Okay, now that I got your attention, this is a SERIOUS issue. You may not even realise it, but if you’re not using MIUI, you pretty much have a Screen Burn In / Image Retention problem on your Xiaomi’s display. It’s temporary though, and goes away after a while.
*Turns out that the Tianma LCD display panel found in most Xiaomi devices have to have a specific colour calibration on custom ROM’s!*
These are the devices I’ve seen people complaining about while digging online:
RN 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, Mi 5, A2… Literally any LCD Xiaomi could be affected.
Another thing to note is that even if you have an LCD device, not all devices may have the Tianma panel. For example, even though my RN 8 is facing it, yours may not. The only way to find out for sure is to, you guessed it, find out for yourself 😛 Instructions below!
**The issue:**
I’m personally using a Redmi Note 8. This never happened over the 5 months I’ve used MIUI. It’s been a month since I flashed Pixel Experience Q, and I’ve noticed when opening Reddit, in its dark grey splash screen, I could see my notification bar and some app’s hamburger menu, albeit faintly. It started bothering me, and I started researching. How can I get burn in on a new device!? And heck, it’s an LCD.
Turns out I’m not the only one. A quick Google search on “Redmi Note 8 Screen Burn In” gives you tons on people complaining, not only about the RN 8, but many other devices too! Many people thought it’s a hardware issue, and replaced their display and still faced it lol!
**Find out if you’re affected yourself:**
If you’re using a custom ROM on your Xiaomi LCD device, and want to see if you’re affected, open this dark grey picture linked below in full screen in your gallery (it’s actually the Reddit app’s splash background zoomed haha). You may notice the notification bar burnt in. For a better example, exit your gallery with that picture open, set brightness to 100% and screen timeout to 2 mins, light mode, and just open settings and leave it alone. After almost 2 mins, quickly go back to your gallery with the picture open. You’ll see settings lightly imprinted into your screen! Leave your device alone for a while, and it’ll disappear.
Here’s the dark grey picture:
Here’s how the image retention looks (sorry for the crappy quality!):
**Solution:**
You need to set the Red, Green & Blue values to 90% in your ROM’s colour calibration. Take a look at these:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-4/how-to/fix-display-burn-issue-redmi-note-4-t3703996
Here’s how colour calibration should look, I stole this image from somewhere 😛
MIUI already has the right calibration by default, and so it’s safe.
Now here comes a problem for some of us – if you’re using some ROM’s like Pixel Experience, you may not have this option. Try using apps Franko Kernel Manager or any kernel auditor app and change the display RGB values there. You might need a custom kernel for this. Try using this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smartpack.colorcontrol
**And ROM dev’s, please set this as the default colour calibration value if you detect a Tianma display!**
I hope this helped, I put hours of my quarantine into this 😛
On that note, I hope y’all are staying safe from this pandemic! 🙂
**Edit- Looks like some people are having this very issue after updating to MIUI 11! Here’s how to fix it in MIUI without rooting:**
Go to Settings > Display > Colors. Set it to “Cool” & “Automatic Contrast”. This is according to the 3rd XDA thread I linked above, so see if it helps you!
Confirmed on Mi A2 running Pixel Experience.
My brother’s Mi A2 running stock Android One don’t have the problem.
Someone pin this post
Oh, after the OTA (google andorid one) A2 Lite update to andorid 10 some users reported screen issues. That update was retracted. Same issue using differt screens.
[https://tweakers.net/nieuws/164428/gebruikers-klagen-over-bootloops-bij-android-10-upgrade-xiaomi-mi-a2-lite.html](https://tweakers.net/nieuws/164428/gebruikers-klagen-over-bootloops-bij-android-10-upgrade-xiaomi-mi-a2-lite.html)
This happened to me on rn7 stock rom when I updated to MIUI 11.
This has been an issue since Redmi Note 5, worst than that the issue also happened on MIUI iirc. Well, cheap device got cheap parts.
