Glad you liked your purchase
Me too!!… although i have the pro..but still.. it’s a great phone!
Yeah this was my first phone purchase. I’m 16 I got a job worked for 2 weeks and earned 280$. Finally able to buy something. I’m talking about a huge upgrade. The phone my parents gave me (the one I had before) was a Moto e4.
I got mine a couple of months ago when I upgraded from an iPhone 5s. The Mi9t is literaly the best phone I’ve had!
Nice! My upgrade from my previous phone is like night and day.
And I f***ing love my POCOPHONE F1
I’m 16 too, what was your job?
I’m a counselor at after school care for elementary school kids. It’s where the kids go if their parents can’t pick them up. Like if they are working
Really happy with mine also. Some minor annoyances:
Fingerprint sensor sometimes wonky in the sun
When I open chrome and want to open a new tab I have to stretch my thumb a lot
Yeah, that’s about it for now. 8 months with this baby already
I have pro, but literally best phone so far. Had many Samsung phones, even the MS Lumia 950 and Samsung S9, but they all had so many different issues that i didnt like at all. The Mi 9t pro is not the perfect phone, but so far the best one and i hope i can take most Of it.
Notchlees display is my thing ngl
I am really tempted on this phone but the draw of the Mi 10 might be too much.
I just love the notchlees display. I don’t need a SD 865 lol. It’s overkill in my books.
This phone is by far the best value I have ever gotten from a cell phone purchase. It tells me almost all other smart phones are overpriced.
Yo after 10 years with an iPhone I bought a Redmi Note 8 pro today because my iPhone 7 Plus was stolen from me and I needed a cheap phone quickly. I’m blown away by the quality of the device for such a low price.
Sooooooooooo true
Can attest to Samsung Browser. 👍
Honestly though. I try to convince my classmates that Android is the better option and they are just fanboying at this point
You’ll love it until it creates a problem and needs a service…
Have you tried Kiwi browser?
After Chrome recently ruined Duet (the mode where all your controls moved to the bottom) and ditched reader mode, I decided I didn’t want to deal with their bs anymore. Tried many others, none were quite right (though Edge and Samsung came close), until someone recommended Kiwi. It’s based on Chrome, looks almost exactly like it, just as fast, but comes with an ad blocker, proper bottom controls, night mode for the websites and other nifty features. Definitely recommend.
DuckDuckGo is the one and only
Yeah because other manufacturers can’t wait for you to RMA your phone and they’ll send you a brand new replacement immediately.
I’m sorry, but I’m no longer pleased with it, as there’s too many annoyances with it. My main problem would be when I’m talking to my friends through speaker. The mic repeats anything, and I mean ANYTHING that comes out of the speaker, while barely getting my voice. It’s a very good spec sheet for the price, but it won’t be a Xiaomi phone I’ll switch it with when the time comes.
No, but biggest issues always appear with xiaomi’s service. I’m not defending anyone here and Mi9T is definitely the best mid-upper mid range phone this year. I was also going to buy it but this shit appears to be a big problem between a shit load of people so I’ll probably go for a Reno 2Z or an A71
That’s just you. Defect maybe? I don’t have that problem.
I love the customization of it! I’m using a apple theme right now cus it’s clean af
Note 8 pro does not have an IP rating, and is powered by a Mediatek SoC.
I love this phone but after android 10 a only have 5hSOT and this is a fuc*ing problem
For me, the fingerprint sensor is always wonky everywhere 🙁 It is by far inferior to a back sensor, I don’t know why they even went with it.
Other than that, it’s the perfect phone and I love it, but that sensor is frustrating me every single time.
Oh. I updated mine yesterday to a10 and saw no change infact it’s better for me. I’m using MUI 11.0.4
What model do u have.
IP52 implies your device is ‘splash resistant’. Not the same as an IP67/68.
Also, while am happy you’re enjoying using your device (and more power to you), Mediatek SoCs do not age well, the camera ISPs aren’t as good, and see little custom firmware development.
And that, in itself, is enough to keep me away.
I should also mention that after MIUI 11 battery life is absolutely horrible. There’s a lot of stuff that I need a lot that aren’t good on this phone, so I’m not pleased with it.
Then we need a mi9T SE
#9TGANG
What model ? I don’t have any problems
Me too. came from a line of Motorola’s, and this feels like love. I catch myself just looking at the gorgeous screen, doing nothing… that’s love man.
#Yes
Lmao same. My entire family is on Moto rn. Felt like a rebel bought a Xiaomi.
