This launcher is amazing for MIUI users, developed by Xiaomi itself. It’s just the default MIUI launcher, with app drawer.
Why this launcher is awesome:
• Icon Pack (both from Play Store as well as Theme Store)
• IT HAS DOUBLE TAP TO SLEEP! (No root, accessibility, device administrator permission required!)
• Extremely well optimised for MIUI
• Fluid & butter smooth animations
• Hide apps with secure fingerprint
• You can use all the default MIUI widgets like clock & weather & various shortcut like lock screen (you can’t use those on any custom launchers)
• If you’re on MIUI 9 & above, it also has those animations, where if launch an app, settings for example, when you go home, the icon of settings animates just like MIUI launcher.
• It supports all the way back to MIUI 8
• It consumes very little battery
• No ads/in-app purchases/bullshit
• App Vault
[I highly recommend you guys to atleast try it out, it’s really good! It’s available on Play Store.] (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mi.android.globallauncher)
I am on motorola, its almost exactly like Motorola launcher, exept the sorting of folders and colour sorting of apps(which dosent really reduce time for searching an app)
It’s super fast if u have sesame app’s search widget at home page.
Nova is the best launcher ofc, but it’s useless with navigation gestures, so it’s no longer an alternative imo.
I want app search like ios or evie launcher, but miui just give no alternative options
Ofc not, as I said in my op, it’s extremely well optimised for miui
Does Poco Launcher have a high usage of CPU/RAM? Will it eat out my Note 7 resources?
App Vault *might* work on non-miui devices, but not miui widgets
Nope
Does a launcher cost extra battery?
OP, i was just reading some info and it appears to me an alpha version of the stock launcher with app vault, i really suggest to try it out(i think the only thing it lacks it was the double tap for sleep but for the other stuff works out the box)
Ignore it then, probably not for you 🤷🏻♂️
I have 2 problems with this launcher:
1. I did not find a way to set which screen is my “Home”
2. The Xiaomi Weather widget group was gone!
I’ve been using Nova for years. I tried Poco Launcher but I uninstalled the same day…
I haven’t used the Poco launcher but Nova is all about customisability. I like Evie launcher as well for a good balance between functionality and customisability.
It’s really worth installing the beta of Poco Launcher, as it gives you the option to create custom categories in the app drawer.
Well I have to say that I’m impressed! I tried nova launcher before and, for me, it was meh. A good launcher but its didn’t impressed to much. Now poco launcher it’s simple. It has a couple of features but the simplicity is Key !
Nice one OP.
Btw, I have a Xiaomi mi8.
The whole launcher
Lol, where else is it supposed to be dark?
Nova
It’s only there in the app drawer
Great launcher! Thanks mate.
I can’t find a way to set individual custom icons.
Does it still support the Mi Wallet ? I use that for transport cards via NFC mostly.
Also does it still support dual apps?
U just gave my stumbling slow Mi5 a new lease of life! Thanks!
I’m of the same mindset (Redmi Note 7 pro).
I installed and played around with Poco last night after reading about it here and it offers very little over the stock launcher apart from the app drawer and some mild customization ability, and it fails to rectify any of the stock launcher’s current biggest issues.
can you change app names on the home screen? i use a lot of lite apps.. so they’re all called ‘LITE’ which on nova, i can fix
Does it support Swiping on folders to another actions?
Thank you, I wasn’t aware of this. I’ll check it out.
I’d use the Poco Launcher if there was an option to change icons for individual apps, not a global icon pack. So I use Evie Launcher. Stable, smooth, very very good.
I use Nova. Haven’t looked back.
Meh. I try it and while it’s nice I never stick with it. My first major issue is that for whatever reason, on my RN7, I get black screens and wallpaper readjustments when leaving an app and going back home. I’m kinda anal about those things so I just use the stock launcher. Still, it’s a great launcher and I love fact that you can find icons based on their color in the app drawer.
If you click on main, it opens main, & if you click on dual marked app, it opens dual app. No select bullshit like other custom launchers
When you click on them does it open the option to select which one? Or automatically goes into the main one or dual app? This annoys me on stock Launcher have to choose every time
Doesn’t work on Mipad 4… 🙁
Thank you so much. It’s a perfect match for me. And I really appreciate the dark mode
This. This locks it and I’ve been using it for over 3 months and didn’t realize I could do that lol
No thanks, doesn’t come a mile close to NOVA launcher
The clear cache button on it doesn’t work
Nothing.
Same here.
How does it compare to nova
I would use Poco Launcher, but there is no option to remove the app drawer, which is a bummer for me.
The only thing I want to know if there’s any way to bypass the hours I have to wait to unlock the bootloader on my Redmi Note 5 pleeaseeee, I don’t want to wait 165 hours ughhhh
Can you find the wallpaper?
I have the nove prime is better launcher
if you install it how do you go back?
so what about notificatios? work better?
Can We add Google now?
yeah i waiting out for that update, if this occurs i will change again to stock launcher (since you can have both and just choose on phone settings) and test if it works for me… after all i just tried diferent launcher just for the app drawer
on your home screen.. you can double tap and go to sleep instead of pressing the physical button on your phone or wait for the screen to turn off
Fair enough! It seems like the MIUI stock launcher will get an app drawer as well ([see XDA](https://www.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-miui-app-drawer-app-shortcuts/)).
open app drawer – settings on the drawer (top left corner)- theres the option for change the app icons
i use evie for a while on my moto g2 and redmi 5 plus, but at the end i would want to stick to xiaomi features…
poco launcher is just stock xiaomi with app drawer
im pretty sure you can do it on poco launcher… just hold your finger on a blank space on home screen, choose settings and theres the option
I had it for months now, it’s really the best launcher I have used.
