Xiaomi used to have amazing cameras on their phones but recently they’re camera hardware has gone downhill. Xiaomi has budget gaming phones already, but can someone explain how they think they are going to sell people a $650 phone with the camera hardware from their $240 Redmi Note 10 Pro? What makes this that different from a Poco f3 gt and why can I get a phone from a bunch of other MFGs with OIS at different prices points but not from Xiaomi? I understand the lenses are different but no OIS and a potato wide angle camera! I’ll probably do a video about this on my channel but I’m tired of being called a Xiaomi hater and wanted to vent here instead of on youtube

I skipped it. Stuck with old phone. Will never buy curved
It’s a no-no for me also, have to be flat so I can keep using the cheap glass screen protectors like I’ve done for many years. No protector=scratches and plastic or expensive glass protectors no thanks either
I used to root all my phones back then and had even overclocking and undervolting on my Note 2 but today it makes zero sense imo. Most of the shit you could do with a rooted phone back then can’t be done easily anymore. Also I need my banking apps and last time I checked, root hider didn’t do the trick.
Performance wise, the sub-200€ phones now are better than the also then over 600€ flagships in 2016. (I had those) The build quality was already better than on the cheap phones now but looking back at 2013, it’s no more than 8 years ago and even the flagship build quality was shit like Samsung Note 3 cost 600€ and was all plastic. (I had that one) I bought my Mi 9t Pro in 2019 for 399 and it’s the best phone I ever had and even the build quality is good.
Don’t forget this phone only can use half of SD 888 performance which mean you would get worst performance than SD 865+/870
If it’s curved, I assure you, it is, to me.
Couldn’t care less. Anything over 30w is fine.
Very sad to see the great phones, have curved displays though.
No infrared.
I looked it up thou, the Mi 11 Pro has a disgusting curved display doesn’t it?
So should I get the note 10 pro, not the 11t pro?
I need a new phone.
Yup very disappointed, was planning to upgrade my mi10t pro to this, but it’s more of a downgrade plus a price hike.
The mi10t pro was 12000 this one starts at 16990… Without ois nope.
Yeah, I got it a week or two ago and its going for similar price now too.
Great for you that you got a deal, but we’re talking about current market prices here
I’ve heard varying results. For the most part the 10t Pro’s camera is better though.
If good enough in unacceptable for you then clearly it’s not good enough. I feel like there should be phones for people who want a really good camera on their phones, and people who want to save a few bucks and don’t mind the camera not being absolutely amazing.
If it takes good enough pictures, yeah. Or maybe they could add options for which camera you want.
I talk about the 9 non pro
What do you mean “acts like eyes”? Is it stereo?
Oh nice!
I love Xiaomi has a brand, but they have 2 major problems: To many phones to give support and MIUI. Because of the latter, my next phone will not be a Xiaomi unfortunately.
Doesn’t the OnePlus Nord 2 have OIS? And it’s a 400€ phone.
I use dark mode, low brightness and hardly ever play demanding games so it’s mostly social media, sudokus and such. I consistently get over 8h and once I reached **16h**!
Thank you so much!! i keep mistaking it for oxygen operating system for some reason.
I sold mine because it got laggy 🙁 shoudve gotten the mi 9t pro instead
What about the f3 is flagship?
Damn it. I also have a 9T since launch and besides changing the screen protector and cover, it’s like the first day.
By how it looks like, I hope the battery will last a long time. I really like it.
Optical image stabilization. It’s hardware that allows for better photos and video.
Sorry I’m noob but whats OIS?
good, here they are 350-400 but new, the 4g snapdragon version
I bought mine used for 300
Yeah at 350 that’s a ripoff
I do, and it’s the best balanced phone I have used. My mi 10 was close though
You’re preaching to the choir, say it louder for the people in the back
It’s both the hm2, the difference in f stop is about 35% more light…..
I know, I’ve tested and compared it on my channel with and without gcam
That’s so true, so true. You should look up the difference between an e3 AMOLED and e4 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You can get battery replacement for them for cheap as hell too!
