I have my redmi note 9 on gesture mode, when I type it goes into another app or on menu any tips on how I can make it stop and also keep it on gesture mode?

Use swiftkey keyboard, much better.
You’re possibly typing too fast and inaccurately the phone is registering two taps close together as being a swipe up. It’s happened a few times to me on my note 9 pro when I’ve been particularly sloppy. Not trying to blame you, but it might help to increase the height of your Gboard keys.
Poco f1 here, and i have similar problem, even without gesture mode. It’s like i get ghost touches on the menu bar at the bottom for some reason
Gboard does take me out of typing a few times a day. Same phone.
I use gboard too and I dont have this issue, and I couldn’t replicate it either. I use three-button navbar instead of miui gesture navigation, and I use “edge gestures” app for gesture navigation.
EDIT: I have mi 9t pro
Oh gosh, that could be so annoying. 😥
EDIT : As one of the comments mentioned this to be a gboard bug, have you considered trying the beta version of gboard ?
Seems like somehow it detects 2 finger swipe gestures..when u type fast enough, it confuses it as a gesture and moves/switches app, wait for a update/disable gestures atm
Looks like Xiaomi optimized these gestures just for Gboard and not for Swiftkey.
is the xiaomi staff active in this subreddit ? any chance of them hearing my and other people’s issue
Google keyboard. Sorry. Either way, it doesn’t seem like you’re using it, but I use gboard and I have the same issue sometimes but I can see that it’s what I’ve described above.
thing is I was using swift key, I changed to gboard just to see if there’s any difference and until now nothing happened, but I think it’s a gesture issue not a keyboard issue.
I’m not sure if we’re using the same keyboard, but I use the Gboard and haven’t had that experience yet. Had my phone for about 3 weeks now.
looks like the keyboard app is crashing and restarting. would try to install another keyboard or reinstall the one you are using
I have the same bug I’m using gboard on mi 8 lite
Same phone, same exact problem. Just wanna say I feel you man and I hope we get a solution
for the past month it has been a pain in the ass ,right when I need I need it not to happen and type fast it goes into an app and feels like it takes 20 years lol 🙁
I’m sorry guys, but this is standard since 3 years in MIUI. I’m not expecting a fix anytime soon.
I was using swiftkey I just changed to gboard and see if there’s any difference, it didn’t happen yet
Same with the note 8 pro
I am not sure, I personally use OnePlus. I admire Xiaomi phones as they come with great hardware.
Try installing custom roms if you’re into that. They would definitely get rid of this problem. Or just continue using swift key.
Until Xiaomi addresses these concerns, work around is the only resort.
This happens to me most of the time, but only on facebook messenger. It happens only when I’m typing too fast. Maybe the screen confused your fast typing as a gesture and closes the app.
I have the same problem on my mi 9t, and is a gboard bug
Looks like the OP is using SwiftKey and not gboard
Could be a keyboard issue
thats what im using in the vid
I have the same issue on redmi note 9 pro, but not very often
my p30 pro also do this, this is a gboard bug, only happens with gestures enabled.
I literally type too fast. suffering from success lol
indeed
No, not a gboard issue. Happens with SwiftKey as well. It’s a gesture bug.
what is gboard?
This happened to me on my old Iphone 7. Tried to change the screen tempered glass I had on it, it fixed it for awhile but afterwards it came back. Tho problem is that the glass of the phone has warped and touches the touch screen underneath in some points which cause the random touch points.
Changing the screen fixed it ultimately. Hope my experience will give you some insight on your issue.
Cheers!