Weird. Using my A2 for almost 2 years with custom ROM from day 1 and I see no screen-burn occuring.
Maybe it depends on the screen panel of the phone?
> MIUI already has the right calibration by default
What are you basing this on? Have you or anyone else tried switching back to MIUI and saw the problem go away?
Because having experienced an identical issue on a Nokia with an LG panel, it has nothing to do with software, but just how old the phone is. Whatever is keeping the LCD in line starts breaking down after months of use and you start getting image retention. Limiting the top RGB values does help and I’ve not found anything better (if non rooted you can use a light screen filter, though it looks worse), but you’re still basically reducing your screen contrast and chances are it’ll get worse where you start seeing it at 90% too.
Oh my God it’s the same for the Mi A2. I am using a Pixel Experience 10 Plus
Edit: I set everything to 90% and it doesn’t seem to work :/
I’d like to congratulate you on getting so many people to go look at your blank grey picture.
AMOLED screens lights up single pixel per single pixel with an organic material that permits the screen to do this, the problem that is discussed here is image retention that afflicts predominantly LCD if not only lcd these 2 problems are similar but different because image retention keep the image for a few minutes and changing the image frequently on the screen the problem disappear, burn-in is a permanent damage caused by an image or an element on the screen that were placed in the screen for a very long time like weeks or months 24h/24h 7d/7d.
You can avoid burn in changing often you background, changing theme, using brightness under 50% or using the automatic brightness.
The most common causes of burn-in in AMOLED/OLED displays are the navigation bar(navigation button like home button, back button and multitasking button) the status bar which contains wi-fi status, battery life, signal that are always in the same place, but for this there’s a solution called pixel shifting, that moves pixel to avoid burn-in, pixel shifting is also used for the always-on mode, and other things.
Hope to be useful.
Sorry for bad grammar but i’m Italian
Yes and using custom ROMs with non calibrated colours for quite some time actually causes you to face image retention even when you go back to MIUI.
Yeah this might be the reason. Sometimes this feels like a lottery. The same issue stands for Mi A2’s internal storage, some of them has from Samsung and other from Micron..and those with Micron has an EMMC bug, which causes sometimes the device to freeze for a few seconds when something gets written in storage (eg. downloading an app).
OMG thank you! I had this problem on Pixel Experience and now it seems to be finally solved.
I’ve had this issue even in stock android when I was using Mi A1, and yeah it was Tianma panel.
I have this on my redmi 5 plus with lineage OS. I changed the colours to 90%. I’ll update in a couple days or so if the burn in foes away at all.
I had this problem too. It doesnt matter if it’s miui or a custom from my experience.
Redmi note 6 pro with global rom and with xiaomi.eu stable rom.
Redmi note 7 with global rom or xiaomi.eu beta or pixel experience.
Both of them having this issue. If I use reading mode for a while it disappears.
My brother has same issue too. He is using Redmi Note 6 Pro but using stock rom. I think this is not happening because of custom roms. Because I saw a couple phones has this problem but they were on official rom.
There is no necessity of changing the Rom. Just install this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.ne.hardyinfinity.bluelightfilter.free
And set it up to 7% or to 10% as Grey color (3rd color from the left).
The temporary burn will not be noticeable anymore.
I know it because I solve it by setting it up like this in my previous redmi note 5 pro with Tianma display.
I’ve used Pixel Experience and Havoc OS before on my A2 and never noticed this issue. Now I’m running MIUI custom ROM.
My friends Note 8 runs stock miui and he has the screen retention issue. This is BS. My grandma’s doesn’t have the issue and I flashed a custom ROM on it. So yeah
I used to have this problem on the Redmi Note 4x running MIUI
Is it okay if it happens on my MIUI 11 Note 5 Pro without any custom rom previously installed?
I always notice it after watching YouTube for some time. (I’d started noticing it about a year ago but thought it was just LCD glitch)
You’re right! And like u/raulx222, it really is a lottery haha.