Thanks fam
T series are variables from Redmi, actually. for ex. Mi 10T is Redmi K30S ultra in China.
And I always have thought that T means Taiwan edition, since Taiwan always sells Ts first then the regular Mi ones. LOL
100% agree. Love showing off my full screen (no ugly notch or hole)
That’s the reason why I’ll not buy another Xiaomi phone.
I love photography, and I can now find OIS even in low end midrange from Samsung, like A22.
Probably I’ll go with Galaxy S21FE next time. Goodbye xiaomi and lack of OIS
Whats the problem? This is a product for outside China, nobody got 120W and they start with 650€, can go down to 399€ with good profit. When OnePlus can sell something like OnePlus 9 with plastic and without OIS, they can do it too.
if only my mix 3 battery wouldnt last 4 hours 🙁
That looks like metal mid frame: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sl0CzcteSGE
Yeah, sucks that it has no OIS though
To me MIUI is the best part about them.
No. It’s not at all like that.
Wait and see
Actually there was a Redmi K30 Ultra with popup and 120hz OLED but it never made it global :((
Very high quality videos, you need more views and subscribers, I smashed that like button and subscribed! Keep it up!
Who carries a camera around with them everywhere?
Oh yes, I love my Mi 9T as well, working pretty fine. Usually the folks over r/mi9t are complaining about the battery and exchanging info about custom roms, but my battery seems just fine, I get around 7h SOT, and I am tired of messing around with custom ROMs.
I join the club, I love my Mi 9T, such a great display with no obstructions, hope it stays working for more. I know that this is out of context, but I’ve noticed that gcam takes seemingly better front camera photos in 5 mp than the stock camera in 20 mp. The gcam photos just look more clear, where in the stock camera they are a little blurred and that is with all the smoothing and “beauty” effects completely off.
I’ll definitely keep my Mi9T, hope it doesn’t fail me anytime soon. I’m very annoyed at Xiaomi’s 50 phones a year, some can easily confuse their names, and there are always complaints with the updates!
Look, the POCO F3 has very good specs, but its terrible, most screens are broken with uniformity issues, and proximity sensor bugs, the Mi 11 lineup doesn’t have so good specs but its much better optimiced and cared for bugs and they take more time supporting it. Its not all about the numbers, for that you have the POCO and Redmi Note lines to attrack all those dumb buyers who think higher numbers always translate to better experience.
UK price includes 20% VAT (our version of sales tax). So it is actually £183.33 before tax = about $252.
LOOOOOOL how long did this take you to write?🤣🤣🤣🤣
Btw, at that point, searching the normal versions (like a “mi 10”) may bring worse results than mi 10 pro/ultra. I ~have to type mi 10 5g to differenciate it and get good results about what I need.😂
😅👍
PS. About plastic backs, they might be better than glass; cheaper, lighter, harder to crack and about the same thermal conductivity.🙃 Plus, it may not be glued too.😅
Like, all of the “mid range” and below Chinese phones have EIS but no OIS.
It was a very flagship spec thing until recently. Phones like the poco F3 that are “budget flagship” have flagship like specs with the snapdragon 870 and the 120Hz amoled screen and everything, but they don’t have things that aren’t super necessary to still make it a decent quality phone, like OIS / wireless charging / IP68 waterproofing / a metal mid frame etc etc.
I wouldn’t pay flagship flagship price for no OIS tho. Oneplus took that out of the 9 and put in a plastic frame and it’s still super expensive. That’s just taking the piss
What? Dude I got a poco f3 for $360 and Redmi note 10 pro (sweetin with 64MP cam) for 17k INR ($230) before price hike. 108MP Note 10 pro was just 3k higher, so \~$275.
Cameras aren’t everything.
The processor can make a massive difference in picture quality just from the image processing capabilities, even on the same camera setup.
The f number is slightly different from the main cam on gsmarena https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=11100&idPhone2=10662
I can’t find the actual sensor names on dxomark for Xiaomi phones like I normally can for other brands so that’s less solid info for comparison.
