Last January i got a redmi note 12 4g. It was a big mistake. It worked very well for the first two weeks, but then overnight it updated to hyper os. At first i didnt see an issue with that, but lets just say it doesn’t work too well. It stutters while typing, the battery just dies in few hours, i cant even take a call half of the time. it sucks so bad. I regret geting a xiaomi again. Ive spent 3 months trying to unlock the bootloder so i can go back to miui but it just refuses to work. i even tried contacting support but they ghosted my emails. I wish i could just resell the phone but on the used phone market it goes for like 10% of the price i paid for it. Its not even worth selling. I hate this phone so much. Im just drained
The device is great, the software is sick
I hard reset it multiple times, i debloat it multiple times and nothing helped.
Even if they promised new updates, they should have:
a) been more careful with their promises
b) optimized the os properly
Either way its their bad.
You’re right but if they didn’t release the update people would complain too since they didn’t get their promised number of updates, did you try to debloat it +/or reset it?
have a friend who have a high end xiaomi(not really sure what model and it somethimes still lags) I get your point, but back then when the poco launched, it wasnt a cheap phone and it had major motherboard flaws and it was really a hit or miss. My parents used xiaomi phones but they didnt last as long as iphones. Im not an iphone meatrider, but in my opinion its better to invest in a brand that you know that it has solid Os, hardware like google phones or iphone. That is just my opinion tho
As i stated in my post, the issues appeared only after the update to android 15/hyper os. The issue isnt about the phone being a budget device but that they forced an updatethat was over its capacity.
Budget devices unusability should not be excused by virtue of their price. If a device is released to the marked but refuses to work properly, then its the manufacturers fault for releasing a bad device.
Again, this phone was working very well before it upgraded to hyper os.
People buy budget phones because they can’t afford to buy anything better. I think we should expect any budget device to at least work well enough to warrant its own exist. All it needs to do is to allow me to text, watch some youtube and read some articles. This one stoped being able to fulfil that role.
Tldr phone not bad when bought, xiaomi did stupid and made the phone bad so its their fault
Edit: Fixed formating
Typical post in this sub:
“Xiaomi is shit! Will never buy again”
What phone do you have?
Proceeds to only buy the low end phones
…
It’s never people that bought Xiaomi series /ultra/pro etc or even Poco F that write this, I don’t understand why people don’t make any research when buying something
You’re comparing different generations and category of phones(the equivalent of s24 is the Xiaomi 14[non T]) + if you’re in an area where your skin litteraly burn it’s normal that the phone heat up a bit
Bro if you buy a low end device it’s just logic that it’s not gonna be super fast for 10years ,if you had a Xiaomi number/pro/ultra series or POCO F series phone(especially the latest) you would never say this
You can just debloat, the phone will be faster + Redmi note phones are the lower tier mid range for the latest pro series and the old non pro(like the Redmi note 11s) ones were low end so it’s normal that it’s not superfast, just take a Xiaomi 15 ultra or even a Poco F6 pro/X7 pro in your hands you’ll see that the difference is just huge
Never had a problem unlocking my phones but I’ve heard it has gotten more involved. Maybe take a look [here](https://xdaforums.com/t/new-method-unlock-bootloader-hyper-os-devices.4654733/) and see if you can find some tips.
I am 90% sure i had them off tbh
HOW. Ive been trying to unlock the bootloader for so long that i just gave up xDDD
to be fair it was my third (and prolly last) redmi
Yeah i second every thing you said. My old note 10 is faster than the note 12. And it has much worse stats. The fact is, Note 12 was NOT ready for android 15 nor were most redmi phones. The upgrade was either maliciously aiming to make people switch to a newer phone or someone in charge lacked any cognitive functions.
I switched to smasnug (a friend working at a electronics shop got me a deal on an a35) but im curious. What version of Xiaomi Community app is the right version? Ive been trying for around half a year on an off to send the unlock request at midnight beijing time. Tried 8 seconds early, tried 10 seconds early, tried even 30 seconds early (coz the phone can lag a lot). At one point i was trying daily for more than 40 days.
Anyway, the smasnug is great, i forgot you can put an app in the background and not have it restart upon going back to. Makes stuff like banking much easier
I sympathize with you. However here is my opinion.
HyperOS sucks. I can stop here and that will be enough. But I will carry on.
What other people might not realize here is that HyperOS sucks and not just on Redmi Note 12 but also on newer phone or even other Mi phone models as well. The one who reply with good experience probably did not use HyperOS or didnt bother to compare it with Mi UI 14.
Those who comment saying Redmi models are bad got it wrong. I have started with Redmi Note 10 pro (2 of them), Redmi Note 12 Pro 4G and currently on Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G.
With that said I am a Samsung guy myself. So all these phones are for family members where I take ownership of the phone after they move on to a newer phone.
The phones I mentioned above are all good with smooth experience as long as they are not upgraded to HyperOS.
Additional notes. The right way to unlock the phone is to install the right version of Xiomi Community app, configure that app to Global region and then click Unlock Bootloader immediately after 00:00 morning Beijing time.
Maybe check if you did this step and try again.
Good luck!
I Wouldn’t recommend it, keep your phone.
Wouldn’t recommend it, keep your phone.
Wouldn’t recommend it, keep your phone.
Nah the OS work like shit on the EU version. You can’t keep open any tab on the background open even if you disable this feature in the option ! This is crazy. If I wanted a brick phone, I would have bought a Nokia 3310
I had to change from a poco x3 pro to a redmi note 12 4g, It’s like going from a ferrari to a bike. I can’t even open my banking app to validate a payment, chrome will close in 5 seconds
Nah, I gave it to a chick I was dating …got tired of seeing her with a BS android
I still use my MI 9T since December 2019.
Why you change your 11T, it’s broken?
These new phones are only good for a couple years anyway. If you buy cheap, you’ll get cheap. And it’s made in China. China makes good things when you spend good money. Cheap out and you get what you pay for
I kinda hate my redmi 13 but i got my iphone stolen and im never investing that much money on a phone again so here we are
The problem I have now is that it is no longer possible to change the account region, causing my Redmi watch 4 Chinese version to not connect to my Xiaomi 14 global version.
