I can’t believe it come’s already in Italian, when I first bought the RN3 in december 2015 I spent a week unlocking and installing the italian MIUI. I love the Xiaomi brand\(have a MiBand2 too\), hope to see more products here soon.
EDIT: this is a better comparison in size for the RN5 near the RN3 [https://i.imgur.com/IfMx0k2.jpg](https://i.imgur.com/IfMx0k2.jpg)
where did you buy it?
Aliexpress during the Xiaomi flash sale on March 28th. Payed 186€ 4/64 version.
Have you been using your phone as a welcome mat? That thing is beat. Must feel good to use a new one with a clean screen.
I might get it once/if it receives official LineageOS support and after my phone breaks.
Well they are formally entering French and Italian markets at the end of May. Looks like Xiaomi’s next big project is Europe, and I for one couldn’t be more excited.
Did you buy the 4gb or the 6gb?
Congratulation! I also will replace my RN3 SD with a RN5 \(Global\) in few days should my phone arrive.
There is no 6GB version \(yet\).
> Aliexpress during the Xiaomi flash sale on March 28th. Payed 186€ 4/64 version.
4gb RAM 64 gb ROM
Many AliExpress resellers have the 6gb version
Which seller did you get it from?
China version, **no Global** 6gb version yet.
A user on here on Reddit mention that there a global version of the 6gb model in HK that just launched yesterday so we’ll have to wait a bit…
Oh un altro pizza pasta a cui piacciono gli xiaomi 😀
I think I’ll wait for some reviews of the 6x, i don’t know what to buy between him and the note5pro
Also entering other (Europian) countries via 3 Group, Kruidvat and other stores.
Some countries are: The Netherlands, The United Kingdom, Austria and Denmark. Not sure what models they will sell because Kruidvat has, until now, only sold super cheap no brand smartphones (€50 or less) as far as I know. So a €100+ Xiaomi device would be something entirely new for them and I doubt that it’s the right store to sell expensive electronics in general.
Oh sorry , NOTEd
Seriously it is that big compared to the other one? The first one looks like a tablet side by side.
Mad isn’t it. The small one there is 5.5 inch! Phones are just way too big today.
5.5 inches = 13.97 centimetres.

Oh boi 🙁 hope Ill get my one soon shipped. Could use a new phone already
Yes, I actually worked for 3 in the UK some years ago, when my daily driver was a Mi2S. Back then I had to sort of sidestep questions from customers about what phone I was using. I was clearly just… 4 years too soon.
Definitely a bigger device but the Note 5 is also elevated as its sitting on top of the box, making it look even bigger.
Xiaomi Online Store
Like others said is only beacuse is on top of the box. Sorry for the confusion, is only half centimeter higher. The 18:9 aspect ratio is probably the best upgrade for me with the snap660 instead of the mediatek one.
Eh pretty much, in 3 years It made 3 big falls but most of the damage is on the tempered glass film. I remove It now and is much more less a welcome mat 😀
Ahahah, finalmente arriva anche da noi sta benedetta xiaomi. Probably the 6x is better in everything but i love the bigscreen of the RNote series and the price is competitive (185€).
What an upgrade. Congratulations
SD636
Ehilà altro pasta e pizza, i’d wait a few months, the price will drop nicely on the rn5 and the A2 should get announced
I really really want a RN5, currently have a RN4 (mediatek). It’s not bad and could probably do me another year or 2, but you know how it feels to get an Mtk device and then watch the Snapdragon model roll out.
Congratulations!
Enjoy your new device. 🙂 🙂
6x is better in everything except it has shorter battery life, no 3.5mm jack and no SD card slot
I’m sad to see the size bump
Bit of a deal breaker, ain’t it? Disappointing.
That angle is a bit strange. It’s about 9mm longer than the Redmi Note 3.
I got one at that exact event too! I’m still waiting for mine to arrive and it hasn’t even left HK yet 🙁 I live in Australia
Edit: congratulations on the new phone!
You are correct, but what the Redmi line of devices offer for the sheer price-to-performance ratio is top-notch!
IMO, the difference isn’t THAT huge.
I have found the panel on the Redmi 4X, even if ‘only’ 720p to be first rate!
Honestly, haven’t noticed any ‘screen gaps’ on any Xiaomi device I have used.
If you mean that the flagships have the screen sitting FLUSH with the rest of the body, then yes, that I do get.
But honestly, it doesn’t bother me at all.
And yes; the points you mention are very valid. That’s why you have a ‘Mi’ line. They’re the creme’le creme of Xiaomi’s offerings.
You’re on the same track with me 🙂
2 monts ago I got a LeEco Le S3 with the Hello X20 (thankfully I got it for just 90€).
Now that the RN5 just got out is my dream phone for me :
120k antutu points with 8-10hrs SOT and cameras with portait mode.
So I’m now waiting for the prices to drop as the supply will increase in order to get the 6gb version (global version is preferred but China version would work also here in Greece)
they grow up so fast … :*)
Could you post a side-by-side comparison to notice the actual difference in sizes?
Wait how many inches is the RN5?
Thebattery is the only thing that concerns me.Maybe it’ll be still okay if optimized well and with that processor, because a 3000 mAh on a 6″ screen is nothing
Good call, I’m not in any rush to buy and the RN5 would definitely last me 2-3yrs easy. To be honest my Note 4 is great, just wish the battery reflected the 4000mah capacity better. I still average anywhere between 4-6hrs Sot, so it’s not unusable by any stretch but the snapdragons are unmatchable in terms of battery efficency. And not to mention easier /more options when it comes to custom roms if you fancy tinkering.
Couldn’t agree more.
I’m stuck on the buggy EUI due to MTK chipset
As the 6gb version was only announced on the 4th May, as you pointed out. *(I wasn’t aware of that point)*
But my statement stands only Chinese version is available on trusted/reliable aliexpress resellers at this time.
Example Chinese Version: – https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Original-Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-5-Mobile-Phone-6GB-RAM-64GB-ROM-Snapdragon-636-Octa-Core-12MP/311331_32868774587.html
I’ve order the 6gb global version on geekbuying. I’m waiting for it to ship since 13/4..
My shipment was in this state for 2 days. I’d say depending on your country its near the end of its transit. Mine went from Singapore admin to Ireland within 2 days.
my phone arrived in the country yesterday. And I’m expecting delivery tomorrow or Thursday. OP has been somewhat lucky and gotten it quite quickly.
they don’t use screen protectors
and no jack, otherwise i would buy it
No, Ireland
Ah that must be painful. I feel lucky that while xiaomi haven’t updated the base android version for mine, I can still get weekly (xiaomi EU rom) updates. Xiaomi keep the updates coming in terms of security patches, which is handy.
I’m stuck on EUI stable 20s from 2016 (Google Intergration ROM) and sometimes the rom become so buggy I need to reflash.
Magisk would randomly won’t work untill I reboot (It a rarity on 20s rom but it still happens)
I have flashed the latest 28s stable but it was full of bloatware China apps and camera would randomly force close.
Other than that the phone is pretty good it’s fast and the cameras are very capable for the price .
I think for someone who doesn’t care about rooting ,custom ROMs and updates it’s the best choice
Hey, adaa1262, just a quick heads-up:
**untill** is actually spelled **until**. You can remember it by **one l at the end**.
Have a nice day!

