Installed the MIUI Android Q beta of Xiaomi.eu (9.8.8) on my Mi9 earlier and Jesus Christ – it keeps all my apps open.
I’ve never had this on any of my 4 Xiaomi phones.
Like, I can open Snapchat and then maybe 10 other apps and it’ll keep it open.

i completely agreeeeee, cant wait for Q to arrive on the Rn7 cus i love the way miui looks and functions but ram management sucks big time
Are there any other major differences you notice? How about the gestures, are they still the same as normal or are the new Q gestures forced? Heard conflicting reports about OEM controls
> it’s forbidden for the system to kill apps when you swipe them from recents and such… I guess there is some more stuff behind the scenes…
In Beta 6 of Android Q, I’ve noticed that even though I clear the recents, big apps such as Facebook and Messenger load up super fast, whereas before they would take time reload completely.
The average user shouldn’t use Xiaomi. You can’t expect to use these phones out of the box without setting them up properly.
Google has said that they won’t allow it with Q so they were forced to change it.
I know this is great news, really glad because I really like miui but I feel like, at this point in time, this should be a given and not something we should be happy over lol.
I read around that on Android Q , it’s forbidden for the system to kill apps when you swipe them from recents and such… I guess there is some more stuff behind the scenes…
If only because chinese phones religiously kill background apps like it’s the plague in dark ages europe.
I hope it’s for the better…
I never had an issue with either of them so I’m not sure sorry
I did whitelist poopoo brain.
I’m talking about the fact you can whitelist all you want, it’d still close most of your apps when you opened a game because the LMK values were all out of wack.
No.
I’ve never found it to be a problem, except for Outlook where if you have unread notifications, the next time you receive an email you get “multiple” notifications, one for each unread mail plus the one you just got…
I tracked it down to the battery saver and turned it off for Outlook and now it works fine. I can’t see my situation being an edge case. I don’t game on my phone but do use social media, Viber, etc and don’t really have any issues, everything behaves as I think it should.
I think it’s better to be left up to the user but I’m not sure how you’d clue the average user in to how it all works. Perhaps default = off might be better with a battery tips splash when you set up the phone that tells you how to work the battery saver options…
I wish they would release such an update for MIUI 10.3.1 as well ¬¬ I’m hating this phone! ):
How are the notifications and AOD icons? Any different?
CHANGELOG 9.8.8
System
New – Xiaomi MI9 and Redmi K20Pro updated to Android 10 Q (not via OTA)
Xiaomi.eu roms are based on Chinese versions. So it seems like MIUI is ok with AOSP RAM management
Let us know if you find that this on the stable versions (when they release it). Thanks
So much nonesense in this sub is unbelievable.
Was it that hard to whitelist certain applications?
So after crying around like childs they finally removed one of their best features of miui. You were actually able to control what was running in the background.
Thanks. -.-
That’s good to know!
Notification issues solved? Disappearing lockscreen notification and status bar icons?
That’s great if it is true. aosp ram management is good than miui. That’s the only thing i hate about miui after notification issue.
It’s a CTS requirement in Q to use the unmodified AOSP RAM management. I’m not sure how this will effect the China ROM, since that doesn’t need approval for Google services.
my bad. sorry
If this is true, thank fucking god. Killing all my background apps made me flash a custom rom
I’m here waiting for them to release it for the standard mi mix 3. Sounds promising though
In previous Android versions you should get that, but you only need to have acess to programmer menu and disable RAM MANAGEMENT option, i guess…
Amazing, if true. Xiaomi should be shouting this from the rooftops. OS killing apps has been the bugbear of phone users for too long.
When they are able to do it, they won’t rush something out that may be broken.
yeah, i know.i have it installed. i am asking when will Q miui xiaomi eu rom available
Never seen a fluke like this 🤷♂️
No idea about battery yet, need to let it settle down
The latest xiaomi.eu ROM is MIUI10, at least the beta
Great. When will it come to xiaomi eu rom?
Are you sure it’s not some sort of fluke? How’s the battery holding up?
