We have stink bugs where I am. I don’t think touching them is bad cause I’ve picked them up several times, however, if you accidentally happen to crush them, they smell bad, hence the name.

I don’t think I vomited once in my life after smelling a stink bug, I remember when I was 13 y.o and I was at my grandparents and happened to smell one of them, and I am not even joking it was smelling exactly as Sprite soda 😐