In fact, Xiaomi is a bit unethical in some cases. For example, they claim that the RN 8 has the Samsung GM2 48 MP camera sensor. But if I go to MIUI’s own “Device Info” accessed by spamming Build Number, it shows that it’s a GM1. And this is it only me, literally *everyone* else in an XDA thread about this sees the same thing 🙁
Oh, I had the same burning in my old Huawei P10 without any custom ROM or anything modified and it bothered me as hell
What u/ThaSig said is correct!
AMOLED’s do suffer from *burn in*, and it’s by nature of the display. You can use the dark grey image to see if you have any 🙂
Afaik, this image retention problem only happens to LCD’s.
Welp, looks like Xiaomi forgot to add the finishing touches to their own phones 😛
Welp, looks like Xiaomi forgot to add the finishing touches to their own phones 😛
Edit- You’re not the only one. Other people on MIUI 11 too have this!

Look at this comment! I updated my post, too.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/comments/fs9azu/huge_issue_custom_roms_spoiling_the_display_panel/fm09ib1/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
Some roms maybe have live display so you can use that too
Lmao! I posted this on XDA, too. Maybe that’s where those views came from 😛
Since my warranty expires next month I was thinking about fixing it, but this post made me tinker with the color settings: normal color mode instead of automatic seems to have fixed the problem, and I don’t really see much of a difference in the colors, maybe it’s a bit warmer but my eyes got used to it almost immediately.
Does your colour calibration work? Some ROM’s have this broken. If it’s working, wait a while and see if it helps. If not, use an LCD burn in remover app from the Play Store and see if it helps 🙂
Thanks! I included your app in the post 🙂
Welp, looks like Xiaomi forgot to add the finishing touches to their own phones 😛 Edit- You’re not the only one. Other people on MIUI 11 too have this!
Happy it helped :j
Which phone do you have?
Hope it helps! 🙂
You’re not the only one. Other people on MIUI 11 too have this! Are you running MIUI 11?
GCam takes way more detailed pictures compared to the stock app for me. The Stock app adds a tad of softening, and beauty filters even when those are turned off. If you like the way MIUI’s camera takes photos, you can use ANX Camera. It’s basically a glorified MIUI camera port for custom ROM’s! 🙂
https://camera.aeonax.com
You don’t need to change your ROM! If it doesn’t have it, you can use other apps like Franko Kernel Manager 🙂
Even if you have an LCD device, not all devices may have the Tianma panel. For example, even though my RN 8 is facing it, yours may not 🙂
Welp, looks like Xiaomi forgot to add the finishing touches to their own phones 😛 Edit- You’re not the only one. Other people on MIUI 11 too have this!
Yep. I had a little bubble on the top left corner when I bought my phone. I ignored it and it gone now. I have performance issues sice MIUI 11 too. And there are three real bubbles on my screen but they are very hard to see.
Was it an OLED display? Try burn in remover apps on the Play Store 🙂
I’m using Redmi Note 8 btw.
MIUI 11 seems to have his issue, too. The hardware’s not *bad*, you can rectify it with software!
Yup. I’m currently using the official global rom. RN7.
Take a look at those XDA threads and the Reddit post I linked. People (including me!) didn’t have this before they installed MIUI. The panel Xiaomi uses in some devices needs specific calibration. What you’re talking about is burn in that may be due to the age, but like I mentioned, my device is pretty new. If your Nokia has an OLED , burn in may happnen. LCD’s don’t usually get retention problems even with age unless there’s a defect. My 10 year old LCD phones are completely fine 🙂
I had Redmi note 4 with tianma display. Always on stock ron. But after 6 months of using I’ve started to see burn in on grey- dark background. So, it’s not custom ROM problem. I think it’s bad quality display.
Go to about phone > keep tapping build number or kernel version. It’s one of the options there, try everything! Most of them open a hidden section when tapping.
Oh yeah, it did disappear after a while! Thank you, I probably would’ve never noticed the burn marks.
