So I have always stuck to Samsung & OnePlus. First time I bought a Xiaomi (15). The phone has excellent hardware, but the software, Hyper OS 2, leaves much to be desired. I have a Samsung S25+, but I don’t like the battery life and the slow 45-watt charging. I had a OnePlus 13, but that did not allow RAW image capture at full 50MP resolution. Xiaomi 15 has both of those, fast 90-watt charging, and allows RAW image capture at full 50MP. But the software is not up to the One UI or Oxygen OS mark. Some issues like not being able to make the control panel and notifications can’t be combined into one page, no gesture support for third party launchers, screen column and row sizes are very limited, double tap to turn off screen doesn’t work, there is no disabling with ADB commands but only the uninstall command works. These and a few things are bothering me. Would love to discuss with you all. Thanks.
I got used to the control centre lock icon
Nope. Xiaomi has removed it since HyperOS introduction in premium phones.
Running X14 here.
Ok

You don’t have this option under notification settings?
I agree with op. I came from the 24U and regret it. The came is a bit better but hyperOS is not a premium OS too me. I’ll take The 1plus OS over it. On top of whatever op said, they also don’t have trusted devices unless they’re Xiaomi devices, can’t get rid of the damn now playing widget , the settings button being one of the tiles, can’t get rid of their app mall, can’t see screen on time or battery used by screen, has to spend too much time optimizing to get rid of battery drain, and so on .
Xiaomi removed for the 15
No it doesn’t suck looks fresh professional and easy to use previous android formula on same page sucked.
>double tap to turn off screen doesn’t work
Set your any wallpaper via the [LWP+](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lb.lwp_plus) app and enable double-tap lock in the app settings
They are small differences to me and I got used to them in a week.
The better camera, camera kit, battery and functionality that equals Samsung s24u makes up for it.
Very good hardware.. sub par software
We can disagree. I have had iPhones and many android phones. For me the one view is better. iOS sucks imo .
If I did not want any freedom, I would buy an Apple. Not Xiaomi. Having an option like what we are used to in android is the most normal expectation. Stop pretending like it’s actually original and revolutionary. I’m here because I want customisation.
Wow HO3? any news as to when it’s coming?
I was scared you would say something worse. I’m getting mine tomorrow 😎
I am chilling with my xiaomi 15 white 512 gb
That’s not available in Xiaomi 15
Disagree. Like one UI 7 make it an option. This iOS like view sucks
I personally find HOS2 the best Android experience. Recently tried to use Google Pixel 9 Pro for a while after switching from 13U. After 5 months I gave up: so many bugs and inconsistencies… Switched to 15U and it again feels amazing.
It’s superb. Even with long doom scrolling sessions I’m on 40% by the end of the day. And charging at 90w is spectacular
Just use Shizuku and Canta to remove bloat
HOS 2.1 and 2.2 are such a big jump from 2.0 too.
btw, what’s planned for OS3?
Can u tell me if u have the option to change the control center style to the old version or not? Go to settings “notification and status bar” then under that in control center option can u change it to old style or not.. plz check
You’re being unnecessarily picky. Stop
HOS 2.1 and 2.2 are so much better.
my Redmi K30 PZE (5 years old) runs luke butter.
same
Seriously.. 🫠🫠🫠. Ok. Thanks for confirmation
It’s a weird one with the double tap to turn off screen because the Poco series phones have the feature on their Hyperos versions, but for Xiaomi’s version you only have the control center lock screen option or the home screen widget.
Nope on xiaomi 15 u cant…and xiaomi also disabled gestures support on third party launchers
Not true. EU ROM works super fine with ota
You’re trying to make hyperOS like other androids, and it just doesn’t work like that. I’d say get used to it.
I say customisation. I need an option to have that view. Default can stay as it is. Why is it so hard to understand?
Seriously xiaomi hardware is good
. Love it.. software is lacklusture
HOS 2 looks like a small upgrade compared to whats planned for HOS 3. Especially more controls over the camera features.
right?
Hyperos is fine. I wish xiaomi reduce the amount of useless google apps and bloatware.
How’s the battery life please tell
Yep.. oxygen os and one ui are much better.. but samsung comes with their small battery and my deal breaker slow a$$ charging.. and one plus with its stupid limitation of RAW capture in 12MP only. Xiaomi 15 has both.. but OS is just sub par, it feels like a half baked custom rom.
Actually there’s a way to have the control panel and notifications on the same “page” (at least for me)
Same phone, its not available. But i have it on my other redmi though.
Why do u need other launchers as if HyperOS launcher isn’t good enough, and why don’t you like the more modern control panel,if u really need notification and control panel in same place,I think you could change it in settings in notifications and panel,to the old style
I agree the Ui can be better. It’s something i don’t mind much because apps are the same anyway like chrome, games, banking apps etc.
I find the camera Ui decent but dial app and notifications panel could be better.
Hopefully the upcoming HyperOS 3.0 will boost battery life and make the Ui better overall.
You’ll get used to it.. moving away from overpriced Sammy as well.
I think its in july 2025
Unfortunately nope.. is it a bug or they removed? Is yours xiaomi 15? Which software version?
Actually we don’t want to combine notification and control centre into one page make it cluttered. That’s the idea.
Saying ‘used to in android’ is not reasonable.
You want to make all androids the same why buy anything new. Just because the biggest phone company did it doesn’t mean all of them should.
I find the Xiaomi notification and settings split to be quite nice.
Professional? Lmao it takes 2 swipes to use the control centre and view notifications.
The combined one is much more intuitive and offers ease of use.
Is bootloader unlock possible at least?
Wow that sucks
You have the combines notification shade option if you have an older model that run MIUI in the past. If you have a newer model that was released with HOS then you only get the new split option.
No bootloader unlock is pain to do. And if you do it it blows an efuse in the soc and you kiss goodbye any OTA updates even if you revert for the OEM firmware. I wouldn’t suggest it even trying it…
I find it decent…
I’ve used IOS. Xiaomi is anything but IOS, because apples are basically downright confusing (as an android user). Last I used their notification, you had to long press each notification to get rid of it. Extremely time consuming
Yes, and my circle to search doesn’t even work.
Custom ROMS? Request to Unlock your phone, wait 7 days (if doing by official way). Download a ROM. Now you got something different!
You can the lock it.
For some people Bank apps won’t work, there are ways to get around this though
wonder why they’d remove a feature for the 15 but keep it for the older phones.
i really like having both notifications and control centre on one page on my 13
