If we could just limit phones to 6 or 8gb so ram prices can come down for PC that’d be nice 🙁
I don’t think that many phones use DDR4
All the new phones will want to have DDR4 anyways unless pc gets ddr5 sooner
We are already at the time that phones have more RAM than my PC.
That is where you are a bit wrong.
The problem is that the same factories make the DRAM chips for both our phones and computers.
And since phones sell in the millions, the manufacturers tend to give way better bulk discounts and manufacturing priority, meaning PC users get crap prices.
I’d take 1 second loading time instead of 8 though.
Not so fast. Everything I’ve heard is that manufacturers are already tooled up for DDR4 and got their production lines going (for as long as there is demand), and any new memory production is installed on a new line rather than replacing existing production lines.
The reason why RAM prices are so high is because the DRAM manufacturers have formed a Cartel (They are colluding with each other to keep prices high rather than compete). This has been proven multiple times throughout the years, but still, they have not been stopped.

True. I really wanted to love Brave 🙁
Yes I know.
I’m just saying that phone manufacturers have an advantage here. So price fixing is in effect, but instead of paying 80$US/8GB of RAM, perhaps phone manufacturers pay 40$US.
Since they make high value bulk purchases, they have more purchasing power, and can therefore, circumvent a part of the price fixing.
Interesting, any supporting evidence or did you make this up?
23 of which will be killed by the MIUI battery saver.
I use Microsoft edge on my phone, in edge there’s an option to turn on Adblock
Having recently switched from Edge to Brave, it pains me to say that Edge is nice. But Brave isn’t just about adblocking.
I’ve always had crappy PC’s. My phone has generally always had better specs apart from storage. But I fixed that with a big SD.
And poor Android still can’t figure out how to use all of it
Yes it has a lot of privacy protection and build access to the dark web. I personally don’t really care about online privacy and hackers and all of that. I switched to it because I thought Google chrome was pretty neat but I thought the design of tabs in Google chrome was ugly. But the extensions that work on chrome don’t work on brave so I switched to edge, I liked edge but the browser has a slightly blue tinted accent to pretty much everything, which makes me feel cold. On desktop that disturbs me but on mobile I think it’s fine. Chrome has now changed the design of tabs but it still takes hell lot of ram. Today I have a lot of browsers installed on all of my devices and I just use whatever browser I feel like. On mobile mostly edge and on desktop mostly Firefox. I generally like the Microsoft design language. Though they don’t use it every where in there operating system I love where they do. I use the launcher sqauere 2 home on my phone because it makes it look like windows phone. On that launcher there’s the option to round all the sqaueres, and I think that is beautiful, I wish Microsoft did that everywhere in windows aswell. Chrome has begun doing it, but I think chrome does it in a slightly uncharming way, the future will be a balance between those designs
Ram does need a lot of energy as well
Lol up vote for manually adding jizz to the chrome logo
so what did chrome do?
Lol ectoplasm
I don’t really get it; I have a high end gaming PC with super good hardware (ryzen 2600; GTX 1080).
A few weeks ago I downgraded my PC to 8 GB of ram because my brother had a problem with his and I never was in need of more. What is the point of a 10 GB smartphone, is it just marketing for not tech-heavy people or is android really so bad optimised that it benefits somehow ? I don’t mean: “Look now you can have 20 games open at the same time.”
Btw. my smartphone has 6 GB and I never used more than 3 GB.
As far as I know Samsung is keeping its production as low as possible.
They also have no intention to change it since it won’t benefit their incoming. The Chinese Ram companies are growing and since they are mostly run by government decissions the prices are going to drop dramatically in 3-4 years.
cases are still pending, but we all know it’s still happening
Is 5G the norm in Europe and Asia? I wonder if it’s coming to Canada soon?
