Try actually getting through to their customer service over this. You get nowhere. They don’t usually have the courtesy to respond.
I’m kinda sitting back to see how long Xiaomi will get away with this for. In my opinion, their days of sketchy BL tactics are numbered… but I could be wrong.

When you say aren’t using a Chinese IP, if I use a Chinese VPN on both the phone when binding and the pc when using the tool would it maybe bypass the timer?

Can’t PM cause I’m mobile but my new xiaomi phone I’m trying to unlock doesn’t want to behave. The unlock tool says Phone not connected and when I plug in the phone in fastboot mode, the phone says Press any key to shutdown. So very lame.

Also, I am not able to bind my account in the dev options… and so I cant unlock it. I’ve been trying since February but nothing. So I unlocked unofficially..

You can easily edit the strings for each error code and the one for the 72 to 360 hour wait is basically a giant “Fuck You” to those that aren’t using a Chinese IP address
Mine came unlocked from Gearbest, for some reason.

Maybe. I bought a Xiaomi device in China and applied for unlocking, it took about an hour.