Here are their scores for Mi 11
https://www.dxomark.com/xiaomi-mi-11-camera-review-an-eye-for-detail/
And note 10 pro
https://www.dxomark.com/xiaomi-redmi-note-10-pro-camera-review-balanced-budget-shooter/
They are different
~~Do they still sell phones without ois?~~
Haha, why do you think I got a mi 10 (~500€)?😅 Very good hardware and with all the modding I’ve dome to it I ~like it.👌 But for ~half a thousand euros I think they could at least add an audio jack, an sd card slot and a battery back that isn’t glued… I’m thinking of ungluing the back apart from the top edge, have the top like a hinge and keep the back in place with my ringke case.
PS. It ~isn’t even waterproof and there are devices like go-pros with removeable batteries that are waterproof..
Yea, that should be a norm. Same (perfect) design and just upping the specs.
Porsche is doing that with 911 for more than 50 years.
i dont want 888 overheats for almost nothing 875 is good enough
they never had “amazing” cameras
they had servicable cameras with good chip with great performance at affordable price
Not that good camera , pixel3a much better
I actually bought a car whose rear view mirror is actually comparably smaller then my car before. While car is more expensive.
It didn’t turn out that I actually needed to buy a ballroom mirror, imagine that.
Can you imagine the 9T design with the 870 and 120Hz screen? I’d buy that right now.
Most of Xiaomi devices have 3rd party ROMs support with active communities who update them and many of them run better than google Pixels, so with 300-400euros you get crazy good high end device that can compete with latest galaxies etc
I have a mi 11 and in fact I didn’t wanted to leave the popup camera (I’m a mi 9t pro fellow 🙂 ) but the screen on my phone is just so beautiful and big that I don’t minded the camera under the screen.
Moreover they are making camera which acts like eyes (hello Xiaomi Fold) or camera invisible under the screen (Xiaomi is the first I think to file a patent on this kind of technology)
Soon the popup cameras will know their invisible descendants under the screen and we’ll be finally fully satisfied my friend 🙂
Yeah and planned obsolescence.
(At least unlocking the bootloader ~doesn’t void the warranty..)
It is the Canon eos 200D. Idk about the price at the moment but it was sometimes at around 400€ when in sale.
I think it’s all marketing, they know exactly what they are doing to continue bringing new phones to the table, they take something here, put something new here.
Which DSLR is that?
Redmi Note 10 Pro is $270 here in my “3rd world” country. 6/128 official price (with one year company warranty) converted to USD.
There are various (re)sellers based in US. $330 out the door for the 6/128 Redmi Note 10 Pro in US.
I love the slider of my Mix 3. I was a bit worried about longevity before i got it, especially since i work in a welding/machine shop so theres a bunch of nasty metal shavings and particles and stuff, but i’ve had it for years now and have had zero issues. Granted I rarely take selfies so I don’t use the slider very frequently, but in the beginning i used it as a sort of fidget toy lol, just sliding up and down because it was satisfying
Yea, the closest that match the specs now and are not too heavy are Sony 1,5 and 10 III gen.
I constantly check gsmarena filter for new releases without notch.
Sadly the new phones are getting tooo big and heavy. Even 9T is on my limit with that.
haha definitely. I mean they were a good release. I was and am very picky and ticked all the boxes for me.
Not were! Still are!
Dude the 9Ts were such a good phone to begin with. My 9T Pro is working like the first day and i absolutely love it, the best phone I’ve ever had, hands down.
Yup, even more now that is around 350-400usd
Why was the Galaxy Camera such a flop then?
OnePlus always do the same thing here in the UK when releasing the Nord when they release the Nord last year’s flagship is usually the same the same price or cheaper for example when the Nord 2 launched for £399 the 8T was available on Amazon for £349.
I absolutely agree. I have a Dslr for ~400€ and the Pictures are way better than any phone will probably be able to do in the next 10 years.
