Switching from my super old, super loved iPhone 6, to a Redmi Note 7 Pro.
Out of all the phone companies, Xiaomi caught my eye the most and I’m beyond hyped to join the family.

Iphone 6 died so using a backup iphone 4 atm. If A3 ends up being mediocre I may just pick up the RN7
Welcome to the Mi Club 😁
Hey, does this have any side effects or is it just a work around for the ads?
I’m waiting a xiaomi phone just not sure if it’ll work on At&t/cricket wireless in the United States.
I’m at the page here https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-suggested/ I’m not too sure which are the stable ones. Can you tell me which one is?
yeah, my Note 4 has had the same problem since I got it 2 years ago. Sometimes it uses LTE, but it always seems to prefer H+ even when there’s perfectly good LTE available. I tried for months to get it to work correctly but then just accepted that more often than not, I’ll be using H+.
Welcome to da Xiaomi club!
(Redmi Note 6 Pro user)
i have a poco f1 too and i have been using san1ty’s version. works very well, and is very stable. hope that helps you!
I am a xiaomi user for almost 4 years and I used 3 different xiaomi phones.. starting with Redmi 2 prime to Redmi note 4 and now I am using pocophone F1… I love their simple UI.. btw welcome to the xiaomi family ..
Sames. I went wit the mi mix 3 n im wonderin what I was using before hand.
Great! Thanks for your help!
MiUI has its pros and cons. One of the cons that you might be annoyed by is ads that pop up in many places ib the UX. They can be disabled though.
I just swapped my Huawei Mate 20 with this shiny and built-like-a-tank Xiaomi Mi Mix 3. I am super impressed. This is my first ever Xiaomi phone. Still getting used to MIUI. I am using for less than 24 hours as of the moment, and it’s already growing in my system, it’s not really a steep learning curve. Camera is superb. Aaaaaand the sliding selfie-mechanism is a cool addition, something that really gets the attention of others in my place, where Xiaomi is heard but isn’t used at all.
I’d recommend switching to custom ROMs
Welcome
It’s more like display latency I think. Tried touchscreen test apps and it reacted fast. Bigger problem was the ghosting and lag. Notebookcheck measured 60ms latency 🙁
How do you do it? I tried installing it from Google Play and it said my phone isn’t compatible.
I got this phone for 250$, loving this phone a lot, miui on this phone is super smooth and also 6gb and 128gb memory seems enough for me and battery life for me is phenomenal.
though there are some annoyances for me, typing faster is not pleasant on this phone but enabling auto correct in keyboard helps, there is issue same as Poco with touch sensitivity.
Here. Maybe this will help. https://in.c.mi.com/thread-754122-1-1.html
Do you know if it has video out? There was a thread here the other day that said other note devices had it.
Such as?
I currently own a iPhone 7 since 2016 but I ordered yesterday a beautiful Mi 9, I hope that I will be fine with the bigger screen. Android isnt a problem because I had samsung devices before the iPhone
MIUI 11 won’t have any adds, CEO confirmed.
Have you tried opencamera instead of gcam? I don’t have gcam installed and would like to know how much better it is than the regular camera. Opencamera makes the default a LOT better too
I also like Redmi Note 7 Pro, and I am currently considering whether to purchase Redmi Note 7 Pro.
Does Xiaomi a2 lite have the same pop ups ?
How is Redmi Note 7 Pro so far? I used to have iPhone 6S+, I kinda liked the Xiaomi gesture navigation though.
You can still unlock the phone and flash stock Android. There will be quality ROMs in a month.
Did the same thing a couple of days ago. I’m coming from a OnePlus 6 and switched to the Mi 9.
You can use Open Camera which is very similar to G Camera in terms of quality.
Welcome brother🤴🏽
Just a work around.
We’re pleased to welcome you!
Let us know how it is after you’ve used it a little while.
And if you want to do so [here’s the link for the debloating tool.](https://old.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/wiki/debloat) (Entirely optional, there’s really not much bloatware on Xiaomi phones but having the option is nice.)
