Picked up the Mi 10 Ultra here in Hong Kong from a reseller. It’s the Chinese edition but Xiaomi made it so easy to install google play that it isn’t an issue for me. Only app (that I use) that doesn’t work currently is Netflix and DJI Fly. I am coming from a OnePlus 7 Pro and the form factor is almost identical. But the Ultra’s camera amazing. If you have seen the video by mrwhosetheboss he mentions that the only downside is the macro but I disagree. There is a macro option in the camera settings at it worked perfectly for me. AMA if you have specific questions and I’ll be happy to answer to the best of my ability! [Pics](https://imgur.com/a/ULYVVZM)
[Here](https://www.flickr.com/gp/47723824@N04/1T603F) are more sample pics and videos taken today.
I’m OP7Pro user as well. The only thing that stops me from buying Mi10 Ultra is MIUI. There were so many minor issues that aren’t big deal at all but they affect the overall experience. OxygenOS is just much more cleaner and faster. I miss that wireless charging of my previous mix3 tho 🙁
Will you flash eu rom on it ?
how do you rate the 120w charging? i think rn ultra is the one and only phone with that despite oppo annoucing it first
I’ll probably flash the EU or global rom eventually but for now the Chinese rom is fine. I hear you about the oxygenOS. I do appreciate the lack of bloatware too but I’m also the sort of person that enjoys the quirkiness of Miui so I can see why it’d be an issue for you. I think the biggest pull for me is the camera. I think the oneplus 7s camera has improved leaps and bounds but the ultras camera is just a joy to use.
It’s ridiculously fast. I was on 15% yesterday and plugged it in to go warm up some food. In about 6 or 7 minutes it went from 15 to 48%. I know some people worry about the longevity of the battery with quick charging but I don’t feel it’s affected my oneplus (yet).
I´d buy but there´s huge hole in the screen.
I suppose that is the biggest step down from the Oneplus, other than the camera. Personally, it doesn’t bother me. The bloatware would probably be a bigger annoyance over all.
I am surprise why DJI Fly app is not working. It won’t install or it crashes?
Can you notice the differences in screen quality between OP7Pro and Mi10Ultra ?
Can I be honest here? I don’t really notice the difference between the 90 and 120. Both screens are excellent. I’m also not a huge gamer so maybe differences are more visible in other apps that I don’t use.
On the Google play store it says next to the Netflix and the fly app that this app isn’t compatible so I can’t download it. I haven’t tried using an apk. I’ve had this before with dji when getting new phones. I’ve had it using the DJI go app, I think they’re slower to update for new phones.
What about the resolution? FHD+ vs. 2K ?
GCam mods gonna be lit on this.
While video recording can you switch between lenses? On my Mi Note 10, I can’t switch from Ultra Wide back to the 1x lens or 2x lens while recording.
You can turn it of completely.
https://gadgets.ndtv.com/mobiles/features/miui-11-disable-ads-block-spam-bloatware-redmi-xiaomi-phone-how-to-2216277
Miui12 is in my opinion one of the most slickest Android based ui.
It’s probably the DRM support level. Could be fixed with a software update, maybe not if the note 10 ultra is China-only…
I’m also a Mi Note 10 user and this bugs me. My old LG V20 could do this with a Snapdragon 820, so I find it hard to believe the processor is the limitation here
Which version did you get? Black, silver or transparent ? My silver one is on its way via DHL…
Just tried it and it would appear that you can’t. I can start at wide angle and do digital zoom but no switching lenses.
Transparent all the way! Hahaha looks crazy but I love it. You?
Silver. I see that. Sorry! Also looks nice. Better than the plain black imo
Cheers for that! Any suggestions on where safe places to get apks? The sites that host them always seem so shady.
I usually use apkmirror, it’s safe.
Damn, that pics is sick.
How much it costs in USD?
Actually I haven’t really seen any ads, but some of the Chinese software is hard to disable. The Mi AI is an annoyance and I haven’t figured out how to turn it off or at least switch to Google assistant. Haven’t looked too hard though. There may be an easy way…
I paid 7000hkd (a mark up from the original price) that translates to 900usd. The original price is 6000yuan or 867usd (this is for the 12gb +256 version that I got). Cheapest version is 8gb + 128 and that costs 766usd.
Side note: surprised no one noticed or commented that one of the wide angle shots has my finger in it. Because the wide angle lense is so low on the body, wide shots always seem to catch my fingers in them.
soc makes a difference too
Watching Netflix now. Apkmirror worked a treat. Cheers again!
with custom ROM this could be bought for everywhere, and no software restructuring due to region
How horrible is the screen curvature compared to the 7 Pro?