Same exact case here my guy. I had the 11T for 3 years and just got the 14T like a week ago. Only issue I ever had with the 11T was overheating when using Android Auto, but that was in the Carolina summer heat ..
I went to sleep with miui i woke up with hyper os. Idk if i allowed for it to auto update or what
I also regret buying Xiaomi. I should have continued with my Samsung
wdym?
it auto updated to hyper?
I think POCO is probably the best thing that has come out of Xiaomi, and that even has plenty of unremovable bloatware that is riddled with ads, and even if you disable the bulk of it, it still takes up your storage. Annoying af. Changing to the Vivo X200 once I feel better about dropping $1.xk
I am planning to get the 14 pro 5g(8/256), but it is not available in my region(*only the 4g version, and I do not have the capacity for 14 pro+, the 5g version available to us*). I am positive it would be an awesome device, I just needs one that ships to my region within a week!
Always dreamed of having a Redmi since the 8, now I can have one!
My Redmi phone has been stuck in Recovery Mode for several days. I took it to a store for repair, but they were unable to resolve the issue.
Xiaomi 14 is my first Xiaomi phone, it came with hyperOS. It’s one of the best phones I’ve bought, cameras are awesome and it has very fast performance, battery life is average for the smaller form factor of the fone. I have no ties with Xiaomi, I just say what I see and experience.
try gcam v8
DOnt get me started on the camera, i straigh up never take photos/videos anymore coz of this crap
They never had this problem
i have the 5g version and the only problem is the laggy camera when recording and the system stutters every once in a while
Budget phones are a risky buy, you have to do some extensive research before buying anything.
Yeah, I’m an owner of a Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G. The smartphone was fine until Hyper OS.
I was waiting for Hyper OS 2 to understand if we receive some improvements, but nothing.
Hope they fix with more releases the stuttery experience.
For now the smartphone was demoted to Entertainment at home. Just moved to another brand.
Now in 2025, there is a minimun threshold to keep userbase.
Never ever buy the Redmi series, it’s shit better stick to Xiaomi’s main lineup or their T series. Currently have 14T, no stuttering and lag issues so far but I’d say their OS can still be optimized and updated.
Just get a long lasting phone that you won’t regret doesn’t matter what the brand is i have poco f1 for over 8 years now and still use it only changed the batteries.
I don’t, I have Xiaomi 13T
From the comments I read on reddit, I came to a hypothesis that I think Xiaomi launched HyperOS too early. Letting users update and try it directly without further thorough testing by developers comprehensively. I know Xiaomi launches many types of mobile devices, they may be overwhelmed to maintain their products properly… Don’t get me wrong, I have been a Xiaomi user for a long time and agree with the idea of always following the latest trends or technologies, for example Huawei with its HarmonyOS. But this HyperOS? I haven’t dared to buy their latest products (Redmi or Xiaomi 14 series), except for one mid-range phone for my own observation, with HyperOS v.1. However, in the future they may be successful with their HyperOS, and I hope so because I like their products in terms of hardware and cost.
For Redmi Note 12 I’d definitely ask double, so 400 zl.
I have a redmi note 10 pro and the phone is very good in gaming and it has a very good camera It is 108mp , it is a good phone in 2025 .
You dont say the specs of your note 12 phone? I wonder if this is an issue with the 8GB phones, I replaced a redmi note 10 with a 13 pro 5g, and have had no issues at all. Due to its budget price, I selected the version with 16GB memory/512GB storage, it updated to hyperos within a few days, and have encountered no issues.
I also have Redmi Note 12 4G bought last December 2023. I also experienced frame drops after updating from MIUI to HyperOS, but it went away after a few days of use.
It becomes worst if u reset factory
The xiaomi phones are faar better than redmi phones. I have a xiaomi 11i 5g.. been using it from 2022.. it has fallen from my hand so many times and still not a scratch(I use the case that came with the phone) the battery is just the best I’ve ever used in any phone tbh.. i have 4 hrs screentime everyday average and the battery lasts 40-48 hrs.. it’s been 3 years and the phone is still working like a new one..
I have a xiaomi 11i 5g 6/128.. been using it from 2022.. have been a xiaomi user since 2018.. my phone even with all the fancy stuff like dolby, haptic, 120hz rr my battery lasts almost 40-50 hrs and in all these years of using it I may have experienced lag less than 5 times that when the phone is overheated but that doesn’t happen much.. i have used a note 12 pro and it was also really smooth the only downside for me was the camera.. maybe it’s your specific phone issue like manufacturing defect or something like that
Well, its not the phone. its **HyperOs** updates that did it your mobile. im in HyperOs 2 on my redmi note 13 4g my battery last only 6h-10h screen on time from 100%. they did dirty on mid and low end section in hyperos.
Well you didn’t put that crucial info in your post that’s why I told you to factory reset.
Factory reset is only for ruling out OS and 3rd-party app issues caused by possible upgrade data corruptions. It does not magically make your phone faster or fix all the issues. It’s only for making sure you have a clean slate while testing for issues.
Factory reset is only for ruling out OS and 3rd-party app issues caused by possible upgrade data corruptions. It does not magically make your phone faster. It’s only for making sure you have a clean slate while testing for issues.
If you’re gonna blame the OS then check if the issue occurs after the factory reset.
Im planning to leave this community forever
I have a 12T and last year alone I just had to factory reset it 3 times and wait for a whole week without a phone every time it needed to be fixed (I don’t know what to do without the warranty and it’s running out the next month and im still waiting for my phone to get fixed for the 4th time)
The phone is good and the performance is great for the price and the biggest thing about it is also the worst thing about it
THE DAMM BATTERY it’s sooo fast like literally from 1% to 100%in just 13 minutes it’s crazy quick
But it gets broken a lot and just shut down or never work again and needs a replacement
The battery will get stuck on 0% and never charge and will shut off after a minute of being unplugged it’s annoying really
Xiaomi budget phone svcks, it’s their flagship that is only good
That’s the last mi A series tho,
Xiaomi 12T Pro also runs noticeably slower after updating to HyperOS 1 and no matter how many factory resets you do – it won’t help.
The thing about Xiaomi is that they cater to the Chinese people
Because it’s a Redmi bro. Especially the Note 12 4G. Where on MIUI its bearable on HyperOS its absolute shit. Get a used flagship or something
It’s a big mistake to update to hyper os. You have the same problem that my friend has.