They will get better
Excuse me don’t compare mediaTEK from 2014 with the latest one in early 2020. They have improved alot, even than snapdragon!
Had it since release and still love it. Great that the development scene has picked up as well, Pixel Experience (with Vantom kernel) is phenomenal
I became a Xiaomi evangelist. Got Xiaomi powerbank, bluetooth speaker. 9t for me and Note 7 to business partner, another friend got a 9t on my recommendation and others got the Note 8. I try to convince anyone to get Xiaomi’s. Got and Iphone? prepare yourself for a 1 hour lecture ;D
They are such good value for the money.
Ever heard of chrome flags?
Can you list please?
Use Firefox 😉
With uBlock Origin of course.
Damn right, my brother. Had it for 5 months now, your post reminded me again how much I love this phone.
Use custom rom. It’s most likely software. I used xiaomi.eu ROM it’s superfast, free of junk/ads, long battery life and no problem whatsoever 🙂
The mi9t is the most complete smartphone out there in my opinion. There is nothing that I miss but no gimmicks that I don’t want.
It’s really the industrial design that does it for me. In my mind Apple was the master of great design but the Redmi is incredibly sleek for a quarter of the price of an iPhone 11.
Also one little thing that I absolutely adore (I’m discovering Android) is the fact that you can place the icons wherever you want on the screen. Not only at the top of the screen where your thumb can’t go like on the iPhone 🤯
Same here 😁, best phone ever
Thanks for the tip. Losing Duet really sucks
If you don’t already know about that you can also completely change the look of your home screen by installing other launchers and themes ( icons, widgets Ect)
Mi 10 looks amazing really
I got mine brand new for €200. WHAT. A. STEAL.
This phone is so great with incredible value. I was afraid the cameras were gonna be bad but one GCam download later and… Ta-da, they’re great! Even better than my iPhone X, which was my previous phone.
Lmao that’s practically the perfect phone
It doesn’t seem to work in recent versions. The only option is chrome duo and that doesn’t seem to move the taskbar…
Mi9t global edition
More like blocked because you know you’re full of shit lmao
Imagine thinking an IP52 rating is something to be proud about
Same tho
Mine works fine after I found out that if you put a bit more pressure on your thumb it works 100x better.
I have a K20pro which is basically a mi9t Pro. Recently got a great deal on a Samsung note 9 and was attracted by the stylus and dex functionality. I only lasted 3 days before I put it up for sale.
Of course the stylus, screen and general build was fantastic with the note but areas where I really liked the redmi were
– just an easier phone to hold and use, size is just perfect
– though miui has a “heavier” skin, I felt this was smoother, note had lot of lag and hiccup
– my truly wireless earphones were constantly breaking with the note, worked flawlessly on the redmi
– Camera is probably better in the note but I can get gcam in my redmi which makes a big difference
Considering all these, I moved my sim back and gave out the note up for sale
WOW! You should write a book!
It does work, you have to play around with some flags like #overlay-new-layout and #enable-duet-tabstrip-integration
Jeez, you’re right! I love you.
I wish I could say the same. Coming from the Mi max 3, the mi 9t to me lacks badly in battery and sound performance. Also the screen scratched, something that never happened to me before. Not by any means a bad phone, but I was expecting more from it
hahaha i love my baby mi9t too 😀 I have it already 5 months and it has not given me any problem, when updating to Android 10 the problem of the brightness controller disappeared, so I think it was worth updating it… 😬
Glad I could help. 🙂
Same. I’ve been a Samsung user before Xaiomi for a long time. Their browser was great back in 2015 when it was one of the only ones to include plugins for adblocking.
Never felt the need to install anything else on my Samsung phones. I’m now using Firefox (for all the sync functions) but a person could do a whole lot worse than Samsung’s browser.
IP ratings are useless garbage as NOBODY warranties for liquid damage. So they’re selling you something (rated ingress protection) that they don’t trust themselves to be reliable.
I love it too, but after having a Pocophone and now having Mi9t pro, (and constantly delaying to update to mi11 because problems), I’d say the main problem with Xiaomi is that their level of attention for the phones they make drops to 0 after at most 6 months. They’re already two new generations in and couldn’t care less for Mi9T Pro. They treat it like a disposable and that’s just mean. They are cheap though.
Call me stupid but I expect it to work as good as new at least 2 years in. If not, fuck that.
Everything else about this phone – I fully enjoy.
Register your thumb as multiple fingers, changing angle of approach constantly when registering, it seems to speed up my recognition.