Plus earlier this year you could purchase the Mi 11 on sale for only £549. Do makes the 11T Pro pointless in my opinion if they weren’t going to even include the Snapdragon 888 plus I can’t understand why they even released this phone to be honest considering the much inferior cameras as well. I know the T series is supposed to be a budget version of the standard 11 each year but far too much has been cut in my opinion. Guarantee this will still sell better than standard 11 in Europe and the UK though as all T series phones have fir reasons I can’t explain the none T version always becomes very rare and hard to find on the used market here in the UK.
Yeah, I wouldn’t game on a phone for instance, but I totally get that for some people it’s the major selling point. Hence why gaming phones exist, etc.
I can’t even remember the last time I made a phone call on a mobile, tbh. We’ve come a long way since that was the principal use case, I reckon!
Exactly. I think its a certain type of user for whom camera is not important, but a fast CPU and GPU is. I’m not in that demographic.
Any shitty phone $100 and up can run Facebook and Uber. Apps are no longer how a phone’s performance is measured, for the majority.
Yeah, it’s one of the main selling points nowadays. They’re more than just phones, they’re pocket media tools. They wouldn’t make such a big deal about the cameras if that wasn’t reflected in how the user base receive them, y’know?
Me too. Will get a zenfone 7 or 8 Flip in the future if no 9T substitute come from Xiaomi.
> What do you lose without all that stabilization and ai crap?
Good videos and photos is all that you lose without stabilization and good HDR and denoising algorithms. So nothing major 🙄
I agree with you. Any phone can do apps, any phone can do phone calls and whatsapp. However a good camera is where the mid-range separates from the top-end, and good mid-rangers from the shitty ones (like this one).
I would never buy a phone without OIS anymore.
Literally best bang for the buck since the poco f1
Lol, you understand that for the majority of people in the world they own one camera right?
Anything less than super bright sunny condition it will be much worse
Do you know the difference between an e4 and an e3 display? Ive looked this up but I’m curious if others have since the e3is in the Redmi note 10 pro and the precious poco had an e4
I have a camera. It doesn’t fit in my pocket and I don’t want to lug it around with me everywhere.
“The best camera is the one you have on you.”
if u wanna take pictures buy a camera….its like buying a car and saying the mirror is to small and how horrible mercedes is for making that small sidemirror….
One word, or two xD: S20FE
then buy a camera jason?
🤦♂️
also dont really care about a camera, if u wanna take pictures, buy a fkin camera, i hate the camera trend, they should focus more on software and innovate stuff and not up the camera everytime and put premium prices
I’m the other way around – the camera is the most important part for me (as I don’t do much else; don’t care about gaming, etc.)
I love my Mi 11, but frustrated that it didn’t have a zoom camera and the Mi 11 Pro wasn’t available outside of China.
so how it perform in comparison to mi 10t pro? the sensor is better but lack of stabilization make it worse, right?
sry my bad… gsmarena had wrong info on their site
It doesn’t have OIS, and also it has a extremely weak ultrawide for the price
Wtf my Mi 10T has got better ultrawide than 11T Pro
Well I didn’t say it makes sense from a buyer’s perspective. From what I’ve seen in the past the T series drops it’s price to around 250-350€ while all the main mi phones stay at around 500€ so in a few months buying the 11T will probably make more sense. Personally I wish they would just stop releasing so many phones and fix their software. I bought the Poco F3 in May and I’m still running on a security patch from June.
No they didn’t they actually used a fine sensor but no ois. The hm2 is literally on par with other flagship sensors
I love the tele on my s20fe
Basically yeah
Ive literally said this to death, f3 isnt a flagship killer (no flagship components and don’t @me) but the fact the f3 has a 2 year old camera from a mid ranger is a joke. No gcam doesnt fix it
Its the sensor from the Redmi note 10 pro. The nona 9:1 sensor. Newer sensor but the lack of ois meams the performance in the real world will be same/similar, much much much worse for video
Still a solid phone
Yeah for real. I have an F3. If it had the camera of the Redmi Note 10 Pro then literally no phone on the planet would ever surpass it in value
T series is the budget flagship device series of Xiaomis main brand
Camera aparature seems a bit better than redmi note 10 pro.