I’ve had 5 Xiaomi phones. Social pressure made me switch to an iPhone—biggest mistake ever. I 100% prefer Xiaomi.
well you got a redmi
ofc its shit
Miui is a shit show.
Same here, surprisingly great phone, glad it’s one of the few that have Snapdragon instead of Mediatek
I’ll be getting another for my next phone, had a few currently using a redmi 11 and it’s still working well.
Redmi is not a Xiaomi. Redmi is just a low cost phone sell under Xiaomi name, otherwise nobody would buy a Redmi.
The last christmas i bought a Xiaomi for all the member of my familly and… Now we know!
I vé more 150 apps on my phone and a Redmi phone can managed it. You can play a game, take a call (when your phone decide to display the phone interface), you can go on a website and pay, and must have to valid the process with the app bank,… Just a nightmare.
Now, i buy Xiaomi 13T pro, it’s a gamer changer, a real phone, no regret at all. But… The price… It’s not the same. But the phone is very very good at all
You can’t fully hate xiaomi, if that’s what you mean. You are using Xiaomi’s low tier midrange, not the high tear. This means that you are not fully experiencing the whole xiaomi experience, just some of it.
In my case, there are several apps (even native to the system) that don’t work on my POCO X6 PRO, and I know it’s not due to incompatibility
I have redmi note 12 4g as well, I bought it dec 2023 and actually it still okay till now even the battery it last 7 to10 mins every 1 percent for browsing. For gaming I don’t feel any stutter experience unless if it is overheating. The only thing I hate was the camera quality which is way a lot better for RN 13 4G right now well Hyper OS 1 is the best for me except the first released I admit it stutter a lot but later on they fixed and improved a lot. For Hyper OS 2, I saw a lot of negative feedbacks especially 4gb ram users but I’m currently using Os 2 and as using an 8gb ram I would say it still the same performance as what Os 1 have. Anyway this is the first released for OS 2 so hopefully they gonna fix it on the future updates
Xiaomi is definitely hit or miss. Depends on your luck. I bought a xiaomi and it died on me randomly after a year. Same with someone i knew she bought another Xiaomi and it did the same thing. While our friend still has her xiaomi phone and it’s still working for a few years now.
I escaped Xiaomi after I bought mi11 which was recording laggy videos all the time since it was brand new. Got pixel 8a this summer and honestly? I’ll never touch anything Xiaomi related again
Happy with my Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G, Hyperos makes no big difference.
Dont ever buy entry level phone
it’s a nightmare
waste of money
you’ll end buying another one after
How do you install linaegaOS on a xiaomi?
Same experience here. Had a few xiaomi and poco phones. Great devices for the few months or a year, but the os and the lagginess and bugs are the biggest problem. Im going to get downvoted but i’ve switched for an iphone 13Mini after being an android user for more than a decade and its a whole other universe for me.
Go to the service center it still should have warranty if just recently bought right? Not sure about warranty service in your country but in my country most manufacturer have always honour their warranty in past it was standard practice for Xiaomi / Redmi / realme / vivo to always send 1 phone extra for every 3 phone sold to their dealers…. If there’s any dispute the dealership would just switch and give the customer the spare phone.
As i said before, it worked more than fine on miui
Ive been using xiaomi phones since note 4 and ive had quitealot of them. And when the hyper os came out 12T is the last xiaomi i used… I even tryed to get used to it for few months but yeah…. Somehow its worse than miui….
I’ve got Poco F series phones and my experience with them always great! My champ that I daily drive rather than leaving at home – Poco F3, without any battery replacements gets 7 hours of SOT with A15 ROM, it’s amazing, I however used HyperOS 1 a few months back and the experience was really good too, although the battery lasted less, it was really smooth.
Poco F series phones have always been really good phones, my brother got a X7 Pro, for me I don’t fancy it, it’s just performance and OS rather than Performance, OS and decent Cameras like on F series. But If I had to get a device, I’d probably choose a T series, just because of 120w charging, with that nice GaN charger in the box.
European HyperOS works great, and Chinese variant is flawless, OP should’ve bought the Chinese redmi and it would’ve worked forever flawless.
In that case, it’s pointless to downgrade to MIUI, as your device probably has a defect and it’s only now showing with HyperOS.
What app do you use for that?
Also have the same problem and my xiaomi 11t after upgrading it to hyper os now my screen is green is not working on the bottom part of the home screen but when i open some apps like games it works perfectly.
My RN 12 pro 5G is on MIUI 14. Works great and the battery lasts forever. I realize it’s too late, but you can stop the phone from updating its OS:
Settings > Additional settings > Developer options > Automatic system updates – OFF
I have Xiaomi Redmi devices that aren’t phones and they are awesome! Redmi phones aren’t that bad either. You’ll still enjoy a fast experience.
Haven’t you thought of factory resetting the phone, it’s obviously some critical bug and you’re here even going far and beyond trying to unlock bootloader, instead of doing something as simple as resetting. What do you think what people do when their windows PC starts acting up, they reinstall the OS.
I never had such a problem with any Xiaomi device, including poco devices and If I had I would try the first thing that comes to mind.
In redmi only go for pro or pro max variants.
Slightly more battery drainage with HyperOS but otherwise happy with my Redmi Note 11.
Will get the Redmi Note 14 soon.
I love all my Xiaomi devices so long as I debloat with ADB and keep the apps that remain from phoning home.
I currently am forced to use a Verizon MVNO so my main device isn’t Xiaomi but as soon as I can afford to change plans I am going straight back.
Configuring thr OS to run smoothly by debloating and removing permissions can be tedious but then it is over and your device runs like a dream.
Plus the build quality! I am tough on electronics — droppages and spillages galore! Xiaomi devices can really take a beating. I still have my ancient Redmi Note 5 running as a back up device with a TextNow sim.
I only wish we could buy Xiaomi’s electric cars in the USA!