I loved it, the only con I see is that I cannot personalize the apps of each category in the app drawer… Other than that, this launcher is the best thing I’ve found, and works pretty well with the gestures
I do have the Pocophone F1 and I want to get rid of this damn launcher. It causes completely system crashes time to time. I hate App drawer like cancer.
Update: My mistake, after installing I see they have fixed it now and Poco Launcher is great.
Annoying thing with Poco Launcher is that you don’t get animating app icons when you go home.
got a mi 9
ok strange. because my Animations working totally fine with fullscreen-gestures.
Try using Mixed Icons, it lets you create your own icon pack from ones that you have installed
Did you already checked your devolper settings whether the following options are turned on at least to the setting “0.5”?
– Window Animation scale
– Transiton Animation scale
– animator duration scale
No auto rotate, which makes it totally useless for usage in my car.
Installed it. Very nice.
But I can’t seem to find a way to do custom categories and the app draw? Only automatic groups are available?
Haven’t seen any icon packs in the Play store that works for this launcher yet. Which ones are working for you?
i think it should become the default Mi launcher. it’s perfect!
My Animations are fine so far… what exactly it wrong?
Personally I do use it and yeah it’s decent.
I would recommend lawn chair beta.
What exactly is double tap to sleep and why is it in caps?
This. The mean thing that keeps me from using the Poco Launcher is the lack of being able to lock my homescreen setup. This is an important feature for seniors so they don’t mess up their home screen by accident.
Can we unistall it after installing it??
No option to close the drawer after launching an app, highly irritating.
It is really good launcher, but one thing is missing or I can’t find is how to change app’s icons.
Go to app drawer, double swipe right
Also, the dual apps are shown individually on app drawer.
Try and say for yourself. Nova launcher is more plain/stock android looking. But poco is a bit like oxygen os (bad analogy though). It’s stock, with added features.
App vault? Not needing to download extra apps for note widgets are quite nice imo
Team xiaomi eu. It’s my first time successfully installing a custom rom. Turns out it’s so easy.
It has all that features mentioned except hide apps and icon pack.
Better than Action Launcher?
I have a pocophone, so it’s already installed on it 😀
Meh, I was fine with no app drawer, I hope I can disable it
?
So whats the issue with it?
I’m on MIUI, no root. Nova’s double tap to sleep works for me
In which sense? I feel literally no lag whatsoever; where does the lag happen?
I find CPL Launcher to be more customizable with similar feel/look
It’s the stock launcher for Xiaomi Pocophone, so it’s true that it’s save and great for all MIUI especially 9 and 10. And it’s from Xiaomi so no need to worry for incompatibility
No ads, No in app purchases, no bullshit. Clean stock launcher for MIUI
Np, enjoy
I am running Nova on my Oneplus 6 and I have not rooted my phone. Double tap to lock the screen works fine.
Thanks! After running my g2 mini for 5 years, I’m finally back and learning ;). Mi 9 SE!
I do it over accessibility, so what’s the biggie here, that I don’t have to unlock the screen then? I use my fingerprint either way, so what’s the diff?
Ofc mate
is there any way to align applications starting from the bottom in the app drawer?
you can do double tap to sleep with Nova in gestures
Wow, I didn’t knew it being that easy. Uninstallation is as easy as well?
This is amazing! Great stuff. Thanks for sharing.
You mean double tab to lock the screen? You can do that without root, but it seems to need Android Pie. I have that set up on my un-rooted Mi 9T
Sweet!…thanks
Does it support app shortcuts?
i’ve been trying to get it to work since poco was in beta ( then it had a app vault ) but it’s gone
I have redmi 4x too. You need to turn on the app vault from settings, I think.
Might give it a try, although I’m extremely happy with [Evie Launcher](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=is.shortcut) — did you, by any chance, compare the Poco Launcher to Evie?
What are you talking about? Nova has double tap to lock the screen. Maybe I am misunderstanding something..
Same, so far there is not really a difference between stock and poco
Better than Nova?
sadly the app vault don’t work on my redmi 4x even on the latest beat, i’ve tried it many times before
i’m currrently using a alpha build of the miui system launcher with a app drawer👍👍
Absolutely yes, can’t imagine how someone can be still using it. It brings so much simplifications.
Don’t you have it ? Go for it. Poco launcher best for Xiaomi phones
between nova launcher and poco launcher which one is better?
Apart from the MIUI widgets, Nova does all of that.
What can it do that Nova Launcher can’t?
Me too, but on first usage I can not really find any benefits
I installed Poco Launcher just right now because of this post.
What are the advantages of that guy.
Ok, you can “hide” the unused apps in that drawer … But there’s no need about that.
So far so just took them to an “unused” folder and pushed the folder far back to the last screen …
I like the stock launcher because it is simple.
BTW my device is a Redmi note 6 pro
Yeah it is a good launcher.
I got it installed, it’s simple and easy in use. I will be using it for a while.
Yeah
[Nope just normally install it from Play store] (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mi.android.globallauncher)
Do you need to root/flash your device to install it? Sorry, I’m very new to these things,
Unless you have a poco phone…
Then it’s already installed
