And the battery life has drastically increased, especially on standby mode. To the dude who made a post about debloating his Xiaomi phone around this week, I thank you.

google “github xiaomi adb fastboot tool”, it should you direct you to the github site of the development, in there are the different executables depending of the platform, for windows you would need installing Java as it is required for it to run, also the adb drivers for your device

Oh. The MIUI calendar app got removed but it’s fine since I use Google Calendar. So you could still use any calendar app

And I think backup is Xiaomi’s backup service, which I don’t use

What do you mean by “lose some function”?

Everything still works fine if that’s what you’re asking.

Idk about that, but using the tool by Saki makes debloating really safe tho

Technically, you could remove every app that’s listed on Saki’s xiaomi tool, but opted to keep a few apps

personally shareme (midrop) is too convenient to not use, I can copy files from any computer to phone vice versa with only few clicks through the same network

it’s basically identical to usb connection but wireless

Have you noticed any significant improvement? Before I received my Mi9t (k20) I considered rooting etc. but in the 3 months I’ve had it I haven’t found any reason to mess with the stock rom (although I do use Nova Launcher).

Performance and battery life have been excellent for me and the recent upgrade to MIUI 11 has made it even better (so far)

Having only 1 camera app installed would make it the default, but it is **highly inadvisable to uninstall the default MIUI camera app** as this the app that is guarantee to always work.

If you would like to make Gcam the default camera app you can simply do it by chosing Gcam as the default app for camera actions in:

    `settings>apps>3 dot menu>default application.` ^*this ^path ^may ^vary.

No. It is same as uninstalling. If using tool then it is easy. You can uninstall. The uninstalled apps shows on the reinstaller list where you can reinstall. Even adb has command to uninstall and reinstall. Only you should know the package name. Tool is easier for these things though.

    >know some recommend using `adb shell pm uninstall`, but this is better because you can re-enable the apps you disable later.

Can be re-enabled in both ways. It is in xda. Uninstall doesn’t uninstall it. It is there in /system and can be installed whenever we want.

You don’t necessarily need to use that app. All you need to is to figure out the package name of the app you want disabled. If you can do it another way, then go ahead and do that. However, Ive used it multiple times before and found it to be a pretty well-done app, that’s why I recommended it.

Google Duo caused a bug on the RN4X wherein it would continuously run causing severe battery drain, and slowdown (it also made the phone really hot even on standby)

I don’t know if the issue still persists in the latest firmware tho, since I force closed the app and uninstalled its updates to fix the issue

I removed everything that’s miui (and Google Duo, I strongly recommend removing Google Duo) except for the screen recorder.

Something to note tho, since it’s not fully supported by Saki’s tool, you don’t have the option of reinstalling removed bloatware. Also, after debloating, opening “System apps updater” in settings and the preinstalled miui message app gives me an error.

So I just installed the Google messaging app and don’t open “System apps updater” anymore since there’s nothing to update

Can you list apps you disabled on note 4 MTK? This old boy is slow as hell now even after factory reset and battery life is baad. I know its just easier to change a phone, but ill get one later

yeah but considering the target audience of this sub making them go your route may seem trickier than with XA/F which is pretty much fool proof.

i didnt think about non xiaomi phones because i assumed everyone inquiring about this was on miui and thus on a xiaomi phone.

Technically, you could remove every app that’s listed on Saki’s xiaomi tool, but opted to keep a few apps

Sure, you can go that route too. Really whatever you prefer. I was just recommending this because I can use it on all my phones, not just Xiaomi. It’s also pretty reliable and works well.

why go the hassle of adb command shells when xiaomi adb/fastboot gui tools exist? it even shows you all the bloat that is safe to remove without bricking the device while also being able to reinstall whatever you desire.

Same I was afraid something could go wrong cuz I dont know anything about rooting and stuff but I just followed the instrucctions and went really well its a safe process (no root required) and now my RN7 had significantly improved its performance and battery life

For those of you looking to debloat: You don’t have to run unknown scripts and debloat absolutely everything. Its very simple, and you can do all of it manually.

First, you’ll need to download an app called [App Inspector.](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=bg.projectoria.appinspector) This is used to identify the package name of the application you want to disable. Just find the app in App Inspector, and make a note of its package name. (I just went through all of the apps I wanted to disable and pasted each of their package names into a note in Google Keep, then loaded the note up on my pc)

Edit: Thanks, u/xtc982 – you can also use MIUI’s built-in settings to find the package name instead of using the app described above. Go to App Manager, select an app, and then hit (i) button to see package name.

Next, you’ll need to setup adb and fastboot. I’m sure you can manage this, moving on.

Next, on your PC open up a console window and make sure you have adb connected and authorized by running `adb devices`.

Now, the fun begins. We’ll be using the following command `adb shell pm disable-user –user 0 `. Just paste that in and replace the <> part with the package name

I know some recommend using `adb shell pm uninstall`, but this is better because you can re-enable the apps you disable later. If you use uninstall, you can only get them back by factory resetting. Both commands don’t actually remove the app from your phone (they both just freeze it) so there is no point in using the irreversible one.

Now, if you want to reenable an app, you can use `adb shell pm enable `

That’s it! Now you have a debloated phone.
