Nothing special like any other phone but you must remove the ads from the phone
Start the bootloader unlock process (it takes 7 days so you may want to start immediately)
Debloat your phone
To root the phone?
Like sell it and get some OnePlus. My I’m having nothing but trouble with my RN8P.
Debloating does not need unlocking the BL. Do not listen to this guy.
Read it again. He’s asking what he should do.
I never said that debloating needs an unlocked bootloader. I just said that the first thing should be *start* unlocking, second thing debloating, since unlocking takes 7 days.
Remove bloatware.
I suspect that OP doesn’t know anything about rooting and custom ROMs, and that he will never do so if nobody pushes him a little bit in the right direction. Xiaomi without root and custom ROM is awful, I hope we can agree here.
not everyone has time to learn ADB and all those kinda advanced tech stuff, MIUI is suitable enough for people who don’t know anything much about tech
>**any tips on what I should do first with Xiaomi phones?**
Remove all of that protective film, remove any stickers (not sure if Poco phones come with them on the back of the phone) , insert SIM card and start using (?).
MIUI these days, specially if your phone is Global/EEA, don’t come with much chinese crap apps pre-installed. Not much to do in that department. You should check if you have ADS disabled in each of the default apps (cleaning/security, launcher, etc.). Google it yourself on how to do it and which apps to disable ads in, there’s plenty of easily available info.
Don’t unlock your bootloader, unless you specifically need to mess around with custom firmwares and what not. Xiaomi phones sold outside of China (Global and EEA variants, f.e.) come with little to no crap installed out of the box, so you’re good to go from factory, really. Also, unlocking the bootloader could mess up security requirements for Banking apps, Netflix, etc.
The best tip so far.
Nice, i ordered one also but then i upgraded to F2 Pro.
Hope you are happy with the x3
Unlock bootloader, flash recovery and install [Xiaomi.eu](https://Xiaomi.eu) ROM 🙂
saw root here in comments…good idea if u know how
Any ideas on how to remove ads from a xiaomi mi 9?
there are quite few tutorial online i disabled all ads in 5 min
Even in their apps?
yep its simple
Sign in for unlock and change rom to xiaomi.eu 🤪
Send it to me. I can inspect it for u.
run the debloat tool
Download XiaomiADBFastbootTools (github) (doesn’t require unlocked bootloader) get all the stock apps (they have ads) and the extra bundled software (most are crap that you’ll never use and they still leave the china only apps installed only hidden from the user on global firmware)out of there
Maybe after a while when development takes place unlock the bootloader and get a custom rom on there
Switch it on and use
Delete useless china apps trough ADB
> Also, unlocking the bootloader could mess up security requirements for Banking apps, Netflix, etc.
Not if you know what you do
Dude, why? Did OP even mention root or BL anywhere?
Lmao
Poco & Mi phones don’t have ads. Only Redmi ones do. So no need to check for ads
Poco phones don’t have ads.
Mi phones do have ads too, or at least my mi 9 lite…
I have updated through OTA MIUI 12 global. I’ll find any advantages flashing the [xiaomi.eu](https://xiaomi.eu) version? Thanks
edit: I’m reading the features in the web. Just know if there are some huge advantages like better battery, smoothess etc.)
Check the notifications issues. At first I had problems with lack of notifications, but users are supposed to allow them come in settings. Check out, if you also have many apps’ notifications switched off
Just got my Poco X3 today too. If it’s your first time with an high refresh rate screen, ohhhhh it’s so smooth.
Get that fake tattoo on your shoulder 😎
Does it look like he knows what he’s doing?
this model have ads
I thought it was the apps that have the ads. No matter what phone version you have?
EEA devices have a toggle when you first set them up that disables ads, tho.
Eat it
You know what would have been a helpful comment? Maybe a link to a post that shows how to unlock the bootloader properly so that it doesn’t mess up security requirements.
enjoy it 🙂
Yes: no bloatware, no ads
Yea but I’ve already debloated through adb and now have no ads so. Any huge advantage apart from these?
He did better and posted a video!
Uninstall all useless Mi apps! Debloat MIUI! Enjoy the phone!
Definitely check out this subreddit’s [Wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/wiki/) and use the guide [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/wiki/debloat) to debloat MIUI!
He can always learn how to bypass SafetyNet
I suspect that too 🙁
I’m pretty sure mrwhosetheboss said there are ads in the Poco x3
MIUI dialer with record button
Don’t agree on the mi cleaner terms and conditions
I’m waiting on the post for my Xiaomi Redmi 9 but I believe Mediatek Helio G80 has no TWRP yet?><
if ur too dumb to know what to do with your phone after you bought it, ur better off using an iphone. simple.
