Is this robot worth the money? Could it replace traditional vacuum cleaning completely ?
EDIT thank you guys, it’s for my mom and I think I’m gonna buy one.
Amazing. I’m glad you shared.
That’s hilarious
Tom would be proud.
It’s definately worth it if you have pets and hardwood floors/tiles/vinyl etc. It’s a bit anemic for carpet.
I don’t own a traditional vacuum, just this, a Dyson handheld for spot cleaning and a mop.
hahaha amazing
DJ Roomba!
I upvoted this solely because of the song you play. backbone by droeloe.
That’s horribly beautiful
man, you want laugh me to the death? This is highlight of my week 😂😂😂😂
Nope. But it will do a 90% ish clean everyday with minimal interaction from yourself. There’s some places they can’t get into, but also they got into places you sometimes can’t.
Even after vacuuming with a traditional vacuum, these will still pick up something.
Definitely worth it, but they’ve actually gone up in price recently.
Time to make it say random words at 4AM.
On tha house!
let it clean your room while listening bob marley on it XD
If you’re not letting this loose playing Ride of the Valkyries you’re doing it wrong.
How do you do this? Install an app on the cleaner, I mean
impressive
TL;dr get root on robot, install raspotify.

Yeah mate time is money
Ones $1500 ones $299
Probably because of the tariffs.

Well, some cleaners like to listen to music while vacuuming, you just humanize this robot. You just need to be cautious, because after they learn to make poached eggs and coffee, the next logical step is taking over the world.
Yeah it’s worth it. Pretty happy with my one, doesn’t replace a vacuum cleaner which you may need to use once a month or so. I mainly have it runnnkng to make sure that little things are not on the floor because my daughter will gobble it up.
They see me rolling, they hatin’
Clean the windows, clean the walls, clean the shit off of them floors
I’d let it play ‘still alive’ from portal all day.
I have one in lieu of a pet
Wait i can root a vacuum, never thought we would come this far xD
$750 now
Definitely!
Corners and carpets are no problem at all, most furniture it just goes underneath..
A few weeks ago I had a party with friends, and one of them seemed to have brought in some sand and it was a big pile on the floor, big mess, didn’t want to vacuum while standing around. But just took out my phone, brought up the xiaomi home app and clicked zoned cleanup. (I did put it in silent mode). A few moments, and lots of laughs from the people standing around, later it was perfectly clean again.
But there are off course some limitations. It can’t open doors, so when it’s working you need to keep the doors to the rooms open. It can’t work big ledges, like the one we have at our frontdoor, or at our bathroom.
It will run over smaller ledges, sometimes with a bit of trouble and noise, but it won’t break anything.
Also in order for it to do its work properly I always have to ”prepare the house”. Which basically means I walk around the house, pick up any socks or loose cables that might mess it up.
Tryin’ to catch me ridin’ dirty
Nice Vacuumfy
I kinda want to do this to mine, now, I’m just not sure why.
omg, I wanna buy his vacuum
And it’s outperformed by the s5
But username checks out
This is a shitty robot, please cross post to /r/shittyrobots (it’s also really fucking funny)
Shout out to droeloe!
Welcome to 2019.
Vacuums can be rooted and toothbrushes have firmware.
I’m not entirely sure this is a good thing…
Some ask why? I say, why not?
China has been manipulating its currency to cancel out the effects of the tariffs.
Not completely, but if you pass it 1/2 times every 3 days or so it can remove most of the dust and the hair that falls on the floor.
It can’t go on top on furniture tho so you still need something that can clean smaller spots and maybe collect the pieces of shattered glasses (i.e.)
This comment should get more attention for sure.
Happy birthday Paulie!
Does it fetch?
There are these long magnetic strips that you could place under the rug. I don’t have them myself, but they seem like a rol of ductape, but then thicker and a bit magnetic, so the vacuum recognizes it as a border.
Those could fix your problem
Eventually, yes

> prepare the house’
This is what’s preventing me from considering one. If i’m walking around the house anyway I may as well do it with a VC in my hand!
Either you are the fastest vacuum cleaner in the world, and you should consider a careerswitch 😉.. Or you’re underestimating vacuuming. And overestimating the time I spent, putting away a cable and picking up a sock from the bedroom is literally 60 seconds of work for the whole house. Vacuuming it properly would take me 60 minutes.
I was afraid you might overestimate the work to be done if I described it like that.
But a big part of preparing the house is just learning to pick up your stuff right away. Don’t drop dirty clothes next to your bed, put it in the wash bin.
The first time, about 10 years back, I started with a robot duster for 30 euros. A year later I bought a cheap Chinese knockoff vacuum at Aldi for about 230 euros. I used that for a few years and was blown away by its effectiveness for that little money.
That was also the proof my significant other needed to invest a few more euros into the xiaomi one (spent a total of 300 euros I think).
It’s worth it, every cent twice over. But indeed I need to spent a few seconds each time to check it can’t get stuck. I can live with that 😉
> learning to pick up your stuff right away
Amen to that. We try and live by the ‘one touch’ rule but it’s difficult with 2 young kids.
I’d love a robotic hoover but our house is a 3 level town house and so I assume we’d need 3!
You could just start with 1 floor. Before my current apartment I had a maisonette (apartment with 2 floors). It meant I just had to vacuum 1 floor less every week.
For the kids it could also help to teach them to be comfortable with a life full of automation around them.. Which will probably be our near future.
