I will install it myself if i want to.

Wow that is strange. So it looks like miui installed the facebook app just like that.
Nope. I have the global note 7 myself and it didn’t have anything on it. And neither did my 4x before. I don’t understand these complaints since my experience was bloatware free
I got my mi a1 with some Indian app called “caping”
It was hidden, I don’t remember seeing it in setting (I could be wrong), found it accidentally using es file explorer
Agreed. Thank God for ADB uninstalling. So much Google crap preinstalled.
I have the global version tho.
True tho. Facebook sucks
Don’t need to debloat to remove these. Not sure why OP is crying about something that can be easily uninstalled
this tool works with most of the devices. I tried it with POCO F1, Redmi Note 5, Samsung Galaxy Note 8, Xiaomi Redmi 1s, Motorola moto G5. Works with both stock and custom ROMs.
No. All the adb commands can be run without unlocking or rooting.
ES used to be great, then changed owners like 2 years ago
Just used Saki’s debloat tool for the first time, it’s amazing!
I am talking about how facebook got installed without any notice, without any sysyem update, after more than 3 months.
Family member recommend es to me, but since it was useless I deleted it next day
You probably bought the Chinese versions, in the global one if I recall correctly it usually autoinstalls that suite of apps
This is the problem why Android will never have a unified message. Duo came so close… You can’t just expect everyone who uses Android to have it.
you can remove the app, but not the background service Wich is running 24/24. the sad truth.
personally use xiaomi eu
and it’s a root app haha
EXACTLY!!! it’s amazing how people still love this mass surveillance system
I can easly delete it (not diseable) from my phone and i have eu version of it. Pocophone F1
At least they didn’t make it a System app though it doesn’t make any sense why they would make 3 more pre-installed Facebook apps as System apps.
Also, the Facebook app stays on the background even if you force stop it so it’s better to install the Lite version or just use the browser.
Hmm not sure if that applies to Germany. I don’t know a single person in my family or group of friends that uses FB. Some use WA to chat with each other but most switched to another chat app Telegram i think not sure i use discord and email or sms.
To each their own. I’m against FB and all it’s sub companies and no app should be preinstalled imho. (Only the bare minimum)
Yeah.. I deleted it the next day
Thats very bad, are you sure it wasn’t a system update? Don’t think Xiaomi would slip up like that.
Can confirm. My mom and dad will buy anything that’s cheap and enough for facebook and regular browsing, which happens to be chinese phones a lot of the time.
>Eastern European here and yes, people here will buy cheaper phones and yes, they will ask for Facebook.
I use WhatsApp bcos it’s so damn convenient. Should be a preinstalled app with every phone imo
It’s a pretty bad chat app though. Telegram is vastly superior ( you can edit messages, API is great for integrations, web and desktop versions work great, and stickers are cool).
Does it need unlocking or rooting? I don’t want to lose warranty.
Definitely seems like it. Wps office, alliexpress and facebook appeared on my phone without any reason.
Do you really think western people are the only people who use facebook?
You are quite right. The app is still there but its disabled for the main user. If a new user profile is created, the facebook app will appear once again for the new user (not the original user profile).
Just use the old pro version. Search for apk. Still better than most of file explorers on play store.
change region to europe,
Just delete it? Use https://github.com/Szaki/XiaomiADBFastbootTools for example.
It’s dual sided situation – sometimes manufacturers pre-install it for noob and older people that go “Does this phone come with Facebook?” when shopping.
Wut, Xiaomi phones sell like hotcakes in the west.
Ok Boomer
Yep, the guy who made ADB deserves a pat on the back
here is my upvote
is not much, but its honest work
Just use Saki’s Xiaomi ADB/Fastboot Tools to debloat and remove Facebook and whatever else you’d like. You can find it in the wiki.
Only FB? Chrome, Duo, Miui forum, Wallpaper carousel, Google lens and the list goes on and on… Had to de bloat half of my phone…
There’s plenty of people who use FB who are not from the west. It’s pretty popular worldwide.
Thus why the Android One series among other reasons
All MIUI (not eu) have 3 there Facebook related apps. The first is the one you use and see installed and two other are making profit from your usage.
Just uninstall it https://imgur.com/a/ZnYDatc
Probably
What’s funny to me is that reviewers never some to point this out smh
Yeah, i had mi a2, but still, miui has a lot of features that i am used to.
But installing facebook, wps office, and aliexpress apps is just…well…sh*tty
All three can be disabled or uninstalled for current user with the tool.
I am not sure about Xiaomi phones, but apparently for Samsung phones, disabling the FB app would revert the app into an empty placeholder/stub a size of a few bytes, waiting for the core app to be downloaded if it was reenabled (Because when an app gets disabled, it’ll revert back to the factory installed version. Which is a stub for Samsung’s case). Being a stub and disabled, it will not do anything at all.
Do not quote me on that one, since I read this from somewhere and I am not 100% sure if it’s credible or not. But the RN4 I’m using did not come with FB pre-installed, so I cannot confirm that on my side.
Eastern European here and yes, people here will buy cheaper phones and yes, they will ask for Facebook.
My mi9t came without Facebook installed, but with Facebook services in
My mi 9t came without any Facebook app, unlike all the other brands I had.
I wonder how much FB pay these manufacturers to install it on their ROM.
That’s an Indonesian app and it was some firmware mishap…and get rid of ES
*Childish Gambino kicks the door*
THIS IS AMERICA
It happened this morning. On mi 9t. Global version.
Lol
This right here. Why battle all that stuff when the alternative is superior and free of all the crap?
My last update was miui11 and it was few weeks ago, this was few days ago.
I had recorder updated twice and mi share once in past few days
Edit: i really have no other ideas, i thought more people experienced this.
Event if you remove the facebook app pre installed, the facebook services are still on the phone. You need to run the commands below in adb shell to remove it fully:
adb shell pm uninstall -k –user 0 com.facebook.system
adb shell pm uninstall -k –user 0 [com.facebook.services](https://com.facebook.services)
adb shell pm uninstall -k –user 0 com.facebook.katana
adb shell pm uninstall -k –user 0 com.facebook.appmanager
Mid 40’s in the USA here, just picked up a mi 9t pro. I can do without Facebook, I don’t really use it anymore.
I never installed it – still have that Facebook Services process runninig in the back. Wtf Mosad?
It’s ok, i can remove it normally. I will keep it in mind though.
Problem is that there was no system update or nothing, and xiaomi just installed facebook and the rest. It makes me question what else can they do.
No, it was installed automatically today. I owned the phone for a few months already. I never used facebook, yet xiaomi decided it’s a good idea to install it. Without any notice, without me triggering a system update. Just installed it.
Really* popular. I don’t understand people that think FB and other social medias are popular in the US only
Indeed. RN7 rise!
There’s no Facebook app whatsoever in my Redmi Note 7 tho.