The screen curvature is almost identical in my opinion.
Ugh, and I almost had my hopes up.
Here’s to hoping the Mi 11 removes that useless fad
Thanks!
Can you provide a link kind sir? I’ve never been able to use the ultra wide lense
Ha! Well I had the original Mi Mix year ago when I lived in Shanghai so I’m used to MIUI for the most part. For me, I was interested in the camera first and foremost but it’s definitely more of a polarizing software experience than stock android or OxygenOS.
That’s just like your opinion man.
I got the Note 9 Pro and tried a GCam port. I saw no difference in picture or video quality vs the stock camera app. 🙁
Do you have any evidence to back this up? I’m 99% sure this is not true.
Man. everyone has opinion about it. There’s people love miui there’s people don’t…..I personally like stock Android and miui is also great specially miui 12, they just need to optimize the os which is possible since miui 12 is still new, there’s a lot of space for improvements. So all in all people have their own thing bruh..
(I suck at explaining lol)
You have to wait, because this phone not available in other countries, only in china.
I’m so jealous of people who got this phone
How much did you pay for it?
Ah yeah you’re right! Didn’t notice that before. I think this is the widest ultrawide on a smartphone?
That’s still better priced than Mi 10 Pro in EU, so it’s pretty nice.
Oh, you glorious motherfucker…. I hate you!
I also noticed on MrWhosTheBoss that he mentions using both front and back camera in unison to record a video …. I used to have that on LG G3 long time ago and loved that gimmick. Awesome to record yourself and the track when you go on some rollercoaster or something.
Did you try it, does it work?
Are you the guy I’m talking to on Carousell? If so, stop low-balling me! Lol
It’s very possible the phone is SafetyNet compliant. My Redmi K30 Pro is, as it came pre-installed with Google Play Services (even in China!).
I did use the gcam on my redmi note 9 pro and it worked the night shots are way better
Mi AI can be removed with the Xiaomi ADB and Fastboot Tools which you can download here:
https://github.com/Szaki/XiaomiADBFastbootTools
Standard Android gestures work just fine on my K30 Pro. which is buttery smooth in every way.
Can you let me know which version of GCam you use for your phone? The one I use on my redmi note 9s, it crashes a lot..
Play Store is super easy to download (you download the Google Play store via Xiaomi’s Store). English language is available when you set it up but there are lots of apps that are Chinese language only (I disabled them, or put them in a folder to be ignored). There are an incredible amount of preinstalled Chinese apps but you can delete the majority of them with only a few Xiaomi apps that can’t be deleted. I tried Google Pay and though it set up correctly, and I set it as my default pay app it kept jumping over to the Mi Wallet. I’ll try to fix it but it didn’t work 20 minutes ago.
I was in the market for a new phone, but I’ve been unimpressed by new releases (and unwilling to pay the mind-boggling price that Samsung is asking for their note). Saw a few vids of this on youtube and on a whim went to see if it was available. Pretty fortunate that I’m just across the border from the mainland! Fingers crossed Xiaomi changes their mind and releases a global version.
Still too new for me to give you an accurate answer. I spent most of the day inside since I’m working from home right now. Was on my laptop and the phone was on wifi for the day, with me only occasionally checking the news and reddit. Unplugged this morning at 7AM, it is 6:33PM now with 3 hours of screen on time. 59% battery life left. No charging during the day.
900 usd for the 12gb + 256 transparent version.
Yes… your jealousy gives me power….!
Do you have a link to the mod and XML you were using?
Yes it does. I used that k30 pro only model for a month. But the redmi note series lacks that
I did try it, and it does work! It has 6 cameras on the options screen all working simultaneously so you can see which two you want to choose. And yes! I remember that. I think I had the old G4 and it had it. I have had too many phones…
I’ll have to find someone a little more tech savvy than myself to do that. Looks simple enough but I’m sure I’d screw it up! Thanks for the info.
Nope sorry
You make it sounds like all GCam mods are the same… they are definitely not 🙂
Give it a year or so before your S20+ has a Gcam port that is actually good.
:-))))) …he’s becoming stronger!
I think MIUI12 seems better than the previous ones to be honest. App drawer in the stock launcher now too.
I think it might be. It’s ridiculously wide. If you shoot wide angle in portrait mode you’ll undoubtedly include your finger.
Yeah, I’ve got a question: why did you feel it necessary to tell the whole world that you’ve just bought a phone?
I have no life and seek validation from others. Why do you come to this post and ask this question?
You can use ultra wide and macro [This one by Urnyx ](https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/cfiles/gcm1/GCam_7.3.018_Urnyx05-v2.1.apk)
> Widevine L1 certification
No idea. How can I check?
