disable other input methods and or languages of given keyboards.
if you have only one active keyboard with only one language, the notification disappears
Is this somewhere in settings?
Nevermind I got it, thanks
Delete SwiftKey… It’s garbage anyways
I used it on my old phone, I gave gboard a good try but I just couldn’t get used to it
SwiftKey (without swipe) is still the best keyboard for me. I even used it while I was using an iPhone 5.
Completely agree
What do you mean by without swipe?
It used to be good. I think its s case of being bought out then turning to crap.
The notification is very useful for changing keyboards.
> only one active keyboard with only one language
That would be fine if only one language existed…
yeah, but if you use multiple languages regularly I think you wouldn’t mind either the notification
Disabling swipe, the hit boxes for the letters are very good, they get larger/smaller depending on the predicted letter you will be pushing next.
What don’t you like about it?
Last thing I need is more permanent notifications. Even more so if I don’t need them.
Just need to disable any other keyboard input.
Here’s my upvote, don’t understand why people downvote different opinions lately on Reddit instead of having a reasonable discussion about it…
Swiftkey has also security/privacy issues, so a big no no for me as well!
Gboard has actually gotten pretty good over the years, although it could use a bit more customization of course
Use Xiaomi ADB tools for delete it. I have 4 Google apps now, others are stays in hell.
Only turn on gboard. Turn off Xiaomi kika keyboard.
I’ll have to look at Gboard again I guess, but then I’d give up having my clip board synced between my phone / laptop / desktop
to me it’s OK, since I can quickly change keyboards. If I want to manage my home server, for instance from a terminal emulator, I can quickly change to Hacker’s Keyboard.
so yeah, it all depends. I’m glad there’s a keyboard changer notification, but I can imagine someone doesn’t like it.
and also, it’s there only if the keyboard is active, so I wouldn’t really say it’s permanent at all
I think it’s because of design. If the keyboard doesnt report that it has multiple languages that can be changed, the notification won’t appear either. From Gboard, you can change the language from the keyboard itself. but some keyboard doesn’t have this feature or can be disabled.
the keyboard notification is present from the first commercial version of Android, so it also could be some legacy feature too to have this notification. Back on Android 1.8, it was a pain in the ass to change without the notification and also the keyboards themselves were pretty primitive.
The data privacy issue is exactly the reason why I’m avoiding it.
It’s enough to give one provider all data I have 😀 GBoard is the was to go imho.
