So sorry about that. It can be very annoying and uncomfortable. I just got a notification that update 12.0.5 (Indian version) is out. Hopefully, the Global variant will be out soon and it will correct it.

Yes, I did and tested them too. I did the #*#* and numbers to get into the secondary test screen and they all passed, I did the full factory reset too, everything.If I call someone I can hear them and they can hear me but only through the loudspeaker, I can’t hear anything through the ear speaker. If someone calls me and I answer they can hear me but I cannot hear them. It’s craziness, once I put them on speaker I can hear them and we can talk, and then I can take it off speaker phone and the volume drops but where still talking through the loudspeaker! With a headset it works as usual. I’m so bummed because I’ve only had the phone one year and I really like it! I don’t know anyone with Redmi here because you can’t buy them from a dealer only off the internet. The funny part is, it’s my business, I sell replacement parts and screens and accessories to repair shops and small retailer’s. I was going to upgrade in the next year and get a good 5g Xiaomi or even a Poco. Xiaomi said they have heard some customers complain of this speaker problem! They actually told me use it with a headset or get a new phone or wait for an upcoming upload that might help it. As you can see by my long winded rant that this has driven me 😦😦😦😦😦
I created the folder, that’s mention in the post (I put it both in internal memory and SD card) and then in the camera app under settings the experimental functions appeared
Someone experienced like I did? I followed all the instructions it went well. I went and do my routine when charging my phone and now after it charged the folder is now gone and I checked the camera settings it went back to its normal settings.
How did you do it? Didnt work for me 🙁

What version is this? Mine is 12.0.2 (Android 11) and I don’t have this issue.
Have you tried ‘clear speaker’ in additional setting?

12.5.5.0 European release. I’m in America but bought the European version, our update has been rolled out first before India.
After I uploaded the MIUI12 upload on the last day of May it disabled my earpiece speaker, there’s no sound coming out of it and I’m not the only one, people have been complaining about the same problem with there Xiaomi and Redmi phones. It worked great before I did the upload, I love the phone but this problem is a nightmare. Basically all your sound is coming out of the main speaker like your on speaker phone but your not. If someone calls you you need to use a headset or you cannot hear them or put it on speaker phone! You can call someone and you only hear them out of your main speaker and your not even on speaker phone and your ear speaker doesn’t work at all!!! You basically have no privacy making a phone call unless your using a headset.
I’ve had the same issue I can’t video or take the phone off’ve loudspeaker, it isn’t the speaker earphones dont work either when plugged in there’s a software bug that’s bugged my speaker each reset it would work again I touched the settings and it went, anytime I try and open video on camera it forces shut

As said by Bu\_Hasan, it activates internal tools to improve the quality of photos and videos. Don’t know how good it is as some of the photos look blurry, so I will try enabling it.

Go to file manager / DCIM / camera and just create a folder lab_options_visible. Open camera and go to settings and scroll all the way down.
I get a few new options on my mi max 3, no magic tools or dual camera, but I do get SR and an option for “parallel processing”
There is also an option written in Chinese
I’ve disabled some experimental options and camera couldnt open anymore so i had to delete the folder, thankfully it got fixed

Internal magic tools : activates internal tools to improve the quality of photos and videos.
Face detection : the mobile camera can recognize the face and frame it in a box to improve the result.
Hide face detection frame automatically : this option hides the box that appears when activating the previous option but keeps the improvements.
Beautify in Portrait mode : Activate beauty mode in all camera modes.
Turn on dual camera : turn on dual camera to enhance photos.
Turn on dual SAT camera – currently does not have a user function.
Turn on MFNR : when activated, the device takes 6 consecutive shots which when superimposed and eliminate the noise from the photo.
Turn on SR : with this option the resolution of the image is enlarged as if the sensor of the mobile were larger.
Turn on quick shot animation : activate the quick shot animation in the app.
Has anyone ran into the problem with there Redmi Note 9s where the new MIUI12 upload has disabled there earpiece speaker? I’ve tried everything possible to fix it including factory reset, no luck!