OK, got the info – it has Security Level L1.
Max HDCP level is HDCP-2.3
Different DSPs, Qualcomms is much better than mediateks
Poco F2 Pro has a flat screen and no notch, if you’re wanting a SD865 phone with MIUI
60 Hz though.☹️
Yeah, I wish it was at least 90hz. But since I bought it I’ve been loving the battery life on it so much more than my Mi9, lasts 3x as long with heavy usage
Lol. Image quality on Mi9 with GCam is much much much better than with a default camera app. Much sharper, better colors, better contrast
Dangit Xiaomi! Thanks OP for checking for me.
My pleasure. It’s been fun answering random questions like this. I’ve actually learned more about my phone today answering questions than I probably would have after a month of owning it! 😅
Usually Gcam mods are a fantastic addition for selected features, especially low light portraits, astrophotography mode and ultra ultrawide pics using the 9 pic photo sphere mode.
I think the one on my old LG G5 was even wider, but not my much.
Can you please take night mode pics, especially with the ultrawide? I’m a huge sucker fornuktrawides and this one looks so excellent I might buy the phone.
Why you being such a see you next Tuesday?
>Unfortunately cheap phones are artificially crippled
Hey, could you elaborate? I’m honestly interested
It’s more noticeable indoors or in low light
Damn that pic looks sharp as hell, that phone is sick
I just took a couple from my balcony but please don’t expect much. It’s late so I just ran out to take a couple. I think the lens may be a little smudged too. I’ll take more tomorrow, good excuse to go for a long walk. [Pics](https://imgur.com/a/4j2IFUe)
Whoa!!!!
Ok, I’ve got lots of questions as a photographer because there are zero reviews that actually talk about the cameras in any kind of individual sense.
It would be AMAZING if you could answer these for all the serious photographers interested in this phone.
\- There should be RAW and full manual control on all four cameras, right?
\- Focus peaking on all four cameras in both photo and video?
\- Highlight warning on all four cameras in both photo and video?
\- Is exposure bracketing and focus bracketing possible?
\- Is rack focus possible?
\- LOG video for all four cameras? (NOTE: I tested out a Note 9 and the LOG option was available on all four cameras, but the moment I actually selected it the camera automatically switched to the main camera. So no, LOG is only available on the main camera on the Note 9 I tested)
\- Live histogram on all four cameras in both photos and video?
\- Can you select the recording bitrate for video on all four cameras? If not, anyone know what the bitrate is for 4K video?
\- Ok, this is a big one. Can you download the Camera2 Info app and paste and share the results on Pastebin? This will show developers which cameras and features can be available in their apps.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hvt.camera2test
https://pastebin.com/
\- Do 3rd party apps like Open Camera and Filmic Pro Evaluator only have access to the main camera?
\- GCam ports still have access to all four cameras using the “Auxiliary Cameras” feature in Gcam, right?
\- The ultrawide camera is the one closest to the center of the phone, right? This worries me a lot because it may mean that it’s impossible to use *any* gimbal on this phone when shooting with the ultrawide camera because the phone clamp (which must be clamped to the center of the phone) will be in view of the ultrawide lens. Can you confirm that a center phone clamp will most likely show up on ultrawide shots?
Non-Camera Questions:
\- Due to the curved screen, are there problems with installing tempered glass screen protectors and touch sensitivity afterwards?
\- Have there been any battery life issues when using the super fast charging capabilities?
\- Have there been any issues with running the phone with 100% Western english apps? Mine is going to be coming from China with the Chinese OS.
Oh man!I’ll try to answer your questions tomorrow. Unfortunately it’s bed time here in HK.
Thanks man! You’ll be a saint if you can do this. There are literally zero reviews that go through the cameras properly – they review the phone like it’s one single camera which is completely non-sensical because it has four separate camera systems and not all of them have the same features enabled for each one. It’s so frustrating!
Thanks so much! If these are low effort with a dirty lens then wow. In terms of ultrawide the MI 10 Ultra seems to be absolute top tier. I’ll need to have a look at one myself soon. Looking forward to your pics tomorrow. Cheers!
You have to make tweaks and fiddle around the settings a lot to get a desired result. Also depends on whose GCam port you’re using. I’ve 3 GCams installed in my Note 3. One for Daylight photos one for Night time and portrait and the other one for Video recording.
I tried it and didn’t see much difference with the port I was using.
My phone is a Chinese market phone just like his. GMS itself comes pre-installed on at least some Chinese domestic models of Xiaomi phones and only requires the installation of the Play Store and Google Account Manager, along with a VPN if you’re actually in China, to become fully functional. Since GMS itself is not beiing sideloaded, there will beer no issues with SafetyNet.
