Is it possible to bring back the torch icon instead of the wallpaper carousel one?

Yes! WC wasn’t showing in Apps Management or Google Play, only Mi Store where you can’t uninstall it. Finally found it here and got rid of the damn thing because it was glitching out on my Mi Max 3. Cheers man, legend.

very annoying, each time you want to change a wallpaper, you need to:
* load it in the gallery
* from there, using context menu, “set as wallpaper”
* a dialog appears, you tell it to not gather information but accept the other thing
* confirm you want the image as default/lockscreen/both wallpaper
* restart the phone
* go to settings -> wallpaper
* somewhere around there, revoke permissions
* wait for a bs countdown to enable the button
* tap the button
next phone won’t be a xiaomi, for sure, they lost me and my family as customers with this terrible thing
careful with “clear all data”: sometimes it seems to clear the settings that tell the phone to disable the bloody thing, so do it *before* you deny permissions
I had to go to About Phone – Storage – Apps & Data, and find it there – it wasn’t showing up in the “regular” Apps category, and Google Play reported the app to be stuck on “uninstalling” even after rebooting the phone.

My fucking god, I’m never buying a Xiaomi device again. From the ads in the file browser, the watermark in the camera you need to disable, the hidden settings you need third party apps to access, to the fucking wallpaper carousel, and more…
The price/performance I paid for this Mi phone was great, sure, but goddamn.

This worked for me, I had tried `pm uninstall`, `pm disable`, neither worked.
The closest I got was `cmd package suspend`, which blocks the activity from opening but keeps the “swipe right” thingy and icon, which now just goes to a gray screen.
But `pm disable-user` did the trick, now the icon is completely gone, and even the gesture is ignored! Thanks.

I have a Pocophone F1 with Miui 12.0.3 (in my region, Australia, this is the latest update.. cannot get 12.5.3). None of the options work. It cannot be uninstalled through app manager or storage, google play or the hidden miui options app. All fail. I also cannot install adb. What mystifies me is how it got here – I have not done any system updates and have auto update turned off. Now the damn app pops up every day. At least it does not seem to be actually changing anything (yet.) 🙁

Got this message from Play Store: *”This app is not available to any of your devices”*… but instead of givin’ up, I though… “Why I don’t try the default way?”
Do you know that MIUI 12.5 or Android 11 brought the option to uninstall system apps that aren’t really necessary for the system to work?
So go to **Settings -> Apps -> Manage Apps -> Uninstall** then I type **”Carousel”** at search bar, select the app and click at Uninstall. Done.
Now my lockscreen is usefull again, with the torch and remote control buttons at left and camera at right. \^\^
Late reply but had same problem as you and this worked for me:
Went to settings, apps, manage apps
Searched for wallpaper carousel (had to search through all installed apps, including system apps)
Tapped on wallpaper carousel and had an option to uninstall from there. Also disabled autostart.

I am still riled up & pissed off 45 minutes later, because of it.
It broke all my settings and customization I did on my phone.
As soon as I finally deleted it out of frustration, my phone is back to normal again.
This happened to me on my Poco-X3 Pro,
JUST NOW I had the same problem you did. My phone was working just fine since I got it.
Until JUST NOW, when I got that same damn thing in the bottom corner, and it kept changing the wallpaper on me.
After several hours googling and breaking my head, I got so pissed off, I uninstalled it…Good riddance!! holy crap bro… That app has a life of its own. I shut down EVERYTHING, and the damn thing still showed up and destroyed everything I did.
I wouldn’t have mind keeping it on the phone. But when the damn app has a life of its own and does NOT respect my options, then it has to go. If you are a hardcore phone customizer and like your phone a certain way, DO NOT install Carousel app, and if its installed, delete it.
Because OMG, I lost half my life-energy just dealing with that app. I am so happy its out of my phone.

Got this annoying update to wallpaper carousel today and thought ok, after doing it, I lost the Mi Remote functionality from lockscreen which I use a lot.

I couldn’t uninstall it, seems like Xiaomi is trying to “force” the users behaviours someway… who knows. Going through the Play Store didn’t work because it just hanged indefinitely in the “uninstalling” process. So i tried by ADB tools and coudn’t uninstall it either because a “Failure \[-1000\]” po(o)pped.
I simply disabled it by ADB and now i can use again my phone with the torch (and, most of all, i’m no more annoyed by the “slide to the right to look at our ads” and can use the images i really like for my lock screen and background wallpaper).
I stopped using my Huawei P10 because the “you paid me but i decide what you can do and how” attitude it had, now i’m thinking twice before buying another Xiaomi: if I want an iPhone, I’d buy an iPhone.

I have the same phone (Redmi Note 8 Pro) yet the website says this app isn’t supported for my phone and won’t let me uninstall it (despite the fact the app is quite evidently installed on my phone following the last MIUI update).
Does anyone know a way to bypass that and allow me to actually uninstall that annoyance? The app won’t show in my region (Germany) so I can’t search for it in the Play Store app.
Nevermind, I finally found it. Still said the app is not supported on my phone when I was searching with the directlink via my phone browser but a prompt came up to look at the article on the Play Store and there I could finally uninstall it.
Oh, that sucks. Also from the UK. It said this app isn’t available in my country, but allowed me to uninstall it.

What I did was go into settings/apps find wallpaper carousel, then just turn off auto start, remove all permissions for it. I also went into Wallpaper within the apps section and removed permissions on that. Then I went to the image I wanted for my lock screen and set it as the lock screen wallpaper.
This thing is so annoying, even when i denied all permission, disabled all notifications and stopped it auto running i STILL get notifications

Pretty sure that was a recent system update. Afaik you can’t uninstall these updates on the global version without the use of ADB.
