I just ordered the global version of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, and I’m not normally someone who messes with the pro mode in the camera app very often.
I was wondering if the 15 Ultra still takes good pictures in Leica Authentic & Vivid mode? I’ve read a few articles that say it’s point and shoot results are pretty lackluster.
I have the 15 ultra for about 3 weeks now, and it absolutely takes amazing pictures with point and shoot. Whereas point and shoot is; tap for focus and take pictures.
This method can be inconsistent sometimes, especially with low light, but if you learn a bit about photography 101, the pro mode can help you.
My feeling about this camera is that it has an absolutely high ceiling, but it takes time and experience to reach it. For the average person, it already sets a high standard.
Some will and some of won’t, just like it happens video games, sports and anything in life so you can’t generalize like that.
I’ve just recently found out you can make ‘presets’ in the pro mode that would probably make it easier to access, almost like a point and shoot… Still have to try it, though. I have seen many of these presets to even make the photo look like a Fuji or film. Found these presets in Rednote, so give them a look, they may do the trick for you. Cheers!

But overall package phone. Vivo user for 4 years it was absolutely worthless experience granted current phones are better but still. Wasn’t able buy new phone because of pandemic issue and was stuck with vivo and I was absolutely tired of that phone.
If you’re an auto mode shooter the 15U is overkill. A base Xiaomi 15 would have sufficed or even something like a Pixel or iPhone.

100% agreed as an U15 user. Very tempted to move across to the X200 Ultra.
They will because few months new camera king will appear with additional features. Always look bigger picture entire phone rather than just 1 aspect. I do agree photographers will need great camera phone however they will never just use mobile phone camera but a dslr as well.
15U honestly is not really strong in Point and Shoot especially for lowlight. But if you can fully understand your camera settings you can easily capture wonderful looking shots. A point tap shoot, is what I say it. You point your camera to your subject, tap to focus and exposure (adjust to your preference if needed) and then shoot. Not a pro as well but I’ve been using this technique and is giving me a professional looking shots.
If you can wait, X200 Ultra and Find X8 Ultra look amazing as well. You may try to wait for them and check for comparison.
Yes it is a great camera for point and shoot, I currently own a Vivo x200 pro and the Xiaomi 15 U and I personally like the Xiaomi 15 U better, with the Xiaomi I can take the pictures than I take with the vivo (with a little tuning) but with the vivo u can’t take the Pictures that u get with the Xiaomi (that particular drama)

Never buy phone just keeping camera in mind because very soon you will loose interest in it.
It is a point and shoot device! I don’t know why Xiaomi tried to advertise it the other way- thats it for photographers and not casual shooters. Everything is in auto mode only even the night mode. For photographers they already removed variable aperture which would have given more control. Pro mode i guess one takes for very particular scenarios like if one trying for long exposure or varying the shutter speeds etc. Mobile photography I guess is more than 90% auto mode and it does well. As all mobile cameras are designed for auto mode primarily
I think the auto mode is fine.
But of course there are occassions where I need the shutter speed to be of a certain number for fast subjects then need to manually tweak.
Else I think the auto mode is looks pretty decent at least for me, YMMV.

That depends on the individual. Someone who loves to take photos and record videos will no lose interest in that anytime soon if at all.