Were you using MIUI 11?
Happy to help 😉
I thought it was just me, glad to know that it’s a common issue that can be fixed
No lol, weird thing is it wasn’t. I’m not sure of what it was tho, I think might be IPS (?)
Then how are a good number of people here experiencing this with no custom ROMs installed? Or even on different phones? No, my Nokia has an LCD – it *is* image retention and for me and basically everyone else it started some time after they’ve owned the phone (7 months to be exact in my case) and it got noticeably worse with time. It’s common on many LCD displays, though on some it’s more severe than others. LG had a big problem with this on the G4, among other devices. Even my 2012 iPad has some image retention, though it takes a lot longer to show up and is way less noticeable.
It looks like you’re just noticing this after installing another ROM and attributing it to that, when it’s ultimately a hardware issue, *even if* Xiaomi does something in their stock software to mitigate it, which I very much doubt.
This is the kind of thing the internet was made for.
Some random person may be wondering what’s wrong with his display, believing they are going crazy because none of their friends have the issue. They search official channels and find nothing about it. They start to lose hope, but then they search some specific site and find out someone in another part of the world has figured it out.
This doesn’t affect me, but good research done here.
Just one thing, if it goes away, it’s not “burn in”. Burn in is permanent.
Edit: now I remember there was a post here some time ago with one guy from India complaining about burn in in tianma panels. I am thinking he was having this issue and is related to the panel used. I have a huaxing panel, and I have not done OP’s test but image retention has never been a problem I have noticed in my phone so no point.
I have a Redmi Note 5 on Pixel Experience 🙂
I used Pixel Experience for some months until some months ago, now I use Xiaomi.eu, and this issue happens to my device too. I can sightly see my notification bar in the gray picture. Is it MIUI’s fault or Pixel Experience’s?
Does MIUI have a setting to calibrate colors?
waiting sophisticated puzzled touch drunk command yam fragile expansion absurd
*This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
How do I know if my LCD is a Tianma? Is there like a special code to access like one that looks like *#37373#*?
I had screen burn in on MIUI 9,10 & 11 (RN6 Pro). I am on lineage os 17 now and have burn in happen less frequently so hopefully with the 90% RGB it will disappear
My Redmi Note 5 has burn in by default, I use the MIUI .eu version. I solved this also using Kernel and changing the RGB configs
RN4 doesnt have amoled to begin with, so it will never have screen burn in problems
Nice try Xiaomi but I am not falling for it, I am not gonna watch ads and receive questionable content on your memeui.
Joking aside though. Why are you making it sound like this thing is never known by people and it just now coming to light? Are you new to the custom ROM scene? Custom ROM users are literally the ones to encounter this, normal memeui user doesn’t know anything and probably would never use a custom. So with that and the way you imply that custom ROMs ruins your screen, you are giving custom ROMs a bad rep.
Now you really sound like mi shill.
Manu, is that you? 😀
Same. I’m pretty sure it has always been like this, but I do grant that with Pixel Experience it has been more noticeable!
I’m using Mi5 with PE ROM(Android 10) and everything seems to be OK =)
thanks for this post
Ok, but as far as I know you need to have root to use that type of app. Or at least you should install custom kernel to control those things. I was using 100% stock phone, so I think that its easier to install the app what I wrote about…
Just another way redmi is opting to stop its users from using custom roms. They’ve been making it difficult to change roms.
I have a POCO X2 aka Redmi K30, which has a 120hz panel. Does tianma make this too? I was thinking of lineage OS
I’ve had the same issue in my RN7 using stock Global MIUI. The sad part is that though the screen recovered, it’s only to a point and if I use it for a while, the burn in starts to become more and more noticeable
Do you know by chance if 4k EIS in ANX camera works as well as stock 1080p EIS?
Have a RN7 and love the 4k detail in gcam but hate its wobbly EIS, stock 1080p looks like a gimbal.
