How do I get there? Or is that a separate app?
Sadly all I can find is “com.qualcomm.qti.callfeaturessetting” and “com.qualcomm.qti.ims”
Yeah I forgot to mention. I’m using Dutch language so it may be not 100% accurate
Settings – display – contrast & colours – automatic contrast is selected, select which contrast level you like
Exactly, it should not. There apparently is an option in the developer settings called “increase readability in sunlight” but miui doesn’t show that(?), should be right under “logger buffer sizes”
Yes, its for sunlight legibility. Samsung does this as well but more subtly and more granular. Set it to “increased contrast” to disable.
Perhaps you have “reading mode” on? It seems to override standard saturation for some reason.
Okay so in order to fixed you’ve got to change colour temperature while on auto contrast manually. The cursor needs to be dead center.
It’s the same with my mi Mix 3. I think that’s normal…
It shouldnt do that while contrast is set on standard. Its a bug.
Still, only software issue, display itself is fine.
There should be an option in the developer settings called “increase readability in sunlight” but miui doesn’t show that(on my phone?), should be right next to “logger buffer sizes”
Looks like a bug, if you really set your contrast to standard, it literally won’t change at all.
Try flashing newest MIUI or try MIUI.EU

I literally can’t use the phone when I’m outside, the high contrast makes everything go to sh!t, even when I’m not directly in the sun..
Edit:
I think I need to give you guys some more information because this is getting downvoted and everyone is suggesting stuff that I already have disabled/enabled:
– Auto brightness is already off
– Contrast is already set to Standard
– Reading mode is already disabled
– Already did a factory reset and everything is up to date
I used a flashlight in the video to make it easier to show but this gets also triggered from just my ceiling light in my room and that should not happen. Someone also pointed out that this should only happen while on max brightness and that’s the problem, I’m literally sitting in my room with no sunlight near the phone and it triggers this “feature” on and off constantly.
How did you get the dark mode?
That makes the most sense to me if it should only happen on max brightness, you’re the first one to mention that. I have the official global version of the Mi 9T on the latest miui version, no custom rom yet.
I never go above 75% brightness because the screen is bright enough.. and I’m like sitting outside without the sun behind the clouds and the screen decides to go crazy, like I would put the sharpness and saturation sliders on max.. I would be okay with it in direct sunlight as it can help see text better but even then 100% screen brightness is more than enough, at least for me..
That’s a bug then. It’s supposed to work only at maximum beightness in auto mode. Which rom is it?
Um yeah? Even my Redmi Note 3 works like that. It’s *Qualcomm’s tech.*
Yes that’s a qualcomm specific feature. It is trying to make the screen readable. Forgot what it is called. other phones have it too. It tries to raise the black level.
Redmi Note 4
Xxxx
I’ve just checked and the standard setting disables that color shift that happens on extreme sun outside. Mi5, 8.9.22 latest weekly.
It forces the autobrightness climb up though. Maybe you want to disable it?
You’re being downvoted for simply stating your issue, as is mine when I asked something similar here.
If you bought it locally try to show it to the shop you bought it, or send a video to the shop you bought it from.
That doesn’t happen on my device unless I have Automatic Contrast on. Since you had Standard Contrast and Reading Mode off, that shouldn’t happen.
Try to RMA or return that if you can. Maybe QC issues of the display panel. Reddit told me the issues that I had was “normal”. I tested the same unit on the local shop, compared the difference and they agreed to refund it.
please tell me did you find a solution for this? i am currently having the exact problem on miui 14.0.6 on redmi 10 2022 but it is worse than this
It’s almost like it actually is. Sure, colour accuracy takes a hit, but it’s at a time that you can’t see accurately regardless. I think it is a very elegant solution to a common problem.
happens on my nokia too. i thinks its a android 9 thing maybe.
I changed my contrast to “increased” and it now works completely fine with no contrast change.
Search “SVI Settings” not “com.qualcomm.svi”. It should be there.
You can turn that off in the settings
Same. Note 10S here. Drawbacks of having cheap amoled displays. 500 issues.
It’s standard feature in MIUI since MIUI6 actually
Where
Its like dark mode when its in a dark room. I would appreciate it.,
I already have it on standard contrast as you can see at the beginning of the video
Its Qualcomm Sunlight Visibility Improvement (com.qualcomm.svi) feature. You can [turn it off](https://i.imgur.com/1ybYwir.png).
Yes, it’s normal and is actually pretty handy.
I always wondered what this was, i always thought it was a bug but it didn’t affect me that much so I just ignored it.
It’s cool they thought of that but I agree, it kinda makes things hard to see 🙁
You can use [QuickShortcutMaker](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut&hl=en) (or any similar app) to locate the “SVI Settings” app (com.qualcomm.svi) and use it to launch the “com.qualcomm.svi/com.qualcomm.svi.SVIPreferences” activity.