My phone passes SafetyNet but Netflix doesn’t appear in the Play store for me either (I’m in China). I think it’s a region thing rather than a SafetyNet thing.
Can you please try using Google Pay, help me tryout this two banking apps? Deeply appreciated
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=au.com.ingdirect.android&hl=en_AU
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.commbank.netbank&hl=en_AU
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-parrot043/
Have you tried this?
[(XDA) [GCAM7.3][Port For Redmi Note 9 Pro/S][CURTANA][JOYEUSE]](https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-9-pro/themes/best-gcam-redmi-note-9-proindia-t4103275)
Yeah, that’s the one I was trying. No matter what I changed, the pictures that weren’t completely messed up by over exposure and gain noise looked exactly the same as the stock app.
Anyone from Canada following this thread?
Where did you order it from? Please share the link if you could
Does it have AR+ inside pokemon go??
I have one more question and that would basically seal the deal for me. Could you install Gcam and let us know how the quality is? Especially for low light portraits, 4k videos and photo sphere? From what I saw low light portraits and wonky colors in 4k videos may be the few weaker areas of this phone and Gcam cold solve this. Also astrophotography on the MI 10 Ultra should be amazing.
If you could check that it would be like birthday and summer holiday at once.
You can download Gcam here: https://www.cyanogenmods.org/google-camera-mi-10-ultra/
How big js the camera bulge?does it make you uncomfortable?
And where would you stack it against pixel 4 in camera comparison??
Anyone from US following this thread? Do you think we will be able to get 90% working on T-mobile 5g? Or is there a way to unlock any additional 5g band to allow all t-mobile 5g bands? Thanks
I ordered from tradingshenzhen.com after evaluating all the resellers on the market including Aliexpress.
Just tried both and they worked fine. Didn’t go past the log in screen though.
It isn’t very big at all. With the case on the camera out less than a millimeter. Not uncomfortable at all.
I’ve never had a Pixel 4 so I can’t really answer this question. I’m sorry.
Ok! That’s a good sign. Thanks!
Do you use Google Pay in HK? Like paying in stalls/supermarket with phone.
Came across in xda saying that models without global version unlikely to have custom rom… do you think likewise?
I think my get around with it is to get an Wear OS smartwatch that support Google Pay…
Thanks buddy
Congrats for getting the phone. Do you have any issue with whatsapp delay or delayed notification for messages? (Especially after letting the phone remain idle for some time) would the messages only flood out upon you using the phone or opening the whatsapp app again?
This means a lot to me. Thanks a lot, cheers
Great questions! I’m also very interested in whether Gcam works with all lenses and whether night sight works with the ultrawide (and if portrait mode, photo sphere and 4k video work with it).
But you can dual-stream record (record from 2 different cameras at once), then trim the videos after the fact.
Are there any kind of back gestures on the MI 10 Ultra? I played with my friends Mi 9 with MiUi 12 yesterday and could not even find a gesture setting in the menu. It only had gestures on the home screen.
I think at least a decent ‘back’ gesture would be important.
That is also my experience. I just played with Gcam on a MI 9 yesterday and especially in lower light the results for example in portrait mode are much better.
Tried it yesterday when paying and it didn’t work properly. It kept trying to open Mi wallet (even though I had set up Google pay at the default payment system). There may be something I still need to disable though. I’ll have to try again.
Hi I had the global version of the mi 10 pro and it didn’t pick up 5G bands on T-Mobile network and even the 4G LTE doesn’t get crazy fast speeds.
Yes if you enable the full screen mode there are back gestures. I still like my dedicated home/back buttons so I don’t use that feature.
Yes this happens on and off. Hasn’t happened too much but there have been a few times where my Whatsapp notifications didn’t come through till I opened the phone.
Interesting solution. I use a Garmin (which has garmin pay that I don’t use) so unfortunately I won’t be using Google Pay that way for now.
Will attempt to answer some of these now and add edits later. [HERE](https://imgur.com/a/eES7ESl) is a screenshot of the info page that Xiaomi put on the pro mode in the phone.
– There should be RAW and full manual control on all four cameras, right?
Yes there raw and full manual is on all four cameras.
– Focus peaking on all four cameras in both photo and video?
Yes there is but not on the Tele 2X video (but yes for photo)
– Highlight warning on all four cameras in both photo and video?
Yes, it is called “exposure verification”. Also, it would seem there is no pro video mode on the Tele 2X at all.
– Is exposure bracketing and focus bracketing possible?
Can you put this in laymen terms? I did buy for the camera but I am an amateur. Some of these things I’m not sure I know.
– Is rack focus possible?