I am not getting hyper os update for redmi note 13 pro plus…
on my 5th. bought the note 13 pro + this time 5g. dont like hyper os but have gotten used to it
A is bloody indestructible. Unless you bash it 5 time to concrete. First 3 time he survived without any scratches…
I see myself as a pioneer and guy who brought Xiaomi in Novi Sad, Serbia. Of course i didn’t done such a thing, but in huge circle of my friends, all people that i know ( i worked as firefighter and head of security in large factory, so i spoke with lot of people) i was the first one to buy over online advert Note 3 for 110 € ( new , smuggled from Hungary). Then i bought Note 4 for my sister in some store in Belgrade, it was 120, and Samsung with worse characteristics was 200+ People mocked me that i have Žaomi ( in Serbo-Croatian “I am sorry” ). It was 2017. i think. So after i changed 3 XM ( none of them bcs problems, i just have that kind of temper where i explode inside myself, and bash phone in the ground ), people started to ask me where to buy, and then Xm already introduced Redmi, so i told them, “Man, on our salary, you will pay all in total with package 30 € p/m, fuck Samsung, for that price you get entry level, fuck Huawei ( still kicking ), Honor, Tesla ( Serbian made) try, if you don’t like it, i sill buy it from you. At that time i had A1 or A2, not sure. Pocco doesn’t existed, One plus was huge thing…
So i was their good commercial, and happy owner of 7 different models, and A3 was so good, after him Note 10, really sexy with light blue back. After that i continued with Note series. Redmi 11 Note pro 5G was mental. I got it in Serbia for less money that regular bcs Serbian telecom is blocking other operators in 5G development, so 5G phone means nothing.
Got Redmi note 13 for present for 500 sober days ( 1 dinar- 10 c with contract renewal ), also great, but, lot of ads.
After long introduction where i praise myself, there is a point- Note 13 pro 5G is first one i am like- mhmmmmm… Battery needs 5500-6000, it’s bad. I work in market, don’t use it except on break and shortly in backstore, and at 14 pm i am at 43 %, 11 was on 85. To much ads in every Xm provided app, to much notifications that I can’t turn off…
I am really sorry that i didn’t took 14T with Tesco mobile.
In conclusion, after 7-8 XM, RM phones ( all destroyed, not broke, 11 i gave to my uncle, it’s like new after 3 years ), this is first time that i will go to explore something new, probably T series.
Last good Redmi without Pro mark, was 9, mine friend still uses it. Now he took i think 13 note, and he is happy.
Im running my 9T Pro for 5 years now. Battery still good, ofcourse a little degradation. But it just wont die. Before this phone I always had samsung, but those will degrade faster than yoghurt in the sun. Had to switch every two years.
When this phone dies, im pretty sure i’d go for another T-pro series.
Me neither! (After turning to pixel-like roms)
Me too brother, I had a OnePlus Nord prior to my 14t pro, cost a fraction of the price and had way less problems. My phone won’t even vibrate when I receive a call (yes I’ve checked my settings, I’m not thick). The advice I’ve received for this specific problem is factory reset it. This is supposed to be a flagship, why do i have to wipe my device to fix a problem??
Have you tried xda forums? If you find the developers that create Roms for your phone maybe they don’t ghost you like that.
I have a Mi Note 10 light which now serves as a media player (running PixelOS) and still works great. Only downside is the battery after all those years.
On official guides: have you tried formatting the phone? Xiaomi is infamous for big updates since early years of miui. Take a manual backup of your files and let it clean install HyperOS. This has helped me when upgrading from miui 11 to miui 12.
I have the exact phone model. I know that I’m buying a low-end 4G phone, and it’d been working wonderfully for my use case until that software update. It”s virtually useless now. It lags even on the simplest tasks — switching apps between sms, social media, etc. It wasn’t like that before.
Try Xiaomi series not Redmi 🥹
Sorry for experience. Tried warranty?
Resell it or reset it once to see the issue persists? You can wait for another update. Hope this help.
I just snatched a note 10 pro for like fifty bucks and it’s fresh totally new like, probably the best decision I’ve made in these past years oh man it’s just so good though I’ve got some feature locked like gmail or YouTube can’t be on floating window or added to the siderbar in miui 13 and there’s sometimes Gmail notifications not appearing for a while and standby battery drain is really bad but still this phone is like one of xiaomi’s gold work!
yep, my redmi 9t ran so well for 2 years until the screen gave off cause i dropped it lol (screen protector chipped off slowly)
I have xiaomi everywhere… Lol
Bulbs, temperature, movement /heat detector, smoke detector, intruder alarm, ceiling light, rice pressure cooker, breaking wall blender, 3 stand fans, portable fans, air purifier, running pad, mite vacuum,… Even bedsheets, anti bacterial towels and sponges 😁
MI 10 ultra
Redmi note 12 plus
MI pad 8.4
Redmi pad
You know why? I have 0 problem with it and they last
I think something is just wrong with your particular device. Have you tried resetting it ?
Me too.
Does the HyperOS forces to be automatically updated? My mom have the same phone and I remember it was on miui14 where I opt out on updating automatically but suddenly checked in on the same day and felt the UI was different and checked the settings where I found it updated to HyperOS, though my mom says she doesn’t really remember if she clicked on something I know I cleared out any notifications that day and any update related. Is there any way now to disable any automatic updates in HyperOS? I want it to be like our other devices where we can choose freely when to update. If anyone perhaps know some settings to look out for please help me 😔 I’m quite new to HyperOS and some infos about it online are quite vague
Same problem happened to me, the camera is just shit
Agree on number series, my 13 pro works flawlessly
10%? Damn
Take your time, you’ll have better options in refurbished or used market due to newer releases.
Never had any problems with mine. Have been using Xiaomi phones since 2018 starting with Redmi note 5 pro. Currently using Xiaomi 14 and Poco F6 as my daily drivers. The former one is running at HyperOS 2.0 while the latter is running at HyperOS 1. No issues so far. Will continue to use Xiaomi in the future as well.
Why was the copy to clipboard function removed?
It was 2 years android and 3 years security, and it did get it’s android 8>9>10
Not the A2 lite, but i have another Redmi Note 10 that promised 2+3 as well but that one really went android 11>12 and that’s it
I still got my Redmi Note tho and it’s going strong like it’s still brand new.
Bought a note 7 pro, this phone is still working and actually works kinda well even in today’s standards. Then bought a note 11 pro+, very good phone (except for the camera). Never looked back.
