Uninstalling the updates for the app will stop it being seen as a security risk.

To uninstall updates,
Long press the themes app icon, Select app info, Then uninstall updates at the bottom of the screen.
i got the same massage this morning .. now i can not enter themes or becground pictures settings …

I got the same today, disabled it. Not gonna miss the themes app at all
disabling it means u won’t even be able to change wallpapers that’s why i have kept it
I got this too and me on autopilot made the shitty mistake of disabling Themes. Although I can still see the app it cannot be enabled again
And that’s why I want to get it back
just go to setting > app manager > then click three dots at upper right and tap show system apps > find themes click on it and tap uninstall updates then it would come back and if it doesn’t then just install the latest mi theme store apk from Google after doing the same process

No need to do this big process. Just go to app management in settings. Search themes app then uninstall updates. Thats all!!

I got this too just disabled it anyway will enable again when I need it and remove updates as mentioned
Connect phone via adb to your PC, and type this command `adb shell pm enable whatever.themes.package.name.is`
To find the package name of the Themes app, you cab use an app called App Inspector on the Play Store.

Of course you can. Rooting your phone isn’t important for installing custom roms
guys, pls help. i got the same notification so i just pressed disable without thinking much of it, and it completely deleted my themes app so now I cannot change my wallpaper. i tried to download it back from some apk I found on google, but it didn’t work. does anyone know an official link to re download it? would rly appreciate the help.
They stopped updating my Redmi note 7 and kept me out of Android 11+, it’s much more fluid now on LineageOS and not bloated. The only thing I miss is the weather app funny translation

I highly believe this as well, Google Play Protect is prone to mislabeling apps as malicious even though they are not.

I also disabled Themes but I got it back just by downloading its APK and installing it.

Go to settings > apps > themes > remove updates. It’ll work again.
I removed updates, it didn’t work. What did work however was the disabling of app preferences
I had disabled the app… went on apkmirror, downloaded the last version, updated and everything is back to normal, even play protect isn’t saying anything.

Just go to Settings >> Apps >> Manage Apps >> Click the 3 dots upper right >> Reset Preference. Then Theme will be visible again. ☑️☑️
That’s what broke the straw and made me install Pixel Experience A12. No regrets, beside having no volte/vowifi which should be helped by downgrading firmware.
Same happened to me and my dumass deleted it and regretted it so it took me hour to get that app back