The display looks nicer. Of course, I wouldn’t use my phone like that (or at all) in the cinema, but I prefer using it at 100%.
That’s because you have set the display settings to automatic. It adjusts to bright environment by increasing the contrast. Set it to increased saturation to avoid the switching
It does the same on my Note 5 Pro and it sucks, there’s no way to turn it off
Ahh it wouldn’t play for me so I didn’t see that…
It shouldn’t change contrast then if that’s off or what’s the point of having a stay constant setting?
If you set it to increased does it still change by itself?
Of course it’s normal.
> ALL CAPS SO YOU CAN SEE THIS BETTER
All caps is just annoying.
Yeah I hate it too.
Bbbb
Same here on Redmi note 7 very useful.
Phones that don’t have that bright of screens often do this to compensate. Without it you would not be able to see anything
I’m surprised that so many of you find that useful
I think most people just don’t see the problem you have since they never had a problem with it. I didn’t either, very handy feature.
From your description looks like it does it at the wrong moments so obviously its annoying. Looks like a bug to me, try the latest weekly from xiaomi.eu, maybe it’ll work okay for you there (they have lots of features fixed).
My galaxy S9 does that too to help see clearly in daylight, its perfectly normal
Which really sucks – there is no way to force full brightness if there’s no sunlight on your phone.
It already is on standard contrast as you can see at the beginning of the video
I do find it useful, having an option to toggle it would be nice though
I have auto brightness always disabled, contrast is also on standard not on auto
Happens to my RN7
Same to me
He shows this setting in the video..
If this was an issue or a bug, ,then the whole display would have adjusted but this is adjusting only the UI so, intended.
Even the S8 plus does this for better visibility outdoors
Yep, but it’s very minor, I suspect they’ll change it in next version.
It only happens if contrast is set to automatic under display, not sure if you meant the same.
It’s the famous Samsung glow. Basically it’s a way to see the display better in high brightness environments. Disable automatic brightness and the feature will be disabled.
>ust go to settings–display—contrast &colors and choose standard
???
Look in the settings “display” then “contrast and colors” and uncheck automatic contrast.
I have the same behavior on miui eu 10.3.14.0.
I find having crap color accuracy and being able to see the screen is better than not having any form of sunlight readability
I have same issue in my Redmi Note 7.
It’s annoying. I even use anti blue light tempered glass screen i thought that it will resolve the issue. I don’t use dark mode because of this.
While reading the comments.
Someone said this
Settings – Display – Contrast & Colors – Set to Standard.
It works fine fine for me after doing this.
Are you using a rooted Mi 9T? I have no luck finding SVI settings either.
This feature doesn’t do its job. Turning the blacks into greys doesn’t help see what matters better, it just makes everything look washed out. By turning the blacks into greys it actually decreases contrast.
The weird thing is, on my mi9t it only happens when I have reading mode on.
I think I need to give you guys some more information because everyone is suggesting stuff that I already have disabled/enabled:

My Mi9 does that too when in direct sunlight even if i have auto brightness off.
True, maybe they can’t comprehend that people can also get lemon units. Most people didn’t even watch the video.
That is call auto adjustment
have you found a solution to this? i am still experiencing this issue on my redmi 10 2022 with miui 14.0.6 global
Can’t find SVI Settings no matter what I do
It happens to me too, Redmi Note 7 so i think it’s normal
As someone with extreme light sensitivity I never understood why people need to have brightness cranked to 10000000 when it’s in a dark room. You blind me from the other side of the cinema Karen turn your iPhone XS brightness down
It’s part of Xiaomi’s “Sunlight Mode”, also known as sunlight display.
This unfortunately is meant to work like that. I dislike it too. You can turn it off if it works right , but you’d have to use one of the other two screen modes (I forgot which one). The option under developer settings you were talking about only exists on Huawei smartphones if I recall correctly.
You can find it in display settings , automatic contrast and increased contrast.
Just use increased contrast mode and you will be fine.
Most androids suffer from that problem. Would rather manually change the lighting myself
Mi a1 has it too