And even before the note 7 I had a note 6.
Idk man I love redmi.
I don’t where you are from but in France or maybe even Europe if you buy a brand new product and it’s failing under 2 years you have a legal warranty to get it repaired or a new one for free
I still have my Mi A1, using it for hotspot lol. Phone still run okay.
Same here. I think I had 5.
Sorry to hear that.
I’ve started with Poco X3 NFC (lasted me 4 years), Redmi Note 9 Pro, Poco M3, M4, and currently X5 Pro and X6 (not Pro). All are still working, except the X3.
It isn’t a Xiaomi phone, it’s a Redmi phone. They aren’t the same thing.
What are those
From 10T pro to 13T pro 🙂 planning to buy 14T pro 🩷
Bootloader – what is that? Can someone please explain to an tech- ignorant?
Will the same happen to Redmi 13 Pro+ 5G? I just bought it.
Atleast they dont literally become unusable (atleast this early)
did u debloat already? my redmi note 11 is still running fine and just recently upgraded to redmi turbo 3. probably because i downgraded to miui 13 from hyperos because old budget redmis just cant handle the heavy os
Debloat it.
I have the international version and it’s amazing for the price
I love xiaomi phones, no problems.
Yes there was overheating but not much that it was not usable. Also I don’t game much on phone and where I live, the temperature goes over 50 in summer lol.
But yeah it didn’t heat too much with normal usage.
SwiftKey still requires quite a hefty amount of resources. I suggest you install FUTO Keyboard. It’s really light and easily customizable. Plus it’s free and open-source.
I tried it before with my OPPO A57 (Helio G35, 4GB RAM, which lags every time lol) and the stutters never came again. Now I use FUTO Keyboard basically everywhere.
This is not an excuse for Xiaomi pushing an update on their older, cheaper phones which wasn’t properly optimized or tested for them and ruins their performance.
I was having one… Before it get stolen
my only issue w my 14T is that since it updated to hyperOS 2.0.2.0 it randomly disconnects and connects any Bluetooth speaker/headphones when i use apple music… and i think also tiktok
Same here, same device too..back then i wasnt sure what to get with my budget, had make value..then i saw the specs online stores(my guide of price for new release);,120 hrtz AmoLed,what?..a Snapdragon processsor, what?a 6/128 storage, what? miui 14,what?(Miui 12.5 + was so popular back then because of the modern control cetre & customization, had redmi 6A,7,9).. & when i saw redmi note 12 then,it felt im staring at a cheap flagship (compared to my old phones witch was stock android hd+ display )..guess other specs are sacrificed as well for this price range, thats all..luckily,no issues, its smooth most of the, even as a gamer,id still have 7 hrs battery o a grind gaming..not bad all,my technique is i slowed the charge speed.. change swapped my cable to a pd charger & still got quick charge on both chargers..not the TURBO Charge cause it just heats up everything, thuogh normal, batteries worn fast with that…
I used the same phone for a year until I switched to 14T.
I had no issues like this. It was a great phone for me. There’s probably something very wrong with your unit.
Noo brah sorry that is terrible…
Well issues like that wouldnt happen with other manufacturers
Nobody’s helping here! Why you cannot downgrade? I remember Xiaomi was quite good with allowing people to downgrade
I also have a somehow still functional x3 pro but i cant say it doesnt have issues, its one of the most troublesome xiaomi phone
No issues as well and I have bought over 10 devices in the last 5 years. Did you buy the international version or the mainland China version? Did you buy it on Alibaba?
I’m on my 2nd device, nothing to complain about
If your that frustrated.. i’d be too..same device..,luckily l,i didnt have any issue exept for the lack of feature stripped out for cheaper base models
. I’ll Just constantly update it..then when EoL , i wont get those more restrictive updates anymore🥱..f*ck HYPE OS..yeah,didnt spell it wrong..im on HYPE OS 2.5 now btw, note 12 4g Global..they werent this terrible as i remember MiUi days..
From note 9 pro to note 13 pro 5g 512 gb. AMAZING câmera, amazing all features. Zero bugs, zero problems, zero headache, always.
I regret nothing.
iPhone 7 and 7 plus came with factory problems. So that means all iphones are crap now?
Kindly I suggest that you try factory erasing the phone to its original option.
Redmi Note 12 4G NFC (Topaz).
my average ranked teammate ⬆️
My 11 Ultra got fried. Loved it so much, going to get it fixed
I’ve never had a problem with Xiaomi, Redmi, Poco, I guess those who have problems post online & those who don’t have problems do look to post?
What’s your phone model?
What about Poco X series and Poco F series?
A little out of topic.
I rode my bike in the 30 zone. It fell right under the rear wheel. Right above it. Shock. The only damage was the adhesive film on the display. Almost impossible to break. 😄 Gorilla Glas 6.
I’ve been using Xiaomi since my old mi A1 that looks like iphone 7, it was so good that I love the brand just instantly. Then I switched to Redmi 20 Pro … I just love it more, I spend 4 years with that phone, using ROMs from Mi EU and LIneage OS, now I have a Mi 11 lite and I’m very satisfied using Lineage OS 22.1 I think Xiaomi lost its charms when they block completely the chances to open bootloader. Because MIUI it’s not very pleasant now a days.
right now i think im gonna try to get a used samsung note 20 ultra. As someone else said, a few years olf flagship is better than a new budget phone
I can recommend Oppo. I’ve had Oppo for the past 6 years and you can’t go wrong in my opinion. Currently on Find X7 Ultra and it’s perfect.
at least 3 times
im 99% sure i pointed at 8gb model but they brought me 4gb. They were doing a lot of diffrent sales at the time so i didnt question why it was cheaper than the one on display
I’ve had my Mi 9T since launch.
Beast won’t die.
bad corporation choices… sadly made for most of companies nowadays.
At my country we have many tech services related with phones who does that… so… I actually cant help =/
I also have Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G 12/512 GB and it’s awesome
I also had X3 Pro, it was awesome.