Yes, and you can manually refocus filming (again, no tele 2x though)
– LOG video for all four cameras?
Same issue as the Note 9. Only available on the main wide camera.
– Live histogram on all four cameras in both photos and video?
Histogram only seems to be on video settings, not photo settings. Will look more later.
– Can you select the recording bitrate for video on all four cameras? If not, anyone know what the bitrate is for 4K video?
I can’t find bitrate info/settings.
– Ok, this is a big one. Can you download the Camera2 Info app and paste and share the results on Pastebin? This will show developers which cameras and features can be available in their apps.
Results [HERE](https://pastebin.com/6N74G79W)
– Do 3rd party apps like Open Camera and Filmic Pro Evaluator only have access to the main camera?
Will answer later but Gcam does work but I think it still needs work.
– GCam ports still have access to all four cameras using the “Auxiliary Cameras” feature in Gcam, right?
Let me check and get back to you.
– The ultrawide camera is the one closest to the center of the phone, right? This worries me a lot because it may mean that it’s impossible to use any gimbal on this phone when shooting with the ultrawide camera because the phone clamp (which must be clamped to the center of the phone) will be in view of the ultrawide lens. Can you confirm that a center phone clamp will most likely show up on ultrawide shots?
Yes a center phone clamp could very well show up in ultra wide shots. I mentioned in a separate comment that my finger kept getting in shots when I used the ultrawide in portrait position.
Non-Camera Questions:
– Due to the curved screen, are there problems with installing tempered glass screen protectors and touch sensitivity afterwards?
I’m not sure. I don’t have a screen protector yet. It is very similar in shape and size to the OnePlus which I had a screen protector for and worked fine.
– Have there been any battery life issues when using the super fast charging capabilities?
Not yet! Also have not seen any issues with my OnePlus that used fast charging.
– Have there been any issues with running the phone with 100% Western english apps? Mine is going to be coming from China with the Chinese OS.
Some issues that I will try to sort out today is system apps occasionally pushing notifications that are in Chinese, and a delay in push notifications from Whatsapp and Gmail. Nothing unexpected or any deal breakers yet.
Trying now while I sit at my work desk. It would seem that not all lenses are working and there are some focusing issues especially during portrait mode. Photosphere does work with the ultrawide camera but I can’t select it when using the normal camera mode. 4k video mode is working. Can go up to 60 frames.
Thanks so much for answering! Haha, as you can see, supported features are not uniform across the board and the details of what each camera can do matters a lot. I’m especially bummed about no LOG profile for the other lenses, especially the ultrawide. And the lack of anything but automatic video shooting on the 2X / 50mm telephoto is really concerning. The 5X periscope telephoto has these features but the 2X telephoto *doesn’t*?
– Exposure Bracketing: This feature is mainly used for manually creating HDR images later on your computer. It lets you, with a single press of a button, take 3 or more images in rapid succession, each one set at a different exposure, and you should be able to adjust the number of images shot and how much the difference in exposure between them will be. All normal modern cameras have this feature and it’s available in 3rd party apps like Open Camera. You end up with a series of images going from dark to light, and then you composite them into a final HDR image in software.
– Focus Bracketing: This feature is used to extend your depth of field by running them through focus stacking software on the computer. Very useful for landscapes and especially macro. You set two main points of focus, one that’s close and another that’s further. The camera then automatically takes several shots, incrementally adjusting the focus for each shot between those two points you shot. It’s similar to programming rack focus in video, where you set a stop and end point for focus, and the camera automatically moves through the focus range on its own, only in focus bracketing mode the camera stops to take several photos throughout the focus range. You end up with a series of images where the focus points go from near to far, which you can then stack together in software to create a single image with a very wide depth of field.
——
After looking at the Camera2API results, I can confirm that 3rd party apps like Open Camera and Filmic Pro will only have full access to the main camera shooting in 12MP and the selfie camera.
All other cameras will be unusable and invisible to these 3rd party camera apps.
The Gcam questions will likely take time to answer. We need to wait for Gcam ports from XDA developers.
> poke
Unfortunately, this app has the distinction of being the first one I tried that froze upon trying to open the AR+ features. I’ll try again later.
Would the lack of 2X video/features be due to the fact that is is such a smaller MP and sensor?
It looks like there is no manual mode for exposure bracketing or for focused bracketing sadly. Seems the pro features are mostly the standard affair and the more in depth stuff that you want isn’t there. Sorry! Now I want those things too! Ha. Especially focus bracketing, would be a fun one to play with.
Thanks so much for trying. Can you use the ultrawide also in normal photo mode and with night mode? How is the general image quality of the ultrawide and main cams with Gcam?