Only complaint is that it has had a battery glitch where it would make the processor stay awake even when the phone was off for hours making the battery drain like water, but it hasn’t happened in a while now, other than that, the best phone I’ve ever had!
Yeah also why did this get so many updoots literally just expressed my feeling on this phone after 2 days of use.
this phone is gonna be my next ‘upgrade’ from poco f1, even though it’s technically downgrade, but im tired of notch and touch lag, i dont even play games so i dont need flagship soc
Me too then I installed Poco Launcher 2.0 and now I love this phone.
Brave is pretty nice too
Cheers
19 bought this after 1 month internship, was the best value for money phone out there. Notchless design is my thing i would rather sacrifice a front camera for it but pop-up camera is a beauty.
Use it in full screen mode you will get used to it in a day or two and it will make it even better.
Yes indeed
What’s that
I have to use it in Battery saver mode since last 2 weeks , what happened after that update?
It depends from country to country i guess.
Assuming you are on the latest chrome build:
Type chrome://flags in URL. Search for duet. Click on Chrome Duet and select Enable-Home-Search-TabSwitcher-Variation.
Hmmm, if you have the same problem I had then disable Google assistant, clean Google play cache and data and reboot your phone and don’t touch it for a while before unblocking it, something along those lines
Same. My iPhone 6 died last early December and I had to get a new phone asap due to business needs. The greatest change here is using the under display fingerprint scanner. I have sweaty hands most of the time and imagine having to use Touch ID which is 60% of the time fails. Now with a single touch even with wet fingers I don’t have to repeat pressing to inlovk my mi 9t pro.
Also it has the flagship SD855 chip inside so gaming is a breeze with little to no hiccups on playing resource extensive games.
It also supports Chrome Web Extensions!!
Even if they don’t warranty for liquid damage, is it not rather telling that other phones pass IP67/68 testing while this is IP52? Even if you don’t care about dust the 2 rating is literally useless.
Same, except I stumbled on the dark and fell. Broke a screen corner. Goddamn all body screens 😭😭😭
Go to xiaomi.eu search & download latest stable ROM for your device https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/miui-11-0-stable-release.52628/
For switching ROM you need your bootloader unlocked and custom recovery (like TWRP) you can google those. Keyword: ‘unlock bootloader mi9t’, ‘twrp mi9t’, etc
Mine made me understand why iphones and Galaxy S phones cost double or triple: the software actually undergoes qc before shipping.
Finally a worthy upgrade. I don’t understand people that changes phone each year even if they’re fucking flagships.
Have my 5 yo HTC One m8 in hand and I’m also looking towards mi9T. A71 might just be better because samsung’s reliable tho
There are a few options in flags for Duet, but none of them move the menu to the bottom anymore, nor can you have both the tab switcher and new tab buttons on the bottom at the same time and none of these flags seem to help. Duet does still work, just the idea of it has been ruined. And reader mode has always been in flags as far as I’m aware, they killed it before they ever released it.
I have also bought the 9t pro. I’m very happy with the phone but one. Thing is annoying me so hard. It’s these ever so slightly (like not even noticeable) corve of the edges ot the display. I didn’t even notice the edges where rounded until I tried to install a screen protector. The oils that come with them to fill the gaps around the display are hell to apply and then don’t even support the glass which leads to constant breaking of the tempered glass.
I think I never had a Crack free protector for more than a few hours because as soon as I put it into my pocket a few times, something in there will be presst onto the edge by my leg and it will break the glass protector. Now, at the moment, I only have a single small crack and I hope it stays that way for a bit.
Sorry for the rant, needed to get that off my chest. Maybe you can understand that feel
I had mine screen protector put on IN store where i bought the phone. Its a little bit smaller in every corner, (around 1mm) but overall fits really good and also not really big fingerprint magnet aswell.
So overall i understand your frustratsion.
Thing is for me, I hate it to have these hard edges around my phone. I love the full screen and don’t wanna ruin it with edges all around my phone ^^
Same goes for the Mi 9 lite
It could just be because I haven’t figured out how to optimize it for usability yet, but so far I prefer my old Mi A2 Lite to my Mi 9t.
This is mainly due to the swipe down notification bar. I find it extremely clunky compared to the A2’s. Swiping it up and down is very clunky. It doesn’t just scroll up and down smoothly. Expanding the bottom notification feels awkward because you have to swipe down right at the very bottom of the screen instead of being able to drag the notification upwards before expanding it.