Unlocking your bootloader will always trigger security requirements at first. Using Magisk and Magisk Hide Props may help you bypass the security requirements, if it doesn’t work you will need to install EdXposed and use the HiddenCore Module
Edit : If you need links Google and XDA are your friends
Apply for bootloader unlock
change region to USA for higher sounds
Mix 3 too
it may have bugs, not sure if you need install the rom twice to install it properly, but it comes with xiaomi apps like call recorder or mimessage (allows free messages via internet)
Ask dumb question, get dumb answers. A little google will tell you everything you need to know about xiaomi phones.
too smart for reddit, too dumb for google.
Debloat
Have the 100th upvote you fuck.
I would unlock the bootloader, but not sure if that’s your cup of tea.
Beside that, looking up in XDA if there are any gcam available, but i doubt it (too new)
Nah, magisk hide works great (rooted Mix 3)
No need for xioami ads, they can be disabled. However blokada is great for free apps and browser ads ♥
First thing to do ? Unlock, get rid of MIUI and install a custom ROM.
Enjoying
whoa, that jar looks great.
Ill check up which apps can be uninstalled, since i use a lot of mi apps (specially ShareMe)
Dont update it, unless you love bugs and errors
Make a giveaway
OK thanks. Maybe i’ll try someday
OK thanks. Maybe i’ll try someday.
Or you could take 3 second motionless video of it and post it on reddit. It’ll be amazing.
My bank has pretty hard to bypass modification detection. Once its tripped your phone is blacklisted until you hard reset or reflash/erase.
Absolutely agree, custom rom days are over for me. Stock roms are fine. If you dont like launcher, use a different one.
such questions are not to he asked in official xiaomi groups🤣
You should turn it on
Does relock the bootloader will restore the ability to use google pay?
Mine doesn’t, I do live in europe tho
I don’t have ads on my redmi note 7
OP just has to be aware that the removal of some apps may introduce issues and bugs
Install gcam and get 10x better pictures.
Yep i just thought this was obvious all apps are documented on some basic website that is hard to find I’ll try and find it again and post a link here (it’s a true gem) you can always reinstall an app btw if it doesn’t cause the entire phone to not boot (which is unlikely)
Ackhsually Yes the Poco X3 does have ads.
Two routes, keep stock software or install Xiaomi EU rom. EU rom requires you to unlock your bootloader which requires linking your mi account and waiting about a week then unlocking it.
Otherwise debloat as much as possible, install nova launcher or your launcher of choice. Install YouTube vanced and YouTube music vanced, install gcam
unlock bootloader even if you don’t plan to flash anything now. it’s a big deal if miui break some day.
Enable dark mode
Debloat
Go to each setting option one by one. Turn off as many unnecessary permissions as possible. Like show suggestions (they’re ads). I like enabling gestures. MIUI 12 has a separate privacy setting which is nice.
Install a different launcher (I use lawnchair with sesame)
Install file manager (currently using mixplorer)
Install blokada
Install newpipe (youtube alternative)
Install boost (reddit app)
Install other must have apps (I haven’t tried helium in a long time but it’s an app to make migration of app and app data easier iirc)
Enjoy. If you feel like you need to root, then do it. Right now I don’t have any backup phone so I’m cautious with experimenting with custom roms.
o: I have a Mix 3 too, but I see none.
Where are you seeing ads?
My Mi 10 Lite does too
I switched to the xiaomi.eu global OS after a couple of months and love it..
I’ll check later but i remember disabling them in settings.
Unlock your bootloader and install [xiaomi.eu](https://xiaomi.eu) rom, you won’t regret it. You might also want to backup everything first though.
turn it on
Turn it on maybe?
Just disable the ads, there are guides for it on the internet. If mi browser annoys you use ADB to remove it (search pm uninstall ADB command on the internet or just use the debloat tool that many have already linked). If you’re into unlocking just link a mi account and wait a couple weeks (if you’ve already linked it don’t mind and when you’re ready/bored you can mod it). If ads that are not Xiaomi’s annoy you search for private DNS in the network settings and put in dns.adguard.com
Well in my country (India), there are no ads whatsoever in Poco & Mi phones. I guess that could differ from region to region
Well in my country, Poco phones don’t any ads whatsoever. It seems that is not the case in all regions.
You essentially have to do it, or you will have ads everywhere.
Delete bloatware and remove adverts
Try out the video camera, heard it’s great!
Make a phone call?
Throw it away!
It always depends on which country you set your phone in . We don’t have ads in greece for example .