That’s great news 🙂
Honestly, I’m not sure about the lack of features and control on the 2x camera. It might be because the sensor is sourced from a company that doesn’t provide that functionality? Can you at least shoot in 4k 60fps on the 2x camera and adjust exposure? If you can’t even adjust exposure that’s a big issue.
Yeah, exposure bracketing is great because it allows you to greatly expand your dynamic range and manually create your own HDRs rather than relying on the built-in algorithms in the camera apps. For things like real estate or architecture it’s an absolute requirement and why it’s a standard feature on all normal cameras.
Focus bracketing is very useful for macro shots. When shooting macro your depth of field is often only a single millimeter. The eyes of a fly will be in focus but the rest of the body might not and certainly not the surrounding flower or whatever. Focus stacking via focus bracketing is the only way around this and lets you create a final image with everything in focus. The same with landscapes. A very close foreground object like a flower all the way to the sunset at infinity can be made to be tack-sharp with focus stacking.
The problem is that these features are available easily through 3rd party apps, but because Xiaomi restricts access to only the main camera for 3rd party, you will not be able to use these features on the other cameras.
No focus bracketing on the ultrawide is a HUGE shame.
Hmmm…
– As for video resolutions, are all cameras capable of 4k 60fps?
– And what’s the max fps for 8k? I’m assuming that’s only on the main camera right?
– I just saw a review that mentioned colors in video are really off. Oversaturated, blacks that are too dark, skin tones that are a bit too orange. Thoughts? Apparently this color accuracy and contrast problem has been an ongoing thing with Xiaomi, and this is an issue because, as a videographer, what you want are videos with flatter contrast and color because this preserves dynamic range and more latitude to color grade your footage.
That’s the idea behind the LOG profile, which is thankfully on the main camera, but if the other cameras have over-contrasted and over-saturated video, we’ve got a problem.
That is true! However there are no real video controls while recording is happening.
probably, since most custom ROM Dev are outside China
Well I do have a question. I just got a Poco F2 Pro, for like 350€, great price for a flagship like phone. Before pulling the trigger I did compare it with the K30 Ultra, the only thing keeping me from getting it was the CPU. What are your thoughts on custom rom development using the Mediatek chip? Mostly I ask because after some times these phones will stop getting updates, and custom roms keeps the phones alive
And another question:
Is manual white balance able to be set for all lenses when shooting video?
It would be awesome if you could post some examples of the pictures quality with Gcam. And how bad is the focusing during low light portraits with Gcam? Is it still workable?
Oh I see, I hope it work in the second attempt, can you check if the character moves to where you look?
yes links?
make LG great again..
make LG great again!
curved edge sucks with scr protectors right?
also i prefer a step up to 90Hz too for better battery than 120hz
what was price differential
will DxO ?
how did you predict this? is it known/common issue..?
OHHHH CANNNA DA
no
Nope. DXOMark is awful. They state clearly that their reviews are targeted towards the average person. They don’t cover or ever mention any higher level features.
Their review is up right now. It’s long, but exceptionally basic.
[Here](https://www.flickr.com/gp/47723824@N04/1T603F) are those pics you ordered. Tried to take a bunch today when I was out and about.
[Here](https://www.flickr.com/gp/47723824@N04/1T603F) are some sample pics and videos I took today. You can see for yourself. I do think there is room for improvement with color accuracy. There is a shot inside a fish store and its all purple despite the store being quite blue.
There is 4k for .5x, 1x, and 5x. No video option for 2x.
For 8k fps isn’t even mentioned. 8k is available in both 1x and 5x lenses. It can shoot hdr10 though. Not sure if that matters.
Yes it is.
Gcam has a thing called “Aux Cameras” that when enabled, might enable the remaining cameras and it’s available on Gcam 7.x
It’s an option that you toggle inside Settings.
I don’t have Gcam 7.x so unfortunately I can’t give you more detailed steps.
Thanks so much for all the pics!
Were the night shots with light trails and blurred people moving done with a tripod or free-handed? I noticed that the shutter speed was around 2 seconds on those.
Man, I really have no idea why the 2x is so gimped. 50mm is such a useful focal length. I hope stuff like this can be fixed in an update.
I don’t supposed you’ve owned another Xiaomi before and know if they periodically update camera capabilities?
I really can’t thank you enough. The only thing is I can’t see the original size, can you enable that?
It’s free handed. There is are long exposure options like blurred crowds and neon lights. I was just tying it out on those ones you saw.
I had a xiaomi years ago but I can’t recall. Others probably can answer that question better than me.
I’ll check tomorrow!
Cheers!
The xiaomi is 500 USD dollars cheaper than the Note 20 Ultra.