But without OIS it’s rather pointless (speaking from experience, having mi 9t pro)
does anyone know if that sensor is better then the one used in mi 10t pro? (mi 11t pro has S5KHM2 and mi 10t pro has S5KHMX)
nope xiaomi just used very bad camera sensor….
I fucking love the popup camera, I wish that trend stayed longer. Now we either get some shitty hole punch, or underwhelming under screen camera’s. For someone who doesn’t take selfies everyday and doesn’t use face unlock it’s 10/10
Happy cake day!🙃
Also that’s the price of a mi 11. Which is bettar
Also, no tele. I got my Mi9 specifically because it offers a tele lens, offering a lot more than the pest that is wide angle smartphone photography.
I’m not looking to import anything, I’m not even in the US
Check on Newegg if you care, it’s 350$
I think that at $250 the RN10P is a fantastic deal with a great screen wonderful camera and insane battery life.
Uh why are you looking to import a phone to america? of course its going to be a terrible deal because you are buying from a consumer who is buying these at retail prices and flipping them on amazon, i know because i have an amazon store
Yes, but the problem is the software. My Mi 11 photos don’t blow me away compared to my old 12MP Mix 2s photos.
I believe they offer very competitive value for the money, however, after my last purchase, I was hesitant after TWO Redmi note 9 pros crapped the bed in a way that was side eye inducing.
I have the Redmi note 10 and minis mild hiccups, it’s been solid but I do not entertain the illusion that value means infallible. Their software can be jarring..
Well, you ~just want big sensors, MPs probably come next (and the software). Those new big sensors have a good thing that they not only are big (capturing a lot of light) and have many MPs, but they can do pixel binning to give you lower resolution, but higher color accuracy images. Also, something else they *might* do is real time hdr. What this means is that the pixels that are close to each other record at different exposures without the need of taking multiple pics.
~If only you could control aperture though.. My mi 10 has around f/1.7 aperture and if you photograph a paper from close half of it may be out of focus..

I think the issue here is that there are the TOO MANY phones and variants. Xiaomi releases new phones almost every month. (Even though I dislike apple, they release like ~5different devices per year, while xiaomi ~50devices per year..) It gets much harder to bring updates for all these. Eventually, a just 2 years old device ~gets forgotten, even if it cost a lot. (~Not that this is an issue for them..)
PS. In ~2016, 200€ were ~ok for a midrange and ~300€ for a “very good” phone. Now 300€ is ~a low end device… And “somehow” low end devices ~have sd support and audio jacks..
but it’s basically the same price as the mi 11 now
Notice how xiaomi did their example n -10c when their biggest userbase is located in hot tropical climates 😉
redmi note 10 pro or xiaomi mi 10 pro?
Thanks mate, appreciate it
now that i have left Xiaomi for a daily device everyone is angry because they want to feel good about their purchase decision but ultimately leaving the xiaomi fanbase and moving away from their devices was better for the channel
Hater
That’s the whole point of the T series. To be more affordable (while sacrificing some specs).
Three videos in, and I enjoy your comparison videos
I found you. Your video on miui wasn’t received very well apparently
Search my username
I for example couldn’t care less about the camera in a phone. I still won’ buy it as I don’t need a new phone right now but I hate having to pay the premium for the camera on all phones with good hardware as it is a feature I don’t use.
fyi 220£ is 305$. 350$ is MSRP iirc, you can probably get it as low as 320$
Do you have a link to your YouTube channel?
that 120W charge dude
Even the 10T Pro has OIS
Is it? Expensive in your parts. It’s around £220 here.
Note 10 Pro is 350, not 240
Also a punch hole camera in late 2021??
Bye, I’m keeping my Mi 9T.
I know, i’ve already done a deep dive regarding this on my youtube channel from a technical aspect. There are reasons why cinema cameras and video cameras in general have low MP
Moar MP is just a gimmick