What useless apps? Just asking cause I am also new to Xiaomi
Well Xiaomi installs by default A LOT of useless apps : mi drop, mi browser, mi downloads. These apps were also very criticized because they seem to be sending your data to Xiaomi’s servers
Well I personally think you shouldn’t do this unless this is not a daily-use smartphone. Because when rooting a phone you first loose data and mostly triggers safety net to false. So no more netflix and a lot of others apps (like banking for example)
That’s impossible since a recent update in may/June : https://www.xda-developers.com/safetynet-hardware-attestation-hide-root-magisk/amp/
That’s impossible since a recent update in may/June : https://www.xda-developers.com/safetynet-hardware-attestation-hide-root-magisk/amp/
Yes but relocking bootloader means erasing all your data, wipe system partition (usually you need a custom recovery for that) and then flash an official MIUI
Unlock the phone and install custom ROM.
open pornhub
The debloating doesn’t need root, I did in my xiaomi and it’s working
Flash it with a non Xiaomi rom. Check xda for what options are available to you
I already know about that but you know there’s always a way, I’m running Android 10 with latest security update, I have a custom ROM with Magisk and Xposed and I still pass the SafetyNet check, never had any problem with any app, my banking app and Google Pay are working just fine too
Wish I waited and got this..don’t get me wrong the 8t is very good but this looks awesome for the money
I had not until I updated through OTA to miui 12. I’m not sure why there are Roms without ads and roms with. I had a few years ago another xiaomi redmi and no ads even seeing people on forums talking about them.
How bad are the ads? Thinking of giving Xiaomi another go but the ads are too much.
Last I saw was a 90 day disablement of ads:
I zoomed in to look at the specs and wondered why my hands were shaking so much
Zero ads on my K30 Pro
Does xiaomi.eu rom come debloated?
Doesnt matter how, but destroy it. XD (joke dont do it 😀 )
Return it!
Unlock bootloader. It happened with many xiaomi phones that update bricked them
The X3 is confirmed to have it, in particular when you install an app.
Also that “virus scanning” software on the Poco F1 is collecting information. It’s practically useless too.
Ah thanks, I’ll have a look around
It’s pretty telling when all of them want phone calls permission or they just stop working
Remove bloatware
Unlock…. Then root.
Look through the apps and disable recommendations.
Well the first thing you should do is flex it right in front of my face and laugh
Yes. If you go the their forums, there’s a list of features.
It’s not available for the X3 yet, but it takes a while to unlock the bootloader anyway, so maybe it will be available by then.
Many on my Mi Note 10.
My Mi Note 10 bought in EU has plenty of ads.
Congratulations my friend. Enjoy your new phone!
Use it like a smartphone, not as a jewel or status symbol. Phones are meant to use, not to prove a point or be the follower of a cult
I have watched I think mrwhosetheboss review and ads what he showed were horrendous.
Disable ‘msa’ in app manager
Disable all the miui apps or don’t open them at all
Install Blokada from their website
Remove bloat..!✌🏻
Install xiaomi.eu rom and root it 🤜🏻🤛🏻
Thanks. I myself is receiving the Mi 10 lite soon, can’t wait to use a custom rom!
I think thers a way to remove them tho
Will i be able to have a custom rom with a k30 ultra
I’m not sure what problems people have with miui, but its fine for me. Most OSes and flavours come with preinstalled apps anyway. The bloat i have comes from photos and videos which the sd card comes in very handy.
Secondly, where do i find the ads on my realme? I get a ton of annoying ads in youtube, how do i turn those off by default?
Are the ads specific to certain markets, phones or both? I’m in the EU with a mi 9 lite and haven’t seen any ads. Nor on my old note 4.
Ive seen people mention ads online but I’ve never been sure if it’s just not on my phone model or if it’s an EU thing?
Test if you can play audio via bluetooth and have usable Wi-Fi on 2.4GHz. if you get excessive amount of latency or sound noice/drops you might wanna return the device if you plan on ever using bluetooth headphones.
Turn the phone on
For me the only useless ones are Mi downloads (jus pure crap), Mi Services and Feedback (well, you can report bugs and feedback too and help MIUI improve if you want to), ShareMe (I used it like … Twice in an entire year, plus it can be downloaded from Play Store), Mi Browser (I use Chrome but Mi browser does have some useful features and looks nice)
The 90 days disabling of ads is in Mi Video I think (which is kinda a shit video app, VLC or Mx player is btr). For other system apps you just have to spend like 3min to disable them, not even bad at all. People over exaggerated the ads.
Bruh disable them from the individual app settings. It takes like 3min…
It’s an unboxing, he didn’t really spend time going thru all the individual app settings and disabling ads (aka recommendations). It takes like 3min.
That’s false. They have ads, I used Mi 9, Mi 9T and Poco F1, all have ads. It’s not even a problem tbh because you just need to spend like 3min disabling them.