Hi, I used it yesterday all day out and about taking picture, video, using data. Unplugged at 7am and it took me to 11:45pm with 27% battery.
Any idea why I can’t find it on AliExpress in the US?
Hey man , congrats on your new beast of a phone ! I’ve got a OnePlus 6T at the moment and have ordered this phone, so I am excited and expecting a big upgrade! I just wondered if anyone sells tempered glass screen protectors for this phone , as I can’t seem to find any online? Also there doesn’t seem to be many cases either , but I hear there’s one provided in the box at least. I’ve never spent this much money on a phone before and wanna make sure it’s well protected!
I’m following. I think I will get my friend in Shenzhen/Hong Kong to buy me one and then ship it to me .
I’d caution patience for screen protectors. The phone comes with a simple clear plastic case that works well for the back. I’ll keep an eye out here too but I imagine I’ll have to look on taobao (Chinese ebay/Amazon)
Well I can only tell you that I took one out of circulation. I’d say it’s a limited release, and there are plenty of people who want it. It’ll be sold out for a little while most likely. Good luck!
I just meant they aren’t even listed there at all in my app
Are you able to sync your outlook email in your mi10ultra? I’m having problems with mine 🙁
Are you using a personal or exchange email? My personal email works fine on outlook but exchange is also having issues. Work just switched to dual authentication though so I just chalked it up to that.
Hi, I’m using an outlook account connected to my office’s office 365 account. Weird thing is I get the notifications but couldn’t open/view emails in the outlook app. My recourse is to use web based 🙁
I found the problem!!! Sync issues is due to the power restriction in my company portal. Cheers!!🍻🍻🍻
Hi, I noticed in your sample pics, the earlier images were great i.e. mtr train, mtr stations. However the later street shots the HDR processing is so strong. Is there a setting to switch it off or tone it down?
Can you confirm if it accepts a micro sd card? Also, which one did you get? I’m planning to buy one and I’m torn between the 8gb vs 12gb ram models? It’s my first time getting a MIUI phone and I’m not sure if 8gb is enough…
Yes, I’m planning to buy one from Alibaba but doing some research first.
Did you have time to check whether you can make the full size samples available?
Have you tried changing NFC to use HCE wallet?
Yea sorry. I just took at look and I can’t seem to find out how to set that up. Maybe it’s a payed thing?
I have not, but I disabled some things which should make it work, just haven’t tried it yet.
Hmm… Here it says: Being PRO has nothing to do with photos sizes, both pro AND free accounts can upload high res images with which Flickr does not tamper.

Is there no option in your settings to show full size?
Just reread your post and looked up what you’re talking about will try tomorrow. Thanks for this advice.
Why does netflix not work?
How many RAM did you get? Reckon 12/16gb is an over kill?
I bought mine here, [https://item.jd.com/100008100927.html](https://item.jd.com/100008100927.html) ,
delivered to my door in Hong Kong in 3 days, Black 8+256GB, = us$810 .
netflix not working for MIUI 12 brought me here, app is not in play store , tried installing by apkmirror, also on chrome browser.
Prime video works fine.
My previous phone is POCO f1, still MIUI 11, netflix no problem, any help or comment?
edit: just found this, [https://www.notebookcheck.net/Stable-MIUI-12-update-for-the-Poco-F2-Pro-broke-Netflix-HD-playback-support.485264.0.html](https://www.notebookcheck.net/Stable-MIUI-12-update-for-the-Poco-F2-Pro-broke-Netflix-HD-playback-support.485264.0.html)
This did it. Google Pay works now. Cheers for providing a solution!
Forget Filmic Pro. I was a Filmic big fan until I discovered this:
[Mcpro24fps app](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=lv.mcprotector.mcpro24fps)
This can operate with the whole number of cameras -that in Filmic are hidden-, you can choose many kind of log curves and set, and the best is 10-bit video recording !!!
How is the 4G connectivity as it doesnt have band 20? Do you still get good signal etc?
Hi, thanks for all your insights on the phone. Really helpful.
You already talked about Google Pay a couple of times and it seems you have now made it work. Can you explain again what you had to do exactly to make it work?
Is this correct?
1. Downloading Google Play Store
2. Downloading Google Play Services
3. Downloading Google Pay
4. Login in on Google Pay
5. Switching NFC option to HCE Wallet
Was that it and this way Google Pay works for you now?
Thanks for the clarification. Greetings from Berlin.
Do the notifications come through ok? I’ve heard of miui having major issues with this. And generally how is the software experience. Any hiccups, bugs etc?
Play store comes pre-installed just needs to be updated.