I don’t have this problem on my Mi Mix 2s with LineageOs 17.1
I’m only using MIUI since I buy Redmi Note 5 two years ago and I face this burn problem, specially if auto or satured color configuration is enabled.
This is normal for LCD screens (lcd persistence). Reducing color saturation is not fixing anything, just masking the issue by producing crap colors. There is no damage being done.
Mi iPad 2 does this since day 1. My LG 4K monitor also does this.
I find it insane that this FUD is being spread (and listened to)
What would you recommend to not get lcd persistence?
Not buying a device with a low tier screen, but tbh I’ve seen all my LCD screens do it. Some *massively* more than others. Humidity and temperature also affect it in some ways in my experience.
The alternative is to buy an AMOLED screen, which will not persist. Until it does. Forever.
My Redmi Note 7 (tianma) is running MIUI and has this issue. Is there any way to calibrate without resorting to root or custom ROMs? I have some bad experiences with rooting so i’d rather not activate it again.
Although I’ve switched to poco f1 but it was a case on my redmi note 4 with pixel experience rom.
There’s a special number (lots of # \*) that you can dial to enter a diagnostic program. I tells you the display make. Anyone know what it is?
I used to have redmi note 4x with tianma display with image retention problem. But I was on lineage os so there is a setting called colour calibration and I simply setted the numbers to 96% for all colours. 90 is the confirmed safe number but you can test the numbers yourselves by going higher and see which works for you
Is it pixel experience plus? If it is you can simply go to Settings>Display>LiveDisplay>Colour Calibration
My Redmi Note 4 with BOE display also has burn in from using custom ROM
I have this issue on my Mi 5 but with LG display, and my experience MIUI doesn’t have any default preference for the screen to reduce this problem.
Guys: we should use the term burn in for AMOLED phones, and image retention for LCD phones to avoid confusion.
The Redmi Note 4 was advertised as having a Sony sensor, so obviously they can’t use another brand and pretend like everything is the same. And even if they didn’t advertise the Sony sensor, the quality was noticeably worse on the Samsung and downright awful on the Omnivision because of a very green cast in the pics. If you want customers to think that Xiaomi is a budget crapshoot brand, thats the way a phone should be built.
How come when I open the grey picture and I make a screenshot, the burn in lines are visible even on the screenshot? Also when I download the picture the lines are not there anymore. I had burn in problems, but I gotta ask is this some kind of April fool’s joke?
[Same thing happened to me, solved for me.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/comments/fs9azu/huge_issue_custom_roms_spoiling_the_display_panel/fm0n3sn?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x)
Right. I can’t fault the solution, because as far as I’m aware, there’s nothing better you can really do (besides replacing the display and hoping it doesn’t come back), while shaving the RGB levels a bit isn’t going to change the colors too drastically. But that Xiaomi does something special with their calibration just so the screens work properly is completely baseless. Even if they would, that just means they’re starting off with bad displays and they know it.
Best correlation I can imagine is MIUI’s display color modes limiting the saturation of most affected color channels and reducing retention as a side effect.
I’ve added a fix at the end of the post for MIUI! See if it helps, that’s what some people said they did 🙂
Welp, looks like Xiaomi forgot to add the finishing touches to their own phones! You’re not the only one, some on MIUI 11 have this too! See the post (edited) for a MIUI fix at the end 🙂
Thanks 🙂
And yes, you’re right haha. It’s not “burn in” per say, but a lot of people referred to it as so online when I was researching so that’s why I called it Burn In/Image Retention 😛
You’re not the only one, some on MIUI 11 have this too! See the post (edited) for a MIUI fix at the end 🙂

The 4K EIS seems to work alright for me! I personally stick to GCam at 1080p, with the Bitrate manually bumped up. It’s WAY clearer than Xiaomi’s default horrible, low bitrate 4K and much lower in size too 😉
You’re not the only one, some on MIUI 11 have this too! See the post (edited) for a MIUI fix at the end 🙂
What do you change it to?