I use a Xiaomi mi 9 too. You just need to spend like 3min disabling the ads from their individual settings (only file manager, security, Mi browser, Mi Video). Themes app’s ads cannot be disabled (I mean you only use it to download themes anyway)
Use it???????????
Don’t forget the design. Make sure you look at it, like *really* look at it. Check it out, all the little details and niceties. You probably won’t be taking the time to really appreciate it, when you’re using it everyday and all used to it.
Mediatek so no.
In-app ads for somes and notification ads for all of them.
* Go to setting and all stock apps setting, and turn of ad notifications
* install Gcam
* install other browser app
* install boost for reddit
* go to setting > autostart > turn them off (including system apps)
* go to setting > manage apps > find each stock apps that you don’t use and restrict their data and battery usage (carefull here)
> Don’t unlock your bootloader, unless you specifically need to mess around with custom firmwares and what not. Very wrong! Rooting will mess with all that. You can unlock bootloader, install [Xiaomi.EU](https://Xiaomi.EU) for example and everything will work 100 % without issues.
I use Pocophone F1 and it has ad…. The ad policy is different in each region and MIUI version (not just the device series)
Even my Poco F2 Pro has ads
Welcome to MI family. Use miui for one year. Till the warranty. Then switch to loads of custom roms for every MI phones. And maybe that’s the best part of buying a Xiaomi phone.
Everything you see in the debloater tool can be uninstalled without a problem.
Yes disable all options while first boot and second download xiaomi toolbar.jar file from GitHub and remove all mi bloatware!(including calculator and clock) You are good to go!
Disable tracking and ads
That’s just like 30 to 60 pictures per second!
Turn off MIUI optimization!
Turn em on
For this version ads are for a global and chinese version.
Does that include installing apps from google play store?
Also does flashing eu rom void use of banking apps? And is it easy to install?
Can you disable that scan?
Is there a tutorial of this? Sounds important to do and very bad if isn’t done.
If NFC so special that they need to put it on the front of the box? Seems like basic hardware.
Im quite new and just heard about custom roms but iv seen that mediatek chips could be custom rommed
-Mediatek casually violates GPLv2
-Begonia(Redmi Note 8 Pro) got a pass because of a factory firmware leak
-Developing in Mediatek is a pain for developers
Overall devs just staying away from Mediatek and just develops for Snapdragon/Exynos
Welcome is a nice phone but its have ads if you can’t remove ads you should install a custom rom like Pixel experience
Turn it on
Unlock bootloader and remove bloatware first then flash [Xiaomi.eu](https://Xiaomi.eu) rom that is adds free
That fucking mi remote wants my location info. Just why?
Disable ads, apply for bootloader unlocking if wanted
Check if there’s a thread on XDA and search for a stable and reliable ROM. I personally love Pixel Experience ROM.
If not, check if MIUI EU ROM is available.
Ubl and port some roms on it 😄
When you see an ad there is somewhere to click that you can turn off recommendations and the ads are gone. The scanner thing after installing an app can be disabled. Otherwise when you see the ad click upper right corner and untick recommendations. In the cleaner app go to my page, settings and untick recommendations. The cleaning can also be disabled.
>install
>
>Xiaomi.EU
>
>for example
I always did that with my older phones (Redmi 1S and the Mi4c) because there was no global roms back then. But [xiaomi.eu](https://xiaomi.eu) roms come rooted by default (if they don’t know, they sure used to), i’m pretty sure.
Start the one week unlock timer and then head up to [xiaomi.eu](https://xiaomi.eu) and see where is the rom for your device. 🙂
pray for no bugs with a new version of MIUI
Sure but disabling or using ADB fastboot is different than not having ads at all from the get-go.
Is a custom ROM available for Poco X3?
tbh I don’t know if I can trust a ROM from some forum, too many opportunities for backdoors to be snuck in. And no one is doing security audits of these ROMs or bootloaders, rather everyone is trying to get the camera and bluetooth to work.
Well, you could always get a much crappier Samsung A71 at around the same price you bought the Mi Note 10 for, but it won’t have ads from the get-go (yay). No one’s forcing you to get a Xiaomi phone.
Kind of, its hidden and even then comes back with every update.
Every time you install an app it needs to “scan it” to make sure its safe. But it really does little and then reports back to somewhere what you’ve installed and sometimes shows an ad for recommended software.
Wow so defensive
How isit defensive lol. I’m just saying you get ads because they’re selling phones at a lower price than competitors. Plus If you don’t want ads from the get-go you can always get another brand.
Hey,
What are the Mi browsers usefull features? I never tried before.