Just download the Google frameworks, then Google pay, switch from Mi wallet to Google pay as your default and switch to HCE wallet (default is sim wallet) and you’re good! A bit annoying just to set it all up but it’s all good now.
I got the 12gb option but I think for most non power users (myself included) 8gb would be fine.
Not sure but it works when sideloaded and it is able to play HD quality.
I’m not sure. I live in Hong Kong so I don’t know if I can answer this. Sorry.
What version of netflix did you try to get from apkmirror? I had to go down a few builds before I found one that works. But it is working fine for me now.
tried again, this working now, **7.60.1 build 63 34929** , but L1, no HDR,

Could you please do one more video test and paste the results on Pastebin?
Download MediaInfo:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.mediaarea.mediainfo
Shoot a super short 2 second video clip from all the cameras at the highest resolution and bitrate.
Then open each one with MediaInfo, go to the upper right eye icon and select “text”, and copy, paste, and share the results for each camera on Pastebin (please label each one with the camera it was shot with)? That’ll tell us which cameras are shooting in 10-bit bit depth, the bitrate, and if it’s in HDR.
Hi Stan, quick questions, do banking apps let you use Fingerprint to login and authorise payments? Does Payme work with fingerprint as well?
I’m also in HK as well, did you get your phone from a store? was it in MK phone mall?
Are you using it on 5G in HK? Which network are you using? I just signed up to China Mobile 5G but dont have a 5G phone yet
Hey Whiskey,
Yes, HSBC fingerprint scan works for me for both login and payments. I don’t use payme but I imagine it will work (Mi 10 Ultra is SafetyNet certified so, in theory it should work). I went to the MK phone mall on argyle. However, another comment here said they ordered through JD.com to get it shipped from China. If you know how to use the Chinese stores – Xiaomi’s taobao store won’t ship but it will from JD. That would allow you to purchase without a markup. I didn’t know that and payed an ~200hkd markup. Which is fine for me.
Yes, I’m on 3HK and it works fine. I’ll probably switch to China Mobile when my contract expires.
Congratulations for this phone 😉 I have 2 questions:
-May you can check 4k 60fps is able for 3rd party apps?
-Is Spanish language available for this version?
Thanks in advance
1.) What’s the average battery life n screen on time for it?
2.) Is Gcam well supported?
Hi, can you tell me if Google messages is working? I’ve had some issues with it saying I don’t have a compatible sim so I can’t access chat features.
I wonder, can you install Google Assistant and summon it by Ok Google? Is there Google Autofill? Or there’s just a play store?
Can you use Google Assistant? “Hey Google” works fine for me, but long pressing home button that is supposed to trigger Google Assistant is only opening Google App instead.
Absolutely fine! Still gets up to 100% no loss of charge or lower battery life. But the phone is still new imo so take that how you will.
How did you work around the chinese rom?
The only band it may pick up will be n41 which used to be sprint, now with the merge with t-mobile and sprint.
Did you end up buying this? Noticed you’re from Aus so wondering how we would deal without b28 for 4g.
So, what about MEMC? or interpolation. I know not many people like “soap opera effect” where videos are bumped up from 24- 30 fps to 60 or even 90 fps but it’s something that I really enjoy. Does this phone have the ability to upscale videos on youtube like the OnePlus 8 pro can?
Following up on this.
Any lags or software issues after \~1 mo?
I use WhatsApp a hell of a lot with international clients.. How much is the delay.. Is it slightly by fee mins or its the kind where id have to check my phone occasionally for notifications?
I use whatsapp every day but only socially. I would not recommend this phone due to too any delayed messages. If that’s a serious need for you, I’d say look to another device.
No didn’t get it. Sorry.
I actually ended up buying it. Other than the initial 1 week with the Chinese rom, it’s been pretty solid
Wow! That’s cool! So what rom are you running now?
Using the xiaomi.eu rom. Been pretty decent so far. Just need to figure out why Google pay isn’t working properly. The camera on this is pretty bonkers 🤣
Hey mate how has the phone been so far? Any bugs you can report? Have you got MiUI12 yet?
I’m interested in buying this phone, but i got a few things I’m unsure about,
* do banking apps from the play store work OK?
* does the camera have a ‘motion photo’ mode like Google and Samsung phones?
* what’s the 1080p screen compared to a 2k screen?
Cheers
Banking apps worked well enough but I’ve already sold the phone. It was finicky with certain apps and didn’t always work smoothly. I would be hesitant buying this unless you are more of an enthusiast. But, to answer your question, yes my bank app worked fine (HSBC for me) and it has a few long exposure modes if that’s what you mean. No “live photos” like Apple if that’s what you’re talking about. Hope that helps!