You’re lucky you don’t have that crappy panel 😉
🙂
Not really sure about that, sorry 🙁
It might have one (Tianma is one of Xiaomi’s LCD vendors) since its LCD, but I don’t know if they made high refresh rate panels.
You can check for yourself though! Here’s how to:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/comments/fs9azu/huge_issue_custom_roms_spoiling_the_display_panel/fm18ai6/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
🙂
Lucky you, you don’t have this trashy panel 😛
You’re not the only one, some on MIUI 11 have this too! See the post (edited) for a MIUI fix at the end 🙂
Go to About Phone in Settings, then go to All Specs and then tap the Kernel Version 5 times until a menu appears. From there go to Software Version and then scroll untill you find a section called TP version. It should show you the manufacturer of the display next to “[Vendor]”
Did the solution work for you though?
Haha, I can assure you it’s not an April fools prank. Don’t give me ideas though map (If it we’re even possible!). Open your downloaded picture in full screen after doing the test I mentioned. Also, view the image on another device if you’re having trouble believing me 😉
Welp, your argument of “ageing” could be true if it is a low tier LCD. And btw, i wonder how old I am if my 6 mo phone is old 😛 And I’m not here to talk about the issue LG faced with one of their phones, I’m talking about *Xiaomi’s* crappy LCD’s, common to a ton of Xiaomi phones.
And if you think I “noticed” it with a custom ROM, take a look at those threads please. And yes, turns out some on MIUI 11 have this too! Welp, looks like Xiaomi forget their magical sauce on some devices. I added a fix for MIUI at the end 🙂
Look at my flair, I’d be the last person to do that haha 😛
Even if you have an LCD device, not all devices may have the Tianma panel. For example, even though my RN 8 is facing it, yours may not 🙂
If it’s BS, there won’t be 100’s of other people who this helped on XDA and here on Reddit itself 😛
Ok thanks.😳💯
But setting colors to cool is… too cool. I mean, colors are most realistic in balanced. I don’t want to lose quality for the fix. Isn’t there a way to calibrate colors and see the 90-90-90 of AOSP-based roms?
> if it is a low tier LCD
I mean, is it not?
And besides, LG has been having problems with this on *several* of their own flagships, not one. And they’re one of the biggest LCD manufacturers around, if not THE biggest. Aside from the Nokia 8, which had tons of people reporting the same screen issue, they also supplied displays to – yes – Xiaomi. Here’s an example of someone starting to experience the issue *three months* into owning a Mi 6 with an LGD panel: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-6/help/image-retention-mi-6-lgd-screen-t3841342
For all I know they could still be a display supplier to Xiaomi and half the people complaining about image retention could actually have an LG display in their phones, not Tianma. So they’re not irrelevant.
The only reason I can think of regarding why people start noticing it after installing custom ROMs *is* calibration and your MIUI “fix” supports that, but not in the way you think it does. The Nokia 8 appeared to have it the worst when displaying any color that required the red channel to run at 100% – which is pure red, pure white, yellow etc. It’s why the ghosting often showed up as a red tint – the red subpixels would get stuck more so than blue or green ones. Setting the screen to “cool” in MIUI is a bit like you reducing RGB levels, only it reduces mostly the Red channel and perhaps the Green slightly, while leaving Blue at 100. If the issue is also mostly within the red subpixels, someone running their phone on the cool mode may not notice it while on MIUI. But install a custom ROM with default color calibration that’s asking all the channels to run at 100% and you start seeing image retention. Vice versa if other channels are more at fault. That wouldn’t mean Xiaomi has some special sauce or that it’s a calibration issue, it would mean it’s a shitty display that has its problems masked under different calibration settings. Frankly even if Xiaomi did something intentionally to address this, it would just mean they started off with faulty display panels and they know it. You *should not have to* do special software calibration just to avoid image retention bad enough for it to be noticeable all the time you use the device.
Also, I never called your phone old? It’s just *6 months old*. I don’t know where you’re from but we say “x days/years/months old” even if we’re talking about a baby.
