Does anyone else have problems with limiting their battery charge? I turned the function to limit the charge to 80% on, but it ignores the setting completely and charges to 100% anyway. The weird thing is that it worked for the first ~6 weeks of use, but about a week ago it stopped working by itself.
I have tried turning both the phone and the function off and on again, tried different chargers, tried the smart charging functionality; nothing works. Any help with fixing this issue would be greatly appreciated.
I’m on a Xiaomi 15. Quite sad to see such a basic, but very important feature not working properly on a 2025 flagship.
Thanks for the suggestion. I’ve restarted the phone several times already, also after the last update, and sadly the issue still persists.
Yeah, but I have the feeling HyperOS isn’t the most efficient overlay out there, and I’m also not running the device in power saving mode, considering that locks the screen to 60Hz (which doesn’t happen when you do that on a *midrange* Samsung phone) Terrible design choice by Xiaomi.
I haven’t got the exact numbers because I didn’t feel like keeping up with it and HyperOS doesn’t show the sot, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s somewhere in the 6-7h range.
Since it stopped working it charges past 80% everytime, so about 7 consecutive cycles now.
I haven’t let it reach 100% after the limiter stopped working, so maybe I should do that to see if it’s calibration related. This didn’t happen on any of my previous Samsung devices though.
If you updated the security app manually that might cause this. Go to the security app’s app details and see if the option to “uninstall updates” is there.
You should wait, maybe in next update, this issue will be solved.
I thought Having 5240 mah battery will give at least 7-8 hours sot.
Battery life is average. Lasts you a day of normal use easily, but that’s about it. The phone might heat up a little more than others under heavy, sustained load (benchmarks and gaming), but nothing serious and still very manageable. With normal daily usage it doesn’t heat up at all.
Thanks for the suggestion and I’m glad your problem got solved that way. Sadly I have smart charging turned off by default and it’s still broken. Turning it on and then off again didn’t work either.
Yeah, hyper os is a little different, optimization is not that good even in a flagship device I think but still it’s not that bad phone, Xiaomi 15 still provides everything in compact size phone.
Agreed. The hardware and the overall package of the Xiaomi 15 is absolutely fantastic and nigh unbeatable, hence why I jumped ship from a decade of using Samsung to the Xiaomi 15.
It’s just the software experience letting me down in some regards, but especially this battery limiter thing I find to be very off putting, which is a shame, because it seems to be something that should be easily fixable by Xiaomi.
Let me know, if you find anything, btw how’s the battery and heat performance of the device please tell.
I faced the same issue. I tried turning off the smart charging and the issue was solved for me.
hmm weird, i also use Xiaomi 15, but i don’t have this problem. is it every time or just sometime? AFAIK, other phones like google and Samsung sometimes will also ignore 80% limit for battery recalibration
I’ve just tried this, and it didn’t work sadly. Thanks anyway!
I had the same problem after the last update. I’ve restarted the phone and problem solved, now it stops at 80%.
