Do you think Xiaomi/Redmi start selling phones with over 4000mah batteries now that Samsung and other companies are pushing bigger batteries?

  • 0
  • 0

Seems like other mid-range lineups, especially Samsung A/M-series are pushing the battery boundary in the same price category as Xiaomi. Heck the other day I found the Galaxy A40s for $200 with a 5000mah battery.

Other companies like Motorola, Vivo, Oppo, Asus and others are following suit offering phones with 4500-5000 mAh batteries. Besides the Mi Max and original Mi Mix it seems like Xiaomi isn’t too keen to push past 4000mah.

What do you guys think?

The Redmi Note 8 will get a 5000mah battery.

The Mi Max 3 has a 5500mah battery and that one came out more than a year ago

    Can you summarize it?
5g range is a ridiculous 500 meters, some might think it’s just a little over some powerful Wi-Fi. If it’s not speed (3 times 4g?) what’s so battery hungry?

Yeah and the Mi Max line is all but dead, so the phone they still make with the largest battery is around 4000-4100mah while a lot of other manufacturers are pushing 4500-5000 into phones over the past few years.

You clearly didn’t even read what I said.

It says OVER 4000 mAh. If you read what I actually wrote I’m talking about phones with 4500-5000 mAh batteries. Not the dozens of 4000mah battery phones Xiaomi churns out.

Go to GSM Arena and sort by phones made in the last 2 years with 4100mah+ batteries. You’ll see that mid-range in the past 2 years has made a huge push to this segment. I’ve been using Redmi Note series phones since the Note 3 and it just feels like Xiaomi has this massive stock of 4000mah batteries they shove into every device now lol.

Yeah but I am referring to OVER 4000. If you look at very recent mid-range phones, almost 100 have been released with >4100mah in the past 2 years

Bigger battery is better since no one will want to keep charging the phones if they drain every 2-3 hours

A lesser known fact is that the phone/SIM connection strength in your area affects your battery life a lot. So if your connection is bad then the signal is unstable which means that your phone has to reconnect to the connection continuously which means that more battery is consumed by the phone

I think so. Xiaomi isn’t the most “original” or “authentic” when it comes to phone design. When they see the markets going for bigger battery in all segment, they will do so too. At least i predict next mi mix and mi series will have larger battery

    I have note 7 and [my backup.](https://www.imgur.com/a/Bzt29NW)

You try resetting. You will get good backup. If you are only into whatsapp and reddit you should get more than 10h sot. I get 9-10 with an hour of youtube in hd. If full hd then it will be 6-7sot. Gaming continuously drains in 4h.
Moderate gaming anywhere between 5-7h sot.

OP wants a phone that weighs at least a pound or more.

Are we going back to the day of a luggable phone…

Battery size means NOTHING when you have an SOC that doesn’t sip power.

And as someone else has mentioned, the phones OP is stating, only came out this year. Xiaomi has been doing it since, 2016, as per my POST.

Motorola, Vivo, Oppo? They only have like one phone with >4000 mAh battery and only released in recent times. Meanwhile Xiaomi have: Mi Max, Mi Mix, Redmi Note series, and etc since 2016…

So to answer your question: yes, Xiaomi already did it since 2016.

I really do think they should! For example, the droid razr Maxx which came out in 2013 had an internal battery of 3500mah. The current Moto G7 Power has a 5000mah battery so the technology is very capable of putting a big battery in a thin-ish phone!

Xiaomi has had a LOT of phones with 4000mAh or larger batteries. Are you just here to fud because you don’t know your shit?

The MiMax line had 4800mAh+ batteries. Redmi note series, 4000mAh batteries. The original MiMix 4400mAh+. Mi9T 4000mAh battery, MiA3 4030mAh battery, etc.

Seriously, do some research before you post something so ignorant. Xiaomi has had phones with 4000mAh batteries since January 2016.

I must be the only person who can hardly get 6 hours of screen on time. I basically only use WhatsApp and reddit, and it’s been like this with the 2 4000mah battery phones I’ve bought so far. How do people live with 3000mah?

Can someone make the Thor ragnorok meme where google says: you cant defeat me. Then Samsung says I know but he can, showing a photo of Google again. Google commits suicide. Google=Hitler.

Is 5G supposed to consume more battery than 4G? Does it apply to every new level of data speed improvement?

It’s the “a” model so it’s around $450. Market standards are not the same as Xiaomi’s standards, look at the Galaxy S10, it’s one of if not the most popular android flagship and it only has 3400mAh. Xiaomi tends to have huge batteries for cheap which is one of their main advantages, I think the market standard is somewhere between 3000-3500mAh, but imo, it should be higher.

I think (maybe) Xiaomi are making smaller batteries because they’re more involved with artsy designs of the cases and fair enough that’s their thing they’re into and it’s also why I bought the phone I’m on now

I also think Xiaomi are less into giving people a bigger battery and more into making the software consume less power and being able to manage the battery power better

Well the pixel 3a XL does have a 3700 mAh battery so it seems like they’re taking steps in the right direction. I think there’s hope!

They started doing 4050/4100 mAh back in 2016 with the redmi note 3…so it’s the other way around, Xiaomi and their redmi series got popular in the first place for this particular reason as being very long lasting battery due to effeicient running SoC and bigger batteries.
There perhaps has even been models before that with 4000+ mAh capacity but i can’t recall the capacity of all the models from back then right know

With 5G we could see big and bulky phones more but I think it’ll be 50/50.

I have no idea really, but I welcome competition in this segment. Back when I was considering my Max 3, only other big battery option was Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1. More choice is always good