Didn’t work for me :/
I meant the custom ROM part. Not the display part. Xiaomi has always gone for the cheap stuff for the display
“Custom ROM Geek”. Nobody uses ‘geek’ nowadays bro, it’s cringe, the title is as important as ‘ video game journalist’ haha
This is not a MIUI x or whatever issue, is the display, and the solution you give enhance this problem. Warm colors are better to “fix” this (less “burns”, not fix completely). Xiaomi display are really shit, I face the “burn” stuff on my Redmi Note 5, Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 8
glad i got screen replacement under warranty, now im using boe intead of tianma and never faced those issue again.
Any solution yet to this problem on miui 11? I hope they fix it on 12.
On MIUI, changing your display colour options in settings can help!
Sorry, I have mo idea if MIUI 12 helps win this…
didn’t work for me. I adjusted the color scheme to cool and auto contrast but still have the retention. I’m using the ghost screen fix, so far is the best solution
Ghost screen fix?
It’s an app
https://m.apkshub.com/app/net.lgdestek.ghostscreenfix
I know this is old but this happened to me on my MI 5s on official MIUI.
I had to get a custom rom just so I can change display color temperature. There was no settings in MIUI that fixed this for me, I had to use an app on google play to change my color temperature until I installed a custom rom.
Whoa! There have been a lot more reports of this happening on MIUI too, across devices. Xiaomi really needs to get its act together! People shouldn’t need to reduce the vibrancy and brightness of their displays, let alone flash a ROM (though there are other great reasons to do so 😉 just to prevent something that shouldn’t be happening in the first place.
Yeah, I think it happened a couple days after I updated to MIUI 8 or maybe it was MIUI 9, I’m not sure. And it was pretty bad since then. I had to use this twilight app and my screen had to be really red. And after a lot of updates my phone was barely usable, it started lagging so much in simple apps. 3D games were a no. My home(middle) button wouldn’t always register. And the fingerprint sensor wasn’t working like 60% of the time. And also some updates broke my battery indicator and it was stuck on like a certain percentage and I had to download some app to recalibrate the battery. And recently newest Themes app was constantly crashing and I couldn’t even change a wallpaper.
I put Lineage OS just yesterday and everything is fixed. Even my fingerprint sensor works like 99% of the time. And finally I can watch a video without it refreshing the app when I pause it to answer a message. Yeah MIUI looked better, it had all better stock apps but there was so many issues.
Wow! That was great! Xiaomi’s quality control is TERRIBLE to say the least 🙁
yo bro I’m on poco f1 + PE. is this normal??? im kinda worried
so is yours fixed? or is it still there??
Wowie. It’s been 2 years haha.
im glad this still helped someone 🙂
Thanks for this thread, I had a halo on mine. Thought it was a hardware defect at first. Although I used the Ghost Screen Fix app for 15 minutes to get rid of the retention on the Tianma display.
edit: nvm, seems to have returned lol
haha, i’m glad this 3 year old post helped you 🙂
Hey! I was having a similar issue with my A2 where any ROM Android 12 or above had permanent horizontal flickering lines on the screen. I’m currently using Pixel Experience Plus (13) with the colors calibrated to 90% and it’s been working fine since a few months. But now I want to switch to another ROM where to change the RGB values, I must pick a number between 0-255 for each. Any idea what I should set it to? Please help.
hey haha, it’s interesting that you found this 2 year old post :3
set it to 90% of 255; that’s 230!
it’s the same thing as your previous setting – the higher that integer, the brighter that subpixel is lit up.
enjoy 🙂 and how’s your A2 holding up today with A13? how’s the performance? :O
Okay! Will try.
As for the performance, it’s more than enough for day-to-day usage. I also play some games (mostly call of duty) and it runs just fine at low to medium graphics. This used to be my mother’s old phone and now she gave it to me for school 🙂
Tysm!
oo cool! enjoy :]
