tbh i would do the same thing if i am leading apple. the moment they use FaceID, removing it is very difficult. especially after they advertise it (tbh, i agree) being safer than fingerprint and is good as a fingerprint replacement.
if they remove it, it is just like saying “woops, turns out FaceID is not better than fingerprint, we’re going back to fingerprint now”.
i am curious what they will do with iphone next year. surely they can’t release the same front panel design as it is already outdated since last year. they will probably implement in screen fingerprint and they should minimise the notch (how will they do it without removing face ID though?)

If you talk about video, its not critically better, mostly in stabilisation. 99% dont need that powerful cpu anyway, and no its not twice as powerful than snapdragon, check antutu scores 😂 you still believe apple? A12 bionic only about 10% more powerful than Snapdragon 855, and last 855+ getting 405k score in antutu vs 380k in iphone Xs. Except that the photo and video quality that you can get on an iPhone11 is way better than any Xiaomi phone ever! Well, comes down to your preferences! I myself use OnePlus 7 pro, but I do prefer the apple ecosystem, nothing on android can come close to that really. I’m on android because I like big screens (with no notch or hole or anything) and always on display, every year apple add something new that me makes me want an iphone back, this year it was wide angle camera lens.

Ok, lets say design is not bad, but its outdated. Same design for three years. Even chinese companies change their design every year. And with Xiaomi, Oppo, Huawei etc, every year im impressed with new design. Now apple added another camera lens and they say “completely new design” in the begining of presentation?

Why change it if it is good? Also with their R&D budget they could create what ever they want but when they do something they do it the best. Yes the prices are high but tim cook knows it and he reduced it this year by 50 for the 11.
Chinese company changes the design like they change clothes but XS design is fine till full screen displays. Next year they will definitely change it and it would be a big change coz many things are happening next year and yeah even r/apple is mad at that “all new design” but thats just apple, their presentation keywords are like that.
A12 is better than S845 but i am saying that you can’t compare an 855 with A12 because 855 is this gen and A12 was last gen and 1 years old. Even every youtubers, bloggers and tech enthusiast agree that iPhone’s chip is the most powerful but you can’t because you don’t know enough.
Also the new A13 is so much better, did you even watch the keynote yesterday? The power management in that chip is insane to the point where everyone is thinking that the 11 pro will have one of the best battery life.
This year’s presentation was not bad as people make it, Last year’s Xs was bad.

I get your point, but to dismiss the importance of specs in a phone is just blind preference due to brand loyalty.
To add to what you have said, I don’t think they have any other alternative for that notch yet. As ugly as it is, they were the one that pioneered it. Since then Android phones manufacturers (especially Chinese ones) have rapidly come out with different designs to minimize or get rid of the notch (including just going back to bezels). At this point they can’t possibly come out with a new design without looking like ripping off an Android phone, which is unacceptable for the iPhone brand. I feel like iPhone users will be stuck with that big ugly notch until the under screen camera tech is perfected.

It records in 4K and just downscales to 720p to show you… Just like when you play a video that is a higher resolution than your screen on literally any monitor.

Best camera? Sorry but wake up friend. Google’s Pixel is there you know? Nothing beats Pixel in Camera department. And then there is Huawei, though they are not same level as Google in terms of Camera software optimisation, hardware wise they are solid.
iPhones are getting better. But their pace is too slow that others caught up and are going beyond. Tim Cook & team is too afraid to make serious changes that it’s only best in terms of iOS optimisation and it’s Bionic chips.
Nowadays iPhone is not special except in US thanks to Apple’s Walled gardens and Orange message bubble discrimination ( didn’t know about it, only learned of it in a news article, if u don’t know then Google it ).
They are slow. They have Good R&D yet their design ideas will make Steve Jobs roll in his grave. Every design change iPhone had in past was amazing and everyone appreciated it ( except icons design language change ).

Bezel reduction was started by Sharp in back ago. Then Mi Mix series brought it up again. Take any features and it’s others investment. 3D touch was their own stuff though.

iPhones are now just another phone that’s sitting comfy in top without too much R&D coz it already got people who are trapped in it’s ecosystem. They won’t be releasing how many units sold out anymore coz it didn’t sell good last time until XR which didn’t do well with investors.

I can respect their philosophy on why they do things like that and get away with it, and its just my decision to buy it or not. You are forgeting one thing – ecosystem is what makes Apple products so great. They sync inbetween without any hassles and noticeable hiccups. iPhone is overpriced, and I can agree with that statement. But when it comes to tech packed in a phone, they are cutting edge and they are the best you can buy out there purely on user experience.

I donot hate iPhone as in their hardware and build quality ( not back glass ) but do hate dirty social discrimination it created in US. But iOS & consistent security updates will is something I love.
The reason for hate toward Apple is it’s something of luxurious item nowadays rather than a smartphone. There is a gap between having an iPhone & having a phone. It’s my experience though. It’s getting worse when Apple are too afraid to make changes which don’t justify for an upgrade but only for resale value (just like luxury items ). They are now focusing more on selling old devices by launching new stuffs. Look at Apple watch, that’s more innovative but the phone? Still same.
I don’t mind them keeping the notch at all if 3D facial recognition is there. Heck, they can even go back to a proper forehead if they have 3D face unlock.

The SD845 is wasted in my mix3. I very nearly got the much cheaper lenovo Z5 pro instead but made the investment in the mix 3 because I know and trust miui.

Really? The Note 8 is underwhelming IMO, was expecting a SD and that was a disappointment. It’s barely an upgrade from the Note 7 but runs much warmer under heavy load. I was wanting to upgrade to the 8 Pro but it’s not worth it since it’s basically 13% faster than the 7 Pro across the board.
I remember a user saying those exact words over in Anadtech about 6 years ago. Every year Apple shatters records when it comes to sales. Not sure why users keep saying that they are gonna go down under. The iPhone XR sold 66% of their total units for the quarter, for a current estimated total of over 55 million units already shipped. An overpriced LCD based phone that is still selling like hotcakes. Go figure, and this is coming from a Mi user, no Apple products whatsoever in my household.
Apple is just capitalizing on the market because they know their customers are loyal and don’t really care about improvements. Hey, any company would sell the same phone to people twice a year if their customers were naive enough to buy them.

Screen quality weighs more importance than resolution in iPhones. Have you seen the video where 30 people actually chose the XR instead of the Pocophone (1080p) and none chose the 1080p?
Even the Note 10 went to 1080p for their smaller model. Apple did a great job in hiding their specs as I feel people are still ignorant in certain technicalities of a smartphone.

Disagree. A website can’t gather as much PI and tracking location as your phone. An app can hoover up your contacts, track your location all the time, see what other apps you use, trawl your entire storage and sdcard and send them off on the internet if storage permission is granted.

And now compare to thousands of different models of phones/tablets/fridges/etc. from hundreds of companies with absolutely different specs. And all of them can run Android and almost any app for it.

They don’t have 40% market share, maybe 40% of total revenue from the smartphone market because their per unit price his significantly higher. A few years ago, iphone sales have been flat, theres a point where people refuse to keep paying more and more for a phone brand.
