com/gallery/HbhvS1k
Damn, really tempted to buy the Mix 3 now. MIUI is the only thing holding me back, really need a solid LOS support for me to switch.
I know, I was wondering if they have a better case for it
Ah I see, did they sell the 8/256 ones?
Oh at least that. I thought that was a permanent thing.
No
But I thought you just said the Magic 2 has better cameras?
The sensor on the Magic 2 is straight up worse than the MIX 3 in every aspect but the megapixel count. Huawei’s software algorithms aren’t trash, but they aren’t very good either with their constant oversharpening problems and unnatural colors. Without the massive IMX600 sensor found in the P20 Pro and Mate 20 Pro to back it up, I’ll say it again – there’s no way the Magic 2 is going to be better than the MIX 3 in terms of raw image quality.
I think ceramic version is the most expensive one
That was the deal breaker for me too. I don’t spend 500$ to have a downgrade on battery capacity. I’m still on a redmi 3s with 4100mah and I really wanted to upgrade. Guess I will wait another 6 month
Just bought the 8gb 256 model and couldnt be happier only problem is that im.still waiting to flash the global rom
At least it includes a wireless charger.. Great solution for some people, I’m more worried about how cases are gonna work with the slider.
But yeh, smaller battery is tipping me towards the 6T, but then I’m not sure I wanna bother with (pay for) 1st gen in screen fingerprint readers.
Nothing ever ticks all my boxes.
What I really want is a ‘Pro / S’ version of the Mi Max lineup, big screen and battery with no notch/slider just want a nicer camera/gpu/nfc/qi
You’re out of control
My bad, the earlier versions had the ceramic as the most expensive option
I dig the naked smartphone but I got oily skin and hands, it would never stay clean.
It looks like it has curved edges…or is that just the reflection of the light?
Saw them basically in every xiaomi store in Nanjing.. Sadly noone got the 8/256gb version that got all the bands :'(
TIL you guys use Celsius.
Anyway, thank them for me, please. I’m in love with my Redmi Note 5.
I don’t want to argue over a case, I like their silicone cases I just want to know if they made one for the Mix 3.
It’s actually a type of ceramic. Overall I think it’s superior than glass except for the similar smudging issues.
Doubt there will be a Xiaomi flagship with a 4100mah+ battery.
> Rocking my Mix 2 without the case for almost six months now and I can’t spot a single scratch.
Me too, I wish I could say the same about the front though, the back is pristine but the screen hast a couple of very deep scratches.
I wish they would make more phone with ceramic backs. I don’t think I would buy a phone with a glas back seen how many scratches the front glass has.
Entire world does, except USA and 3 smaller countries.
They should rebrand it as a fidget phone
How do you know that the included case isn’t good and there needs to be something better?
Glass ? I thought it was ceramic..
This one is at Changying, line 6. I didn’t ask if it can be bought, just assumed it can be since they have it on display as well as the price. I’m waiting for the 6t actually, this one just grabbed my attention today.
Exactly the reasons why I asked OP if they, Xiaomi, sell another case for the Mix 3 because of the sliding mechanism
i meant better usable cameras … and I’m almost sure honor will do very good photos .
Yes, thats why im thingking buying huawei maye 20
In which store have you been? Because i was in the store at the Haidianhuangzhuang Station and they told me that i still have to wait for half a month until i can buy it.
Here however special care must have gone into the case’s development because it must support the slider.
Then you have a huge group of people angry about a thicker phone.
Yep realized that from the comments, my bad.
According to Gsmarena’s hands on a case is included in the box.
Pretty sure it has a very slight curve on the back, but not on the display no.
Its a good thing for people with seldom selfie activity
My Mix2 runs Android P perfectly fine, no bugs.
They sell them in those stores. Your typical brick and mortar store where they sell everything, from phones to air purifiers and tvs.
Isn’t the Mix series pretty bad in custom ROM scene too? There’s still no Lineage OS for Mi Mix 2s. Mi 8 has lot of bugs too.
The sliding mechanism probably takes away from battery space.
Yeah I thought too.
Wouldn’t be a Xiaomi if there weren’t enough variations to confuse the shit out of us.
Haww
Honor Magic 2… better cameras ,little more battery and … in screen fp reader… tough choice…
Ugh lucky you! Did they sell their own silicone case for the Mix 3?
Yeah it’s kinda weird to operate, very slippery and you need to grip the top part in order to pull the mechanism out so not really practical.
Kirin = shelf
the case for my mix2 cracked at stress points… low quality
Now I’m waiting for the Mi Mix 4 which has no frame around the display. 😛
It’s only Mix 2s that has a limited amount of custom roms, likely because devs who bought Mix 2 found it not enough of an upgrade to be worth getting.
Why tho. I know a meaningful number of people who would rather want their phone thicker just for the extra battery. Some even complain about the thinness. I’m sure there’s a market for thicker phones.
3200 battery no thx xiaomi purposely doing this so we shell out for the mix 3s
