Did it do a good job?
how does it handle carpets? And I mean THICC carpets
First thing I thought so. I’m curious.
It depends on the carpet. I have one of those curly/stringy hair carpets in the bathroom and it struggles/gets stuck in those stringy hairs.
-What is my purpose?
-You clean floor.
-… Yay! 😀
Yes, it did.. I can see the quality like other branded iroomba.. You can put schedule in the apps, also will draw live map when it moving around..
Initially my mom wanted to purchase philips robot vacuum with double price, she was not convinced with Xiaomi at first.. But after I purchased this one, she changed her mind now about Xiaomi.. 🙂
Nice!
Btw I’m curious to know if there are any such home robots which can vacuum as well as ‘mop’ (like say clean a spill) or be able to clean sticky/dirty floors ?
What about small drops in floor levels?
So it’s smart enough to not go to the same place over an over again?
This one does that. https://www.vacuumsguide.com/xiaomi-robot-vacuum-2-new-version-upgraded/
It will go to the same place twice.. first suction follow by second suction.. i guess that’s the algo behind..
I bought the 1st gen a month ago and am in love. We have flaying floorboards, tiles and a few rugs, and it’s done such a good job I haven’t pulled out the proper vacuum since. I originally bought it just to do token cleans during the week with two young kids to save us time. It can get under all the beds, couches and pick up all the crumbs and mess from my 4 year old quite impressively. And the way it maps your house is quite intelligent and methodical, only one clean out of 12 missed a room and I believe that was due to my son purposely blocking it and making it turn around. I do know it’s performance is mediocre on shaggy carpets, but I don’t have any so can’t comment. This thing has saved us so much time though, and the house has been it’s cleanest since having kids.
Just a note, please refrain from using URL shorteners on reddit. They are typically caught in the spam filter and they make people hesitant to click since they could lead anywhere.
How much does it cost?We have a Xiaomi store here and I’ve seen only demo units.. haven’t heard when will they be available…also is the a first gen?is there a second one already?
I understood that reference
Reddit will remember that.
I don’t know if anyone else has asked or come across this… but what about dogs? I’d think all dogs want to play with the vacuum, but what if they accidentally or not, step on it? I’m sure we can train the dogs to leave it alone, but mine is still a puppy and does whatever he wants. :\\
I just bought my Xiaomi Roborock S5 ~1 month ago and I am in love with it. It works extremely well in all areas of my house. My downstairs is predominately hardwood with a few sections of carpet, with a drop off to a tile sun room. Its sensors prevent it from falling over the edge.
I have it vacuum my downstairs every other day and my upstairs, all carpet, once a week. I did have a few problems out of the box. One was the wheel that swivels was making a terrible squealing noise. That was fixed with a tiny bit of WD-40. The other problem was the LDS head on top repeatedly stopped moving. I got an alert on my phone to try and clear it to make sure it was moving freely. After this happening about 3-4 times a week ago, it hasn’t happened since. This robot has really changed my life haha.
Edit: I only paid $374 for this vacuum. I did research for days on the best one for the price, and this robot is not even close. It competes with the $1,000+ robots, and actually outperforms them in some aspects.
Is this the first or second version of the robot?
It’s so cute! I want to pat it and tell it that it’s doing a good job
well i don’t think this machine or puppy can harm each other.
Poop or pee can be hmm.. rough on these cleaning robots.
Why did it skip vacuuming up to the edge at first ?
My dog is the main reason I got the cleaner. He loses so much fur around the house you would not believe. And no he doesn’t play with the cleaner, he actually slowly gets out of its way as it approaches.
SO it can’t clean under the tables and sofas?
I have the 2nd Gen vacuum and it is very heavy. A dog would have a hard time pushing thst thing around.
I have a cat and a dog, and a Xiaomi Roborock … 😀
When vacuum is on, cat usually runs away, but dog ignores it completely until Vacuum bumps into her … Sometimes the dog moves, sometimes she just stays in a place so Vacuum goes around her…
I have Xiaomi Roborock S50 (or Vacuum 2nd gen). It goes well with carpets, and it even has a mode where it can auto-detect carpets and automatically increase vacuum speed in order to suck even more. Only flaw is that you can’t tell it to avoid carpets completely, since Roborock has mopping feature which shouldn’t be used with carpets, so either don’t use mop or roll the carpets when mopping …
Yeah, I know. It’s water displacement #40, used to displace water. Most people misuse WD-40 and use it for things it’s not intended to fix. I just used it in a pinch to see how effective it would be. But thanks for the alternative.
It looks so cute!
Sadly these vacuums aren’t enough for my place. I have to use an almost industrial-grade Alto Nilfisk to vacuum the mess that’s made when renovating the house.
~~Wish I had one.~~
Love mine. Its the perfect combination for living with two cats \^\^.
Got the second generation some time ago, with washing support. It does its job perfectly! It’s our first one.
Now I want some robo for the kitchen, which takes care about cleaning surfaces and putting dishes into dishwasher. 🙂
Xiaomi how about such device?

Have you used the washing / mopping function? I haven’t bothered.
I’d definitely get this if it doesn’t cost $300.
I think they speak Chinese but use Google translate or some other translate apps lol.
Not only will it attract dirt and dust, but ferrous metal parts tend to ship in a light oil specifically to protect against rust. WD-40 is a penetrating oil and solvent and will strip that oil off and cause *extraordinarily* fast rusting.
White lithium grease will protect any metal parts, so.
True haha.
Can you set up home-assistant with a gen1?
It skip at first, but eventually it will go.. the mapping algo really does the good job
My sofa and table is too narrow for the robot to go.. 🙁
You can setup timer, and select the particular area that you want to clean from the app.. Not sure what kind of home-assistant you looking at?? Voice command??
aweeeee
Do you still have it? Is it still working?