I just took delivery today of my Redmi note 14 5g with the Mt7025 ultra chip and I gotta say so far so good, difficult to get at the moment in the uk so had to buy off an ebay seller and yes it was a squeaky bum moment as I opened it expecting the 4g version, the camera takes an amazing shot, between this phone and my last Xiaomi 11 I’ve had the Moto G84 5g and the god awful Tcl 50 nxtpaper, I’m already glad to be back with a Redmi
Did U ever try factory reseting that phone after update?
I have a redmi note 8 pro. Got it for 5.5k 2nd hand perfect condition. It works fine for me honestly. Gives stable 60fps in bgmi and I will buy a Xiaomi or Vivo again. Infact I regret buying a the s23 that I got for my sister. Never will I ever buy samsung or apple again
I have a redmi note 13 plus 5g
Navigation does not work. I can’t add tracks to playlists.
Try doing a hard reset because I have the same device with hyper OS and it works really good better than MIUI but maybe you’re device is the 4 GB of ram version mine is the 6 GB one
Well the note 12 4g has worse performance than the note 10 pro. I just upgraded to the note 13 pro plus because it’s the only one that edged it out in performance. Though I’m paying almost twice the price of the note 10 pro. For just barely better performance.
I don’t buy phones from them anymore, I only buy tablets
I can’t agree! I’m actually writing with my Mi10T pro with 256GB and I also have another Mi 10T. After 5 years I’ve switched to LineageOS 22.1(Android 15) since there aren’t any official updates anymore. Never had any problem, battery last all day with 86% of the capacity with +4,30 H on screen time (both phones). Amazing beast running fast after 5+ years.
Claim guarantee?
Heads up: it’s a very budget model that uses a very old Snapdragon processor
is this a model with just 3gb ram ?
just remove all the bloatware and you will be fine
use this windows software
https://adbappcontrol.com/en/
and use search in reddit which software is safe to remove on xiaomi phones , there are many lists posted.
Same here, no problem at all. Going to trade it for the note 14 soon.
I had a mi A2 Lite and I was bummed they didn’t keep their promice for 3 Android version upgrades. That’s what bothers me with Xiaomi. Some devices are great and some are awful. Not only with phones btw, with everything they make.
No issues , iam.now on my third I think.
Poco x3 pro , redmi 11 , now 13 pro plus and I my next one likely will be again xiaomi.
Just not overpriced good phones.
I am not surprised. I purchased 13t pro as it meant to be an amazing phone and some much cheaper. But
Xiaomi phones are terrible. I noticed extreme LAG in Xiaomi 13t pro if I won’t reboot phone for 2-3 days. I came from Samsung to xiaomi. I always was curious xiaomi as it has a powerful components, super fast charging, IR port, heart rate sensor, dolby vision screen, 144hz and many times xiaomi phones are cheaper. Basically I was angry on Samsung that competition has got so much more advance features and could not understand why Samsung not going to get these nice features after so many years. Therefore I went for xiaomi 13t pro however after 3 months of used I have to say I did mistake. Xiaomi software is so buggy and is literally disaster. So many features which are free on Samsung in xiaomi you need to pay. Autofill Samsung pass service is the best and it’s free. Software is perfect and it works whereas in xiaomi I have to restart phone every 2 days otherwise camera is so laggy it’s ridiculous. Plus I was on holidays and one time recorded videos were without sound other time recorded videos came with the error showing time 00:00 and I can still watch in xiaomi phone only. When I transfer these videos on others devices won’t work. Shame I find out about this after all full day when I recorded so many videos. Phone restart helped. Phone is overheating, when I was on holidays (35°C outdoor) phone was so hot, and slow. None the same issue is happening in my s24. Xiaomi gallery is another poor app. Many photos cannot be read even if they were taken by the same phone xiaomi 13t pro. I got error saying “not recognised format”. 144hz does not work, screen goes max to 120hz, xiaomi is a scam. Problem with Google play as well. I could not install apps from time to time. Only clear cash in Google play apps helps.
I had so much issue to transfer data from iPhone to xiaomi it’s ridiculous. Did it have so much problems with Samsung. Smart switch does the jobs. Before If you ask, I tried smart switch on Xiaomi, it didn’t work.
I watched so many videos about camera and it should be better unfortunately camera is so bad, front camera is disappointing.
I regret I purchased this xiaomi 13t pro. Now I know it’s worth to pay more for reliable smartphone like Samsung
The 12 pro 4g was already bad at launch since it’s a rebranded note 10 pro for more money. Only their T and flagships will work okay with hyperos.
I’ve had a 10t Lite for 4 years. Still fast, still bulletproof.
Best phone I’ve ever owned.
I too have regretted Xiaomi 13, deciding factor choosing this over others (mainly OnePlus, Samsung is out of question) was the screen size and with that I’ve been more than happy.
It’s the hyperOS I loathe. Not enough customisation for my liking and what I’m told, the upcoming update will limit it even more.
Also laggy and buggy apps that keep on freezing and crashing.
Waiting for warranty to end so I can maybe try custom ROM if available. Tho not sure if that’d compromise security too much.
I enjoy my 14t
Yh I agree for £200 it was excellent, lasted me 4 years until it started to quick die
Me and you brother, me and you…
I bought a Note 13 Pro+, and it’s kinda of a bad phone.
Redmi phones aren’t bad; they’re just more affordable (best price-to-quality ratio). So, when you buy a $100–$200 phone, it might be good, but at the end of the day, it’s still a $100–$200 phone. The more you invest, the better phone you’ll get although it’s not always that simple.
Some people bought the 14 Ultra and still had a lot of issues, but in that case, the problem was already there in the phone. Unlike Redmi, where sometimes the issues come from the build quality.
ive had a redmi note 8t and it was VERY good. Never had any issues untill the screen broke and battery started dying
I had 3 xiaomi phones till now, first a xiaomi mi 8 lite, which was good then a redmi note 8t which was super good (id still use it if not for the screen being busted and battery dying in 2h) and finally the note 12. I simply assumed that since i had a note 8t which was more than enough for me, that the note 12 would also suffice
even if it’s a chinese version flashed with a global rom, you should’ve received updates regularly , so it’s an issue from the place you bought from
1. I factory reset it few times already, latest one being last week. I did not upload any photos or data back to the phone in case any viruses came along (tho i did check the files and my laptop did not find any issues). Its still the same laggy mess.