I hope that i can cancel the order and takey money back.
Ouch not good. Yea some of the Le Eco phones knocking about now are great value, there’s the Le Pro 3 elite on Gearbest for £115 which is a seems a pretty solid phone on the hardware front (snapdragon 820, band 20, finger print scanner, big battery, to name a few) and would def be a good device if you’re not concerned about updates/roms as you say.
Also interested in seeing which devices Xiaomi bring to the UK as they announced that they’re partnering up with the network provider Three. For now the RN5 would def be my upgrade choice, nothing seems to be close in terms of value and features.
Mine never left HK in the tracking information on Aliexpress. Probably is already in flight.
It isnt as big as it seems in the picture, is a 5.99 vs 5.50, its only beacuse the RN5 is on top of the box.
EDIT: this is the real size from both [https://i.imgur.com/IfMx0k2.jpg](https://i.imgur.com/IfMx0k2.jpg)
Sure, there’s it. Sorry for crap quality, used a old Lumia for the photo. [https://i.imgur.com/IfMx0k2.jpg](https://i.imgur.com/IfMx0k2.jpg)
I did. the phone had a tempered glass film, but when it falls from 1.7 meters even with the bump case there’s nothing you can do.
5.99 vs 5.50 of the RN3, a better comparison [https://i.imgur.com/IfMx0k2.jpg](https://i.imgur.com/IfMx0k2.jpg)
Ehm really bad now? Until 6 months ago the battery could do a 12 hours with mobile data\+bluetooth always on and alot of screen time with medium brightness. Now it last 6\-8 hours. Performance wise it was good too, never a slowdown, of course some games where too heavy for the phone but everything else was really fine, now probably beacuse is full of apps and file its start to do some microfreeze or apps crashing. Nothing tragic and after 3 years its still a nice phone for daily usage.
Hey, PaiiNx, just a quick heads-up:
**alot** is actually spelled **a lot**. You can remember it by **it is one lot, ‘a lot’**.
Have a nice day!

Thank you! That’s good and encouraging news 🙂 here’s hoping!
> Many AliExpress resellers have the 6gb version
And I replied

I was replying to aliexpress statement and you replied to me.
Thats what i thought too. It was afraid of not having 16:9 anymore, but fortunately it is pretty good, especially 5.99” on your screen.
It’s actually noticeably larger….
That’s still hell of a difference, considering that RN3 is already pretty huge. I wish the new standard was 5.5 inch bezelless, that would have been just perfect.
unfortunately yes, because I chose DHL for a fast shipment instead of the regular one.
Wow, not that big of a difference but the RN5 seems a LOT bigger, at least in the first picture.
i just hope the note 5 will be available at launch cause i want that one badly (and no i don’t want to import it ^^)
no issues, survived tons of falls, but corners lost color and power button works worse, also without case for 2 years
Its already in Portugal and spain if im not mistaken
Yup, or atleast for the RN3 it was tax free with the regular but of course i waited like 40 days after shipment instead of 10.
