In recent Android 10 based MIUI 11 builds, Xiaomi added a handy feature to basically force dark mode almost any system or 3rd party app. It isn’t perfect and accurate 100% in many apps, but gets the job done since many apps still don’t have dedicated dark theme/skin such as Facebook for example.

What are your thoughts on this feature?
Even redmi note 5 users 🥺🥺🥺
I got the miui11 update from eu stable rom on may mi9s, yet i didn’t get the global dark mode?! (Already had normal dark mode before)
I think he’s in china
Doesnt work for whatsapp
In your opinion, how is Whatsap over valued?
Which phone are you using? I’m using Redmi note 7 pro on miui 11 but android 9 and I’m not getting the force dark mode option
What device is going to have MIUI 11 Android 10?
it looks sick!
Argh
Kolko hrvata vidim po aliexpressu i redditu sta imaju xiomije je nes nevjerojatno hahahah
Same here on a Mi9, i have the update today (11.0.5.0 QFAEUXM) and i don’t have this global Dark mode.
dark facebook looks really awesome =o
But the weird thing, I’m on Android 9
is he lying? i use telegram but 99% of the people i know don’t even use messenger, it’s whatsapp or nothing. Even companies, sometimes i want to PHONE people to solve some issue and they say only via whatsapp.
We brazilians over value this shit and you know it.
Hahahaha
It’s a Android 10 thing, sorry
Black is better if your panel is oled
It does, but they are in conflict with each other and the text is unreadable when you have global dark mode on. It doesn’t even matter whether Messenger dark mode is on or not, global dark mode is just incompatible with this app, at least in my case.
No doubt, Miui 11 is awesome on my Mi8
I think pixels are also oled
And I am sorry for being agressive in my response
Hahahaaha 😆
Use Telegram instead
When will MIUI 11 be available on the Mi 5?
India and Global release dates are the same. You can look it up at en.miui.com
Y’all talk about battery as if that was the reason why people use dark mode. Screw the battery, spare me my eyes!
Not very easy to tell everyone you know to switch aswell
Its not a rom thing. Its a WhatsApp thing. When they want to make it dark they will. No one has control over it except themselves
Are u for real, having a mostly dark screen is gonna save u tons of battery. That’s why some people even go with dark backgrounds. You’re turning off a big part of your display, it’s not “0.02%”
Doesn’t it make ghosting way worse though?
I can’t speak for OP, but i live in Brazil, and people in here seems to always use the worst version of whatever service you think of, if you don’t use whatsapp you basically can’t talk to anyone.
Snapchat?
Is the beta out or are you using a xiaomi.eu?
“stalin portrait on aliexpress.”
Dayum. That’s what I call the true advocate of
A technicality not even worth mentioning lol
In oled yes, it’s much better. But I personally much prefer the dark grey look too
doesnt work on facebook for me do i need facebook lite ?
They’re comparing very dark grey to true black, the difference between white and dark is undisputable, but the difference between very dark grey and true black is so marginal that in irl usage won’t effect the user when it comes to charging
Is not really WhatsApp that’s over valued.
I believe that what’s is over valued is the instant message service. It really sucks having to be forced to use a message app for a lot of things that could be solved by using other better options, just like the example you gave.
Anyway, why does someone from Brazil always has to have the “vira-lata” attitude and to be worse having that attitude in a discussion about a subject that has nothing to do with the culture from Brazil.
I can believe it may look better yes, but *be* is a technicality.
Strangely enough was my whatsapp suddenly dark yesterday
But it was gone after a update
Finally recieved Android 10 miui 11 on my Poco F1 yesterday. And there’s no option like this. 🙄
My only thought is Grey>Black
Doesn’t messenger have their own dedicated dark mode?
U clearly don’t even know what an oled screen is
Hope they could fix this global dark mode implementation because funtouch 9 on android 9 does the job to make facebook dark. I’m using MiuiMix based on Miui 11 though.
Black > Grey for battery
In 3rd party apps, it’s dark grey, very pleasant to the eyes IMO.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t work well for two applications which I use very much, i.e. Facebook and Facebook Messenger. I’m still waiting for fix because generally it does good but it’s still useless until the most used apps don’t look correctly.
Waiting for the update on my K20 pro..😍
How do I get miui 11 on my mi9t? Im new to Xiaomi (this is my first xiaomi device), when i go to my setting and look for updates I get nothing…
how does whatsapp look?
An oled works differently because it turns off the blacks, that’s why black mode is better for oleds. It saves battery because those pixels aren’t on
‘global’
Looks cool, i like my apps vanilla tho~
The total difference between grey and black is less than 0.02% of total battery. It is not much better, it’s a technical better.
Good job
Above reply source is Mi India. There’s no response from Mi Global. So we only have to wait.

Parabéns pelo seu complexo de vira-lata.
Sorry for the late reply. I was using the Chinese beta but switched to the weekly Xiaomi.Eu beta build which is always fantastic.
I have posted about it extensively on XDA.
To legendo samo dark mode i brzo grudajući pijesak
That’s only one aspect though. They probably meant black looks better on OLED than grey – didn’t talk about energy usage…
Is that the new font? I’m currently on xiaomi.eu and they didn’t want to include it because ‘spacing issues’. I honestly think it looks pretty good.
Well, in Korea if you don’t use Kakaotalk you are doomed, in Japan it’s Line. It’s a cultural thing. He is implying that we chose WhatsApp because it’s worse. We chose it because it came first. Technology has a lot of these, where the first one to arrive usually grabs the biggest market share. The tides only turn when there is money involved and the competition can offer something equal or better with a lower price, but that is not the case for WhatsApp, unfortunately.
Yeah, it becomes black once you enable the dark mode but then it turns normal again after a short time and never goes black again
On the 22nd
The global dark mode option isn’t available on the miui 11 india stable