2. I bought the phone january 24 and i dont expect it to run like butter. I want it to play my music and let me text people. Thats all i wanna do
i bought it a year ago, so its not few weeks. Im from poland, and on olx ive seen it go for like 200pln max. Tho that was some time ago so i might have to check if that wasnt just like few offers. I paid 900pln for it, so i obviously exaggerated, but im just tired, idk. I already have another phone in my sight
No, you regret buying a Redmi phone, not Xiaomi. I had a bad experience too with my Redmi Note 9 Pro died in a year. I switched to the Mi 11T, and yeah, it was a great improvement, to be honest.
I have a Redmi 12 Note Pro, works fine for me
Wait, I have the 11T too did you experience any overheating? For me, it’s a nightmare, especially in the summer i can’t use it for more than 20 minutes.
Any idea how I can fix this issue?
I’m not happy with battery on my 14T.
well, hyper os do be like that
Fine, cool even, but why did they force the update if its so bad? I tried to unlock the bootloader for 3 months now. For 2 weeks i tried every day at midnight bejing time. Nothing
No problems with my 10t pro either,, this thing slams in performance and my battery lasts long
planing to move to a used samsung note 10+ or 20. Depends whats available, tho i dont got the money for it rn
I wouldnt if they didnt break the bootloader system and would allow me to go back to miui. I dont care if i bought the “wrong” phone, they made it and sold it so i expect it to work. I dont want it to run genshin impact, i want it to let me text and listen to music at the same time without freezing (which happend few times already)
to be honest, it wasnt even that low budget, i paid lowwer mid tier money for it.
i have most google apps removed
yee thats why ive been trying to go back to miui which worked very swiftly. Like, no lag, no issues, it was good. Usable.
swiftkey was even more laggy for me. Like, i couldnt type AT ALL.
I also have the 4gb ram option which is pretty slow. I wanted a diffrent one, but pointed at the wrong phone in the store and they sold me a 4gb model.
The firgerprint scanner works suprisingly well considering i have burned off my fingerprints as a child.
did that a week ago and 2 times before. Did not help
I don’t regret it, I have a Redmi note 13 pro + 5G 512gb.
No worries about storage, battery duration is reasonable, dual sim is great.
The only problem that i had with it is that in share options on a lot of apps, the “copy to clipboard” function was removed, just installed an app to get it back.
did that a week ago, did not help at all. Didnt even load any data back in
Backup your stuff and reset to fabric setting
Weird, my redmi note 7 carried me all through university and now my mom uses it and it is still working fine (except for the battery which only lasts like 6 hours now xd)
I used my Redmi Note 8 since 2019 and was the bes t phone I ever have (video edition, community manager, etc). I installes custom roms after 4 years of use cause started to act slow and laggy but the custom rom save his phone life. Now I have a Redmi Note 13 Pro and is an amazing phone, idk what you talking about. Maybe someone scam you, maybe is fake or it was broken.
The problem is definitely HyperOS, particularly 2.0. That upgrade drove me to install a custom ROM – crDroid. Now my phone is usable again and performs as I expected.
Yeah so if you’re after Switch emulation, (which is a little hit or miss at the moment) the X7 Pro will of course disappoint. But if you’re not after that, it’s a fantastic phone.
The problem with hyper os is that doesnt work well if your phone is not one of the “high tier” i bought my xiaomi note 13 4g on december, and i already knew this so i didnt let the phone to update and it works perfectly for me. Maybe you only path now is to pay someome else who can root it and reverse the update… Its actually stupid that we have to take these methods to use what we paid for…
I’m sorry about your case bro. But I used 11T for 3 years and I still had 5-6 hours of SOT Easily. Only the standby drain wasn’t good.
Only bugs I faced was the random shifting of display from 120hz to 60hz after exiting chrome. The rest I got everything good.
That’s why I upgraded to 14T… 3 months ago and it is a beast of a upgrade in terms of performance and camera.
That’s why I started buying Pixel phones. They are more reliable and you can buy older ones very cheap
Buy a used flagship over this. It’s always been a sensible choice.
i got over 4 years of usage from my mi10t, i wouldn’t be buying the the succeeding ones though not worth risking if the phone would self delete in the future
So never buy a redmi
I just bought a X7 pro for its incredible price/performance value, even better than the F series. My main concern was emulation, I probably won’t be able to play 3D switch games.. oh well. (I had a Poco f3) For that I might buy an Ayn portal or even better some x86 handheld like the steam deck or Asus ally x in future
It’ s really simple.
Like others stated, if you’re serious about buying Xiaomi, then it has to be either:
– Number/Ultra series – high end flagships
– T/Pro series – mid to upper mid range, really good phones
– Poco F series – upper mid range, also good phones
– Even some Poco X-Pro models are good
Everything else is just 50 shades of budget phones.
Currently on 14 Ultra and it’s the best flagship I ever had. If I ever decide to change it, it will be solely for its size, which again has nothing to do with Xiaomi. Every brend makes gigantic ultra flagships.
I had a Poco f3 that recently died (motherboard problem), now I got a X7 pro, hopefully it will last longer
I have a 13T for a lil over a year now and I gotta say I aint got any real complains about it.
Just that the restart is really slow and the battery not too great
I currently have 3, MI 9T Pro ( bought it at release), X14 and POCO F6, all work perfectly. I never buy mid rangers or entry level phones, maybe you shouldn’t too.
Run BSG Camera in x7pro?
1. You’re upgrading from MIUI to HyperOS. You upgrade BOTH the AndroidOS and the “layer” above it so it’s more than mandatory to factory reset it as there are many features deleted and added between MIUI and hyperOS.
2. You’re buying a entry midrange phone from 1.5 years ago (12 was released back in October’22 and you bought it Jan ’24 and that’s not “last Jan” as that would be Jan’25. Please correct it.) . Do you expect to get the same return as Bitcoin or something?
So either just factory reset it and pray it would work or just sell it and move on.
oh buddy how many people said the same thing for MI10T for the first few months of its release until the phone started to convert to an expensive brick
X3 Pro had the same story, phone was overly praised then the issues started coming out after a year of its release (Lost my x3 pro after 2 years).
No idea about 12T and onwards I dont really trust the series that much anymore
You basically regret buying the wrong xiaomi. 🙂
Yeah I loved my X3 Pro, it was an incredible phone.