Get it. It’s pretty good
What caused you to upgrade from Poco to Mix 2S? NFC payments?
Congrats!
I bet it will be an awesome experience.
I using still a Xiaomi Mi5 and after 4 years of intense usage it’s still unbelievably fast! Works smoothly and without glitches at all! Battery life is impressive still lasts 14 hours on normal usage.
I changed 3 times the battery of my iPhone and as far as I remember never lasted more than 12 hours ..
The one biggest problem I’ve run into while filming with my Mi 9 is the audio. The audio quality sounds very poor and mechanical compared to that of my iPhone. Another (although much smaller) problem is that the projector screen I was filming flickered on my camera, though that’s just an unfortunate refresh rate; I’m pretty sure there are settings I can tweak to resolve that. Other than that it’s pretty much perfect, everything looks unbelievably sharp and smooth. Even without OIS the video is still very steady. One of the things that really blew me away when I first got it was the autofocus/auto exposure. It is much better than that of my 7 Plus; unlike the 7 Plus, it doesn’t overcompensate and overexpose the scene when I move from a dark room into bright light.
Its photo capabilities are amazing. I’ve been having a lot of fun with the 48 MP shooter, and it really does wonders. I tried shooting a leaf yesterday, and it captured a lot of details I didn’t even pick up on with my own eyes. For example I could see little hairs and indentations on the leaves clearly, and there was even a strand of a spider web near the tip of the leaf it had captured that I only noticed an hour ago while clearing out useless photos.
Coming from an iPhone, my problems so far are with the OS as a whole, though since you already are using a Pixel this shouldn’t be much of a problem for you. I still haven’t gotten used to Android and there are some functions on iOS I really miss, but MIUI really is growing on me.
I got the Mi Note 5, global version. this is an awesome phone. 4G ram / 64G storage and some beefed up processor. it’s fast, secure and i just installed google lens into it. i’m expecting to do some VR stuff as well.
I should be little bit faster. Also battery life will be much better. Up to a 8h of SoT. Camera with gcam is much better. But U will have some quarks with Android os.
No. This is a trait specific to MiUI
[Here’s an updated wiki. The subreddit one isn’t updated since half a year.](https://xiaomiwiki.github.io/wiki/Uninstall_system_apps)
Nope, it won’t void warranty. As soon as you factory reset the device, the bloatware will return.
Mine had LTE when it wanted to have it. Sounds wierd but it was wierd if I resetted the device it went to 4g thwn after a few days it would be back to LTE
Well, they can’t get rid of them 100 percent as it is a vital part of their revenue model. But it will decrease.
I just got my note 7 two days ago. Its amazing! 🙂
Welcome to the Mi Club! I hope your switch from iPhone will be smooth!
I, too, own an iPhone6 for years. Still using it today actually together with my new Redmi Note 7 where I’m currently typing this comment. Had it for a few weeks now and I freaking love it! My iPhone screen time reminder just told me i spent almost 0 hour screen time last week. Haha I’m exploring still.
Oh I have a Poco F1. Do you know if it’ll work on it without causing issues to other apps?
I agree it’s annoying. How do we turn off the pop ups in their apps? Can you please show me? Thanks!
You can’t get it from Google Play since it’s not official for all phones. There’s a website that has all the versions from different developers. Looks like backrider is making gcam for Redmi Note 7. Just google “celsoazevedo backrider”
I only just switched to a Mi 9 from my 7 Plus after using Apple products my whole life. Still haven’t really gotten the hang of MIUI and Android as a whole but I’m loving it so far
The sidebar could be improved a tad haha
There’s quite a few different things in there but like nobody knows about it
I was with a super slow iPhone 6 and got the Mi9 and I can’t describe how amazing this smartphone is. Wonderful job by Xiaomi.
I was in the struggle between RN 7 and Poco to repleace my RN 5
Finally got the Poco, performance is amazing thought I think that RN 7 is a beauty
I’m using a note 5 pro. Would getting a 7 improve my signal? I’m on T-Mobile btw
Thanks for your comment! I have been wondering how to do this