The brightness slider and the time display take up a completely unnecessary amount of space.
If a notification appears at the top of the screen, you can’t just swipe it downwards to view it in the notification bar to see if you want to open it now or later. You either click it, which opens it. Or you wait with it taking up space on your screen for a few seconds until it disappears and then you can open it in your notification bar. Or you swipe it left, it disappears and now the only way of checking the contents of the message is to open it in the app.
Another thing, say you have a messenger notification in the drop down notification bar, if you open messenger and read that message, the notification won’t automatically disappear. You still have to manually remove the notification even after reading the message.
The hardware of the phone is obviously substantially better than the Mi A2 Lite, but the notification system and navigating around the phone just feels relatively clunky and lots of little things that detract from the usability and efficiency of the phone.
If anyone has any remedies to these issues, PLEASE let me know, because I really want to love this phone.
No front speakers or wireless charging. No card slot
🙁
Glad to hear about. Mi 9T/9T Pro is literally everyone’s favorite phone, but to me, no microSD expansion is a deal breaker unless if I am ready to ditch expandable storage on a phone.
I love my mi 9t pro too what I hate about it is software it has bugs on stable it has ugly animations doesn’t have live wallpapers and aod is not working how it should (notifications don’t show up) and there is more but It would take too long
This, and some miui specific stuff is what’s keeping me away from the mi9t.
I don’t hate miui, but the wonky notifications is an absolute deal-breaker for me. No matter what guide I follow or changes I make, it works for like a week or so, then it simply decides that it won’t bring my notifications in time, or at all. And selectively too: some apps get frequent notifications, others don’t at all (like snapchat)
Now add in the usual miui update shenanigans which is like entering the lottery. What’s it gonna be? Is it gonna benefit the phone? Is it gonna brick it? Just destroy battery life? Who knows?
All I want is a 200 usd mi a3 with 1080p screen and nfc. That’s it.
1. Open chrome://flags
2. Set “Chrome Duet” to enabled.
3. Set “Tab Groups” to disabled.
4. Clear app cache.
5. Enjoy.
Yeah, you could turn off MIUI optimisation off. This thing clears apps from memory, hence the delayed updates. I don’t get the point of this crap tho because phone already had 6GB RAM enough to accommodate many apps.
9T Pro here. It works, see my answer to parent comment.
See my answer to parent comment, works perfectly for me on recent chrome version on 9T Pro
I’m not getting what that’s supposed to do. Tab groups changes nothing about how Duet works. Seems to be disabled by default too.
Dont use Default enable. Use ‘enabled home-search-tabswitcher variation’
Yeah like I said, that still leaves you with new tab and menu buttons on the top. But it is probably the best option if you *really* need Chrome for some reason.
It works with said settings for me without resetting itself after some time. I thought without the tab setting it would reset itself but maybe I just cleared the cache after that. Either way, it works great for me and all the important buttons are at the bottom.
I think it’s important to clear the cache after enabling chrome duet
I heard that samsung internet is pretty good browser app..try it
Please someone should share a link that I can use in downloading gcam for my Mi9t
I’m using custom rom but i still have bad battery life, i can t get more than 4h sot…
I got mine a week ago. Best phone I’ve ever got so far, my last phone was an HTC Bolt which nobody should ever buy.
There’s also Firefox Preview, that will soon be merged as the regular Firefox for Android that has the address bar at the bottom. It’s really fast too.
You can find it in the Play Store. If you opt for the Firefox Preview Nightly version, you can even install uBlock Origin. Full add-on support is slated for release probably this year.
Never used it since I always had a bad experience with Samsung products. Maybe I will give it a try.
I’ve been a die hard Android guy since freshman year of high school and have been trying to convince my friends and family that Android is absolutely the superior operating system. I’ve converted 4 family members plus my wife. It’s a hard, but very rewarding job. Lol
I just wish it had the 10 second option in AOD.
I did, but the only thing that worked was pressing harder. At least it works better now!
I already installed 6 heavy games and still have 30gb left
I use headphones 🙂 and I don’t take alot of video. 64gb is sooo much
I had a Moto e4 !!! It had 2gb of ram and 13gb storage!!!
There are live wallpapers? Not sure what you mean. I can help you get them.
🤣
These are video wallpapers what I meant is LIVE wallpapers reactive ones like ios or oneui has
Oh I know what u mean.