I’m loving my X7 Pro for the better camera, battery and general oomph from the higher ram X7 pro model. The battery life is incredible. And whilst people moan about the graphics chip – I have no complaints. Plays emulators amazingly if you’re good with PS2/GC and below around the x2 to x4 resolution depending on the game.
👍👏 +1
I have the whole Xpro series until the new x7pro. I’m fanboy. 🤣
The X3pro works till today.
I never had any problem. X3pro was the best Smartphone for less money in it time.
I personally don’t
Redmi are reliable, MiUI worked very well for years. However, after update to HyperOS, I got some annoying bugs, so I’m selling my Redmi 😀
Op’s issue is stutter and slowdowns which can be very common during large OS upgrades ie MIUI to HyperOS, factory reset will help. Your issue is a totally different thing and is not even part of OP’s concern.
The problem isn’t even the phone, it’s the shitty HyperOS, this Xiaomi OS is shit
Then it’s a device and Gboard compatibility. It’s weird though, because I tried Gboard on several phones and everything positive.
Xiaomi used to be a really good brand, for they made several reliable phones with clean Android One. But then they decided to force their MiUI with Chinese adware to all their phones and it went downhill since then. Now they renamed MiUI to HyperOS, but it’s HyperCrap, as it’s completely the same thing as MiUI, it just got some annoying bugs that will be resolved god knows when. Selling my Redmi Note 11S and waiting for Pixel 8 to be delivered.
snapdragon 685g, what do u expect thats worse than a stylus 2021 motorola lolol. not the phone, u just bought a very low-end range phone.
It’s your fault. I did the same mistake when I had Windows phone. I upgraded it to a major version, which was not well supported for my phone and then regretted it. Never update your phone to a big major version blindly.
Factory reset will not solve the issue about HyperOS. It will not downgrade the OS, just reinstall the same shit. I’ve done factory reset of HyperOS and Bluetooth absolute volume issue didn’t fix.
I never had any issues with my Mi 11 Lite 5G, using since pretty much launch day, somewhere 2-3 years. Its still fast and have a decent battery life also quite durable. Before this I used Mi A1 for the longest time and also had a good experience. I would say from personal experience redmi series is not the best option when you are gonna buy a xiaomi.
Same issue with me too
Try force stopping the apps until you find the culprit. I had the same issue with a Redmi 6 I think, and it was caused by Google Duo app that for some reason kept running in the background.
My 14T has been rock solid and smooth the past 2 months so maybe it’s the older ones with issues.
Zero software support after a year? What are you talking about mate? My dad was using Redmi 8 for 5 years (2019 — 2024) and he got always security updates and newer MiUI than the one he had in the beginning. On the other side, my Mi A3 had clean Android One, and I lost security support from Google in 2023, so Redmi has better support for old phones than Google.
I’m using Gboard for years and no lags, no problems. It must be the compatibility of HyperOS and Gboard.
Sounds more like you regret buying lower end Redmi and allowing the software update.
If your phone updated from MIUI to HyperOS it’s recommended to *factory reset* your phone if you have bad experience with the phone after the update.
T series is also plagued with issues
10T is notorious for deadboot issues and 11T had battery issues
I heard little discussions about 12T as if it didn’t exist so it might be fine
No issues with any of my Redmi phones.
Will buy another one.
Currently on my third.
Yeah, i sold a Redmi Note 12 5G last November for about 40%. Quite sure i undersold it, listed it for only a day and the guy gave me a very convenient meet
And my market has really aggressive new xiaomi phone sale every month which affects used price but still i can get about half for a 2 year model
Sorry to say it but what do you expect from budget oriented phone? It’s always better to buy used flagship even if its few years old, than new budget phone.
All phones are trash like for example Apple Samsung OnePlus Nokia they all suck it cost nothing for theys companies to make them. Idk why people are so addicted to there phones. Many years ago we all used them for calling. Now people want fancy stuff and doom scroll on TikTok all other medias. Remember to read about an update before download. Your money your actions.
Thing with Xiaomi phones is that you must buy best and most expensive phone they offer, if not this will happen. They make so many phones and when they make update package they just don’t care about anything but those premium models. I think that they even slow down budget models on purpose. It’s pretty shi**y attitude towards their customers, but that is Xiaomi.
Other option is never to update it or at least don’t update it one year after buying it.
Listen. If you’re gonna buy a xiaomi why the f would you buy a redmi?
Redmi is a subsidiary of xiaomi made to be cheap and crap.
Buy xiaomi and stick with xiaomi… Don’t go lower into redmi junk. Redmi is utter crap and is made to be ultra ultra cheap mainly for Pakistan and India.
Poco on the hand is also a subsidiary of xiaomi but poco is on a different level. It ain’t cheap nor is it ultra fast but it puts redmi to shame.
In the end xiaomi is good. And I mean xiaomi not redmi crap.
My Mi A2 Lite as well, getting the xiaomi hardware value but with clean Android One
What country are you from? I cannot believe you would get 10% of the price. Usually you should ask for about 70% of the new phone price if you’re selling a few weeks later. I sold Redmi 8 in Slovakia in 2020 and bought Mi A3 and it works perfectly up today. Alternatively, you could report an issue at the shop where you bought it. In EU we have 2 years warranty for all the products. If the problems are annoying, try to claim for a refund/stock exchange/downgrading to MiUI.
It is not the phone.
Your fault really.
That’s Xiaomi’s whole thing, zero software support after a year, if you would’ve read the forums or reddit you would’ve known this.
A tip for the next phone you get: ask the forum for advice whether or not to buy that phone.
Check r/androidroot, they’ll help you use restore an older firmware version, using the official mi tool, that way you’ll still be able to use banking apps easily.
Utterly usual Chinese stuff.
or Mi A series. These phones are immortal, reliable, although without Google updates and support. I installed LineageOS on my Mi A3 and it looks exactly like clean Android on Pixel phones. And it works perfectly.
Meanwhile I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my X3 pro and now my X7 pro.
Enjoy
Never buy Xiaomi unless it is T series, Number series, Ultra and pro series.
i have the same phone and i hate it too, im never getting a xiaomi again
