Hey guys! Recently bought my first Xiaomi (Redmi Note 8) and I’m pushing 9 hours of SOT with normal usage, that’s more than any phone has ever given me. Couldn’t be happier with this device!

I had that problem with my previous phone (Alcatel Pop 4+). I was worried the battery would die on me just out of boredom long before I got home. Now I no longer worry about that. I have the Redmi Note 8 Pro.
Got it last year. Not a gamer. Only play eternium once in a while. I do mostly streaming (yt, podcasts, music) and social media round the clock, and say 2 movies per day. I doubt it’ll last so long with heavy gaming though.
That’s usually the case with any emulation, even in more powerful devices.
I just got Redmi Note 9, without the Pro, and I am also quite happy with the device – battery capacity is 5000 mAh. Quite heavy, though, about 200g.
Yeah…i just exchanged mine for a poco x3…A2 lite still holds up as a good phone for light to moderately heavy workloads…cannot express how impressed i was with mine
Ahh interesting. I’m in Australia so that must be it. Thanks for that mate
Congrats ! I recently bought rn9pro and I love it, I don’t game at all so I get around 14~16 SoT and I charge it every 3 days !

welcome to the megical wonderouse world of xiaomi
Dont overclock that chip. That will decrase tdp, means better battery life and less heat.
Ps:- I debloated some of the system apps using ADB
I used my redmi note 8 at the beginning for 4 days and not once charged it.
Its insane especially compared to my previous phone that couldnt even hold 3 hours long.
I’m on a Redmi S2 and on 32% battery. I recharged the phone two days ago 🙂
Shhhh. Don’t ruin the surprise :p
Sure thing, download this program: https://github.com/Szaki/XiaomiADBFastbootTools
Enable USB debugging on your phone and connect to PC. There you can see all the apps and background services you can remove. Don’t worry you won’t need root or anything! What I recommend disabling is MSA and Joyose which xiaomi uses for advertisements. This will save you battery and system resources.
Also, you can check this list of apps you can remove using the tool from above that won’t cause any issues, I have followed this list and can confirm there were no problems whatsoever on my Poco f2 pro: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-mi-10-ultra/how-to/adb-debloat-miui-12-0-8-list-t4160091/amp/

Optionally, you can run these two commands in adb:
— adb shell pm disable-user com.android.traceur
— adb shell cmd package bg-dexopt-job
These two commands help with the battery management of MIUI 12.

Finally, I recommend installing Blokada 4 from this link and NOT play store:
https://go.blokada.org/apk4
After installing and enabling it, enable Xiaomi Blocker by Jerryn70 in the hosts list. This will remove all ads from your phone! Make sure Blokada always runs in the background.
Enjoy your debloated device 🙂
Nice! I just got the poco X3, and the battery life is insane! So far really happy, especially as I only paid €179.
Give it time my friend 🙂
Xiaomi phones are best for their year 1 of their lifetime they’ll rollout an update just an year later where that’ll decrease that battery bdown to 5hrs SOT.
I’m planning on changing my F1 to PE+
Congrats! I upgraded from an iphone 6s that had a horrible, maybe 3 hours of usage, for an redmi note 8, couldn’t be happier. Got a great deal and only had to add 50 dollars to buy the RN8 since iphones are overpriced in my country.
Same and that is with my Xiaomi Mi A2!
Hope my new Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite will do better.
It depends on the region you have set your phone . In greece we don’t get any ads and I have been using xiaomi phones for three years .
You’re welcome! Let me know if you noticed any improvements after following these tips
This phone is really great overall if you consider the specsheet it had.
I was getting around 9.5 to 11 hours of SOT with occasional light gaming. Plus the custom rom to make it lighter and much smoother in general.
Xiaomis stayyyyyy winningggg
Yep, can recommand blokada.
Lmao. My RN8 is 10 months old and it usually gives me 12 hour browsing time for a full charge. I attached the current usage in which it gave me 7 hour SOT with just 50 something percent. [Here](https://i.imgur.com/IMM6dSb.jpg)
I have the same phone. I play games and it carries me for 7 hours.
Same man! I bought it 2 weeks ago and so far I’m amazed at this beauty
Do you get ads only after 6 month of usage?
Saving this. Thanks
I agree battery is very decent (on 8 pro aswell)
No, Xiaomi de-bloated themselves.
P.S. It’s an Android One Device.
Don’t over publicize it. Xiaomi will push an update and fuck it up. 😜
It is heavy because of that big battery and the Gorilla glass sandwich design (glass screen + frame + glass back, like in a sandwich). Glass is heavy, you know
Yeah do bare in mind that if for some reason you change region and then you revert it the ads might stick with you . Happened to me on my old RN5 because I switched to India to enable the theme store (which wasn’t available at the time globally) and the higher volume on earbuds .
It’s quite heavy true, but I get used to it in a week or two
I use a MI 9 and get 10 hrs of SOT with heavy social media use, streaming and on mobile data on miui 11.
Recently got the poco x3 and I can go 12 hours and still have it be 20-30% amazing battery life on these things
Accubattery
MIUI 12: let me destroy this phones battery life
Could agree with this, even with miui 12 xiaomi eu it wasnt doing good on battery department.
Thanks again. Really good to know
Which of your WiFi, Bluetooth, nfc or location is/are always on or off? Also, do u game or watch videos?
https://github.com/Szaki/XiaomiADBFastbootTools
Debloat after reading many articles on how to debloat and what to debloat in miui
Some of the apps may cause your phone to bootloop when you uninstall them.
Refer this too:

MIUI 12: I am gonna end this battery’s whole career
Do you have auto brightness on? If not, what’s the setting like?
I have a Mi A2 Lite which gives me 8hr on heavy usage with 19 % remaining and it’s much older than RN8 [see here](https://imgur.com/gallery/6mq0NzY)
The battery life in these Xiaomi devices are insane. Took it off the charger at 8AM and have been using it intermittently and it’s only at 96% 2 hours later
I own the original poco F1 and everyone talks about the ads on Poco and other Xiaomi phones but I have never had any ads. The only option is I can turn on “suggested apps” in folders I create but and I even tried it but it was crappy suggestions. Maybe its because I got global firmware or maybe I’m blind but last 2 years I haven’t noticed a single ad let alone something I could press that takes me to app store or elsewhere
Which miui version are you on miui 10 or 11? Just dont upgrade to miui 12 it sucks battery
Nah bro it’s not exaggerating coz I am owning this device for 3 years and my dad has a redmi note 8 which he bought 2 months ago and I can confirm this to you that even he says that it my phone is super speedy then is redmi note 8 and also so the battery of my phone is way better than his he himself says that my phone is a clean meaning it doesn’t have miui junk but he also says one thing that it’s missing some basic features (listed below) which he cannot live without otherwise he would have traded the set :
No 3 finger swipe to screenshot
No hotspot details as in which device is connected and using how much data.
No double tap to wake
Which custom roms can achieve but my dad says custom roms should be used on secondary phones.
Which app or settings shows you those battery stats?
Nice one, my Redmi Note 9 Pro does for me around 13 hours of screen on time in general but it takes me 5 days to zero the battery with my usage. In comparison to my old galaxy s8 which needed recharging every day.
And you can extend it even more with some debloating and tweaking!