Just had mine arrive and it’s like stepping into the future, my previous phone is 4 years old
I tried both after ditching Chrome. Preview was pretty nice, but it just didn’t feel ready yet. Obviously it’s a “Preview” for a reason, but like I had text that would jump back a letter constantly as you were typing and it would sign me out of accounts in private tabs the moment I opened some link in a new tab. Regular Firefox just felt somewhat slow and clunky, maybe something with the memory management. Could definitely use the Preview overhaul in its UI too.
I mean sure Duet *does* work, but you cannot have ALL the buttons on the bottom – you’re stuck with three there and a menu button that’s on top all the time.
I suggest to use Niagara launcher. Really beautifies the phone.
BTW I was using Samsung browser beta (good one), then moved to kiwi browser, but finally ended with yuzu browser (not for everyone, too much setting potential)
I paid off my 8+ recently and always been a apple fan but this time I was like for $1000 what would I be getting any different then any other time I’ve got a iPhone .
Ended up going with the redmi note 8 and airdots .
$200 .. total !! For a 11 pro and airpods that’s $1200 .
The airdots for $30 are prettyyyy decent . Note 8 is stunning and it only cost $160 and I lost no features that I didn’t have on my iPhone aside from nfc but for the price point can’t complain .
P.s. my battery lasts 15 hours ( of me constantly being on it ) no more carrying a charger !
Preview will replace the normal Firefox when it’s deemed ready. I have a feeling it will be before the summer. You better try it again then. I’m kind of an early adopter myself so I don’t mind some bugs (I have reported many myself), but I totally understand that some people want a rock solid browser.
i’m still using my 2014 S5. I installed Opera back in the day but wiped it out a couple days later.
The old android sometimes a bit problematic, that’s why i’m here trying to figure out which Xiaomi… :-s
good to know, i wont update mine then
Software can be fixed. That’s the beauty
Good. Before I had a Pocophone and it had back fingerprint reader, and all I can say that in-screen reader is a gimmick, and doesn’t work as well, also you kinda have to look to point it’s position, too. Very bad decision from Xiaomi.
I always felt the same until this phone. Now that I only keep a handful of films and games (GameCube/PSP) on my phone, I find I actually watch/play them. Before I’d always open my lists and see a million things, be spoiled for choice and end up not being able to decide on anything. If I’m going on a long trip away from my computer I put stuff on a USB drive and use OTG to copy stuff across, but that’s pretty rare.
Been wrestling with the fingerprint reader since release day (always have a screen protector). At least half the time I’d fail 5 times and input my password. Registered my thumb 4 times and now it never fails. Thank you!
I never really thought about it but just assumed you couldn’t register the same digit more than once.
Same here, the Pocophone’s reader was instant and very easy to find. This reader is worse in every way.
Yeah, at first it seems kinda stupid, but apparently it works!
I have 2 complaints with the phone:
– fingerprint sensor is inferior to a capacitive sensor.
– You can’t use a Smartwatch of other manufacturers other than Xiaomi to use the Smart Lock feature of Android. I want to buy a Huawei GT2 but I’m stuck with my Xiaomi mi band 4 because I need this feature.
Is this the Mi 9T or 9T pro??
Normal mi9t
I like that I don’t have to lift my phone off the desk/table/counter to unlock when it’s on the screen. A bit of a trade-off I guess, but with no bezels it’s the only way to get it on the front.
While I agree, and have a Mi 9T Pro – I don’t think most other phone makers can make the same margin as this phone and survive.
I guess, but the back is even more convenient for me, as it’s already unlocked by the time I’ve taken it out of my pocket.
I got the Mi 9T Pro and I love it too 😁 great battery, fast, nice camera, beautiful screen, in general a good upgrade from my Galaxy S7. I have some slight glitching in the gallery-app when zooming, but otherwise, can’t say I’ve experienced any notificationbugs or anything else people are complaining about. Running on the global rom that came with the phone, updated to 11.0.3.
I’m currently on 11.0.4 on Android 10
A personal thing I guess, mine is rarely ever in my pocket because the Always-On-Display takes care of 90% of the reasons I would be opening it in the first place.
Lol
As far as I know it’s the only browser with a true dark theme for amoled displays
Do you use the original Xiaomi charger? If not that’s the root of all battery issue (fraud/cheap adaptors)
Yes, original charger of course…
>but comes with an ad blocker
:O :O :O
Same. I used Nokia phone, the worst by far, and Xperia, which was nice as well as Alcatatel which I liked as well. Then I bought Xiaomi 9T for maybe 50% more money but it blows all the other out of the water.
