This topic is years old but i found it and came here hoping for answers. It is partially correct. I had issues getting mine connected. Was about to send it back but kept playing with it. The important thing to not is the REGION setting is NOT the phone setting. It is within the MI app. I was changing the region on the phone and not getting anywhere. So remember, change the region on the app and you will be good. I had mine set to Germany but it is still reading in English. All is good.
Got this for a Christmas present and it doesn’t work at all. Waste of money. I’ve tried everything.
What’s the app?
Can you please share the app with me? I’ve been having the same problem as you.
So I had to set it to China but I was disappointed only th person who printed the picture could see it but I found this other app called fram alive and you seem to be able to view the video from multiple devices
Does anyone have any idea what shell I do? I tried everything turning to different languages turning to other regions but nothing seems to work. I even tried hard reset but it always end up not working. It always ends up with the following problem “Couldn’t verify (100)” please help me 🥹
this worked after 7 tries. worst user experience I ever had.
This is the answer…I was able to add the printer after following these steps exactly.
Thanks this worked perfectly, here’s what I did:
Download app.
Change region to Mainland China.
Add 1 room.
Look for a device, then quickly press the power button on the printer 6 times, wait 5 seconds then turn it on.
The printer will show up on the screen, now just follow the on-screen instructions.
Modded version of xiaomi mi home app exists that removes any problems with that, i discovered it 1 month ago and its a blessing. any chinese version of xiaomi products work with global versions for me now!!

Hi everyone ! Got it figured out thanks to Mi community app !
I didn’t had a room setup in the Mi Home App, si I created a room, and then the pairing process worked !
Thanks everyone !!
I think mijia app is the same as mi home but have different names depending on where you live.
You would save me ! Only tried through the Mi Home app
I read stuff about rhe mijia app, but can’t find it on the playstore
Chinese ROM then. It is chinese software either way.
Hey i just activated one myself in Europe, from aliexpress too, I’ll see if I can find the method that worked.
Have you tried pressing print when sharing a picture, select picture and see if it shows up? Or connecting through it via Bluetooth?
Yeah don’t worry, if I manage to make it work, i’ll make a post or something
Would be very interested to hear your opinion on this printer if/when you get it paired up. All my Xiaomi smart home devices work when app is set to China servers. I’m in UK. Excellent products at great prices. I’m a big fan.
Well yeah for your specific scenario I have no clue how the printer works region-wise. I’d double check google for region locking on that product. Otherwise hopefully get a return if it doesn’t work, if that’s possible.
So ?… I’ll check on XDA, but couldn’t find anything until now
Feel like i bought it for nothing 🙁
Thanks for all the informations though
No problem!
That’s helping thanks 🙂
Sounds like a Garbage product tbh.
They mean the Chinese region version of the software, not who it is developed by.
The phones generally have a Global and Chinese version, and a lot of their other products (even lightbulbs) can rely on region specific hardware.
This can introduce issues depending on the product. I waited for the Global/ EU version of my Xiaomi phone so it would be seamless to turn on and use here in America. Meanwhile I bought a Chinese version of the Mi Band 3 (with Chinese packaging and software) but just had to change the language for it to be fully functional where I live.
The advice the post above you gave is based in reality; while it’s not always a deal-breaker or important, it’s often safest to wait for a Global edition on aliexpress and buy from there. Otherwise some searching around XDA or the usual sites can yield some information.
A Chinese product coming with Chinese software? You don’t say. Edit: I see what your saying now.
I thought it would work, I Saw videos of it on european territory, and i believed i buyed global version
Yes it did discovered it, but can’t pair. I’m using Redmi 5 Plus. Should receive note 8 pro real soon
Change the location to China. I have a couple of xiaomi products that only discoverable if location set to China.
Yes, I’m on Redmi 5 Plus, so I do have a Mi account, even though I think it created itself at first boot when I got the phone
Ok.. have you signed in with your mi account? Try changing region to where you have bought that device from. Mainland China might work too.
Just tried that, and made me go further. But can’t pair, I have a bluetooth error “couldn’t verify (-7)”
Change your device location to India or something else and see if it works.
